The hazy light of predawn colored the sky a dreary gray. Jessalyn flew high on her four wings but now was circling downwards. Her flying was through for the night. She had found no new place to call home. Though she had flown all night it was in her spirit that she felt the fatigue. She regretted many things in her life and it seemed like coming to the New World was starting to become one of them.

She landed gently on the ground. As soon as she had, her bats swirled out of the darkness to flap squeaking around her head. At least that was the same here. She even thought that her cloud of bats from her homeland might have followed her to this new place. They certainly looked and sounded the same as always.

"I suppose I should just be glad that none of you have ever learned how to speak," she murmured to them in the slowly growing light.

Te had been amongst the trees of the forest again, trying to ease their sadness and pain as he always did. He shed his silver tears of blood for them instead. It was true Te had found the light within him amongst all the darkness, but the sorrow of the world still did not cease so the darkness of his past memories at time easily overwhelmed the light.

Te shook his mane as he raised his head to the sky, light was returning once again. He slowly took to the skies his black chains weighed him down, but after so many years they were a light burden, but it had been a long night. He soon was close to where his 'home' was within another section of the forest so he slowly and carefully landed and continued on the ground, his chains clinking with the slightest move.

It was soon there was another sound that reached his ears, one he wasn't used to hearing in the area....bats? But there also seemed to be something else or someone else. He found it curious, but not all that alarming as he continued on his way unsure if their paths would cross.

Jessalyn walked, keeping an eye out for places she might sleep during the day. It was a little frightening being in a strange land on her own. She had inherited the deep sleep of her family and during the day she would not wake even if shouted at. It was only through strong and persistent methods that she could be woken, which meant that a skinwalker could easily bite her throat out without her being able to react before she was dying. She needed to find a familiar or bodyguard but had no idea how to find one without putting a lot of trust in a stranger.

She blinked. Her thoughts vanished as she heard the hoof beats. She wasn't alone. She looked around quickly. There weren't any good places to run and hide if the stranger was an enemy, but she had enough open space above her to be able to fly away if she had to. "Who is-" she started, before seeing the four-winged silhouette and trailing off.

It was another angeni. She hadn't even been certain they had angeni in this strange new land. "Hello?" she asked more quietly, eyes fixed on the approaching figure.

Te finally got close enough to see not only the bats in the sky but with it there was a female voice and with it a many winged formed. He stopped for a moment in surprise at the mare. She was like him...an angeni-one of many wings. As long as he had been in these lands he had heard of others but had not yet met one. He was taken a back but soon realized he was being rude when she spoke again.

He moved forward to better see her, so he could see her more clearly and she him. When he was but a few paces away he bowed his head, chains shifting as he greeted her. "Hello....Forgive my rudeness miss, I was taken by surprise by your presence. All my time in these lands I've never met another like me. My name is Kanashimi Te. You seem lost, are alright......", he looked at her with a kind expression, but his eyes showed only sadness. She seemed to be out of place and her soul weary, he knew his fair share of that. Seeing her started to remind him of things he thought he had put far behind him, but something was inching its way back to him....

Jessalyn had a shivering moment of recognition. Four wings. Chains. Dark thick hair. She thought she was looking at her brother Vlad. It was only when she noticed that he had no kalona tail and his mane was streaked with silver that she realized she had made a mistake. The disturbed look left her face but she was still tense after the moment of deja vu.

"Hello, my name is Jessalyn Draculesti," she found herself saying automatically. Her words had a hollow ring to them that she was certain the other angeni could hear. An angeni. She thought she was supposed to be happy at finding another but she couldn't find that emotion. Angeni were no less petty than other soquili. Just because he was her kind didn't mean that he was her friend.

"I'm not lost," she continued. "I'm just passing through." That much was almost true, at least.

"I see....", was his only reply. His words were as empty and hollow as hers, he could not shake the creeping memory of his past master...the master that taught him so many years ago, the only Angeni he knew, the one who sealed his fate so many years ago. He felt as if he was staring him in the face again and it was almost frightening.

As Te felt Jessalyn's body tense so was his, he tried to keep calm, reminding himself that the past was indeed past, but her pale body and many wings was such a reminder of his Master he was a hard thing to do. He struggled to focus his mind elsewhere and find more words to ease the tension. If she was passing through, lost or not something seemed to be weighing heavily on her. Finally with a shake of his head and folding of his wings(as best he could), readjusting the placement of his chains he managed to speak again. "It is a pleasure to meet you Lady Draculesti, you seem to have traveled far. Your soul seems weary...."

