what does everybody think of the trainee class from Fire Emblem TSS? I myself thought it was an interesting class with a lot of potential, especially since that was the only way to get a pirate in TSS as far as i know.

I think its a freaking awesome class. Much like the Recruit and the Pupil class. If you actually train them up, they become stronger than anyone else that can have those respective classes. So in my opinion, I always try and level them up and train them as much as possible. I just got Ewan up to Sage and he is already almost stronger than his teacher XP Amelia is a Paladin and she is stronger than Seth and Ross is much stronger than his father. It just takes a decent amount of work is all >.>

I like those types of characters. They always became one of my best and I like that I can train them from the start. The weak will become the strong. The trainee thing probably only really works for Sacred Stones since you have the tower to train.

Not exactly. It would work in any of the games that have Bonus Experience as well. But yeah, they are awesome, the most customizable, and the most fun to train since they are weak for so long. But then, after hours of work, you now have a Sage that can tank almost XP Or a Paladin that puts Seth to shame. HA HA HA!!! Its all so much fun.

D: Why would you make Ewan a sage?

Ewan is a ******** amazing Druid if you put in the work to get him there, and it never hurts to have a second dark magic user, since you only get the two.

And you made Amelia a paladin? x.x She is a General who always dodges and never misses! Come onnnn, man.

Highest potentials for the three: Ross - Berserker
Amelia - General
Ewan - Druid

Amelia is, in fact, a critmaster General.

He looks ridiculous as a druid and I don't like dark magic. I never use Knoll either. You can never have enough healers.

... They can both use healing staves.

And he's an unbelievable Druid. He had higher HP than Franz in my game, if I remember correctly.

A) I have to agree with askem2. I hate dark magic. Never liked it. Never will like it. And he is also right when he says you can never have enough healers.

B) Amelia makes a just as amazing paladin. Her crit chance even without a supporter nearby for me averages around 20%. With a supporter, it goes up to around 50 - 60%. That is because i have her at B rank with Neimi who is always with her. Plus, she can move more, hit just as good, and can do the double move action if she didn't attack which has saved my butt many a time. Generals are nice, but they are just too slow for a lot of the strategies I like to use.

C) Ross makes a much better Warrior in my opinion. I love being able to have the possible archery support that he can grant and by goly he does a ton of damage with those bows.

...Why bother making him a mage at all, when you've got Lute, who you've had a long while before him, and is so not lesser than him? You also have Saleh who is also not lesser than him. Ewan is way behind and as a trainee class, is even more way behind- I'll let FD come in here and properly rant about him.

Ewan would be the only early on dark magic user you can get in the game.

Again, ignoring Dark Magic is like ignoring axes. It's all well and good until a high-level sage comes along and you've got nothing to match them up against. And Druids and Summoners can use staves so they are healers too.

And... dude. Paladins got nerfed hard in FE8. As a Great Knight or General she dominates the weapon triangle, does tons more damage, and oh-- STILL HAS A MASSIVE CRIT CHANCE. She is a CRITMASTER General. Give her the boots and General Amelia can wipe out battlefields entirely on her own.

Ross is a good warrior. But a Berserker can walk across water, gets a huge crit bonus, much higher damage, and tomahawks can be substituted for bows without sacrificing the ability to fight in melee.

Hmm. In my next playthrough, I will try playing with Amelia becoming a general. It might be an interesting change of pace. Same with making Ross into a berserker and Ewan into a Druid.

And as to why making Ewan a mage at all, thats because all trainee classes have been proven to become better than their other prestarted subordinates. Its admitted in the guide. You just have to put the agonizing effort of training them without getting them killed.

Oh. And another reason i made her a paladin and him a warrior is because it looks cooler XP I always like having cooler looks in games. I admit it XP

Next time you play, train both Ewan and your second favorite mage to both be level 20 Sages. Do not use any boosting effect items on them. Thats what both of mine are at right now and Ewan has Saleh beat. I dont know if he would be better than Lute, I must admit as to that, but he has Saleh beat. Even if only by like 2 points on average per skill, but he does have him beat >.<

Yes, I have done this before, however they were EQUAL! Why bother to train someone to be something that someone will already be handling, (in this case Lute being a sage master where she is the BEST from what I hear,) when he could be a kickass Druid or Summoner, where it would be needed since the Dark Magic class only has Knoll left.

I'll stick to Serenes' objectivity, thanks.
