Finally, after what seemed an eternity, Almas was back among other Stars again. Not that she'd minded the trip with Riad here, oh no, that had been wonderful in its own way, but Almas really craved being with others in the plurality, a multiplicity of others to communicate with. And now, she was finally here.

Almas had been only slightly surprised and very delighted to hear that there were other dancers in the herd. She was going off to meet them, in hopes that they would accept her. If they did, she'd have friends again, fellow performers, most likely mares, and they could perform together and stay together at night and such. The world was looking up...provided they accepted her.

In her excitement, the bells she wore jingled with a fragile new hope. It had been even longer since she lost her troupe in that storm. A half-mad dream was in her heart, that maybe, just maybe, one of the other mares were here, maybe Adira, she was the sort to survive, right? Sensibility, which Almas did have, to some extent, told her that she was lucky enough to survive, meet Riad, and make it here, so odds were very slim that the Signs of the Zodiac would let her meet the others again here. Luck to this point made her confident and hopeful, but guaranteed nothing.

Looking up, she realized she had arrived in the area where the other commoners were staying, including the dancers. Almas looked around and noted how deserted it was so far. Well, the herd did start recently, that was fair, but she'd thought there might be more commoners by now. Apparently not, but it looked like a dancer was here...with a colt. A colt that looked an awful lot like her...and the mare, from the back, looked like Adira....

"Ummm, excuse me, I'm a new dancer in the Anuyidani'Danayi Herd...and...well...uhhh...I'm...ummm...are you Adira?" she called out, ending with the question that had her heart in her mouth.

User ImageIn the shade of the oasis trees a beautiful dark eyed chestnut mare stood over her son, the mare stood in the commoner's garden staring out to the distance, the herd was so young and there were so few still. Riad and Badr were the only two who ventured from the oasis to find other candidates to join the herd, however this time Riad had brought back, at least from what she'd heard to be another dancer. So Adira was here waiting with her son, though she only wished there was some place she could just leave him to entertain himself or someone else.

With no caretakers in the herd yet, Adira now had to rear her own son which unfortunately took time away from other things, like dancing. The art was part of her and how she lived off the patronage of those who watched. Instead she was here watching and making sure her son wouldn't get into trouble like his father, the Nova. Though Badr had some Poor points he was an interesting male and Adira couldn't say she disliked the short time she spent with him, but she didn't want to be saddled with a child and it seemed neither did he. Since she was a mare her child stayed with her.

Though eventually if he had some talent she would teach him how to dance, perhaps she would too begin the troupe having been separated from the other three mares in it, by the stars, above that was quite the time they had together, they never left each other’s side but that all changed and fast one night. Lost in her own thoughts Adira didn't hear the either the question or bells of Almas.

"Mother." the young voice called to the chestnut mare, “Mother that mare is calling you.” The colt flicked his tail irritably trying to get her attention.

“What is it Taahir?” hearing familiar bells Adira looked up from her son "Oh Almas!" the chestnut mare exclaimed "Yes it is me," the mare smiled. "How fate should have it we meet again like this."Adira moved to welcome and greet Almas, her bells chimed and jingled as she moved "Oh how have you been I haven't seen you since the night of our separation."

User Image Taahir snorted and rolled his eyes, mares. His mother was always girly around other mares, and strangely flirtatious around other stallions, he didn't understand why but it bothered him. Now he’d never get to do anything, Taahir had met his father once and felt a great dislike for him seeing him flirt with another of the new arrivals, Taahir had been learning of the herd’s ways as he continued to grow.

He did know however he'd never attain a rank above the commoner, both is mother and father were dishonorable which shamed him though he had done nothing wrong. He only noticed through glances the others gave him and his mother. He still didn't understand the significance of it, he was quite happy as he was with his mother, except when she started talking. Taahir pushed out away from his mother and laid down beside the tree they stood in the shade of. Taahir knew he would be here a while. Mother loved to talk, and this mare and her must have a lot of catching up to do.

