User Image Lan'tis had been traveling for a good portion of the night in the rogue lands in hopes to find a place to settle down now that he moved away from his temperary home. He was so lost in thought that he paused in shock at the spongy warmth below his feet. This wasn't right, Lan'tis thought to himself as he looked around grass had given away to sand and warmth. He looked behind himself to see the cool grassy atmosphere of the Rogue Lands to this new place.

Most interesting occurance. He paused to take in what was before him. It didn't look to bad, and he did always prefer warmth to cool. Odd little stone-like structures stuck out from the tan earth and trees that he had never seen before littered this new land.

I'm sure he's simply busy, dear. He is the vizier. Mamake attempted to soothe her young daughter as they wandered over the dunes towards the brushlands where Beltaine would be able to find more material to carve into various figurines and the ilk. The stonework, as much as she loved it, had begun to make the little lioness' paws raw from wearing down the rough surface. At least wood was more malleable and would save her daughter--devoted as she was to her craft--from completely abusing her body. For now anyway.

M-maybe... It was a lame response, but the only thing Bel could manage to say to appease the doting waterbuck at her side. She knew Mamake worried about her happiness, the way any good mother would. It was the only reason she kept from speaking aloud the statement that ran through her mind. If I were him.. I wouldn't want me either.

You know when he has the time to spare, he'll find you. The wise female stated in a tone that suggested that she better than her child about such matters. Of course, Beltaine wasn't exactly sure how. As long as she had known Mamake, the waterbuck had never possessed a mate or fraternized with males of her own kind. Then again, she supposed it was like a daughter to question her mother's logic. Musing softly, Hopefully..

Between the pair of them, they seemed not to notice the pitch black lion headed in their direction until they were nearly on top of him. Beltaine was the first to take notice, pausing dead in her tracks as her ears folded against her head. Calling to her mother nervously. Mom. Mom! Mom stop! There's a lion!!

It was the noise he heard first, then out of the corner of his eye Lan'tis spotted a lone lioness... and a waterbuck? Huh, but who was he to judge anothers preference. Blue eyes moved from waterbuck back to the lioness, if he didn't know any better he would have thought the waterbuck had given birth to the lioness or viseversa. Pretty little thing with an interesting fur pattern. He cleared his throat, "Where do I find myself? " He paused before continuing. "This land it interests me and I would like to know the name. The weather is quite... lovely." He purred out the last word with happiness that he rarely showed.

He sat down and made himself comfort as he waited for his answers. She looked like a bundle of nerves, as he would attack a female. That was not his way in the least and he frowned at just the thought of it.

Drawing up into a stop several feet from the stranger, Mamake turned her gaze at the male with an inquisitive cant of her head. Blinking large, round, rose colored eyes. Strange to think that they could have missed such a dark coated fellow until just now. He stood out like an oasis amidst all the sand. When he spoke, he certainly seemed polite enough. Particularly given to the sort of overbearingly superior manner the doe was accustomed to receiving. She could appreciate that much. You've wandered into the pride territory of the Tuait'tekem, dark one. The Dawn Walkers as they are better known. I'm Mamake and this is my daughter....

Glancing at her side, she seemed startled to find that the meager-sized little lioness had disappeared from her side. Turning a puzzled look all the way over her shoulder. Beltaine, stop cowering and come over here! I'd like you to introduce yourself, this is your pride as well you know. You would do well to take some heed of those who enter it.

Grimacing at her mother's scolding tone the Tuait Artisan made a face that expressed her reluctance to meet the unfamiliar lion, friendly or not. I'm not a guard. I'm an artist.

She stated at first as if to clear the air of any misconceptions about exactly what she did in this pride while slinking to stand beside her mother. The wooden star lashed to her tail carved lines in the sand with every uneasy twitch. Adding cautiously afterwards, gaze fixed on her pale toes. My name is Beltaine.. w-what do you want with us?

Beltaine! A motherly hiss of embarrassment escaped Mamake, before she offered the stranger an apologetic smile. I'm sorry for my daughter, she's not accustomed to strangers. What brings you to the desert, stranger?

He listened to the waterbuck with interest. "Oh? " He tilted his head, almost imitating the others same stance. "Pleasure to meet the both of you. The Dawn Walkers hmm? And... Tuait'tekem?" He jerkingly pronounced the name of the tribe, he hoped he didn't butchered the name to badly. Lan'tis also raised his eyebrow at the little femmies shy behaviour. "An artist? Guard? Huh, you must have some sort of system." His interest clearly going towards the duties of a guard, but he tuned in just in time to hear the lioness speak.

An amused smile crossed his face at Beltaine's words"Ah, how rude. I did not introduce myself, I am called Lan'tis." He bowed his head in a gentlemenly gesture. "No need for apologies ma'am. As for what brings me this way... well I was just wandering the rogue lands for a place to stay. You see my old home was destroyed by a passing storm and I had no pride support to help clear up the mess. So I decided it was time to start a new life elsewhere." He stopped there to let his cyan eyes gaze around the land. "This place interests me quite a bit. What would one do inorder to be accepted into this tribe?"

It's pretty elaborate.. but it seems to work. Beltaine admitted, giving the odd looking lion a cautious once over, before feigning disinterest again to avoid holding his gaze. But she was interested. His pelt was pitch black like the night sky with pin-p***k points of light that looked suspiciously like star constellations and even if they weren't, that was what Beltaine saw. Everyone knew how much the buff colored artisan loved the stars.

As the rogue introduced himself she sat beside her mother, trying to pay attention to the conversation, but failing miserably. Lovingly leaning against Mamake to lick the waterbuck's speckled shoulder as she conversed.

