His talk with Riley awhile back had already put him a little on edge. That speech she gave did not help too much with that either. People were becoming a little complacent, not that he could blame them. A lot of new students had come by and were pretty oblivious to what had happened before after all.

Jericho's days attempting the Trial by Fire obstacle course told him that he definitely could use some work. Between that and the fact that he had been killed on the island by traps, he figured that something needed to be done to keep people's skills sharp. A bit of survival training in a sense. This sounded like just the sort of thing for the Fitness Club.

The idea was to set up a course.. one that wasn't on fire so that the undead wouldn't be so put off by it. Also, one on campus so it'd be more easily accessible by the students. There was a small problem with this plan though. If his attempt at making a robot at Mad Science was any indicator, he couldn't really build anything all that well. Some of his ancestors might be skilled blacksmiths, but that wasn't really a skill passed down. The course would need to be stable and not fall apart while in use.

However, he knew of one guy who could do just that. A part of him couldn't really believe he was going to go to him of all people considering their rough history, but Christof was the only one he knew that could do the job. Well.. he supposed there could be Barth as well... maybe. But he didn't really feel like relying on a Sloth demon for making an obstacle course.

The dragon didn't know where the Igor lived, but he knew one place the guy could be. Jericho made his way to the Mad Science room, peeking in to see if the patchwork was anywhere around.

"Christof?" he called out while looking about.

There was a clattering of tools and the sound of boots on the cement floor as the hunchback suddenly appeared on the far side of the classroom, closest to the array of tools hanging on the walls and in the drawers. A fresh contraption that was not a robot, but clearly not finished, had been moved there. It was getting close though, so close- at least closer than when Charlie had stumbled on him behind the dorms.

At the sight of Jericho, though, his expression soured. He shrugged out of the grease-stained white coat, setting it on a workbench as he lurched towards the dragon politely, waiting for whatever it was he wanted.

And hoped he didn't tell a faculty member how much he had been taking advantage of the room. Well, Master Malodore had been enjoying the use of the Organics Lab, right? Right. No harm done, and if the dragon DID tattle on him... there was always the Shovel.

Oh good, Christof was here. It looked like he was working on something or had been, judging the contraption that was in the room. Jericho saw that look on the igor's face and it seemed that there indeed was no love lost between them. Well, fair enough. At least he had his attention.

"I need a favor from you," he started, "Not really sure what I can repay you with right now but we'll figure that out. But.. basically I need something big built."

The dragon waited to see if he still had the other student's attention. If so, he'd elaborate more on what his plans were. But if Christof was going to brush him off, then he'd go elsewhere.

Christof's brows furrowed further as the Dragon explained. Something big built? His hands rose to begin to sign, but remembered the Dragon wouldn't understand... drat. Alright, then... his expression softened a moment, still skeptical as he motioned for Jericho to follow him to the nearby chalkboard before scratching out: What sort of big something?

As for repayment... they could cross that bridge later. He was beginning to learn more from Barth than mechanics, and it was oddly easy to put it to use.

Having Christof's interest potentially, Jericho grinned while trying to figure out where to start.

"I think it's safe to say that students new and old could use a little extra practice with getting around. You remember how things were on the island. That place was a jacking death trap," he began, "I think an obstacle course would do the job. Nothing that would seriously hurt people, but something that would still push people to their limits... testing speed, agility, and strength."

Pausing there, he looked to the side at the thing Christof had been working on. Wait.. was that a motorcycle? Eh, it didn't matter too much right now.

"It'll need to be challenging, but not quite impossible. And it'll need to be sturdy enough that it can withstand people running through it without breaking."

The hunchback listened, eyes locked on Jericho's face as he took it all in. After a few moments, he wrote out: For Fitness Club? Well, if it was for Mistress, really... an obstacle course? He had heard about the Trial by Fire but had stayed well away from that inferno for understandable reasons. Stitched lips pursing, he moved to the center of the chalkboard to write out the key points

Now he was left wishing he could have studied the fabled burning obstacle course for ideas... but it sounded like the Dragon already had some things in mind. Building them shouldn't be a problem... and technically neither would the junkyard runs it would probably entail if he had a Dragon at his disposal to carry things back...