Taahir glanced at the sun then she shadow of the tree for a time, he'd watch the shadow move and see how long mother would talk. He was bored but he couldn't just simply go anywhere, his mother had told him. There was a place for everyone.

Almas almost squealed with delight at seeing her beloved old friend, though seeing Adira with a colt of her own surprised her. In retrospect, it shouldn't've been that surprising, since they'd definitely been separated long enough for a mare to carry and bear a foal in.

"Fate's been terribly kind to me. First, I found an oasis, then I met Riad, who was on his way to join this herd, then he offered to take me with, and now I've found you again," Almas bubbled, too caught up in a wave with her own happiness to really worry about her friend's situation, having a son and no lifemate and having to care for said son all alone.

"So, getting this lucky, I'd say I've been good, but it's also true that I've been terribly lonely. With a proper herd and most especially you, Adira, everything's all right again." Almas had been the shyest in the troupe, despite being a gifted dancer who loved what she did. Taking a breath, she peeked at the cute chestnut colt. "So, you had a kid. He seems cute and caring, from what I've seen so far. Spill?" It wasn't exactly easy to keep secrets from other mares in a small dance troupe, doubly so without destroying the troupe, but Almas' grandmother, who was born in a herd in Dreamspace, had said that secrets were often kept more easily in a fully fledged herd than in a small dance troupe.

“Fate has surely smiled upon our meeting again” Adira smiled; always the quiet one Almas had always adored foals, that hadn't changed one bit which Adira was glad for. "His father is Badr Basim one of the traders, it happened quite by accident really that scoundrel knows no bounds." Adira gave a snort of disgust. The comment was half true but the sweet Almas didn’t need to know the rest. Badr already had a bad reputation for thing like that. Adira had heard he tried to flirt with the queen, the great king she was sure would have had something to say about that. But even knowing the circumstances of his birth Taahir was a good colt and always did as she asked.

Taahir looked back at the white mare “My name is Taahir.” The colt said as haughtily as he could to the mare assumed he was a sweet colt, he hated it when people just assumed anything, that he would be like his mother, or he would be like his father. Taahir didn’t want to be like either nor did he understand why his mother and father had done as they did. Taahir received a quieting glance from his mother and snorted looking through the bush as though there was something interesting there. “I’m not cute.” The colt whispered under his breath.

"I'm surprised you haven't found a stallion yourself to have foals of your own." Adira chided playfully raising her brow. “Is that Riad not a suitable stallion bringing you all the way here?” the mare smirked “from what I saw he looks like a fine stallion.” Not that it was too hard to see the brightly coloured feathers from afar. “Have you nothing else to tell of your adventure.” She prompted looking into some sort of detail of what she thought of the stallion she had spent time with. Gossip was a key thing amongst mares after all.

“Mother!” Taahir snorted, not again. She had better not be thinking of trying to impress another stallion, being unexpected he could see if he had another brother once he was grown he would be the one looking after it, Taahir didn’t want that.

Adira simply laughed the action shaking her bells chiming to her laughter “You are safe for now my son.” The mare promised before looking back at Almas. “I too have missed you sweet Almas.” It had been too long since she had been in the company of her troupe. “Perhaps if fate would have it both Mahaila and Misaira will join us here.” wouldn’t that be grand all four of them together again.

“It’s the for now I’m worried about.” the colt mumbled before staring away once more.

Almas inclined her head to Taahir with a smile for him. She did love foals, and the sight of him reminded him that she didn't have anyone, really, aside from the troupe and the herd. "Nice to meet you, Taahir. You've got your mother's grace and style of movement, but more boyish. I think you'll make your mother and your eventual lifemate proud," she said, aware that those in the desert prized very highly lifemating and that his father wasn't ever going to be a proper father and didn't seem like the lifemating type, if his father had knowingly and willingly had a fling with his mother. Adira wasn't the type to willingly have a fling; flirt, maybe, have a one night stand, no. Foals were a serious commitment requiring a steady lifemate in the troupe, so it should be no different here. As for the comment about not cute...Almas opted to ignore it.

