Prompt So one day, you're sitting at home, in your private garden, when suddenly you jump up, spill your food all over the place and spit out your drink as you realize - your favorite thing is missing. When you search for it, you come up with absolutely nothing. Frustrated and worried, you start to panic - and then, outside the walls, you see someone holding your special treasure - how the heck did he get that, anyway. Stomping to the locked gate, you demand he gives this treasure back. Except he says no. So how did this guy wind up with your treasure? And how exactly are you going to get it back?

Chocolate hued eyes narrowed with irritation at the defiance of this blond thief before her. How dare he not return the precious item in which they both knew was rightfully hers. Her gorgeous crystal, carved into a perfect replica of the sun. It was strung on the shiniest of silver, fit for a princess of course. The princess, actually. "I asked you kindly to give it back," she spoke lowly, afraid that if she didn't then her temper might get the best of her. "Aren't you aware of who you're speaking to?" Her jaw was clenched, tail twitching back and forth in aggravation. "You're either very ignorant or very foolish," she insulted him with her eyes giving the slightest hint of concern each time she flicked them down towards her beloved necklace. If it had been any other piece of collectible junk she wouldn't give a hoot but this was her most prized possession. The gem that her father gave her when she went to go live with him in the enchanting royal family. Her earliest memory was receiving this family heirloom and to lose it would be a grave insult. Whatever she'd have to do she would in order to retrieve it.
A grin spread across his face, as his long tail curled around the chain of the necklace as it dangled out to the side of him like a taunting prize being held over a child's head. The small gem reflected an array of tiny rainbows across the ground, this was certainly not a treasure he wanted to give back to her however he wasn't completely unreasonable. He didn't want to be the kind of guy who made girls cry.
"I'm sorry I am not really sure who I am talking to other than a very pretty lady, even more so when she's mad. Has anyone told you that your cute with your face flush like that?" He replied his blue eyes seemed to smile at her as he flicked his tail sending the necklace flying through the air. Leaping into the hair he caught it, looping it around his neck and landing back on the ridge of the wall without a wobbling of losing his balance.
"Sooo.... Tell me how much is this trinket worth to you?" Zidane replied perching on the wall with his chest puffed out like a proud peacock his trophy glinting on his chest.
As Dagger's prized possession swayed back and forth like a pendulum it left her hypnotized. She yearned for the weight of her charm to be back around her neck instead of the bandit's tail. When the nimble boy flung the piece of jewelry from his neck and leapt into the air the princess gasped dramatically, expecting him to miss his target. As the charm slipped around his neck she released the breath she had been holding in. "You be careful with that," she exclaimed with deep animosity for the boy's carelessness.
He was playing games with her it seemed and Dagger didn't like to be toyed with in such a fashion. On top of this he was starting to act a bit cheeky. "Well, let me enlighten you then..." she spoke through clamped teeth. "I am Princess Garnet, and it'd be wise of you to hand over my necklace. It is worth more to me than your petty life and I will not hesitate in calling my father's guards on you don't hand it over."
He furrowed his brows and stuck out his bottom lip letting it quiver just a little, he even added in the small detail of letting his tail drop along the side of the wall like a balloon out of air. She seemed rather concerned about the care of the necklace and in a way he did feel kind of bad for taking it, though not enough to just hand it over.
"Awww now that hurt my feelings just a little but.... I'm not giving up the necklace just because you say so princess . " He replied letting a grin flash on his face before leaping off the wall and landing in front of her tail curling around in a happy manner.
"How about instead of calling all of those rust buckets over here why don't I make you deal. In exchange for my necklace how about you go on a date with me and we can get to know each other... maybe eat some food and then I will give you shiny stone back."
His act wasn't enough to fool Dagger. No, she suspected that that quivering lip and the way his tail drooped were deceitful little lies meant to trick her into giving up her necklace. When he refused to give in yet again she began to inhale a deep breath, mouth agape and ready to alarm whatever nearby guards there were. The moment he spoke about a deal though she paused, remaining puffed up for a moment before deflating, letting all that hot air out in a huff. "A deal?" she asked with an intrigued expression. If there was a way of getting her necklace back herself she would much rather take that route than come off as a whiny brat.
