Everything they'd been doing for the last few weeks was all about to pay off. Jin had dressed in a traditional Kandyan dance costume right before class. Of course he got some strange looks from some of his classmates about the beaded chest piece, and still a mostly exposed torso, but as soon as the food was passed out, it didn't seem like anyone cared. They'd rehearsed this enough to know exactly what the other was doing and when. The presentation itself was like a dance, even before Evan started talking about traditional dances, and Jin began a demonstration while he spoke.
It was going perfectly.

Evan spoke fluently and was only minimally distracted as the presentation wore on. He grew anxious before before their presentation, but as it wore on and everyone paid more attention to Jin and the food, the less he began to worry. He had rehearsed with Jin a lot in preparation of this day and everything had been going so smoothly. He didn't need to look at his partner as he danced; his words fit perfectly with his partners actions.
As Jin began to finish his dance, so too did Evan wrap up his speech. His hazel eyes captured the audience, even as they chewed on the sticky candy. He motioned his hand to the dancer, just as they had practiced, cuing the end of the speech and the dance would end soon after. He exhaled deeply, with a smile on his face. Jin had really outdone himself.

Everyone had seemed to enjoy the presentation. Sure, there had been a lot of talking, but no one else had dancing and music. A couple people had brought food- store bought though. Jin was pretty sure that that they had the best presentation because over the last few days, it was less of a chore, and more of a fun experience. Sure, they may have been doing things about the country Jinju was from, but if Evan hadn't enjoyed it, then it would have been as dry as every other presentation.
In a way, Evan made it great. Jin had found his eager enthusiasm infection, and despite the rocky start, he had really enjoyed the boy's company. But now the project was over... He hopped Evan still wanted to be friends. Maybe hang out more.

Evan was sure that they had gotten the best grade on their project. Even the teacher was amazed at their hard work and thorough research. Sure, Jin was from the country they were talking about, but he didn't just sit by and let Jin do all the work! The blond haired boy was there every step of the way to do whatever he could- be it suggesting ideas or writing down the information.
Now what was there left to do? Evan enjoyed hanging out with Jin, but did Jin just put up with him for the sake of the project? Evan couldn't see how it would hurt to ask to spend some more time with Jin. "Hey Jin!" He approached rather bubbly and energetic. "How's about we go celebrate a job well done with some ice cream?" He gave Jin a wide, hopeful smile, anticipating their day.

While he was lost in his own thoughts, he hadn't noticed Evan approach, so it took a moment for his questioned offer to sink in. Jinju's head snapped up and he looked at Evan, a slightly amused "Bwuh?" escaping him before he realized it. "That sounds great! How about my treat, since you put up with so much from me on the project?"

Evan couldn't help but let a smirk slip. "You'll pay for me? It must be my lucky day!" He gave a sigh of relief, thanking his lucky stars that he hadn't made a fool of himself. His hands found themselves fumbling with the corners of his uniform; a childhood habit he didn't quite get rid of. "Do you have any place in mind? Because I know a good place that isn't too far." He glanced in the direction of the shop in question as he gestured to it, as if he could see it from where they were standing. His eyes fell back to Jin, "But there isn't any need to pay for me."

"Sure. Why not?" Jin frowned slightly that Evan seemed to not want him to pay. "Can't say though, that there's really any place in particular that I would want to go. I don't go out for icecream very often." He watched him play with his uniform a moment, and smiled.

"I know a good shop!" Evan knew about a quaint shop that a plethora of people visited throughout the day. The lines moved fast and most of the hustle and bustle were taking their sweets home or on the go. They didn't sell just ice cream, but they also sold little sweets that the owner would decide to whip up every so often. The curly haired boy was just about lost in his thoughts when he noticed the boy again, smiling. "I'll get my things and meet you back here as soon as I can!" He gave the boy a small nod and walked off to gather his things.
------
It wasn't long before the boys had reached their destination. Evan's glanced down at Jin every so often as they talked smiling at how he seemed to tower over him. "And here we are." You could almost taste the sweets in the air as they approached and as his senses caught it, he quickened his pace to open the door.