"No, I haven't. Riad is very sweet, but he's the sort to always be adventuring. I don't think he's ready to settle down, and whenever he is, I don't think he's the one for me. He might settle down with me out of kindness, but I do want love to be there, too," she added, a little sad. She tossed her fine head to clear the touch of regret from her heart. "No, nothing very much. Riad spoke of his adventures during the evenings and very politely walked quietly with me here, stopping each night at a different oasis. The oases were all very beautiful and Riad's stories were all very wonderful, but I think he could tell those stories better than I could." While gossip was the keystone of relationships between mares, quiet Almas had been the type to collect gossip and share very little of her own and almost nothing of others, unless it clearly concerned her.

She smiled and nuzzled Adira. "I've missed you all, Mahaila and Misaira, too. Maybe they'll find their way here and join us again," she said with a laugh, her golden bells chiming. She laughed again at Taahir and Adira's exchange. Adira would not be able to have and care for more children until Taahir was grown up, and even then, she would most likely wait for a good father and lifemate to come along to support her with any future foals.

Lifemate him? "I don't want to; having a girl to take care of is stupid!" Taahir retorted flicking his chestnut tail irritated. There were so few stallions he could learn from and fewer foals for him to play with, as far as he knew he was the only one now that the princes had grown and fully begun their duties. Not that he would have been allowed to play with them anyway they were royal. But being alone caused him an inability to have real fun with other foals. It wasn’t fun being alone.

"Taahir Hush mind yourself," Adira scolded softly, she could see his frustration being the only foal in the herd and being expected to find a mate. “Taahir certainly does have a knack for dancing already,” a mischievous smile crossed her face. “Taahir has already made me proud and I know he will make me prouder still.” Adira could see her son being well loved amongst their troupe being the only male performer so far, it would attract many mares attention if they were to use Taahir.

Adira listened quite intently as Almas spoke of her journey with Riad, “But at least it shows he would take good care of his lifemate once he chooses one.” It was a shame Almas hadn’t found a stallion yet, she did wish for foals so much such a romantic was she. Adira couldn’t help but feel a bit sorry for the mare. Perhaps once the herd was larger a stallion would find his way to her. "You will find your stallion Almas, I know you will." she chuckled "Besides who could resist you if you tried." Adira teased.

The mare nuzzled her friend in return "I have missed you and the others also sweet Almas." Adira glanced out to the dunes "I am sure some day they will." the chestnut smiled at her white counterpart "You will stay with us then wont you?" she offered her a place with them where they slept; it was a fine place to stay.

Here we go again, he guessed mother would do this every time one of her old troupe members was found. Like he needed to be surrounded by a bunch of gossiping mares one was enough. This was going to be horrible, why did the fates hate him so much and love his mother?

Almas laughed, her golden bells chiming at Taahir's commentary. Very few foals could stomach romance, and most of them were fillies, so Taahir's vehement objection to lifemating was no surprise and a bit funny. Turning back to Adira, she grinned. "I can see why he makes you proud. That sort of attitude is good in a great dancer, especially if he can use it as a performer."

Almas smiled again at the comment about Riad. "I am sure he would, but in the meantime, I think he will be a very great friend to everyone in the herd he speaks to." She blushed when Adira commented that she was irresistible. "I don't think I'm so very irresistible, but if you say so," she said shyly.

"I will stay, especially since I'm now one of the herd dancers like you," she said warmly. "I don't know anyone else in the herd, except for Riad, who will be away so very often as one of the herd's traders." It was good to be back among friends and to have a place, not only within the herd, but with those she cared about who cared for her back.

"Hey don't laugh!" And so Taahir was here, with his mother and his mothers white friend, who he wouldn't admit was actually very pretty like his own mother. He huffed turning his head away. It sounded like they were making fun of him.

Adira gave Almas a nod "It's hard not to see, dear Almas." she gave Taahir an affectionate nuzzle despite how it made her look in the herds eye and the eye of the King of kings she was glad for this blessing of her son and she had as surprising as it may be secretly thank the trader for it.