When she heard his proposition her heart dropped in her chest and a disgusted expression twisted on her face. "First you steal my necklace and now you're blackmailing me with it?" She furrowed her eyebrows together with dislike. Still, it was better than causing a scene. "You better not be lying or I swear..." she trailed off before nodding her head in defeat. "Fine... but I expect the best!"
"I may be a thief but I wouldn't lie to you princess, come on I know best place with the best view in town." He replied wiggle his eyebrows at her before turning his back with a skip in his step. He completely ignored the fact that she gave him a rather disgusted look on her face at the idea of going on a date with him, it was ok she would warm eventually. He was a stud after all who wouldn't want someone like him?
"Soooo tell me princess what do you for fun other than sipping tea all day and sitting on a cushion? Anything fun?" He wasn't really all that interested in her talking about how unexciting her life was but what was a date without the small talk. Plus it kept her from asking too many questions about where they were going or even better how he was going to manage pulling of a meal for dinner.
Dagger had a difficult time believing this blond fellow. Criminals usually come with an variety of nasty habits and lying is usually one of them. She decided not to fight the boy on this though and just held her tongue, giving a simple roll of her eyes before tagging along for this so called date. His questions were rather insulting to her for some reason, though to be perfectly honest they were sort of spot on. Being a princess she rarely had to lift a finger for herself so there wasn't much to do but lounge around all day. "Ah-ah-ah, I agreed to have dinner with you on this outing. That is all. No more, no less," she made this distinctly clear as she trotted behind him. She shot him down, hoping it would ruffle his feathers so to speak.
"So what no chatting? Aren't we a shy princess? Or are you just stun by my good lucks?" He replied as he nudged her with his long tail as he puffed out his chest a bit, it was going to be even a less fun if all she did was pout the entire time. Picking up the pace just a little bit his mouth started to water as a bell dinged, perfect timing! Despite looking like a run-down hole in the wall Armand's Eatery did have some of the best meals around town that was if you knew what to order or when others order something for you to snatch.
"Tell me is there anything you don't want to eat? Or anything you don't want to eat before I order dinner for us? And I hope you aren't afraid of heights either." Her mood plummeted, falling to something like 'are you serious'. All Dagger could thing to herself was, 'don't laugh or he won't give my necklace back'. When his tail brushed against her and gave a light nudge she gasped, wanting to slap it away but on a date she had to act like a lady and punching his lights out wasn't very lady like. When given the opportunity to torture him with being picky she decided to take the chance. Perhaps if she showed him that she was a high maintenance lady he'd think twice before black mailing her for some affection. "Well..." she smiled with her own cheekiness this time and began pouring out a long list of thing she 'didn't like'. "... tomatoes, pickles, onion, oh and wheat bread. Did you get all of that... stud?" She gave a crooked smile.
"Of course I did its all up here princess." He replied waving his tail and touching the top of his head with it however his eyes were still pinned watching the take out bag that one of the waiters was so carefully holding while waiting for it to be picked up.
Crouching on all fours he nudged the princess with his tail telling her, “Wait here just for a moment I’ll be back.” Without another word he took off sprinting towards the decrepit fence not slowing down as he leapt with ease over it. Sending an array of plates and cups crashing into the ground and he hopped from table to table while the waiter looked with terror on his face. Not even getting the opportunity to yell out the words rising to his throat Zidane snatched the bag up off the ground and made a quick escape out the front gate and off in the opposite direction of where he left the princess.
As the boy explained that he had it all stored in his noggin she widened his eyes with disbelief. Being left to her own thoughts now Dagger began to question whether or not she was doing the right thing by shooting him down constantly. He was trying to make this nice for her, and he did in fact agree to give her precious gem back after all this madness was over. As the clamor happened on the other side of the fence Dagger grew a bit concerned, wrapping her tail about her body and flattening her ears against her skull. "Hey.... boy?" she whispered over the wall, realizing that she didn't even know his name. Hopefully was alright.
Looping back around one of the buildings Zidane in three graceful hops on wobbling crates stood on the roof of the building that he had managed to n** dinner from. A sly grin plastered all over his face he peered down looking at the chaos of the restaurant manager and waiter running of in the direction he had headed they were sure to never look up for him. Setting the bag of food down he crouched to the edge of the rooftop where he had left the princess hoping that she had at least remained still. Raising a brow he as his tail wagged happily, she actually looked a little concerned at him or either she was a little furious that he had run off without her.
