~Zanpakuto Information ~
Zanpakuto Name: Nagareboshi Zanpakuto Type: Hantou-Tachi Zanpakuto Sealed Appearance:
Spirit Appearance: Nagareboshi is the ground on which Mumei and his guests stand. The powerful spirit takes the form of a gigantic, mile-wide sphere of molten black rock that floats in the blood-colored void of Mumei's inner world. It has no facial features or visible clues to tell that it's the spirit. It speaks to visitors only after they spend approximately ten minutes on the plane without succumbing to its dangers and burning away, and when it does, the voice echoes and rumbles from within the ground like an earthquake. Nagareboshi is only concerned with the inevitability of destruction and its hand and the death of Mumei's enemies. Spirit Personality: By all accounts, Nagareboshi is evil. It's bloodthirsty, maniacal, and generally insane to the point where it doesn't care about Mumei's death so long as it can take others with him. This homicidal outlook has made other Captains very cautious when dealing with Mumei or his spirit, and has caused a few to consider his execution in order to stave off potential damage to the Seireitei. Luckily, Mumei can keep Nagareboshi from flying into a killing spree through his years of training. During Shikai, the fissures of Nagareboshi split wide open and spill more and more black magma outwards. Once Bankai is released, the spirit starts counting upwards from 1 to 10 - it changes numbers once a minute. The closer it gets to 10, the more violent the "environment" becomes. Spirit Relationship: (Describe the relationship between you and your spirit) Spirit Inner World: Mumei's inner world is a molten, craggy landscape that sprays fountains of black fire and brimstone out of every fissure. The sky is the color of blood, as if to say that all visitors to the realm are there on borrowed time. While the heat is unbearable and the terrain perilous, there are safe spots of solid stone here and there; places where Mumei often takes refuge when he visits the hazardous plane. Most guests find themselves on dangerous ground when they arrive. Weaker Shinigami are warned that Mumei's inner world is one of the more treacherous landscapes around; a fact that mirrors the potential damage his Bankai is capable of. Should they not heed the warnings and enter the inner world, they risk vanishing into the strange black lava that covers most of the visible surface. Those that are lucky enough to appear on solid ground are momentarily safe until the tides of molten rock alter the exposed areas. Mumei knows the secret of the inner world, but visitors who expect to meet a humanoid spirit are quickly shown the error of their assumption when Nagareboshi reveals itself.
Shikai Appearance: Instead of being sharp like a wakizashi, it becomes thick and made of a rough, granite-like stone. The ball grows larger as it continues past the tip of the blade, creating more of the stone handle as it moves outwards. Once it reaches about eight feet long, the orb has grown to have a diameter of five-and-a-half feet. It's no longer made of black metal. Instead, the head of the mace-like weapon appears to be a meteor made of red and black stone. Small wisps of black fire escape from the cracks and fissures across the surface. Immediately, one can feel an intense heat being emitted from the weapon. Nearby flammable objects ignite without warning, potentially causing wildfires if enough debris is scattered through the area. This heat can also burn opponents upon a successful strike. The black flames begin to lick across the surface of the weapon as Mumei takes his stance - his giant mace-like Zanpakuto held in one hand, resting on his shoulder. Shikai Release Command: Obliterate. Nagereboshi Shikai Release Appearance: The staff splits and simply slims out into a matching pair of Taiko sticks. Shikai Ability: Shikai Attacks: 1. Shindou Niage, Kuroi (Impact Landing, Black Sun Strike): The first technique of Nagereboshi's Shikai form is activated by swinging the weapon in a wide arc. Once the arc is completed, the meteor-head of the mace-like weapon detaches and flies towards a target at rapid speed. As the meteor continues, it burns hotter and hotter until it reaches impact. Upon impact it explodes into a fiery inferno of black heat, rubble, and lava that twists wildly and burns everything in the area to dust. Once the head of the weapon is eliminated, another grows back in its place as if it were living stone. This technique is generally used against ranged opponents or large groups of weaker threats. The reason Mumei doesn't utilize the technique against melee opponents is that, should he miss, the head of his weapon won't regrow until the projectile makes impact. While the window of danger is only a few seconds long, it's enough to convince Mumei that it isn't worth the risk. Otherwise, this technique is one of the more reliable in his arsenal on account of its raw clearing power. It has ended many fights before they had a chance to begin.
2. Kurayami Buraindo (Blinding Darkness, Close the Holy Eyes): Like one might imagine, Nagereboshi is a fire-type Zanpakuto. Like many of that label, it's capable of emitting its own light. Upon command, Mumei can increase this light to effectively blind anyone looking directly at the head of his weapon, and daze those who manage to quickly look away. This light, however, isn't bright in the traditional sense. The light emitted from Nagereboshi is a deep crimson, almost black color. The unholy light is blinding because of the negative energy damage it causes to the nerves within the structure of the eye. This damage can be permanent if the enemy falls victim to the technique multiple times. Each subsequent exposure to the dark-light damages the receptors of the eye more and more. Those who cannot see or have protective coverings on their faces are completely immune to this technique. The increase in light does not increase the heat of the weapon or change the properties of any other technique. The only exception to the previous rule is the Shindou Niage, Kuroi, which can be enhanced by combining it with this technique. The combination allows for a blinding projectile that's more difficult to predict, dodge, or deflect. Combining the techniques decreases the intensity of both, however, and the resulting light/impact is on a lesser scale than either technique alone.
