 Prelude was finally at peace. He had a mate, one that he loved and adored, and she hadn't ditched him. She was still there, loving him and living with him. Living with him! He had his mate, and could see her everyday!
Today though he was going to leave, just to find that pillow. Cloud had given it to him when he moved into his old den. Now? He lived with her. As of yesterday morning.
Little did he know, a little intruder had gone into his den. His old den. Cinder had wiggled herself into a den that smelled like another fox. She knew it belonged to someone but... but... she didn't like being alone. She wanted to curl up right there, on this pillow, and sleep. So she did. She didn't notice a fox approach the den, said fox blinking and staring at her, and the same fox going:"Wha?"

Cloud followed her mate back to their old homes. She was looking in her den when she heard confusion comming from Prelude. "Hmm? What is it?" She went over to his side and peered into his cave. "Oh!" There was a little kit looking up at Prelude. She was adorable! But... What was she doing alone? Cloud walked in and laid down so she was eye level with the kit. "Hello there." She smiled softly at the kit, she didn't want her to be afraid. "I'm guessing you found that pillow to be comfy as well." She giggled softly. "My name is Cloud Chaser. But you may call me Cloud." She looked over at Prelude. "And that is Prelude. May we know your name?"

Now, there were several things going through her head at the moment. Admit she was a perma and didn't need her talking to her like a child....or play the part? She had been alone for so long and these two looked kind, even if the darker one was giving her a look of pure confusion. Though, he seemed kind.
No, she wanted someone to care about her.... maybe if she just for a bit acted the part? Just for now? She'd tell them soon! She just wanted to be adored like all the other normal kits!
"Cin....der." She squeaked, looking up at Cloud with large eyes. "Mommy?"
Maybe she was going to far.
Prelude was very impressed when Cloud went over, laid down at eye-level, and spoke to the kit. It made that already deep urge strengthen more, she'd be a wonderful mother. A kind and gentle one. As the kit mentioned her name in a hesitant voice Prelude moved closer, laying down beside Prelude and looking at the tiny kit, who looked back at him.
"Daddy?"
Prelude's eyes widened, looking at Cloud. The kit apparently was just a little baby thing! Now.... while he was not frightened of just saying 'YES I'M YOUR DADDY' he knew Cloud could have different thoughts. Besides, they should probably find the kits mother! She had to be nearby!

Cloud hearts mealted."I'm sorry sweetie. I'm not your mother." She smiled warmly at the kit. If she was calling her and Prelude her parents... Did that mean she didn't have any? A pang in her chest went off. "Cinder... Where are your actual parents." She frowned a bit and looked over at Prelude, worried. But smiled when she looked back at the kit.

At the mention of parents she twitched, glancing to the side briefly. Parents? She barely remembered them at this point. Carefully, she considered her options, again. If they found out she was lying...
But she didn't want to be alone! She hated being alone! She hated being tiny and judged. She hated it. So, innocently she glanced at the 'Phim she was sure she was older than, and then at the other male 'Phim. He was probably older than her...
So, she pretended to not understand, merely snuggling into the warm fur of Cloud. Did all "mothers" feel this soft?
He caught Cloud's look, nodding to her. He could look for the girls parents while Cloud took care of the kit, actually do something useful for once. "I should find her mother or father." Or mothers, or fathers, depending on her parents sexual preference.
Moving out of his old den he sniffed the air, only smelling deer and rabbits and other animals, though not a fox. She couldn't have just appeared! Someone had to be nearby!

She watched prelude leave. "Be careful..." Cloud turned her attention back to Cinder who was snuggling into her. She curled around the kit. "You must have got lonely." She noticed a dirt smudge on the white coat of the kit, Cloud carefully cleaned it off. "I promise to keep you safe." Cloud smiled warmly at Cinder. 'Poor thing.'
Cloud waited for Prelude. Hopefully he would come back with good news. And if not... Maybe he would let her take the kit back to their new den. "Did you like that pillow, Cinder?" If she did Cloud could easily get another one. If her parents came back Cloud would ask if she could brig on to her... as something to remember her by. Cloud nodded to her self as she thought.

When she was snuggled and spoken to Cinder couldn't help but tear up. She was being snuggled being protected as if she wasn't just some perma but a real kit. Snuggling into Cloud's chest she glanced at the pillow, nodding.
As he walked about Prelude absently began to wonder. What if they couldn't find her parents? What then? Where would she go? They couldn't ditch her, neither of them were capable of such things, so what then? Would she live with them for a bit until she found her parents?
What if her parents had pulled the same stunt as his biological ones? He had been lucky Unia had handed him to Persephone, but he too was the result of being abandoned. This left a stronger feeling in his chest, he couldn't, wouldn't leave Cinder behind. They were the same!
When he returned her shook his head, ears back. "No sign of them."

