Taryn had not talked much to the ghoul actually taking the names. There had been too many people in the room, and the ghoul herself looked rather intimidating. Instead, she searched the room for Roch and, when she didn't find him, retreated. Maybe he had already come and left by the time she'd arrived, or maybe he hadn't signed up at all. As far as the chimera knew, Roch couldn't bake worth crap (she remembered his mintless mint cookies), but she had seen a taste-tester list.

Oh well. It wasn't his job to hold her hand. When the club started, they could see each other. She was somewhat disappointed, though, to have not met Xiu in all of this. Some other time, right?

The ghoul exited the classroom and began down the hall with her face down.

"Hey!" Roch said, jogging towards Taryn. "Man you got here fast! Did you see Xiu?" he asked. "Did you talk to her? Come on, I want to tell her about the spookies that you made," he said, reaching for her hand to pull her back into the Home Ick room.

"I thought I had another ten minutes at least," he complained as he started for the door. "You moved seriously fast." It didn't smell like anyone was baking, he thought, but it was still the whole signing up thing right now, right? The baking would come next!

Oop! Taryn found herself dragged back into the room and shrank into herself. People flowed in and out, ones that looked damned intimidating, and she more or less hid behind Roch as he pulled.

He seemed excited, at least? That was nice. It would be good to see Xiu as well, maybe try to get one of those ghoul-to-ghoul readings the guilty-pleasure magazines talked about. Her eyes rolled up to view the room as they entered, trying to spot the... what was she, anyway? Something with cute little ears.

Xiu was so excited.

It was absolutely amazing for the Baku to see how many people were signing up for the baking club. To think that something that just started out as a suggestion from Roch had turned into this! The best part of it was running the club with one of her close friends, while some of her other friends were coming by to sign up. At this rate, she and Junko would be able to make an appeal for their club later today! Moving over towards the sign-up list, she scanned the names with interest. She was surprised by a couple of the students, but...the more the merrier, right?

One name caught her attention in particular, as she recalled that Roch had mentioned many times that the other ghoul enjoyed baking. That was kind of how this club ended up starting, after all. I wonder if he ever gave Taryn my number? She mused, tilting her head at the name curiously. She was a little disappointed that she hadn't seen the other ghoul come in and sign up, but they would run into each other at the club meeting.

...Or even earlier than that. When she spotting someone familiar moving into the room, Xiu lowered the clipboard with a small smile. "Hello, Roch. And...oh!" Her eyes widened, and her smile grew slightly as her gaze flickered to the person who followed him. "Hi, Taryn!"

"Hey, Xiu," Roch said with a grin, even as he tried to tug the little chimera out from behind him. He held up his free hand, asking silently for some time before he turned to look at Taryn.

"The only thing people in here are going to bite are spookies... and cupcakes... and waffles. Man, I really hope there's waffles. C'mon," he said quietly. "Xiu's nice. Hell, she's a LOT nicer than me! True fact. I bet you and her have a TON to talk about--and then feed to me!"

There she was! Taryn offered a shy smile, stepping out from behind Roch as he forced her to. Why was Xiu scary all of a sudden? They had met before, and there hadn't been an issue. Oh well.

"Hi," she peeped, her voice weaker than planned. Jack damn it! She had to reassure herself that this was Roch's love interest, and she had to make a good first (or second) impression as his friend of his. Now, though, what to chit-chat about? As a general rule, Taryn wasn't very good with small talk, but this was different. She had no idea who this ghoul was aside from the obvious: she made tea, Roch liked her, and she was in the baking club. ...oh, crud! Silence was stretching!

"It's, um. Nice to meet you. Again."

Very smooth.

Xiu waited patiently as she understood first hand what it was like to be shy. When Taryn managed a quiet greeting, the Baku smiled and gave a little wave of her hand. "Y...yes! It's nice to see you again, Taryn!" ...Okay, she was feeling a little...self-conscious as well, but Taryn seemed nice! And she was a friend of Roch's, which definitely helped.

Holding the sign up sheet in front of her face, Xiu peered out from over her, her tail wagging in excitement. "I-I see that you signed up! I'm glad!" Using her finger, she traced her finger down the list. The...surprisingly long list. "Junko and I are really excited to see that so many signed up. I'm sure it'll be a lot of fun."

...Though she was a little concerned about keeping the Home Ick room in one piece, with some of these members.

Roch let go of Taryn's hand, now that she looked less likely to run. "I think," he said, "that you guys should set up a fundraiser of sorts. A bake sale! You could get plenty of seeds to buy supplies with, and it'd get all sorts of people to notice the club's here. Then you guys can offer to cater parties and stuff for a small fee."

In other words he was penciling them into his plan for the music club. "You guys have GOT to try each others spookies," he added. "They're great!"

