 The day was ending and Tsu could feel her body getting heavier and heavier with fatigue. Her day had been pretty slow and quite, some light hunting in the morning, relaxing by the lake, spending some time with her daughters, sisters, and the occasional popping in of Achal, but still it felt like she had spend the day hunting, running, and spending the day on her paws.
She was the first back to the den and the slight pain that zapped up her spine was the only indication that soon her cubs would be here. Remembering the first time she went through this Tsu hoped there would be time for Ban'ma, Maua, Achal or someone from her family to get home. She knew what was going on but that didn't mean she wanted to be alone.
Another pain streaked through her and with a groan Tsu laid down just inside of the den. "Achal. Ban'ma, Maua. Where are you." Her voice wasn't loud but carried worry with it. She could only hope that her family would be back soon((Any family member may jump right in, post order will not be aheared too))

 With a fat hare nestled deep within her maw, Ban'ma bounced proudly back to the den. It was the first catch she had ever made that wasn't completely mauled, and gruesome. Over time, hunting without the use of her non-existant claws was becoming easier, and today, she was planning on giving her prize to her expecting 'sister'.
All the joy in her smile was replaced with concern as soon as she laid eyes on Tsubame. Ban'ma hurriedly laid her catch to the side, and went to her Beybanu. "Tsu, sweetie? Is it time?" Ban'ma dipped her head to nuzzled against Tsubame in what she hoped was a comforting way.

 Thuraya had been making a habit of going and checking on her mother lately, she knew that soon she would have another litter of brothers and sisters. Thuraya had already started to feel the urge to have another litter, her litter now all grown and having litters of their own. Soon Kwea would want them too she was sure.
Thuraya stepped lightly on her feet as she made her way through the pride lands to the den she called home when she was a cub. A naturally small lioness Thuraya had never gotten much bigger then an adolescent yet she had such a large litter for not only her size but her age. Thuraya wondered how many cubs her mother might hold with in her and was excited at the chance that she might be present for the birth.
"Momma" Thuraya called out as she entered the den not far behind mother Ban'ma. Immediately she could see the time had come and was very happy that she had had the good timing to come by at this moment. She moved quickly to her mother's side.

When Ban'ma returned to the den shortly after the last contraction passed Tsu could only sigh in thanks. At least she wouldn't go through this alone. "Ban'ma why can't the males have the cubs rather then us?" her laugh was strained and laced with pain but at least she was trying to lighten the mood. The next contraction was strong and ripped through her petite frame. Even with trying to breath through it by the time it faded she was gasping and panting from the pain.
Once she was able to see clearly again she spotted Thuraya at her side. "Darling when did you get here?" She had completely missed the much smaller lioness entering the den shortly after Ban'ma.
Tsu was going to say something else when the contractions started again. Everything in here screamed out against the pain but she knew that it was normal, even if it felt stronger then the last litter's. It passed just as quickly as it came and left her panting again, her strength seeming to be sapped more and more each time the pain struck. "Soon I think. Soon, God's I can only hope." Her smile was small and didn't reach her eyes, "Next time Thuraya your father caries the cubs and gives birth to them."

Tsu was glad at least two of her family was there at that moment to help. If only to distract her from the pain. In the moment before a new contraction swamped her Tsu smiled genuinely at her daughter and sister. "I am glad that you guys are here for this. Ban'ma you will get a chance to welcome the cubs into the world again and Thuraya you can be the first to meet your siblings." The next contraction spiked and faded, if she had any guesses the first cub should be soon. "I just wish more of the boys would hurry home. They will miss watching their little siblings grow up."
She gasped as a new contraction struck, this one even stronger then the last several put together. Almost against her will Tsu began to push, it was time.
The first cub's fur was slick and dark but Tsu knew that when she, for it was a girl, would be a light brown with white ascents. Her little paws even had stylized mountains on them. Tsu wouldn't know who's eyes this new banu would have for a little while yet but she hoped that this cub had her father's eyes.
"Welcome to the world little one," she sighed as she nudged her to begin to suckle. Even knowing there were still more cubs Tsu just wanted to lay down her head and rest but the next contraction killed that idea. Just who would next be brought into this world and family?

The pain was fierce but Tsu just gritted her teeth and bared down. The pain was worth it if the next cub would be born healthy. The second cub entered the world. Her coloring was dark and Tsu could only wonder where those markings that she could see came from. It had to have been from either her unknown father or from Achal's side of the family. Either way the tired mother knew her daughter would grow up to be quite a beauty.
"Another daughter for Achal. We are kinda throwing off his even ratio apparently." She laughed weakly. Her joke fell flat and cold to the den floor but Tsu didn't really care, she wished that this was over, that she could finally lay her head down and sleep, but she knew it wasn't done. The next cub would arrive soon and soon it would be time to rest.

Ban'ma eased down by Tsubame, giving her den 'sister' an affectionate lick. When she pulled back, she gave a little laugh and smiled. "What, and let us miss all the fun?" She teased. The striped banu had seen Tsubame in this state once before, and having experienced it herself, she was more confident than ever that this would all turn out alright. Especially now that they had Thuraya to help.
"Keep her calm, dear." Ban'ma moved down to Tsubame's lower region to welcome each and every cub to the world. And what a rush! She helped to ease the young girls to their mother, being careful that they didn't cause any untoward stress on Tsubame while she worked on bringing their siblings into the world.
And again, Ban'ma laughed. It was partially forced, and a shady attempt to keep Tsubame's spirits high. "He'll love them all the same, sweetie. Besides, better to have a den full of girls then none at all." The cubs were so lovely. Dark as they were now, Ban'ma could generally guess as to what they would look like as they grew, and a part of her couldn't wait for all of her returning boys to smother them in love like she knew her daughter's would.