“Miss me princess?” He replied in a tone low enough for her to just hear him.
The young princess had her paws against the barrier as she listened close to hear if Zidane made it out alright, but as she was straining her ears she caught sign that he was better than alright. She tilted her head back to gaze up at the surreptitious criminal. A look of relief washed over her but it didn't last very long for soon enough she was whispering back with irritation, "What are you doing up there?" Her eyes began to scan the surrounding area for ways he could have leap up but there weren't any. "You're making this date more difficult that it needs to be..." and just like that she let it slip. She accidently implied that this was in fact a romantic rendezvous.
A snicker escaped as a grin flashed on his muzzle, a date it was! At least she wasn’t calling it kidnapping, blackmail, or him trying to ruin her life. She was certainly more fun that he had thought she was going to be of course this was all due to his charm all the ladies came to his side eventually. Curling his tail he pointed the end towards the direction of the back of the building signaling her to head in that way to meet him.
Looking down at the crates he replied, “Do you think you can get up this way princess? Or would you like me to lend you a paw you are my date after all.” He winked at her after saying so his tail wiggling happily as a ray of sun glinted off the necklace.
As Dagger watched him direct her she trotted down the alleyway in back, eyeing some unstable looking crates before returning her eyes skyward, peering at the boy above. "You're insane if you think I'm jumping on that..." she muttered under her breath. When he offered her a paw though, her dignity demanded she refuse. "Mph, I can certainly handle this myself, thank you very much," she huffed and leapt into the crate, gasping as it wobbled a little before hopping her way up towards the roof. Of course she was nowhere near as acrobatic as Zidane was. Once atop the building she flipped some hair out of her eyes, "See, I told you I could- Ee!" she gasped as a shingle slid out from beneath her paws, sending her sliding near the roof's edge.
He watched her making her way up the crates his tail curling around slowly as if waiting to pounce down if she needed help or if she started to fall in the wrong direction but she didn’t need his help. Giving her a grin as she managed to make her way to the top he nodded, “Well you….s**t!”
Quickly tried to his tail wrapped around her jump strap as he sunk his teeth into the back of her garment. Putting all of his weight into his hind legs he tried to take a step back as a grunt escaped from his lips. A small tearing noise sounded as his teeth started to slip though the material, she was heavier than he had thought.
“Mmmpfff I…mppfff lemp yph phhhh,” He cried furrowing his brows as he dug his claws into the shingles his legs straining to pull back even further.
Dagger gave a sharp cry as she was suddenly stopped in mid fall. Her body suspended over the old crates and concrete flooring. She swung for a moment, traumatized from the near death experience, "P-pull me up," she whimpered at first. "Pull me up, pull me up, pull me up!" She began to panick as she flailed her legs beneath her, attempting to climb an invisible ladder. With the ripping sound she let out another dramatic, girlish scream. Her claws finally caught on the edge of the roof and with Zidane's help the girl managed to hoist herself back to safety. She collapsed, keeping her body safely secured to the rooftop as she panted from the exhilaration. "Th-thanks for not letting me fall..." she spoke, surprisingly not as cruel as she was probably expected to be.
Letting out a couple of deep breathes before flopping down next to her, Zidane looked at the princess with a half smirk plastered on his face. For a moment there he was really worried that they both were going to end up falling on top of the crates, he didn’t want to turn and look at the claw marks he had made so close the edge of the shingles.
“It’s against my code to let a pretty girl cry on my account especially on our first date.” He replied nudging her with his tail making sure she wasn’t hurt any where before nudging her with his nose.
“I bet your hungry now, you are ok to keep walking on the roof right? I mean we can get down if you don’t want to stay up.” He asked as he got back up on his feet looking at the bag of food that was left to cool.
There he went again calling this a date. Dagger took a deep inhale before releasing with aggravating thoughts that were left in that skull of hers. Sure, she had accidently let it slip out herself but that was only a mistake, nothing more. "Your constant flirting is rather obnoxious... you know that?" Though, instead of her usual glare her eyes held something humorous. "We can eat up here. I mean... so long as you catch me if I fall again," she gave a sly smirk before getting to her feet and walking over to the brown back of heated delights. "So, what have you gotten for us?" she asked curiously. She would have made a fuss about it not being rightfully theirs but she had nearly experienced what it was like to be a tomato splatting on the ground. She deserved a good hardy meal.