Jin was amazed at just how perky Evan could be. He thought that the blond was just excited about their project before. But now that was over. This was... a social life. And he was just as bouncy- no. He was even bouncier, happier now then he had been before. It was kind of refreshing, since so many of the guys seemed to get dragged down by all the school work, the papers, the projects, the dorms, the rules, the uniforms.
Evan was a nice change.
Of course he'd never say this out loud. So as they walked and talked, Jin kept his musings to himself, but carried on with Evan until they reached the shop. He blinked as the other skipped forward and stepped inside. Jin shook his head before following.
It sure did seem busy. But it was moving fast, and not too many people lingered when their orders were filled. "So we going to sit here and chow down?"

Evan nodded his head, letting his blond curls bounce around for a moment. "I like eating at places like this. It's fun to watch the busy people." He shrugged, turning to get in line. "Do you see anything you want?" The moved up as one person took their serving of ice cream. Evan was already making his mind up- or trying at least. Sherbert or Rocky Road? The line inched closer until they were next causing Evan to grow a little antsy. "Ok, ok." He turned to Jin, "I think I've made up my mind." He laughed, just as they were called up. "That'll be a single scoop of Sherbert for me and...?" His hazel eyes looked to Jin for his selection.

Ah! there were so many choices, and Evan was talking pretty fast like he was already on a sugar rush. Of course he didn't know what he wanted. He didn't hardly know what they had! He was trying to read the flavors. So many sounded good. Chocolate caramel swirl? Maybe strawberry marbled marshmallow. That sounded interesting. They were suddenly in line to order. When Evan looked at him, the soft, confused "Bwuh?" escaped him again before he quickly replied "Strawberry." After a moment's hesitation, he corrected himself. "I mean, the one with the marshmallows. A single."
The cashier smiled at them with a wink, and Jinju found himself maybe a little flustered by that look. What? Was it because he was short? Without thinking, Jin paid for the treats before Evan had a chance to.

Evan had to hide a snicker as Jin ordered. He covered his mouth, but the corners of a smile still peaked through. While the curly haired boy tried to conceal his laughter, Jin had paid for their treats. He frowned a bit thinking that he was perfectly capable of paying for his own, but when the two treats were handed to the boys he dismissed those thoughts from his mind and focused on the ice cream at hand.
Yum....
"Where do you want to sit?" Evan asked his dark haired friend as he sized up the large scoop of Sherbert with much anticipation. He watched for any cracks in his cone or any dripping areas, promptly catching it before it could reach his hand. He took a look around at the few people sitting on the inside- even less on the outside- waiting for Jin's answer.

Jin took a quick survey around the little shop. "How about in the corner?" He asked, pointing with one hand, the other reaching for some napkins to take with them, just in case. He did, however, smirk when he saw how excited Evan was about the icecream, and about how he had managed to pay without Evan protesting.
Wait, why so happy to spend money on this guy? He was trying to save. Damn it. Oh well. His new friend was worth it. It was cute how child like he was right now. Money was soon forgotten as they sat at the table.
"This is a nice place." Jinju said before taking one slow lick of his icecream. Hey, this was pretty good. He'd have to come back here some time. "You come here often? I hardly had time to look at the menu, you just seemed to know exactly what to get."

Evan easily slid over to his seat in the corner, plopping down in his seat. He took a few minutes to think about Jin's question while he licked his ice cream. "Well," He adjusted in his seat so that he didn't look so formal. He placed his elbows on the, one hand resting on his cheek while he licked his ice cream. He continued after getting comfortable. "I'm not here enough so that the workers know my name, but I do like to come here to treat myself." He laughed, "Like today! All our hard work payed off and we did great on that presentation." He smiled after catching the running ice cream. "I'm glad we ended up as partners. I had a lot of fun! How about you?" He watched his friend carefully for any sign of doubt.

A treat once in a while did sound nice. Jin supposed he'd have to come here more often then. As he listened to Evan talk, and watched him eat his icecream, Jin would find himself glad for his darker complexion as it hid the faint warmth that found it's way to his cheeks.
"Yeah, It was fun. I think most people probably would have gotten annoyed with me, or thought I was a know-it-all... at least, if I'd still been working on India and Sri Lanka. Who knows? I could have gotten stuck with Cambodia." He shrugged, then noticed his icecream was starting to drop onto his hand. Jin hurried up and started licking at the sticky substance.
