The ghoul walked into the common room of the Ghost Dorms carrying a basket that contained a couple of vials of ink, some paper, and pens - mostly for her own purposes. She set her basket down on the ground as she dug around in the basket a bit more before she took out the jar and set it down next to the basket. For the moment she had time to wait and she wasn't feeling all too nervous about meeting with the new boil that she hadn't talked to yet.
Sure he was a new person to her all together but that is what school was about, right? Meeting new people making friends...Just like she and Needle always wanted to do! Except now she was out there and doing so on her own gave it a bit of a frightening aspect. Needle and Lattice had always planned to do this together...The ghoul uttered a homesick sigh and continued to wait.
She hoped the boil was nice and didn't shout at her like the one she accidentally sat on.

Generally speaking, homework wasn't something Seiji looked forward to, but considering the assignment and who he'd been paired with, this time around he didn't really mind. Lattice was the ghoul's name, a fellow ghost, but not one Seiji had actually met yet. He'd seen her in class though, and those needles in her arms had him a little intrigued. His left hand blacked and clawed, he knew what it was like to have to be careful with nearly everything you did.
Grabbing his phone, he tucked it along with a pen and small pad of paper into his back pocket, then grabbed his jar of trembling dust bunnies before heading for his door. Closing and locking it behind before heading down the hall towards the common room where they'd agreed to meet up.
She was already there, and Seiji offered the ghoul a smile as he approached. "Hey, didn't keep you waiting too long, did I?" Was he late, or was she just early? He hadn't looked at the clock before he left, but he coulda sworn he'd left himself enough to time to get down here.

Lattice's mind had wandered for a few moments until Seiji showed up. She straightened up a bit and shook her head at his question and moved to bow to him a bit in greeting, "Not at all, I got here a little early is all," she explained quietly as she gestured to what she had set up so far.
She paused a bit seeming to wonder what to do next. Lattice hadn't really expected to have to do anything with a fellow student so soon. "I...umm...Whenever you're ready, Seiji," Lattice said after a moment as she moved to turn her jar a bit.
"I..I think mine are playing dead...I saw one twitch..." Lattice said quietly as she bent to observe a little closer.

"Oh good, thought for a moment I'd lost track of time." He took a seat across from her and sat his jar on the table between them, then glanced over to her own trio of dust bunnies. They weren't moving, and honestly didn't look like they were just playing dead. It had dark brows raising curiously as he tapped the side of the jar softly. "You're sure?" His own bunnies, having spotted the lifeless ones across the table from them, began to panic. Squealing and darting around the jar in a desperate bid to escape.
"Er.. Mine seem to be afraid of me." He wasn't sure why. Sure, he hadn't been the most reassuring as he'd grabbed them and crammed them into the jar, but it wasn't as though he'd threatened them. ...Not that he could remember anyways.
He turned then to glance at everything she'd set up and what remained in the basket near her feet. "Wow, I fill a little under prepared." He pulled his own pencil and small pad from his back pocket and sat it on the table in front of him, then turned his curious gaze back to the ink in the basket. "Not to pry or anything, but what's the ink for?"

"Pretty sure." She replied as she reached out a hand and poked at the glass but none of them stirred just yet, "I mean don't...they disappear or something when they die?" She asked curiously as she looked away from the jar up toward Seiji. She may not know a great deal about minipets but she was aware of a couple of things - maybe.
Lattice tilted her gaze toward the ones he had caught and blinked behind her mask, "W..Well you are much bigger than them..Maybe it is because of that?" She hadn't really paid much attention to everyone else in the class as they went about catching bunnies it had been better to just focus on her own attempts.
The ghoul shifted her shoulders in a shrug, "It is just stuff I needed. It seemed easier to carry it all in a basket," she said with a small smile. It wasn't like she brought her whole room down with her that would have been awkward. "Oh the ink...Well, my vision is somewhat limited but I can see ink clearly...So I figured maybe if we put ink on the ones I think are playing dead I can see what they actually look like."

"Good question," he admitted after a moment, staring back at the three motionless dust bunnies in the jar. He wasn't entirely sure what happened to a minipet when they died, having never had one of his own croak. This far. He'd say his old zombie jox Dirge was on the brink, but he was a zombi. Frankly he wasn't sure if it was possible for the poor old thing to die. "I thought I heard that, somewhere, but I'm not entirely sure."
The squealing bunnies in his own jar were given a flat look before he rolled his eyes. "Maybe, but I wasn't rough with them. I think I just got lucky enough to get the the three most skittish ones in the classroom." Prodded a human finger against the side of the glass and one of the little gray critters gave a startled scream and fell over, twitching. "Melodramatic little.."
Talk of the ink was a very interesting distraction, and he looked back across the table at the ghoul. "You see ink?" Dark eyes dropped to her arms and the needles that were sticking through her skin. That sounded familiar, but right that moment he couldn't place why. He had heard of something though. "That's pretty cool. Ya if it'll help you see them, then sure we can dose them in ink. I don't see how it'd hurt it them way or the other." It was just ink, right?

