Name: Able-May Smith Nicknames: Abs, May, AM.
Age: 32 Birthday: January 6th Sign: Capricorn Bloodtype: O+ Gemstone: Garnet
Fav. Food: Vanilla milkshake and fries, garlic mashed potatoes, and her mother's Ice Cream Social 7 Layer Dip.
Hated Food: Celery. Above all things celery.
Hobbies: Knitting - What? It's relaxing and compared to her other hobbies takes a lot less concentration. Sometimes you need a creative outlet that doesn't take all of your brain matter to complete. You do not want to know about her sock collection.
Pole Aerobics - An ex-girlfriend once convinced her after a rather deviant night on the town that with her body she'd make an excellent pole dancer. Not wanting to actually strip she took some classes for pole aerobics, which is really the exact same thing as being a stripper without actually being a stripper. Not that she has a thing against erotic dancers mind you-- Anyway, she's fairly good at it but that's not something anyone outside of her immediate class will ever know.
Self-tattoos - It's never -just- a job when you're a tattoo artist. It's a life, a passion, a hobby, AND a great way to make money. Able-May got into tattoos young. She was always drawing elaborate dragons, flowers, or abstract doodles on her friends bodies in high school. Taking basic art classes in college led nowhere until she met a friend that was apprenticing at a place called Ink of Destiny Tattoos. He introduced her to his boss and mentor and hooked her up with an apprenticeship of her own. It's been her only real love ever since.
Church - Able-May is intensely attached to her faith. Every week is started on Sunday at service and then faith-share group. She never misses an opportunity to help her Church reach out to the community and is present for every Christian holiday. It's a tradition and heart-felt belief system instilled in her by her family and one she clings to as equally as she does her blood-relations.
Clubbing - Okay. So it's not really a hobby so much a lifejob related obsession. The various clubs throughout Destiny City are chock full of inspiration, young talent, and booze that it's impossible for Able-May to not want to sit and watch people dance for hours on end. She never actually dances herself right away, but once she's got enough juice in her veins her caboose is as loose as the next gal's.
Virtues: Job-minded - So she likes to party... Able knows that she'd never get customers again if she showed up to work unable to hold a stable hand and do her damn job. The respect she'd lose in herself alone is enough to keep her sober enough to get to IoDT in the mornings clean, refreshed, and ready for her next client. She's never going to make it to the cover of Inked Magazine if she doesn't think of her career before silly things like alcohol and shaking her rump.
Humorous - An easy smile on her lips and a sharp mind behind it has always gotten her the title "Funny Girl" from friends and family. Able-May particularly enjoys the irony of being compared to the Barbara Streisand film, and her ability to find jokes and witticisms in almost anything serves her well. First time clients don't freak out as much if they have someone to laugh with, exes are more likely to not kick you in the vag if they didn't think you were that serious to begin with, and most importantly it helps deal with the many-many-many obstacles life throws at you.
Charitable - Growing up Able-May knew she had it all. Her parents were handsomely paid lawyers, her grandfather was the owner of the biggest limousine and luxury vehicles services and dealership in Destiny City(a title her brother now has), and her grandmother was from old money in California. Growing up surrounded by money was all fine and dandy but her parents were always keen on reminding her "God has no need of money in heaven", so weekends were always filled with buying and donating new clothes to the homeless shelters and job centers. Holidays were made of spending the whole day and night fixing and serving homemade food in the soup kitchens-- These are all things she takes time out of her year to keep up on. She always keeps spare change in her pockets for Salvation Army buckets when she passes them and is currently working on getting the grants and city permission to start an Ink for the Cure day in October.
Organized - This is more of a forced character trait where Able-May is concerned. If she doesn't buckle down and MAKE herself stay organized she would never get anything done and her life would fall to pieces. Her home, parlor, and purse are filled with all kinds of calendars and color-coded notepads. All dates and papers related to personal responsibilities are color coded green, all job related everything is coded in purple, and all charity dates are recognizable by blue. For each the most immediate tasks are underlined in red. Her desks and workspaces are immaculate, all of her drawers are labeled, and she swears by those cubby-shelf things you can buy at any DiY store. There's no way she keeps up with all of the cleaning and filing herself-- But that's what employees are for.
