The day of his room invasion, Mot had been saved by two good friends; Hel and Riley. One distracted the crowd, while the latter hid him until everyone was out of sight. Mot had made a note to thank them both when he was feeling himself again.
And he would keep that promise.
Mot had remembered the way to Riley's room thanks to the unfortunate Day of the Coconut fiasco. With that information in mind he had no trouble locating it again. A few knocks at the door were made as well as a vocal call out to the Mindflayer. "Caaaaaptaaaaain?"

There was a crash, and a few hurried steps, before Riley opened the door, looking a little out of breath. She was in her Fitness uniform, which consisted of a training bra and shorts, and she was sweating hard. She'd been working out. Extensively.
Oh. Mot! I wasn't expecting you. Come on in. I'm so sorry for the mess I'm in. She flicked the light on, since she assumed he'd rather walk into a lit room, rather than a pitch dark one, and left the door open for him to enter. She was headed for the bathroom, where she grabbed a towel and dropped it around her shoulders.
Even though she was in the other room, her voice sounded loud and clear in his mind. How can I help you today, my friend?

Mot jumped, wondering if he perhaps surprised the mindflayer upon hearing a crash. The boil tensed slightly as Riley opened the door, seeing he had interupted her from an apparent work out. A vigorous one at that. "Oh, no. Sorry. My bad for coming unexpected." The reaper walked in after her, nudging the door closed, then making his way into the room.
Riley was correct in assuming Mot preferred a well lit room. Chances were he would bump into everything if it were pitch black.
Mot flinched a bit as Riley spoke into his mind; while he was used to it, normally he could at least see her. "Oh right. Actually, I came to thank you." He nodded to himself, forgetting exactly what direction she had taken to get to the bathroom, and stared into the room he was in, speaking to empty space.
"A while ago, when you came to the reaper dorms? I wasn't feeling myself and you and Hel really bailed me out. "

Riley came back out of the bathroom, rubbing the towel against her neck, and watched Mot curiously. Did I? I didn't realize it was such a dire situation. Well, I'm glad I could help, honestly. You know I'll always be there for you. Hopefully in ah, better ways than just hiding you in my tentacles, though. She chuckled quietly.
Still, it wasn't often that someone went out of their way to come and thank her for something she had done. It was her mission to do things that were worth thanks, obviously.. but to have someone go out of their way to do it was a nice, refreshing change. She appreciated Mot's manners, and walked up to pat him on the shoulder affectionately.
Well, in any case, you're welcome. It was very kind of you to tell me you were grateful for the help.

"I appreciated it, either way." Mot chuckled to himself as well. While it did save him, hiding in a head full of tentacles was one of the weirdest things he'd hidden in to date. He remembered he had been afraid to move in an inch, not wanting to make contact with any of them. No offense to Riley.
"Well, I had to say something." Mot smiled bashfully, rubbing his neck. "It'd be rude of me if you went un-thanked."
"That being said, can I make it up to you somehow? I mean, you could have easily just left me for the wolves so to speak, but you didn't."

I am quite fond of boils with manners, you know. Riley purred, offering him a seat on her couch with a wave of the hand. Her fingers clutched just slightly inward at the mention of making it up to her, but she subtly relaxed them as soon as she realized she'd done it.
Ah. Make it up to me. Of course.
Had Mot come to Riley last year, she would be holding her hand out to him this very moment, with gentle promises in her eyes, and dark intent in her heart.
Her fingers twitched again.
I. Ah. I'm sure there will be something. I can't think of anything now, but I will keep your offer in mind..
His offer.
Her hand reached out, stopped with the palm extended, and then quickly moved to rest on his shoulder. Her eyes crinkled at the side, filled with gentle promises.
Perhaps if you give me some time to think about it, I can manage to come up with something fun for both of us that you can do for me. Deal?
The word sent a shiver up her spine.

Mot moved to take the spot on the couch he'd been offered. While he did grow up taught to use manners, he really only used them on ghouls and those he deemed worthy of the effort to do so. Respect was earned, after all.
Her sudden change in behaviour was slightly unnerving. Had he said something off? All he wanted to do was show her the same kindess she had shown him, after all. His gaze shifted to his shoulder where her hand had suddenly found itself then back to the ghoul's face. She seemed way too eager about this.. favour. "Oh, yes. Deal. Anything I can do, really." He said with a smile, his intentions completely innocent.

Mot was unintentionally seducing her back to the dark side.
She patted his shoulder, and her eyes turned gentle. Okay. I will let you know. I just hope I don't forget.
Ha.
If only there was some way I could, hm, oh.. no. She turned her eyes down apologetically. How silly of me to even think... Anyway, I'm sure I'll figure something out. Until then, is there anything I can get you? Are you thirsty, perhaps?

