Welp, here comes the clashing trains. As if we didn't discuss this enough outside.
For now, I'll just say that the best thing I've read on the forums regarding the rings would have been to change the name of the Abuse ring into "Glitched Ring". I just find the double sided joke delicious, but removing the name Abuse goes a long way.

Calling it Glitched Ring does make it a nice joke and I think gets the point across well (it's more of a subtle PSA style getting-the-point-across, as in "hey, these glitched rings are bad for you"). It would also make it seem more relevant if they are indeed thinking of possibly letting it drop in game for those who didn't get it (although it does risk getting a backlash as being flip-flop-y). What would the integrity ring be called, though? I'm actually a bit more bothered by that name (although I'm not really bothered with either name, truth be told). It's an even broader category of reasons and backgrounds, and "Integrity" just seems to me like a boring name for a buff on me anyway.

I really don't see why should changing one name mean the other would have to be too. I just find the name and description of Abuse ring to be a "Take That!" from the developers which comes in really bad taste. Praising, on the other hand, is perfectly acceptable, so why not? The Abuse ring should have just not been granted in first place, but... But anyways, I can roll with "Boring" for a reason. I don't have any other suggestion though. Besides, I like the implication in the passive rings that being proper is superior to being fit.

Besides, I like the implication in the passive rings that being proper is superior to being fit. I actually would find the name "Integrity" to be more abrasive than "Abuse", but then again I'm more in the engineer line of thought. Integrity implies a lack of integrity elsewhere (and a presence of integrity just for not doing one glitch, no matter what else is there), while Abuse just refers to a neutral and technically accurate term. However, I'm not so lost in my pedantic world that I don't see how badly most people view the term "Abuse". The implication that being honest is its own reward, and better than fitness (but only 1.5 times better, kids. So just be super fit and lie. razz ), is sort of cool - I'll agree with that. Compared to the eccentric conglomeration of other buffs and rings, though, and applied to a large amount of zOMG players - it just feels less flavorful.

Atrash the Squidmonger I actually would find the name "Integrity" to be more abrasive than "Abuse", but then again I'm more in the engineer line of thought. Integrity implies a lack of integrity elsewhere (and a presence of integrity just for not doing one glitch, no matter what else is there), while Abuse just refers to a neutral and technically accurate term. "Exploit" is a technically neutral term, as well, and I've heard they fully understand how loaded it is, regardless. I'm personally of the belief that if it's not appropriate to punish someone, it's wrong to treat them as a convict. If you're not going to issue official warnings, suspensions, or bannings, the use of the word "abuse" is patently inappropriate.
"Integrity" poses all of the issues you mentioned, as well; it's rather inappropriate of them to assert that every player with a CL 10.0 ring must have integrity, simply because they lacked a glitched ring. I've got a number of friends with at least one CL 10.0 Ring who have never stepped foot in Shallow Seas. There are players who have not played in years since reaching CL 10.0, that received the ring simply by virtue of being inattentive. And that's not even to mention the players that didn't receive 'Integrity', for doing things most wouldn't consider dishonest.
All-in-all, I think they've managed to grossly misuse both terms, in naming these rings. I'd like to see both renamed - "Glitched Ring" sounds good for the one, but I don't really know about the other. Additionally, I personally think there ought to be some way to exchange the two (in which case 'Integrity' could probably remain 'Integrity', since it gives users a chance to 'redeem themselves' by trading away the 'Glitched Rings'), simply because players are not satisfied with not having access to all existent Rings. I'm not sure specifically how I'd implement that, either, though... sweatdrop

You forgot the case where people have abused other glitches and went completely impune as well. The thing is, most cases people just didn't know that much about or couldn't pull it off. The Papa Saw wall-glitch is one of the most obvious choices; but did you know that some people did use that glitch to summon an endless number of OMG's that Taylor found out about? Both are likely to be more grave than these rings since both would be used for easy, quick granting of a lot of gold; while rings are essentially pointless.
And I still don't see a good, fair way out of this. The major problem is that these rings have a meaning. On one side, people want to have "all rings - on the other, giving either one of the rings to the people that don't have them is essentially missing the whole point of the rings being made in the first place.
... So I guess I'll just sit on my throne and not pretend I give a ******** about "another" stat-boosting passive ring.
Seriously, if the next passive isn't in any way game changing, then I'm salvaging my Sugar Rush. (I have more)

the last I saw, they are considering renaming the abuse ring.
but personally, I think people are overreacting, and I'm sick of this whole subject!

Yeah, but that's the z!F for you. People overreact, and often little things like changing the name can calm things down (which again might be itself an overreaction razz ). Red Kutai "Exploit" is a technically neutral term, as well, and I've heard they fully understand how loaded it is, regardless. Yeah. Although from my field of expertise, those words like 'punishment' and talking about warning and banning are all the most technically correct and neutral terms as well in such context. When you work with non-people or with statistics of people, it's important to be clear. When you work with people, especially like the zOMG forum, it's very important to not be so clear. However, they (and even I) can tell where the boundary is more or less, and it is a bit harsh for them. Quote: All-in-all, I think they've managed to grossly misuse both terms, in naming these rings. I'm not sure specifically how I'd implement that, either, though... sweatdrop They could just make both rings unsoubound - it wouldn't be exact trades, but a lot of people might find either ring interesting. Adding in a new lucrative item for CL 10 (well, at-least-one-ring-to-CL-10) people to hit the marketplace with is probably not what they want (especially for the people who did get the Glitched [or Integrity] rings with rather unsavory motives). In that case, I'd hardly say it would still be Integrity - maybe Honor, though. Maybe Favor, Respect, something to do with cleanliness (a bit metaphorical for zOMG's taste, perhaps), or something might be a fitting name to complement Glitched Ring. Or just something entirely different, to distance it (MEGAFITNESS).

take it now that some time has passed. the real issue is the shortage of integrity's,[from people who have them leaving and others getting banned or other who have them but stopped playing altogether.] now that Kamila is able to drop Abuse at random. it has been very well tip the balance on abuse, although as stats show abuses are somewhat useless. [atleast for me its just an extra challange] as for integrity its been shows the more easier to tank certain areas in zOMG biggrin MS; in particular, and of course tanking Blood Lust: Kamilas Final form.and thats where people go to get loot and farm for essences and epics. so the high demand if demeaning, so were left with people to tank with fitness and SR. which makes it hard there have been many ideas brought forth to accommodate this shortage and so far the only means to get one was through some contest. which comes to mind why aren't they doing this more often. well its hard to say. because of everything going on with Gaia atm. from gold sinks to random sales. things do look shakey at the moment.