Roch was really all about eating their creations, wasn't he? ...wait, Junko? Where had Taryn heard that name before...

"Wait, so you started it?" How exciting was that?! ...well, maybe not so much. Pretty much anyone could start a club, couldn't they? This was a friend of a friend, though! That was kind of nice! ...okay, okay, tangents. Why was she so nervous?! "That's pretty cool! I haven't really met anybody who liked to cook at Amityville... um. Except now! Here!"
PostPosted: Thu Sep 08, 2011 8:15 pm

Roch sure had a lot of ideas already, didn't he? Quickly, Xiu raised her hands, palms out, with a grin. "S-slow down! We're not even an official club yet!" It was nice seeing that he was so eager though (even if he just wanted lots of tasty baked goods). "We're trying to work out all the details! We needed four members to appeal for the club, but...I think we made that mark pretty quickly." Smiling wryly, she gestured to the list again.

Turning her attention back to Taryn, the Baku gave a little bob of her head. "Roch suggested it, actually. And...to be honest, I always wished there was a baking club here. I just didn't think I could run it alone, so I asked Junko for help." ...Man, was she ever grateful that Junko had accepted!

Beaming, Xiu nodded brightly at Taryn's words. "Yes! There are quite a few bakers here, actually! This is the first time everyone will be in one room baking together though!"

There was this stupidly happy look on Roch's face as they started discussing baking. He shoved his hands into his pockets and rocked back on his heels, letting them do the talking for now. In his mind he pictured all the people signing on the sheet carrying trays of desserts--

"Oh!" he said abruptly. "Hey, I had an idea, I figure I might ask you both, since you'll both be baking stuff. I want to throw a party. Just a little one. I was thinking you and Mitsu could do the music, and the baking club could provide little treats and drinks." He looked at Xiu, then at them both. "Nothin' huge, maybe a handful of people."

Or whoever showed up after he put up a flier or two.

"Did he!" Taryn grinned, giving Roch a Look. He would, wouldn't he? The question was now, had there been any progress made toward dates? That was definitely not a question for sweet Xiu. Later, later...

"Well, it should be fun," she nodded then as she turned back to Xiu, "I've never... I mean I've honestly never baked with anybody else. I'm just barely cooking at all, really. Mummy and Deadie, uh... didn't approve." She was having a damned good time with it, though, so boo to them. Of course, Roch spoke again then and Taryn found her attention drawn in different directions. Xiu had said herself that they weren't an official club yet, and there he was, trying to draft them for product. Luckily for him, Taryn had been considering something similar (baking for a party, of course, not holding one herself) for a while now. Meeting new people was grand, and giving Roch and Xiu a nice, comfortable public setting...

Oh, she was getting ahead of herself.

"I'll help," she shrugged, acting like she hadn't possibly thought of this before, "Of course the whole club would be easier, but you have me, at least." She turned back to Xiu then and smiled softly, her social awkwardness filtering out with Roch as an over-excited buffer. "And Xiu, I'm sure."

"Didn't...approve?" Xiu seemed a little startled by this, actually. Perhaps it was only to be expected, though--cooking and baking had originally been pushed onto her by her parents, but the fortunate thing was that she eventually grew to love it. The idea of parents being disapproving of it though...well, she had never heard of that before! Shaking her head, Xiu smiled and reached out to give Taryn's shoulder a light squeeze. "W-well, we're really happy to have you! Umm, I hope you'll like being in the club!"

Speaking of which, despite the fact that it wasn't even officially open yet, Roch was certainly jumping the gun in his excitement! "I'd have to talk to Mitsu about it," She laughed, making a note to visit the lycan soon, "And I don't want to burn out poor Taryn by making her help alone, or just with me, so..." So they could either wait for the club to be approved, or perhaps they could round together some of the members for an unofficial first task.

"You should talk to Junko about it too, though? She and I will probably make the decisions together, or we'll ask for the members' opinions too, so..."

"Hey, we don't need snacks if you don't wanna do it. Or we could buy some. But don't you guys think it's an interesting idea?" he asked them both. "Seemed real classy to me. I was proud of myself for comin' up with it!"

Because clearly, Roch didn't DO classy that often.

Classy? Well, classy might be a bit of a stretch. Tset was classy. A party with cookies and fancy punch? Not so much. Maybe she could draft Tset in helping with some fancy hors d'oeuvre? She definitely needed to see that ghoul again either way. Maybe she'd signed up for baking class! Taryn tried to get a peek at the list in Xiu's hands as she spoke again.

"What's the general idea?" she asked. Oh, good! Tset had signed up just before her! The chimera ghoul's gaze turned from the list to Xiu's face as she smiled, "I mean, are there going to be groups? Whole-club projects? Expeeeerimentation?"