Thuraya purred gently as she stayed close to her mother, "I am glad that I will be among the first to meet my newest siblings." she whispered. She looked up at Ban'ma happy that there was yet another lioness her, during Thuraya's litter she had had her whole den around with her of course things had gotten a little hectic when Kifa had also gone into labour.
Before Thuraya knew what was what she had two new sisters born into the world, amazing was the only word that came to her mind. "You are doing wonderful mom, they are beautiful." she whispered still purring lightly. She helped clean off the new cubs pushing them up close to her mother so that they would stay warm.
Two new sisters it was amazing who cared about the ratio, more girls were always needed in the pride each den tended to have two or three females per male anyways. She was amazed at the beauty of her sisters and couldnt help but imagine what they would look like when they got older.

Tsubame could only smile shakily as she watched Ban'ma and Thuraya help care for the girls. She had only a breife respite from the pain of the contractions and she was going to try to calm herself so, if the gods were kind, the next contraction wouldn't pain her as much as the last two.
It didn't help
This time the pain rolled over her like a wave but the cub was born quickly as a result. He, the first boy of the litter, was marked even stranger then his sister. It has to be from my side of the family, she thought vaguely, a feeling disconnection was slowly seeping into her bones. I'm just tired. So what if this hurts more then the last time, each litter is different right? I'll feel better after I rest for a bit. I'm sure of it.

Thuraya was shocked when she saw the first male of the litter... she had never seen these colorings in her family before. She eyed her mother wondering if perhaps the markings and colors had come from somewhere in her family line... a whole family history that no one knew.
"Oh momma its a boy" Thuraya cooed happily. "He is so unique momma he is gorgeous you are doing great." Thuraya was happy to be here to coach her mother she remembered how much encouragement she had needed when she herself had gone through labour. Three cubs had already come and Thuraya wondered how many more could be in her other, her stomach still seemed large more were bound to be coming.

Tsubame smiled weakly. Two girls and a boy, not bad as it comes to cubs. She was proud to have both her daughter here and her sister here to help her with the birth of the next cubs to join the family.
The next contraction was just as strong as the others but the feeling of detachment that she had been feeling muffled her from the pain. It was like feeling the pain through layers of fluff. The cub that was born from this muffled pain was the second boy. Now she had two girls and two boys, it looks like we will remain pretty even her mind thought quietly. Unlike his brother this boy was most defiantly a mix of Tsubame and Achal. His fur would be her blue color, maybe a bit darker, but even with damp fur Tsu could see he had his father's mountains on his front paws.
It's not quite over yet, this she knew. There was still movement in her belly, so there were still cubs there. But Tsu also knew that soon she could rest.

Ban'ma could see things were going differently than before. As excited she was that two healthy Pesar's had been born to her Pad and Beybanu, her attention was on Tsubame. The other lioness seemed to be in more pain with this litter than the last, and that scared her. If she passed out, what would happen to the cubs? To her? There was no turning back, but it pained Ban'ma to not be able to do more for her sister.
Namir can help her afterwards, she thought. Give her an herb or something. Anything. "You're doing great, Tsubame," Ban'ma coaxed. "Just stay with us, okay? You have to be awake to see these beautiful little things."

Thuraya turned her head to her other mother... confused why was she saying these things. Thuraya's litter had not been an easy one but she had been so young when she had birthed them and she hadn't seen the birth of other cubs other then Kifa's who was in litter at the same tie as her litter. She eye Ban'ma wondering if there was something she wasn't seeing.
"Oh momma another boy." she whispered to her other. Thuraya was sure that her mother must be nearly done now, she had already had four cubs... that was a big litter for most but there was clearly more to come but she had to be close to being done. "We are almost there momma, Daddy is going to be so proud of this litter." she wished her father was here to see the birth of another one of his litters... her father were always so proud of his babies.

Tsubame heard Ban'ma coaxing her to stay awake. She sighed and smiled weakly, "I'm not going to nap just yet dear." Even if she felt as if she could sleep for two days Tsu dared not close her eyes before the last cub was born.
"They are going to be surrounded by girls until more of your brothers come home." She smiled at her daughter, the thought of these two boys surrounded and raised by girls just amused her. She was going to say something more when the next contraction struck.
The pain was still muffled but she could still feel the urge to push. The next cub was pale. She was Achal's light blue pale, even with her fur being dark. Tus knew that as she grew she would become a beautiful clear, sky blue with pops of white.
She was ready to just take a moment between contractions to take a breather so it came as a surprise that rather then a moment of calm the next contraction struck shortly after the last cub was born. The cub that was in such a hurry to arrive. Twins! It wasn't really surprising that there were twins, after all her first litter had two twins and now the next litter had its own twins.
There was a feeling of emptiness and a dragging feeling of tiredness. "Well I think that is the last cub. Ban'ma I guess I through off our balance." She laughed weakly. "I'm glad you guys were here with me and I think a nap is in order." Tsu's smile was tired and her body basically sagged with fatigued. Her eyes drifted shut and she slipped into the oblivion of sleep and slowly beyond. If only she knew that she would never wake up Tsu might have told her sister and daughter that she loved them as well as all the others. All her family was the light of her life. ((Tsubame will not post again))

Thuraya was over the moon when the twins were born, being a twin herself she always loved when they came into the world, though in her family they clearly were very popular. She watched as her mother started to drift to sleep trying to reassure herself that everything was normal... but she kept looking at Ban'ma for reassurance, but she didn't want to say anything. "They are all beautiful Momma" she whispered to her mother and giving her a loving lick on the top of the head.
She watched the cubs all in a big ball, her heart was filled with joy... a brief moment of happiness. Little did she know the sadness that would come soon. For the time though she didn't make any attempt to leave.
