"As the Sun takes it's light
the moon shining so bright
Capture the moment in the glass
then everything comes to pass."
~ ---

"Look there is no diversion
From he who brings aversion.
Give him a drink of the light
then he'll be fair and white,
that which mirrors all light."

He smiled, the first true smile to go across the fool's face he was forced to wear. In the sky above the moon had begun it's slow journey, he could feel the changes in the ground, but still something was amiss.
This gamble was far too easy, but then it wasn't likely any of them would piece this together. After all, even he didn't know the reasons behind this ruse he was set to play, but then he never could be trusted with such things. The notion of free will was something only these false lives could take, those who infested this world and others, but poor simple shadows of those who came before. Every rotation pushed them further from the surface, and even he, one only one rotation old knew exactly how little those false lives had in comparison to himself, and yet they had the power. It was unthinkable that he could exist without it, almost like these false lives were favored and he was the relic. Still, this was why he was forced to rely on trickery, but these tricks were of the tools of the false life, and that meant he would have the power to accomplish his task.
Still, the place chosen left something to be desired. A rock in the middle of a small marsh, teeming with many of the more annoying creatures with false life. Still, for how much the little insects bothered him they died quickly enough after a taste of his lifeless blood. This was why he was quickly growing impatient, keeping his focus was hardly easy. Still, the moon would be in position any minuite, and he just hoped someone would be foolish enough to approach once the ceremony began
"The hour fast approaches. As the saying goes" he chuckled loudly "Ashes to Ashes and Dust to Dust"

As the eclipse moved towards totality he raised his head, glancing at the skies above "Darkness covers these lands" He said as he pulled the stolen broadsword from behind his back. "This eternal lifeless state leaves me worthless among these who throw their gift with no concept of what it really is." The sword spun around in his hand as he watched, waiting for the exact moment before slamming the blade into the stone releasing it once it had taken its place. "Nightmares of the darkness arise, come forth and purge everything from these lands" There was a surge, blue lines spreading out to create a circle around the marsh before the demon clutched the blade, sending a wave of the black spiritual energy through the blade, using it as a conduit to taint the energy released by the earth itself. The lines changed from blue to black in an instant, red lightning arching across the ground as the circle spread out, in all a mile in diameter. The energy surged, lines and writings in one of the ancient languages spreading out, though these characters would be familiar to many who knew the ninja arts. "Summoning technique"
The lightning vanished, as did all life inside the circle, all the trees had been seared clean of leaves, grass rotted away, and the stench of death covered the area. A sickening feeling emanating from the area, this place would be barren of life for generations until the world's energies could recover. As the life cleared away it was replaced with something else. The entire forest, every branch throughout the mile-wide circle was covered with crows so black that light seemed to bend around them, the birds all possessing the same strange glowing green eyes.
He smiled and surveyed the work before turning his attention back at the second part of the plan "Let this blade rest until it's true owner, if they can claim it's power, come forth" he just grinned and glanced up at the eclipse. The world locked in this darkness, three red rings appearing on the ground under his feet, mirrored by three small rings on the moon, only a small dot, just barely visible to those with the keenest of eyesight. This darkness would be here to stay, and his pets...
"Now my minions, Fly!"'

He stared for several long moments as the birds just sat perched on their branches, cawing to one another, all with their eyes focused on him. After several long moments half of the birds took flight, towards the academy grounds

He adjusted his cloak, glancing up at the small red spot on the moon, before returning his gaze to the blade planted in the stone. After a few long moments he reached into his pocket, pulling out a cigar, lighting it with a snap from his fingers. He took long drag before blowing out a smoke ring, turning to look towards one of the birds nearest him. He gazed into it's eyes for a moment before nodding. "Everything is going well it seems, hmm, nothing at the Tsuchi Dojo? Have the scouts destroy the building, better use of their energy then even bothering to come come back anyway... " He took another puff before glancing at the bird.

So, scattered about, only one student per dojo... he pondered before checking the numbers in the flocks scouting the town. "Send several more to the town, I may need replacements there" he turned around and began to walk. Glancing at the birds still remaining in the former marsh, many of which were already preparing what looked like a large nest. "Continue on, don't let anyone touch the sword" and with that statement he vanished in a swirl of black hellfire.

He had been back standing with both hands behind his back, eyes locked on the moon. Seeming to be concentrating on something important. Several of the pools in the marsh were now tinted green, a slight glow about them, several birds laying near the pools, their bodies seemingly torn apart by their comrades.

His attention was momentary diverted towards the flocks overhead, and how they had started to react, any crow mixed with a group outside it's own murder being... well murdered. It unsettled him to know that something like this had happened, the loss of birds was meaningless really, pitting them against one another was part of a later phase of his plan... well he supposed he could afford to accelerate that part now. As the flock seemed to start to return to normal, their eyes returning to the normal green his eyes shifted towards the bird on his shoulder "Choose ninety of the injured, and have them begin the ritual"

He returned to his inward focus. Letting his mind wander across those sitting on nests, as he moved back towards dedicating his focus towards one specific task. The occasional surges of red and black lightning shooting up into the sky along the sword's blade, but mostly being masked by the dead treeline.

