...that it can be a total freaking b***h.

Heels swiftly click-clacked down the floor of one of the lower levels as a very displeased agent made her way to the tech department. She'd only been there on a couple occasions, usually to put locks on pokeballs or similar little things. This time, however, it was for something much more important. Or, at least, to her it was important.

The tech department was suddenly +1 angry female as Claire swung the door open, a small blue thing in one hand and a smaller black thing in the other. She held the blue thing up, which turned out to be a fluffy innocent-looking blue Eevee. The agent's face, however, was anything but pleased. "Which one of you gave me this?" She asked, holding it a little higher as if to emphasize the question. The Eevee in question merely wiggled a bit with a cute "vuii~" as she tried to swat at Claire's fingers.

"-want a GUI for it now, so-"

Five heads, bent in concentration over a sheaf of documents sprawled across a table, looked up - all agents, all nerds by some indefinable standard, and over half wearing glasses. The room froze - possibly at the sight of a female - and then typing resumed in the background as a bearded brunette nodded to the tech next to him. "Hayes." He was echoed by a series of nods and murmurs of 'yeah,' 'probably,' 'five bucks says,' and 'no way.'

"Hey, come on," the one at the head of the table laughed, then adjusted his glasses and had a better look at the girl - and the thing dangling from its scruff in her fist. Recognition dawned with a mellow smile on the sandy blond agent's features as he lowered his pencil. "Hey - it's Claire, right?" ("Calledit," someone coughed.)

She wasted no time in walking over to the table, lips pursed as she gave the assembled company a frosty glare - what were they going on about, calling it? She wasn't sure what they meant exactly - well, she had a vague idea - but regardless she was not in the mood for joking of any sort or levity. "You gave me this little... menace," she repeated, her tone switching from a question to an obvious accusation, as if he'd given her such a little devil on purpose. Which, actually, he had. She held the wiggling Eevee in front of her a few inches, the little ball of blue fluff dangling about a foot and a half to two feet from Hayes.

"Vuii!" She churred, gold eyes brightening with a vague recognition and she swatted a small paw at him.

Seemingly oblivious to the pure adorable that was Bluetooth, Claire continued not by speaking, but by offering the smaller black thing to Hayes. Well, perhaps 'offering' wasn't the right word - more like 'take it or else.'

The smaller black thing turned out to be a Rocket dex - or, what had at one point been a 'dex. It was absolutely covered in teeth marks and scratches of various sizes, directions, and depths. The holo-screen was stuck out at an absurd angle and covered in similar marks, and portions of the 'dex were still wet with saliva. Overall, it looked like an Arcanine had been gnawing on it for about an hour.

"Fix it."

At Claire's accusation, Hayes made the connection. "Oh yeah. Hey blue," he grinned faintly, and poked a finger at the waving paw. Then their visitor held the 'dex out. Silence fell again. All the agents at the table stared at the dripping, mangled device as Hayes started to reach for it, then thought better; the scruffy bearded one voiced what they were all thinking. "Damn."

Then: "Wait."

One by one, their attention shifted between the 'dex, the blue Eevee, and Claire's face. Two of these things were deadly serious. One was.. not.

There was some uncomfortable shuffling and repressed smiles.

In the back, someone turned a snicker into a cough. ("So.. did Nikki dye her hair?" asked someone else.)

"We're.. kind of in a meeting right now," said Hayes, spokesperson of the table. He indicated the notes strewn across the table and gave Claire an apologetic smile and shrug - programming, what can you do. "But if you file a work order I can get to it first thing."

If Hayes' finger had been any closer, he would have found it suddenly stuck firmly in the little Eevee's jaws. Fortunately for him, he didn't - he probably remembered how much she tried to chew on him before.

Violet eyes narrowed dangerously at their obvious disbelief. Clearly they hadn't met Blue - and perhaps Hayes had forgotten just how much of a menace she really could be. Well, she'd just have to remind him, and show them.

"Oh, I see," she said, her expression suddenly clearing, eyebrows raising innocently. "I hope it isn't too important, because I don't think you really remember Blue quite well enough." This said as she extended her arm above the table - well out of Hayes' reach - the arm that held the squirming ball of adorable fluff.