"Hey stop that Mother!" The foal protested feeling quite embarrassed, he was supposed to be a good colt a strong colt, she insisted on embarrassing him and making him look otherwise. he still loved his mother but he wished she didn't always have to have so many public affection displays were those even the right words? the little colt wondered.

"I am glad to hear that," the mare said before Adira gave a coy smile with her eyes "Now Almas my dear," Adira playfully nudged the white mare causing her bells to jingle "such a pure color as yours is seldom seen around these parts, I'l bet any stallion would love to make you his mate." Almas was adorable Adira couldn't help but prod her a little more her little blush just made it more so.

"Oh that's wonderful" came her warm exclamation maybe one day the rest of the dancers would join with them. How wonderful that would be to have everyone together again she was glad she wouldn't be alone anymore it made her smile "I must introduce you to the other herd members then they would love to meet you I'm sure."

And again the colt huffed.

((No worries, I'll check for 'em later, myself as well. In the meantime...I think we can start wrapping this baby up and get started on establishing the relationship between Taahir and Almas. If you're still interested in them as a lifemated pair. <3))

Almas flushed a little at her elder dance troupe member's pretty words. Almas had been the youngest in the troupe when they got split up, just barely into adulthood. As such, it had made her very much the shyest of the troupe, and the least likely to talk or express a strong, commanding opinion. Now that she thought about it, the time alone had probably made her more forward, and more hungry for socialization with others. This was a welcome change, in retrospect, but at this juncture, just seeing a familiar face and being surrounded by other Stars again was all she really needed right now to feel that the world was good again.

What she finally said in response to Adira's compliments was, "I'm not sure, and I may not believe it until we're lifemating each other." She flashed a shy smile. "Though in a herd like this...my grandmother used to say, new herds grow fast, having a lot of foals and finding a lot of wanderers. So, maybe, even if we don't find the rest of the troupe, we can find and train more dancers, so we can build the troupe up again. And I'd like to meet some of the other mares in the herd, if that's OK," she added.

Being alone again, or otherwise isolated again, really didn't appeal to Almas in the least. Having more friends, even if she remained too shy to reach out for some time, would go a long ways toward alleviating her anxieties.
PostPosted: Thu Mar 07, 2013 5:36 pm

((Why Yes, yes I am <3 I don't think anyone else has been interested in him other than you))

Taahir huffed again, he was graceful enough, though he was happy as it was with just him and his mom, why did they need anyone else anyway? he didn't get it, he'd take care of her when he was big enough so no other stallion would go near her, he'd decided he didn't want a stupid girl to take care of his mother however was a different matter. She took care of him, and he would return the favor when he was able.

"Such a huffy boy my handsome son." Adira teased her son affectionately before smiling back at Almas, a twinkle in her eye Almas was such a sweet girl, young but sweet and good mannered she had been the same maybe once long ago far too many thing had happened since their troupe broke up. "I'm sure the day you are lifemated is not too far off my dear Almas." wouldn't it be delightful once more to have a large troupe of dancers, she could train others again, it would be such fun.

Adira gave Almas a mysterious smile "Then say no more, I shall introduce you to the other mares that I know, I too do expect this herd to grow quickly, the desert is often lonely to lost souls..." loneliness she had carried inside too, though Almas's arrival had helped alleviate much. "This way Almas." mare motioned. "Taahir you too, my son."

Taahir sighed so much for not getting any more embarrassing moments, he was sure his mother would continue to dote like she had been. He hated that part of being a foal, and he was currently the only colt other than the princes in the herd... his mother loved to show him off and he still wasn't sure what he felt about that.

"Coming mother." he called standing up and trotting after the older mare he passed almas and stayed by his mother's side.

Almas smiled shyly and followed her troupe member and her proud son as they headed off to meet other mares. She wasn't sure what to say in response to Adira's suggestion that Almas' own lifemating wasn't far off. Surely it wouldn't happen as soon as Adira thought? But it wasn't for Almas to say anything that would deflate Adira or inflate herself.

Whatever would come in the future, Almas was quite sure she could not predict, and thus, she refused to speculate on what joys, triumphs, or tribulations would occur in the future.