It's nice to meet such a polite lion. I'm sorry to hear of your troubles. It's really a shame that such things happen, but perhaps it was the gods way of saying that it was time for a change of scenery. Either way, I'm sure the pride will be glad to have you. Smiling kindly at Lan'tis, Mamake nuzzled Bel's ears gently while considering who in the pride it would be best for him to speak to to find acceptance. Obviously they couldn't have strays just wandering up to the Pharaoh seeking admission into the pride. There was only one lion who came to mind in this situation. One she was sure would get Beltaine's attention. Gaze lifting demurely. Well.. I suppose if it's admission into the pride you seek. The best lion to speak to would be the pride's Vizier, Matifu.

Lan'tis nodded his head as he watched as the two females affection clearly could be seen by anyone. "Yes, I will have a talk with this lion about enterance. Thank you for your advice and yes it really was... disheartening but I agree sometimes changes takes you to better things." He turned around to the lioness to speak with her. Lan'tis did not want her to think he was ignoring her. "I see. Well I suppose I will become used to it if I am accepted into this pride." He moved his body to a standing position, his markings somewhat sparkling with his movements.

"I don't suppose you could show me around this place? If that is allowed of course, then we can go to this Matifu later on and await my acceptance. " He tilted his head waiting their answer.

Both ears, chocolate and white as they were, twitched attentively at the mention of the lion she'd had a crush on since she was young. A distinguished older gentleman Beltaine had become quite close to since arriving in the pride. That in and of itself was a feat. Giving her mother a side-long glance. Using Matifu to get her more involved in pride ordeals, her mother was a clever, old shrew. Reluctantly, she conceded defeat to the doe. W-well.. I guess we could put off collecting wood for a little while. Since he's here.. and all. Can't have him walking around.. unescorted and stuff. Guards might get the wrong idea.

Smiling good-naturedly, Mamake gave the lioness a gentle nod of agreement before returning her gaze to Lan'tis. I agree. We wouldn't want him to be accidentally attacked.

And then after a further moment of thought, as if considering whether not not the idea of a tour would be the best idea at the moment. They did have errands to run themselves, but seeing this lion to someone who would be able to better inform him on the necessary steps to joining the pride was their first priority. Well.. I'm sure we'll be able to show you some of the sites along the way, but it would probably be best to wait on a more elaborate tour until after you're safely recognized as one of the Tuait'tekem. Come along, both of you.

Directing the pair of lions in a mothering way, the herbivore turned on her hind hooves and started back towards the inner sanctuary of the pride. Not waiting to be beckoned a second time Beltaine quickly gathered herself and followed so close to her mother's hocks that her head nearly buffeted against them. She didn't like unfamiliar lions following behind Mamake, particularly because Bel always felt as if they were ready to pounce on her.

"I thank you kindly for all your help, the both of you." He nodded his head at the advice of the waterbuck. "Alright, a mini tour is better than nothing I suppose." He begun to follow both females deeper in the Tuit after Beltaine practicely ran towards her adopted mother. Raising a brow and chuckling to himself he looked around at all the runes and temple. It was quite a lovely place and he found himself liking it more than the Rogue Lands.

Humming an old tune in contentment looking this way and that, he almost ran into a small rock formation. "Is this the place where I must talk with the chief of the tribe?" He pointed off in the distance. "I thank you ladies, after this journey is done I would like to go off on my own if that is possible? Not that I don't appreciate your help but I feel better on my own for now and trying to get used to surviving these lands." He spoke the last part hurridly. He looked up at the large temple and then at them once more. "I take it this is the place."

Along their journey Mamake pointed out the various directions which would lead to other areas of the pride. The most important ones anyway. The river. The oasis that served as the pride's main watering hole. The two mountains that their temple sat between. And the tombs are behind the temple a ways, they're rather interesting. You should take a look at them when you have the time!

The doe encouraged with a smile as they approached the hall of sphinx which lead to the entrance of the temple. Nodding in answer to Lan'tis' question. Yes, the Vizer that you seek will be inside, I'm sure. I understand.. and wish you the best of luck. We should be on our way as well if we're to gather crafting materials before it becomes dark.

An addressing sort of glance was cast towards Beltaine purposefully, after all it was she who had wanted to venture out in the first place. Somehow though, Mamake had a sense her daughter was far too distracted to be bothered with something so trivial.

Ahh.. I know.. but I think.. I think I should take him to see Matifu. Bel began, mind racing for a legitimate reason in order to see the lion. Truthfully, she wasn't even sure if they were supposed to be bringing unfamiliar rogues this far into the pride territory without first consulting a guard. The chances that Matifu would scold her for her actions was a risk she was willing to take just to see him, though she'd need to have an excuse ready, to say the least. He won't know who he's looking for and it could be a bad idea to send a rogue into the Temple alone! No matter how polite he's been thus far.. I think it would be a good idea to let others more knowledgeable than us be the judge of that. No offense.

The last words were stated hurriedly, but almost insincerely. It wasn't that the artisan didn't like Lan'tis, she simply didn't know him and that made her rather wary by nature. Without waiting for the pair to give her proposition much consideration, least either one disagree with it the creme colored figure was already bounding towards the entrance in a hurry. C'mon! Lets go! Before he heads out for his next rounds!

Lan'tis blinked at the sudden rush of the female and suddenly she was gone running up towards the temple. He raised an eyebrow at the behaviour before moving towards the waterbuck and bow. "Thank you for this kindness, it will not be forgotten." He voice deepened with gratitude. "Alright here I go. A new adventure awaits me." He whispered almost to himself a smile slowly gracing his handsome face. Then he followed the female up into the temple and disappeared into the shadows.

END.