He tilted his head as a bird that had chosen to sit on his shoulder seemed to become unsettled about something. His gaze lingering for several moments. "No, I don't wish to experience it. For all I care use it as your conduit as it seems your distracting me has cost me information just the same. Deal with that one as you want... my plans only need the city in tact the inhabitants matter little... and send some scouts to the gathering of ninja, it seems I was cut off as things were starting to get... interesting."

He turned his attention to the remains of the little battle he had staged, watching four birds land on-top of each pile of stationary bodies. He moved to the center of the piles. His hands touched down on the ground, black and red energy surged. Everything in the piles began to shift together in a grotesque manner. Those birds that remained gathered in the trees in the now dead marsh had dwindled.

The demon sighed and glanced at the bird on his shoulder then turned back towards the four figures surrounding him. "It would have been more traditional to create five, but four pawns will have to do." He threw out several cloaks of bird feathers woven together, each one black, but with the faintest tint of a color.

"I suppose I can part with a Knight to fill the gap." He started making hand motions, and drew out the last of his chakra reserves, leaving him with only the void remaining. "Kuchiyose: Edo Tensei" (Lit: Summoning: Impure World Resurrection)

He gave one look at the plain wooden coffin that rose from the ground, but remained closed. The bird took flight from his shoulder, landing on top of the box and pecking at it a few times. "Handle things here, and keep that telepath blocked, I doubt she will read me, but it is not something I am willing to risk at this point in the game." He found another bird and ran it through with his exposed hand before quickly shaking off the acidic residue. Looking with some interest at the burns forming where the acid had splashed against his skin.

His wounds stopped spreading after several moments, and he glanced at his reflection in one of the pools. At some unspoken signal he made a single handed sign and vanished in a swirl of black flames, the scent of brimstone quickly fading away.

"But that's not..." Lina shook her head, they had enough trouble understanding what messages she wished to impart. She sighed and charged in the direction Ren indicated, slowing as they approached the boundary formed where the life of the forest just stopped.

"This really isn't right" she said, glancing at the four figures surrounding the coffin. "This really really isn't right" she said as she glanced at the coffin, then back at Tier, Ren, and Ookamimaru. "Anyone seeing anyone... anything else? No Nerve impluses in anything out here... and no chakra for me to sense in anything but the coffin"

Ren was crouching down while sweeping the area with his optical bloodline for any other traces of chakra. He didn't immediately notice anything.
"All clear, except for what's in front of us.
What's wrong Lina?"

Tier took note of the four figures standing around a coffin. He turned his head to Lina, "Tier will hide within your shadow before wee get into conflictts. A surprise attackk against unknown opponentss would give an equal edgee.
Just don't use electricityy while Tier is nearr."

He formed several handseals. Krähetechniken: Schatten von Korruption (Shadows of Corruption)
Tier's figure slowly turned into a shadow against the ground as it meshed with Lina's shadow. He made sure to suppress his chakra signature when he performed the jutsu as to not alert the figures or any other unseen forces around them.

"Maybe nothing, maybe something... The chakra in that thing is twisted, but it's close to my own. That alone says he should be here, since nothing alive has my chakra." She glanced around, taking note of the blade in the ground behind the coffin, it lacked any energy but that flowing up from the earth, probably explaining why she hadn't sensed it. He had something to do with this she knew, but why had he abandoned his plan?

She felt somewhat offset when Tier moved into her shadow, but ceased any of the sensory Rai techniques just in case. "Just be ready to move at a moment's notice then, because I don't know how much warning I'll be able to give"

Lina hopped down from the tree, glancing at Ookamimaru, seeming to think for a moment. "Keep back, but don't be afraid to strike if or when an opportunity presents itself"

She didn't wait for his response, instead choosing to run forward under her own power, eyes skirting over the four figures, and focusing on the slight coloration of the robes.

Ren followed in after Lina, keeping the same pace as her while also focusing on the four figures in front of them for any sudden moves.

As the group approached chatter could be heard from the four figures. To the chakra sensing part of Ren's eyes the cloaks would be empty. The cloaks themselves were visible due to the fact that they were normal in every way shape or form, but where the birds were nearly devoid of all the external energies flowing through all objects in the world, these creatures seemed to not exist in a way similar to looking behind a genjutsu in that normal senses said it was there while the bloodline said it was not.

The chatter became clearer as the group approached, it was an almost insect like noise of clicks with the occasional sound similar to a human trying to imitate a bird's call.

The closest figure to Ren was wearing a cloak with a slightly brown tint to the black. The head was in shadow, but what looked like a beak was nearly visible. The mouth opening and closing several times before a voice like a hissing sound asked "Have you come to take it?"

?!
The figures had spotted them already. Ren stopped moving when the figure spoke to him in common-tongue. He could see a beak coming out the hooded cloak(?). Ren didn't say anything, except keep quiet. He was looking back and forth between Lina and the figures.

Lina tried to resist the urge to just outright fry the creatures with Rai, or glance back at her shadow as she looked at them. "Do you want us to Take it?" she asked, glancing around the clearing as if she didn't already have a strong suspicion

She kept her guard at the ready. Something still wasn't sitting right with Lina's instincts. "Why the coffin?"