3.Hitosashi no Onikkusu Shikkoku (Dance of Jet and Onyx): Upon command, Mumei can create a wave of black flame and dust that flows outwards from the head of his mace-like weapon. This wave of tangible, burning flame can be spread like a flowing wall in one direction. Anyone caught in the wave is subject to extreme heat that only Captain-level threats or particularly hardy opponents can hope to survive. The wave bends around objects wildly until it reaches enough flat surface to stop it, or is extinguished by some other source. Water-type Zanpakuto cannot extinguish this black fire, but they can reduce the heat. It's Light-type Zanpakuto that have an increased effectiveness against the unholy darkness of the flame. When such a technique is used on the flames of the Hitosashi no Onikkuse Shikkoku, they're extinguished entirely. This leads some to believe that the fire of Nagereboshi is simply concentrated, burning malice for all living things instead of actual flame. While Mumei is evil, his Zanpakuto certainly just as evil, and he openly admits that Nagareboshi's fire is one of anger. Aside from the different weaknesses in comparison to other Fire-type Zanpakuto, the Hitosashi no Onikkusu Shikkoku functions the same; the flames burn like normal fire.
4. Munashii (Comet-tail Void): A very specific ability of Nagereboshi is to eliminate the effects of illusion-type Zanpakuto. By using this technique, any illusions caught by a strike of Mumei mace-like weapon are immediately dispelled by the dark light of the mace-head. Once the illusions are struck, the dark fissures of the weapon suck in the false images and consume them, increasing the power of Nagereboshi for a limited amount of time. This technique is mostly used against visible illusions such as mirror-images or false objects, mainly because auditory illusions are far more difficult to strike with the weapon. If a successful strike on an illusionary sound-wave does happen, however, the same rules apply and the illusion is absorbed. Because this technique is so specific, Mumei has rarely used it to full effect because of the relative rarity of illusion-type Zanpakutos and abilities. When the match-up does happen, Mumei is the first to mention that his abilities turn the tide in his favor. As of yet, no illusion-type Zanpakuto has ever been a threat to him or Nagereboshi. Mind-affecting illusions that stem from direct mental manipulation are immune to the Munashii. Luckily, such abilities are as rare as they are powerful.
Bankai Appearance: Bankai Release Appearance: Nagareboshi Meiun-Ken (Ballistic Meteor, Arm of the Doomsday Clock). To unleash his infamous Bankai - an act that would signal all informed allies to quickly clear the area - Mumei bolsters his Reiatsu and drops the mace-head of his weapon to the level of his feet. His left hand then reaches into the pockets of his jeans and pulls out a pair of sleek sunglasses, which he slides over his eyes as his black Reiatsu runs wild. Once the protective eye-wear is on, he uses all of the strength in his right arm to launch the mace-head of his weapon upwards, into the sky. The force of this movement is so strong that any clouds part and any obstructions are blown away like nothing. Once the mace-head is in the sky, everything seems to change to a shade of deep crimson; a sign of the bathing light from above. Heat begins to emanate from the hole in the sky as a mile-wide meteor appears, far above the ground. This meteor is the Bankai form of Nagereboshi. The staff-like, granite weapon that used to be the handle of the Shikai form sheds away its outer coating and reveals a thick black bo staff engraved with glowing red runes. One of these red runes appears in the middle of Mumei's neck. Once the transformation of the sword is complete, Mumei spins the bo staff around his body to intimidate his opponent before stating, "Bankai. Nagareboshi Meiun-Ken!" Those who find themselves within the mile-wide area of the meteor's path suddenly notice that they cannot leave. The gravity of the meteor creates a barrier around inevitable impact-zone that prevents escape. This is one of the main reasons that Mumei holds off using Bankai until the last possible moment. Bankai Release Command: Bankai Release Appearance: Bankai Ability: Bankai Attacks: 1. Massatsu no Juujun (Obliteration of the Meek): As soon as Bankai is released, Nagereboshi begins counting up from one - a number that echoes from the meteor above the battle. With every passing minute, the number increases, and the meteor draws closer to the battlefield. This proximity increases the heat and dark-light in the area by ever increasing factors, making it more and more dangerous to continue fighting. Once the number reaches ten - representing ten minutes since the sword was fully released - both Mumei and anyone within the impact radius will die from the force of the mile-wide meteor smashing into the ground. This ability has obviously never fully played out as Mumei is still alive. Nagereboshi cannot be sealed once Bankai is released unless either Mumei or a single marked enemy is killed. Both Mumei and this chosen enemy immediately gain a glowing red rune that marks either their throat, or, in the absence of a throat, another open part of their body. There is no conceptual way around this ability. The meteor is nigh-indestructible, the impact is massive, and the heat is enough to melt the area into glass. Any enemies who are killed but aren't marked have no effect on Nagereboshi's bloodlust, and cannot end the Bankai. This is the primary ability of Nagereboshi - it is the reason why Mumei rarely uses the full release of his weapon.