She let out a soft hum and then shrugged a bit. If they were dead or not would be answered soon enough she felt and just was content with the moment of uncertainty. With a bit of deviousness creeping into her tone she simply said, "That is why it is called research." There was even a small grin for a moment before it faded away making one question if it was actually there to begin with.
Lattice blinked at the scream she heard, the ghoul tilted her head toward Seiji's jar, "Very melodramatic. I think they all were, really. Did you see how the Teacher seemed to dismiss them again with no problem? I think it was just a ploy to watch us run around uselessly." She huffed a bit. Not that she disliked the teacher but it was a bit frustrating to see the dust bunnies obey like that.
At the question she nodded a bit, "Yes. I can see ink very clearly, like if you have a speck of ink on your person I can see it very well." It was ink-vision not x-ray vision of course. When he agreed to the idea of introducing ink to the creatures she nodded a bit as she got out the ink vial into her hands. "Is there anything you want to try out on them in particular?"

A smirk slid along his lips at her tone of voice. Dark eyes narrowing gently at the three frantic dust bunnies cowering in his jar. Oh yes, they should be do some very extensive research on the little pests. He did look up though as she mentioned the ease at which their teacher had sent any remaining bunnies back under the bed, snorting in agreement. "Yes well, you'll learn soon enough that the faculty seems to take great pleasure in our.. " He paused, milling over an appropriate word. "Not really embarrassment, per say. Sort of how a kid will spill juice on a bunch of ants then watch them go crazy. " He waved his clawed hand around as he tried to explain.
His head tilted minutely to the side as she explained in a little more detail about the ink, and it finally dawned on him why it seemed to familiar to him. "You're an engraver, aren't you?" All the pieces seemed to fit. Granted, he could be wrong. "あなたは日本語を話せますか?" He was really going out on a limb here asking her this is Japanese, but it'd be neat if He and the others had another friend they could speak to in their native tongue.
As far as experiments went he had an idea. "We could always test that disappearing theory you mentioned." He narrowed his eyes back down towards the jars on the table. How come they couldn't have captured nice, well behaving little test subjects.

Lattice sighed softly as Seiji noted that teachers liked to pretty much toy with the students. Not that it was a bad thing - it kept everyone on their toes she supposed. Still it just seemed tiring to her somehow and she simply nodded, "I shall keep that in mind," Lattice replied simply. Not that she would rebel against the teachers or others in authority - at least not yet.
The ghoul blinked behind the mask and nodded slightly to his first question, "You know of us?" then there was a pause as he spoke to her in a different language and for a moment she had to decipher it before she spoke in common, "Yes, I speak it some but my accent is horrible. I can read and write it well." Then again Lattice always felt she could do better at anything she did. Her self-esteem was somewhere in the lower rung.
With a soft humming sound she nodded her head, "As long as we don't get in trouble for that sort of experimentation."
She uncorked the vial of ink she had she opened her jar and...simply poured it in, she didn't pour enough to possibly drown them but it did certainly make them suddenly active. Coughing, sputtering shaking around spraying ink everywhere. Lattice wisely put a hand over the top of the jar so ink wouldn't spray out of the jar as well.

The jikininki drummed human fingers along the table top, broad shoulders shrugging gently, although she might not have seen it. "Sort of. my adoptive parents are a pair of old haunts, and they have a lot of books on other ghosts. When I was bored I'd read them. You guys are mentioned in there briefly." He shrugged again, but smiled. "After we finish our homework, Do you think you'd be interested in meeting a few people? I bet you'd get on well with them."
Appealing as it might have been to drag the other ghoul along to meet some of his other friends, they had some research to do first. He'd asked, and they could worry about it later. For now, bunnies. "Oh, good point.. Then again, she did say research.." In truth he'd only really been half serious about offing one of the little pests. They were annoying and melodramatic, but did they really deserve death? Hnnng
He leaned forward as she poured the vial of ink into her own draw, snickering softly as the little beasts inside 'came alive'. "Little fakers."
Well jack, with murder out of the question, what should they do with the little pests? "We could maybe pull them out of the jars and see how they get along with each other? Assuming we don't end up losing them, of course."