"Don't cry little one. Me and Prelude will watch over you." When Prelude gave the news her heart sank. "I think we should take her home. We can't just leave her here." She looked down at Cinder. "Would you like to come with us?" She smiled at the kit then up at Prelude.
"Is that ok with you, hun? Letting her stay with us?" Cloud would take care of her until she was all grown up. Then if she wanted to she could leave. Maybe she would come back and visit them from time to time... like she would actual parents.

Cinder's heart sank slightly. They wanted to care for her, but did they know this would never change? She would die a kit, she would never mate, never have children. She would rot as a kit, and never become big. She was, always would be a kit. Her mouth opened to choke out these words when Cloud spoke to Prelude, her ears flicking back.
She wanted a home.
So, she just nodded at her, then looked at Prelude with large kit eyes, begging him.
He didn't need that look, he had already decided back there what he would do. Approaching Cinder, he lifted her onto his back gently, making sure to not rip her clothes, and nodded to Cloud.
"Of course we can take her back, I cannot just leave her here." With this he grabbed the pillow between his teeth, shifted Cinder between his shoulder blades, and used his tail to pet her side.

Cloud stood up and her wagged happily. "Then lets go home." She smiled and took off into the air and waited for Prelude. They would fly slowly to make sure the kit was safe. "You might have to share your pillow for a bit." She giggled a bit. It made her smile thinking of Prelude and Cinder curled up in the pillow.
She thought about the cave. She was thinking if there was anything for the kit to get hurt on. There wasn't anything she could think of that was dangerous in there. She kept and eye on Prelude and Cinder, smiling at them.

When Cloud flew up Cinder's eyes widened. She had forgotten there were foxes that could fly and was slightly jealous. She had heard that even some perma's could have wings! She wanted a pair! Though she could never have wings, so instead she settled with snuggling into Prelude's back and waiting.
Prelude quickly but gently kicked off into the air with the small kit on his back, Flying past Cloud and while doing so brushing his tail lovingly against hers, smiling at his beloved mate.
"I'll share happily with her." He said when he wiggled his pillow between his paws, putting it back into his mouth as he headed to the cave.

Cloud landed in there den and waited for Prelude. As he landed she looked over at Cinder. "Welcome home." She smiled and giggled. She nuzzled Prelude's neck. "Lets show her around~" She started to walk to the back, where the skylight was. "Cinder, if you ever need anything you can let us know." She looked back and nodded.
She went past the glowing corridors and sat down where they slept. She took the pillow from Prelude and laid it down. "Prelude, Cinder, are either of you hungry?" She hoped one of them was. That way she could hunt and grab a pillow for Cinder.

When they reached the cave she wiggled, wanting to be down when they passed by glowing objects. Prelude lowered himself so she could come down, eagerly running to the corridor and poking it with her paw. Wow! She'd never been somewhere that glowed! She followed beside Prelude as he walked, looking up when Cloud spoke. She wagged her tail in response.
They were just like parents! She wished they were her parents! Were they mates? She thought so. Did they have kids, too?
He smiled as the kit seemed to bounce as she walked. When they reached the area they slept he heard Cloud's question, smiling up at her. He glanced at the kit, hearing her tiny stomach rumble and her blushing. "She's hungry, I know I am, too." He said, smiling up at Cloud and licking her cheek, going to set his pillow down for Cinder to lay on.
He lifted the little kit and plopped her down right on the pillow, grinning when she curled into a ball.

Cloud smiled and licked both of there heads and slipped out. She flew to were she first found Preludes pillow. It was at at humans den. She landed and carefully looked around. No luck. She was about to leave when a human kit had a pillow. She watched and carefully backed away. The human laid down the pillow and backed away. Cloud cautiously went up to the pillow and grabbed the tip with her teeth, watching the human. The human extended its hand carefully and patted her on the head. When cloud heard other humans she flew away, leaving the kid watching the sky amazed.
Cloud hid the pillow at the entrance of her cave. Then slipped back out to go hunt. She easy caught a large deer and slowly flew back to the cave. She dragged the kill to the back of the cave. "Alright now you two. Come eat." She smiled at both. "Cinder, when you are done I have something for you."Her tail wagged happily and she beamed at both Cinder and Prelude.

Cloud left, and she was left alone with Prelude. The two stared at one another, silent as could be. Then, she got up and went to Prelude. She was a "kit" after all, she did like snuggles. She curled into Prelude, wagging her tail when he licked his head.
When Cloud returned she was under one of Preludes wings, peeking up and beaming when she saw Cloud.
Prelude was content with the small kit beside him, glancing down at her. When he went to ruffle her head she jerked away, ears going back as a paw held firmly onto the hat.
"No."
Taken aback, he nodded. Perhaps he had been to forward. Then Cloud returned, both their tails wiggling. "Thank you." He greeted her with a rub and a small affectionate n**, still getting used to having a mate. Cinder went to eat and Prelude stepped back, letting her eat first.