"I can wait. No rush. The offer stands regardless."
Riley was certainly acting in a curious manner. There was little Mot could think of to prod a further deatiling of her mindset. "Oh, uh, sure! Cider.. maybe? Anything is fine." Mot answered, fiddling with his fingers. He couldn't put his finger on it, but Riley was a little more intimidating for a moment. He sensed just a small bit of something else from her a moment ago. Perhaps it was his imagination, or the fact he'd been feeling on the bottom of the food chain lately.
The reaper breathed out, attempting to calm himself down and shake off his doubt.

He hadn't fallen for the bait. Drat. Riley knew she shouldn't even be trying such a move with a friend like Mot, anyway. He was reliable and loyal. She should have learned her lesson by now.
It was just so tempting.
Cider then. It's the season for it. It was actually always the season for Cider, in Halloweentown - so the lighthearted phrase was more of a joke than anything. I'll return momentarily. Make yourself comfortable.
She bowed out, returning to the kitchen with just a soft hint of disappointment. The sound of glasses and ice tinkling could be heard as she prepared his refreshment.
Why, exactly, was everyone congregated in your room that day anyway, Mot? For a minute I had thought you were having a party, and I was saddened to know I had not been invited - but from the way you were acting, I am guessing that was not actually the case.

Mot chuckled, leaning back in his seat now that he wasn't feeling as on guard like earlier. What a strange feeling it had been. This was just Riley. Always trust Riley. Always.
"Aha, no no. It certainly wasn't a party. If it were you would be among the first invited." Mot laughed a bit, shrugging his shoulders. "It was a strange kind of coincidence. Shun and Mitsu came over, and then Hel and.. well little by little even those I'm unfamiliar with began to pour in. Before I knew just about everyone I knew was there. I had already been in a fowl mood, and while normally I enjoy company I was.. overwhelmed."

Ah. The idea of people randomly filling up her room disturbed her - and her dorm was quite a big larger than Mot's. Suddenly she felt a lot more sympathy for what he had to go through that day. But you say you were in a foul mood? My Mot? What could have put you in such a mood?
Her eyes narrowed thinly as she returned from the kitchen with the tray of cider, and looked down at him. Was someone bothering you? Need me to bust a few heads open. Ah.. that reminds me, I haven't had lunch yet.

Mot expected to be asked about the reasons why. There had been some time between then and now, so while he was less squeamish about it, he still didn't like to divulge into details. Tattling would get him nowhere but trouble. He wasn't that kind of boil.
"Ah, sort of. Not naming names. I'll deal with it." He was enough of a man to fight his own battles, or so he wanted to believe. Next time, he would not be shoved aside like weak trash. He would be someone worthy of being taken seriously, and not to be messed with.
Or if he was lucky, no one would be able to get close enough to try.
Her little joke made him chuckle, though. It left a smile on his face if nothing else, though normally he was never without one anyway. "I had a bit of an encounter with another student. It made me doubt my own worth for a while."

I see. She moved to sit on the other side of the couch, turning fully so her back was on the armrest, and contemplated his words. He wanted to handle the situation himself, which was admirable. It still irked her that he did not take her up on the offer, but she understood his reasoning perfectly. Especially if he was doubting his own worth.
She had brought out the cider, and settled it on the table in front of him. Now, she leaned over and picked the glass up, holding it out to him. Well, for what it's worth, I don't pick my companions lightly. Rest assured, you are worth your weight in gold to me. That is not a compliment, nor some kind of way to comfort you. It is fact. Still the words had a comforting tone to them - she couldn't help it.
So whoever had you doubting yourself, is wrong. Not good, or bad, just wrong. Period.

Mot took the offered glass of cider from Riley, watching her as she spoke. He liked listening to her. She seemed like she was honest, or hoped she was. Kind words when you were feeling down were wonderful, and he had a few friends who would do just that; Tell him everything is okay and pat his head. With Riley there came an air of sincerity. At least that's what he got from her persona.
Mot nodded thoughtfully, taking a drink from his glass. "Thank you. Coming from you, it makes it easier to believe." Mot did value her opinions quite a bit. She was firm, but not cruel. At least not to him. "Don't get me wrong though, I've been doing better. I was in a dark spot, but I pushed through it.." Mot paused and smiled. "Admittedly though, my friends are to thank for it. With everyone supporting me, it's hard to stay down."
The reaper took another sip of his drink, quite enjoying the taste. "I've never met such quality friends before Amnity."