Flaws: VERY. EASILY. DISTRACTED. - Above the inside of the door to Ink of Destiny is a sign that reads "Please keep all unnecessary noise to a minimum! Headphones for music are appreciated." Directly under that is another sign outlining the rule that there may be no more than one non-client friend in the room at any time. If Able-May doesn't enforce these rules she knows she's going to mess up and lose her customers. In her day to day she is most frequently the person that will get distracted mid-sentence by the penny she just stepped over, or a bird passing overhead, or quite possibly the a** of the person that just walked by. She doesn't do it to be rude but past where it effects her chosen profession she doesn't really notice she's doing it.
It took a lot of pointed looks and scoldings from her mentor for her to figure out it was an issue at all.
Chain smoker - Yeah, yeah. She knows her body is her temple and yadda yadda but Able-May doesn't care. Her grandmother was a cigar smoker and the smell of tobacco as always been a great source of comfort to her. When she discovered clove cigarettes she thought she'd hit the nicotine lover's jackpot. It is not by far healthy for herself or those around her and the fact that she just doesn't want to stop is completely at odds with her concern for others; its something she'll have to deal with but as far as she's concerned right now she'll cross that bridge some other time. It's slowly eating away at her.
Arachnophobia - Deep down to the very root of what the phobia really is Able-May embodies. She doesn't squeal and smash wildly at any old spider that comes her way- Oh no no. No. At the sight or indication of any arachnid this girl's brain just shuts the ******** down. Reduced to a solidified human pole of tears, clammy sweat, and swelling throat Able-May becomes totally unresponsive to whatever she was doing before hand. Being jolted from her break-down can result in violence and her inability to function for the rest of the day. She sees a psychiatrist once a month and a therapist once a week to help with medicating and talking out the problem and ways to work through it. She'd like to say that she's doing better but for the most part she really isn't. This has affected her at work twice and after the second time she invested in sonic vermin control and pays for the building to be fumigated once a year. Since then she's expanded those efforts to her home.
In any setting outside of the confines of her home and tattoo parlor where an arachnid(this involves scorpians) becomes involved Able-May will be rendered totally useless. She has medication she can take right away to help her get past being unable to do simple things like walking away and talking, but she would rely on whomever she was with for help with that.
Occupation: Tattoo artist and business owner.
Business Description: "Ink of Destiny Tattoos: Destiny City's leading tattoo parlor! Custom piercings coming soon!" The parlor once belonged to Able-May's mentor and nearing his retirement he made her his partner. Upon his leaving the trade he gave the original building and rights to the name and wished her luck. She's since moved from the two-story business flat into a triple-roomed building with spacious waiting and reception area. She's currently working on hiring a piercer and getting her own piercing license.

Physical Description: Eyes: Almond-shaped and dark-muddy teal. She always wears eyeshadow in gold across her lids; choosing to doll them up with fake eyelashes when she goes clubbing at night.
Hair: Chin length "cabaret" bob with one thin section layered and framing her face directly at the front. She likes to keep her bangs long and straight-cut. Constantly dying her hair but her go-to color is deep plum with fire-orange accents.
Face: Oval with a square jaw. She has high-cheek bones and thin lips. Her nose is a little long and wide with freckles covering the entire bridge and cheeks. Able-May never goes anywhere without some kind of very bright lipstick applied.
Clothes: Anything a little edgy but still girly and able to show off the consider work she's put into her tattoos. T-Shirts with cap sleeves and deep v-necks, knee-length pencil skirts or high-waisted shorts. Her shoes need to be practical, so nothing over a 2-inch heel, and she loves funky patterns. Unnaturally colored animal prints paired with traditional fabrics and patterns makes for a very happy Able-May. Around her neck is ALWAYS a cross in silver or gold. She likes bright colors and traditional tweeds and things.
Tattoos: I realize that her being covered in tattoos is ridiculous, so all I ask is that she have a lined dragon blowing watercolor looking flames down her right arm and on the simple line "Love is enough" in a flowy script-look on her chest. Preferably above the heart. If you want to add more ink to her that's cool.