"Ah, I see. Always good to read about other groups and the like," Lattice said encouragingly despite the knowledge being gained by boredom. The ghoul paused at the invite to do something after homework since she had to consider this carefully, finding a compromise she said simply, "Maybe not directly after this but in a few days. I have much to do before I am comfortable in my new surroundings."
A knot of anxiety formed due to the planned event but she ignored it as best as she could.
Lattice nodded thoughtfully and watched as the 'dead' rose yet again after being dosed with ink, "Yes, I don't know what inspired them to impale themselves in the first place," she murmured as she reached in to grab at one of them only to have them try to n** at her a little, quickly she retracted her hand.
"...Suddenly vicious as well." Lattice observed as she pulled her basket closer and simply poured the inked bunnies into it. She didn't want to make a mess around the common room, "Yes, let's see how they interact."

Red on black eyes flicked back up to the engraver at her response to his invitation, and her sat up a little straighter. "Oh no, I didn't mean directly after. More like.." He paused, frowning gently. "Now we've met, so making plans in the future isn't such a big deal?" He hoped he hadn't made her uncomfortable with his offer, that was the last thing he'd been going for. He just remembered being that new, and not really knowing anyone. He'd been lucky in making friends with Bul so quickly, and he and Junko had sort of been dating even before he'd gotten off the train to Amity. He'd managed to skip that awkward "newness" phase.
He left it alone for now and returned his attention to their homework. Watching as Lattice she reached into the jar for the dust bunnies, only to jerk it out again as they tried to n** her. "Cranky little buggers," he mused allowed, leaning forward once again. The basket was a good idea, though one ambitious little ink stained bunny made an ambitious leap for freedom. A flick from one dark claw knocked it back within the weaved prison. "So they impaled themselves on your needles?"
His own trio if subjects were far less aggressive as he reached in to scoop them up. They retained their cowardly state though as they were dropped within the basket, shying away from the darker lot to huddle against the side. One though seemed a little braver then it's fellows, and after a moment of nervous watching it seemed to venture forward cautiously. Curiosity winning out over fear. "Here we go, I wonder what they'll do."

"Oh. Alright, yes that is more than fine. No it isn't a big deal at all," she assured quietly smiling a little bit as she tilted her head up to look at Seiji, "I just wanted to make sure that we are on the same page. It is nothing to worry about." After all if he wanted to take her around and meet people directly after homework she didn't think she'd be able to handle it right now. She wanted to do some things in her room and perhaps go for a walk, have some Lattice time. "Thank you for the offer. I am delighted to accept it." She said simply.
Lattice let him take the job of being a 'goalie' so to speak since he had the better eyesight than she despite the fact that there were now three of them covered in ink. The ghoul nodded a bit at his observation. Lattice sighed lightly at the question put forth, "Yes, but if it was with intent to die I think they missed their vitals. Very poor attempt if that is what it was."
One of the inked bunnies razzed at her.
....
Once the others were in the basket the inked bunnies observed the shyer bunch before one of them hopped forward toward them almost looking intimidating for a small puff ball of dust and ink.

The jikininki seemed to perk a bit as they managed to reach a happy agreement about future plans, and he offered her a grin he wasn't sure she could see. "I look forward to it." She seemed like an incredibly sweet ghoul, and he knew Junko and the others would like her.
Back on the topic of bunnies, dark brows crept upward Lattice's bunnies' attempt at ritual suicide. "Strange little buggers," he offered thoughtfully, frowning at the 6 in the basket. "Not a whole lot they do makes any sense." Minis never acted that way, least none he'd come in contact with.
The curious little dust bunnie that had crept forward was currently rethinking such bold actions as one of the darker approached. It made a questioning little squeak of a sound, dusty little ears drooping down around the round sides of it's body.

"I look forward to it as well, Seiji," she replied quietly. It wasn't like meeting yet more people would hurt anything as long as she just kept moving forward as she was doing now she knew her Sister would be proud.
Lattice nodded in agreement, "Yes they are a little strange. The ones I dosed with ink seem a bit grumpy now, however." She said thoughtfully with a small shrug, "Before they were sad, despondent. Maybe I had displeased them?"
No. Really?
The inked dust bunny that came forward to intimidate watched as the un-inked version seemed appropriately submissive. It hopped forward a bit more gave the other bunny a nudge, perhaps these other ones would join the tribe after they toughen up a bit. Together they would rebel! *A*