And then she let go.

Two sounds would be heard next - an exuberant "vui!" and the ominous sound of a bundle of fur hitting a sheaf of papers. Important papers. Important papers that were quite suddenly flying in every direction from the point of impact, with a bundle of blue fur and unlimited amounts of energy running around the table chasing and jumping at them, trying to swat them out of the air to shred to bits.

"Uh." Hayes' brows drew together as Claire raised the Eevee like some sort of doomsday weapon, his expression one of doubt and bemusement. His team was still hiding smiles, much with the air of an audience waiting for the inevitable gag.

And then she let go.

All eyes instantly widened. A collective "Oh SHI--" went up from the room as design notes went everywhere to a chorus of chairs scraping back and pens clattering on the table. "Grab it!" Hayes barked, making an attempt to do so himself as the last week's work started down the road to hamster bedding.

Clattering pens were deftly knocked off the table by a playful blue Eevee as more papers went flying, the little menace nimbly and fluidly dodging every hand that came at her - it was only natural, given who her mother was - but she wasn't shredding anything. Yet.

"So, can you fix my 'dex?" Claire asked cheerily, hands folded behind her back as she rocked from her heels to the toes of her boots, watching the chaos unfold not without a small feeling of satisfaction. At least now they believed her - or would soon enough - as Blue pounced on more papers, dashing around the random assortment of limbs with one of the papers crumpled in her mouth.

It would've been nice if that ended it then and there, but the techs - Hayes included - were focused on the potential loss of their precious documents (and the inevitable wrath that would result.) Those too far from the scene to be more than a hindrance were giving Claire some seriously dirty looks - some half out of their chairs if they were of agent rank - and some enterprising souls started releasing Pokemon with the clear intent of catching the little blue thing.

"Keep it down!" someone hissed, jerking their head meaningfully toward Seth's office door. "Y're gonna get us all killed."

Claire made the strategic decision amidst the chaos and flying papers that now would be a good time to halt the otherwise inevitable destruction of their important documents - it didn't have anything to do with the fact half the department now wanted to kill her, which wasn't anything she wasn't used to - so she gave a half shrug and pulled something from her pocket.

Blue was still bounding around the table, nimbly dodging every hand that came at her, the paper still clasped firmly in her tiny jaws, having the time of her life playing with so many people all at once--

Squeak!

Blue suddenly froze in the middle of the table, gold eyes zeroing on on the squeaky toy Claire was holding. With one final "vui!" in which she dropped the paper she held, she launched herself off the table and landed on the toy. Well, sort of - more like... somehow managed to grab onto the toy mid-air. With her teeth. The toy which Claire still held firmly in her hand. The only sounds now were vicious and adorable growling noises as Blue proceeded to gnaw the squeaky bone-thing while dangling from Claire's right side.

Squeak!

Most - if not all - of the programmers froze where they were, some of them caught mid-reach, lean or lunge. This was not Team Rocket's most athletic sampling of members, and several of them looked - not to put too fine a point on it - ridiculous, or at the least awkward.

"Bulba, bulba saur," a Pokemon grumbled in the silence as Rockets straightened up to a chorus of embarrassed coughs and baleful looks at Claire.

Hayes emerged from under a table, shaking his bangs out of his eyes, and surveyed the room at large as he got to his feet.

"So.. break early for lunch?"

To see some of the (noticeably) un-athletic programmers in action poses once they froze was, to put it politely, rather amusing. Actually, in a select few cases, very amusing. Claire, however, remained pointedly poker-faced as Hayes climbed out from.... under the table. ...why was he under the table? Blue wasn't that scary, was she?

...actually yeah, she was.

Amidst the grumbling and shuffling of the members of the tech department, Claire tucked Blue safely (and securely, which was much more important) under her arm, still holding the squeaky toy lest the 'vee drop it and start chewing the agent's arm instead - as if that had never happened before... With a mildly awkward shuffle of appendages - she probably should've put Blue under her other arm, now she thought about it - she managed to hold her mangled 'dex out with an exasperated, please-help-me-with-this look at Hayes.
