Well, lets face it. This subject was bound to be brought up sooner or later. Some may even venture so far as to say that it allready has, what with Goddess mention and divination and whatnot.

So what are your beliefs? Please keep an open mind when reading through and posting in this thread. I have a feeling there will be some controvertial opinions here, and Im honestly looking forward to that.

So my first topic to throw out at you, besides posting your very own personal beliefs, please let me know how you feel about Organized Religion vs Individual Spirituality. Pros and cons and what have you.

Have at ye!

Ahh, I was waiting for this to come up.

God(ess) is pretty smart. S/he knows that one approach won't hit everyone, just like in marketing. And so S/he shows him/herself to people in whatever way is the most fitting for them. Even the people that claim not to be religious tend to have some sense of something greater...and that's God(ess) working.

I tend to follow a pagan path, because I think that nature is a beautiful and wonderful thing, and should be honored. I believe in spirits, and don't think that they're specifically good or evil...just like people, they are. Someone/thing doing an action may be seen as good by some and evil by others. It's all in perception.

I believe that magick is a combination of placebo effect and the energies of the world interacting with eachother. I believe that everything (down to the keyboard I'm typing with and the rocks outside my window) has a soul. I believe that we can use our soul/energy to interact with that of other things. That's what psychic activity is. I guess you could say that I belive in the universal unconscious theory...divination is tapping into that.

Yeah...I think that basically covers it.

As far as organized or otherwise religion, I think that depends on the person. Some people need more structure, and something organized is better for them. I do think that some organized religions take it to an extreme, and try to run TOO much of a person's life, and it is certainly not the system for me. But if it helps someone else, who am I to judge?

I'm what's known to be Agnostic. Not indiffrent but not specifically following a religion. I loathe bible thumpers and conversionists, but that's because whenever anyone tries to force something they believe on another person it makes my blood boil. I used to go to sunday school with a friend of mine who's family was Catholic, I liked the vast number of toys they hand and then I didn't have to wait a few hours to get to play with her. One time though, a woman gave us all a big lecture on Hell and had us all on the verge of pissing ourselves with fright, then told us the only way NOT to go there was to pledge ourselves to Jesus. I can't tell you how increadibly angry I am just writing this and thinking about it. I was scared out of my mind and I took her pledge, and that just makes me angrier. Beliefs and spirituality are two very diffrent things when it's like that. She was ensuring the younger generations followed their parents by frightening them into submission. I see so many people just blindly going to church and never having a real spiritual experience in their lives and I shake my head. I also don't believe in the bible, as it's just a book some guy wrote 2,000 years ago, that's been translated and distorted hundreads of times. Not only that, but who knows if whatever omnipotent being there is up there actually spoke to this guy, or if he just decided to make it all up.

I take alot of solice in Science, I simply adore it and it's facts, solid, hard facts. You can take something and show how it works and it'll work the same time and time again. I love it.

I think Reincarnation is really cool, I'm not sure if it's true, but if it is I'm certainly not complaining. It would also explain a heck of alot of things.

I believe there is some sort of higher being above us, and I believe in Karma. I've seen loads of proof that what energies you put out will come back to you often even stronger.

I believe in spirits, and energy, and all sorts of things. Though if someone offered me some solid, undisputable proof that some of them didn't exist I'd accept it in an instant.

I remember going to a Catholic church with one of my ex boyfriends. I saw a little girl follow her fathers lead before sitting down in the aisle. She kneeled before the pew, and crossed herself. She was so young, she did not have a clue as to what she was doing, I am sure of it. It made me frustrated to think that this little girl will probably never have a choice, because she has been brainwashed since birth.

mm.. not necessarily Celes. I was baptized Catholic as a child, but later on swapped to Methodist, then flipped completely out of organized religion. I'm not much for organized religion, the churches have far too many rules where I find just belief gets me thru. I'm more of a catholic/wicca/buddhist now in my beliefs. 3nodding
and no offense to anyone, but I love Jesus bread. I don't know why but I find it really nummy.

Being ruled by mind control and fear is not an acceptable form of worship in my opinion.

you've just hit my home. I'm currently under contract with my parents of what I can and cannot do, who I can and cannot see, and what I spend my money on. and they're looking for me to show them I can function on my own when they don't even give me the opportunity to make my own choices. stare

~giggles~ I've never had it, but I do love bread, except sourdough, that stuff is nasty. Nothing makes me salivate faster then the smell of fresh made bread. heart

Exactly my complaint. It actually makes me shake with anger when I think about that woman and what she did to me and those other kids in the room, and that she's probably done it to hundreads of others.

Gemstone, I must say you pretty much sumed up how I feel. But I'll type my story...

My mother made me go to CCD (a Bible class and such) and I was okay with it, but they just continued to forcivley tell us how we should live our lives and what we should and shouldnt do... I didnt exactly agree, so I was eventually thrown out for "doubting the bible" (I called it Bull *****... Not that I knew exactly what that ment because I was going on 6. But still.) and was then on known as the demon girl.

After that I went on a reble phase and would throw fits whenever my parents would try to get me into church, so I'd sit out side for the 45 mins... Once the three of my four brother caught on to what was going on they decided they didnt want to have to go in either, so my dad stayed home with the four of us.

When I turned 13 I learned about Wicca, magick and such, and caught on to that very quickly.. Once all my friends decided that they must immidiatly believe everything the books say. I decided I wasnt going to start that again.

So, in short terms, I'm loosly based around, spirits, energy, many gods and goddesses, magick, and so on and so forth. I know there is something greater and more powerful up there But I dont think we yet know what it is or how it works...

That's amusing, I was baptised Catholic because my parents didn't like the Methodist preacher. I was raised Methodist, then got sent to Catholic school in 5th grade because the public schools were so bad. I converted, mostly to follow the crowd, and my parents converted with me. And from about 9th grade on I've considered myself a pagan.

I would classify myself as an eclectic pagan. The basis of my beliefs stem from Wicca (Faerie Wicca included), Druidism, Shinto, Norse, Greek, and whatever my mind concieves.

To be somewhat on topic, I was actually raised Roman Catholic, but neither of my parents are overly religious nor do they believe in pushing religions on people, especially my sister and I. I was indeed baptized, but I never had confirmation.

As for organized religions or otherwise, I believe a person must follow whatever path they feel is right for them. 3nodding

My belifes:

The Plan of Salvation.

We started out as intelligences, then became spirit children of Heavenly Parents. We wanted to be like them, so they created a world for us, as they did for others who had come before us.

We were born to the earth, gained a body, learned how to follow God.
Then we die. we go to sprit paradise, or prison depending on how we lived our life.

Then we have judgement.
Then we are resurected and gaiin a perfect body.

Then according to how we lived our lives we then recieve our glory.
The celestial Kingdom were we can become a God our selves,
The terestrial Kingdom were good people who don't accept Christ will live.
and the telestial Kingdom were all the evil people rapists and murdurers etc. will go.

That is my complicated religion condensed into simplisity.
Most of the finer points are left out simply becasue it takes to long to explain.

I have had many dealings and expierinces with many different religions and belife systems, I am open minded.
But I have found that the religion I belong to answeres every question ever asked.