“And here I was thinking my flirting was charming, everyone else says they love it.” He replied with a wink as he made his way hastily over to the sack of food. If she did fall again he was sure he would help her up or at least as long as he was close enough to catch her.
“It smells like Armanda’s best rolls, a helping of diced tomatoes and onions with a side of chicken.” He commented opening the sack up unpacking the food. He looked at the sky, perfect timing again the sun was just starting to settle across the horizon sending up soft glows of red hues across the sky.
Picking up one of the rolls he took a bite out of it before nudging the other one to the princess, “I hope it’s to your liking.”
"Well, everybody else isn't bold enough to tell the truth, but I am certainly not afraid," she grinned and took a seat beside the bag as he began listing off the meal. When he unfolded the food from the packaging she was surprised to see he had gotten everything right, just by sniffing it out.
"Impressive," she gave him that much before going to work on picking out the flaws. "It's... decent enough. Though you're rather terrible at remembering an order." The princess took her own roll before turning her eyes towards the picturesque sky, getting lost in the hues. "Dagger..." she simply implied before realizing that it probably to vague for the likes of him to understand. "My name is Dagger..." she elaborated.
“So Princess Dagger, I like it! It has certainly been a pleasure meeting you, I’m Zidane.” He replied giving her a short little bow, even his tail curled in a way that it looked like it was bowing before her. Dagger, like the weapon, he never imagined someone from such a royal birth would have a name so common but at the same time unique.
Smirking he shook his head, “Well beggars can’t be choosers besides this view is the best ever and completely worth making a few mistakes on the order.” Taking nudging the other piece of chicken her way he took his and sat on the other side of her, close enough that the ends of his fur touched the sleeves of her outfit.
The female felt a sensation of bubbles rising in the pit of her stomach as he sat so near to her. She thought about scooting away but perhaps that would be a grave insult. An insult that might cost her her precious necklace. Her eyes darted down at the gem for a moment before easing into the situation. "Zidane..." she copied his pronunciation and lowered her head to take a bite of chicken. She ate properly, like a young lady should. "After we're finished eating I get my necklace back, correct?" She glanced at him again, taking another bite as she tried to eat as quickly as possible while still keeping her mannerism.
"After I walk you at least to the gate of your home a deal is a deal and I would never lie. You will get your necklace back and if you don't want to see me again that's your choice though...." He replied not continuing as his sky blues remained fixed looking at the now changing colors of red to faint purples in the sky. He kept a pleasant grin on his face however he felt a little disappointed and his pride a bit wounded that she was more worried about getting it back and going home than having a little bit of more fun. His tail drooped a little as curled around and out again as he replied, "I may show back up at the castle there always seems to be something good left laying around on the ground and the rust buckets are pretty amusing scattering around confused."
"Oh, so I have choice now?" she mused lightly before getting to her dainty little feet. When he made fun of her father's watchmen and gave hint that he may linger around from time to time she couldn't help but smile. "Yes, well... I'm sure I'll be seeing you again no matter what," though her words were rather light and playful. "Take me home now, Zidane. I believe we're through here..." she spoke it as a mere order.
"Well of course you had a choice the entire time I wouldn't hold you against your will completely." He remarked as he headed towards the crates and with ease leaped down. When she made it down the crates without falling he headed towards the castle with a hint of awkward silence. When they reached the gates he pulled the necklace from around his neck and held it out to her with his tail. It turned a hazy purple to red color as the sun reflected its setting glow in it was even more beautiful than it was earlier.
"But... my necklace..." Dagger's lips pulled into a crooked stare, not please but un-phased by her temper. Once the pampered female was escorted back she couldn't help but paw at the ground awkwardly, unsure of how to ask for her necklace back by this point. She was about to attempt demanding it again but before a sound could flee her open mouth he dandled her most prized possession in her face. Slowly she accepted, turning her eyes to the floor. "Thank you...," she uttered lightly. "This means a lot to me and I won't soon forget your kindness."
He gave her a grin before turning on his heels and making his way back to town his tail waving a goodbye.