The chains garbing this angeni still made her wary. She didn't understand why he would wear them by choice, and why he hadn't found someone to take them off by now if it was not his choice. It was a strange statement to be making, and she wondered what they meant to him. She was also a little curious about whether he was domained and what his domain might be. Whatever it was, it seemed to give him no more joy than hers gave her.

"I'm just tired," she said. He spoke too directly. Her soul was weary but she didn't know how to react when she was reminded of it. It wasn't as if she could change that for the purpose of the conversation. "Tell me," she changed the topic. "Are there kalonas in this area?" She didn't want to settle anywhere near kaloanas. She'd had enough of them for one lifetime.

He shifted on his feet realizing his forwardness with the stranger. He was always this way, he stated the pain and anguish he saw in the world maybe it was because he refused to face his own sadness so he would face others instead? Regardless it was rude of him and he should learn to chose his words better, "I am sorry for my forward words. My eyes easily see sadness and pain and I can easily see when one is in need of assistance, but it does not change the fact that it is rude of me. I do apologize dear lady."

He bowed low in apology showing how sincere he was, but it still did not change the fact that more bared heavy on her soul as it did on his, but it was not his place. The sky grew brighter still and at her question he thought on it for only but a short time. "Kalonas....no. None reside in this area. I've rarely encountered any other soquili in this area, which added to my surprise at me meeting you. If you seek shelter...there is a secluded cave not terribly far from here, where I live. From there it has a sister cave that it used to connect to a few miles away from that...."

Sadness and pain. In need of assistance. Was that how she appeared to another angeni? Jessalyn stiffened with repressed anger. All those years she had lived with the Draculestis being told that she could not survive on her own. Now she heard the other angeni speak and interpreted his words as a variation on the others. He saw her as weak and incapable of even managing her own emotions. She had tried so hard to prove otherwise, but apparently it wasn't enough.

"Thank you," she said stiffly. "But I would not wish to intrude upon your territory. I can keep traveling until I find somewhere more secluded, so I don't force the inhabitants of the area to assist me in my sadness."

Te stiffened slightly as she did when she spoke, but he soon relaxed his body and gave calm, but still saddening smile. He could understand her feelings in his own way...some of them at least, but others he could not. He could see she had been through something none could understand as he had been through much that no other could truly understand.

He calmly took a step forward and glanced to the brightening sky. He looked back to Jessalyn with a less sad smile, "I have no territory...all you see here belongs to the Earth. This is the trees domain, not mine. I am merely it's guest and as it has welcomed me and protected me I feel that it shall do the same for you. There are many secluded caves in the area like the one I mentioned. The forest can keep one well protected."

Jessalyn's wary stance did not lessen. She didn't like this angeni who told her she was sad and in need of help. Though his more recent statements were more neutral she still felt defensive about what he might be thinking about her. Her mind ran over the cruel things she had been told throughout her life. It could be that he was no different than the others she had met and known. He was another angeni, after all. It was her sister the angeni who had declared her forsaken.

"I will only stay in the area while I sleep in the day," she told him coolly. She didn't like the idea of the chained angeni knowing where she rested in the day but she needed to find somewhere quickly. She could move on the following night, find somewhere that no one could find her.

He would not take resentment to her stiff attitude, he did not blame her. It was natural, he expected it of her. He had seen enough of hurt and anguish in the world to know one can not so easily trust...not even one of their own kind. His thoughts went back to his own master in both respect and fear. She had obviously been through something...but it was not something to be shared with anyone, let alone a stranger in passing.

"As you wish.....I will not press the issue. We all have our time and pace we move....As we all may bleed...each wound and scar heals differently and some must find a way to begin to heal alone.", he had found a way to come back to being forward again. He didn't mean to be rude but his sad eyes reflected his past....the remembrance and ache he felt in his soul. He knew there was nothing he could do to help Jessalyn, not now not yet maybe soon he could.

Jessalyn's brow crinkled and then went smooth. She grew more frustrated but didn't want Kanashimi Te to catch wind of it. He would probably just take it as another weakness that needed to be healed, for that is what she saw as well. Bleeding. He likened her internal wounds to bleeding. The comparison was strange... because if she was bleeding she ought to be able to stop it with her domain. Unfortunately, such things were not to be with wounds of the spirit.

"Should I assume then that you are bleeding in your soul, then?" she asked flatly of the other angeni. He had markings on him suggesting bleeding cuts. If they were any indication, then she imagined that his spirit was full of half healed scars. Just like herself.