His mind spinning, he began making some notes until the chalkboard read:

Speed
xoxTiming needed.
xoxRace?
xox??

Agility
xoxWhat sort of agility?
xoxSharp Blades in our final
xoxFlying should not be allowed

Strength
xoxLifting? Moving?

Will need help collecting materials. Often find inspiration in Spare Parts.

Letting everything sit in and digest for Christof, Jericho watched as he began to scribble onto the chalkboard. It looked like he was outlining some ideas for the course overall. He grinned more widely now that he was sure that the Igor was on the job.

"I don't think a race would be needed, but there should be some sort of time limit for sure. If they don't reach the end goal by the time it's up, they fail their run," Jericho said, beginning to address the bullet points, "Hm... Sharp blades could be good if we can get the clearance. If not, we can have swinging hammers instead. And yes flying should not be allowed. But.. possibly some sections requiring balance. Since they'd be timed, they'd have to be pretty good on their feet to not topple over. Perhaps some other areas where a sort of jump is needed. It kinda ties in with the speed over all."

Staring at the strength, he rubbed his chin, thinking.

"Lifting would work, as well as like... climbing sections where it'd focus on upper body strength. Like.. where they'd be hanging sort of so they can't really use their legs or tail to propel themselves," he said, "We can split up the course into different areas that test out different skillsets specifically. This way people can take a short break between each stage too."

It seemed he had been thinking about this for a little bit.

"As far as materials go, I'll help out however I can. I... can carry quite a bit with my true form and all."

As Jericho listed out his thoughts, the Igor took quick notes, adding to the chalkboard before falling quiet to think.

Finally, he added a personal note:
Should plan out each area and make proper list before supplies hunting.
True form v. useful.
Once we know what sort of things we'll need
Can go to junk yard. Good prices if you avoid the dogs.
Again, true form v. useful.

Waiting for Christof to finish writing again, Jericho thought it over and nodded. It all sounded pretty good. By good prices and dogs, he had a feeling that the Igor meant 'free' things. He wasn't too sure about the thought of stealing, but... it was junk. Who would sell junk?

"Alright, that sounds good," he nodded before pausing, "I think two or three stages will work for this. One that primarily focuses on speed and agility, one that primarily focuses on strength, and one that's a bit of the mix. It might all have to be somewhat elevated... if people fall off the course, they're disqualified."

With that in mind, he began to think of what things could work to push people.

Christof nodded, adjusting his notes appropriately before adding in:

How soon will you need it?

And how would they orchestrate the gathering of supplies, he wondered. The Chopper was no where near ready, and the Doom Buggy was still out for blood. Until they tamed it, it wouldn't be much help. He sighed, glancing back to Jericho with a thoughtful look. At the very least, it would be a sign of good faith on Mistress's behalf.

Jericho paused at that question. That was one thing he didn't really consider all that much before.

"I don't have a specific time frame in mind actually. The sooner the better, but there's no exact 'due date' if you get what I mean," he replied, "This is more or less a side project, after all."
PostPosted: Mon Sep 12, 2011 2:07 pm

Christof nodded, attention returning to the chalkboard rather than the Dragon with feigned disinterest as he wrote:

Whenever ready to gather supplies, let me know.
Will need Parts on hand to begin building, obvsly.

"Alright. When are you available? I'm pretty much ready whenever," Jericho said. It seemed that Christof had another project he was currently working on after all. As for himself, he didn't really have anything in particular outside of his usual schedule of classes and being a trainer for some students.

Christof turned back to the chalkboard thoughtfully for a moment before scribbling out: Tonight? Late is more discrete.

"Sounds good to me. Let's meet up at the school gates then later at 11," Jericho nodded. Seeing how that was all taken care of, he went on and left Christof to finish working on his things.

Later that night at the designated time, the dragon stood by the gates a little early, waiting for the patchwork. He had an idea where the junkyard was, but he hadn't really been there before. It would be ideal if they went together, especially if there were guard dogs like Christof had hinted.
