Huang had come to the one place he hated more then anything, the sunken battle fields. Blood had stained the ground permanently, making the ground barren and dead. Many Lunarians had died on this soil, why would the land ever grown anything more was beyond him. He was hot, rubbing the sweat off his face. He was after a certain noble leader, one by the name of Shinta Ringo. His sister was the Suzaku of the Legions and yet, the brother had defected to the noble side.
The rumors of his mother's involvement with the crazed apple scented noble had led Huang to the battlefield he didn't want to be in. He had snuck himself into a noble battalion, claiming to be of noble alliance in a master disguise that no one who hadn't met him before would ever be able to recognize him with.
He was careful and cautious as he moved with the group, disappearing when they raided on the Legion's to "defend" while actually taking member and member of his own group. Sadly his luck didn't last long as they met up with another group of Lunarians, one that held a most famailer face.
Kiran!
Huang panicked, If Kiran recognized him then he would be screwed over. He tried to duck out in case the other fighter noticed him.

A nervous thrill coursed through him as he followed along with the other Nobles of his group. It was his first official mission since his graduation from the Academy. It almost had a surreal feeling, like he was dreaming rather than actually being there. But as they made their advancement and fighting broke out against the Legions, reality sank in quick and hard. This was just a back alley scuffle. This was a real battle.
If he remembered correctly, the Noble leading the mission was one by the name of Shinta Ringo. But Kiran hadn't yet seen the Noble. He only heard the orders barked down the line, and he followed whatever orders came his way. He swept his gaze around at his fellow Nobles in the group. Not many, if any, looked familiar to him, but he guessed he would have to start learning their names if he was going to be fighting along side them in this war.
Another battalion group approached. Kiran threw a glance at them, but not many of them looked familiar either. He would have expected to find at least one familiar face among all the Nobles. Hadn't they all attended the Academy together? Or at least some of them looked young enough to have attended the Academy at the same time that he had. But he guessed he really hadn't taken notice of many of the Lunarians that he actually had classes with. His gaze drifted back ahead of him when something caught his attention. In the sea of unfamiliar faces, one stuck out, and Kiran almost ground to a halt but managed to keep moving like he hadn't noticed anything.
Was that really Huang?
He frowned at the thought of a Legion in their midst. Especially that Legion. His gaze lingered on Huang as the two battalions passed each other. If he saw Huang sneaking off from the group, he planned to follow him. He broke off from his own battalion and moved to joined the one passing it.

Huang could almost see the the Captain he wanted, he was yelling orders to the Battalion that Kiran was part of. He just needed to get the man alone. Making a quick escape from the current group he was with, he sheltered himself among the tree's of the Noble camp and watched the captain with Hawk eyes.
Goddess the man didn't move with out a entourage of people. Huang grabbed the needle's that were his primary weapon before thinking of just how to attack Shinto without bringing the wrath of the nobles in the whole area. Damn, he really didn't think this out. Maybe he would just grab intel on the man.
Huang hadn't noticed that Kiran had followed him until he heard a twig snap behind him. He swung his body around dangerously fast, Needles came out to move fully against the enemy. Damn, an attack in the middle of the noble camp, had he been noticed already!?!?
"Following is a rude way to gain someone's attention." Huang called his follower out, waiting to see who he'd have to kill before he made a quick escape. Ringo could wait until another day if Huang made it out alive.

Kiran knew he would be in big trouble for breaking rank. The Captain shouting orders didn't seem to take things like that lightly when he started raging at one of the other Nobles for stumbling out of line. Kiran caught a glimpse of the boy being berated and noticed he looked about the same age as Kiran. He frowned, seeing the boy was about to break down from the Captain's screaming in his face.
But his attention strayed from the Captain when he caught movement from the corner of his eye. He saw the Lunarian break away from the battalion and moved to follow, glad that Shinto's attention was focused on another new member of the squad at the moment. He could move easily into the shadows, keeping out of sight of his fellow Nobles while tracking the rat that sneaked into their ranks.
Stealth had always been something that he excelled out, scaling walls and moving about silently out of sight. Kiran doubted the Legionnaire had noticed that he had been spotted and was now being followed. Snap! The twig breaking under his foot echoed loudly in his ears. He halted, every one of his muscles tensing as he listened for the Legionnaire's response to that dead give away to his presence.
A cocky grin spread across his face. He recognized that voice at once. "You're not exactly being polite either, Huang. Creeping into our numbers," Kiran pointed out. His hands slipped behind him, grabbing hold of his tonfas.

Huang had been so close to Shinto, He could almost smell the apple blossom scent he shared with his sister. He had watched as Shinto yelled like a mad man at a poor noble solider and half admired, half berated his command. If your soldiers weren't worth having in the army, then they should be sent home. Most of the Legion's seemed like that as well, If you weren't strong enough in the time of war, then there was no point in you being there. You'd only burden your allies.
Huang had never been fond in the logic but at the same time, Their army wasn't desperate for members like the Nobles. Nobles took the most hot headed of the academy students it seemed like and used their young blood and passion to funnel into the deviousness of the Nobles actions against the Empire. It was despicable, No wonder Shinto was a captain.
Huang grimaced as Kiran made himself known and frowned, the twig had been the only way for Huang to know the other boy had come upon him, How could it be so like that? Huang was always aware of his surroundings. Then again, he remember Kiran to be a stealthy thief, the last time the met had been to argue over a fishing hole spot. Huang remember the utter defeat he had faced that day in shame.
"Polite isn't the word I was going for there Little Kiran grown. I intentionally meant harm in your numbers after all." Huang frowned at the cocky grin, readying his needles in case the other man though he would sneak upon him again, "Unless your going to attack me Kiran, Why have you followed me, aren't you afraid of your wonderfully Apple Captain might come breaking down the woods in search of you?"

Kiran's hands gripped his tonfas tightly was he watched Huang, waiting for any sign of movement that would indicate a surprise attack. Their last encountered had ended in his victory. He still felt a smug cockiness from that, but they had both grown since that last meeting. If it came to a fight, would he still be able to win against Huang?
His eyes narrowed at Huang. Doubt had no room on the battlefield. If he started letting doubt weasel its way into his mind, that would only leave him open for errors. He needed to stay focused on the situation that he was in at that exact moment.
Huang had successfully sneaked into their numbers, and no one had even noticed. Whatever his mission, he probably could have easily pulled it off, if Kiran hadn't recognized him and decided to follow him. That was actually a scary thought. How many other Legionnaires might have sneaked in along with Huang? With so many new recruits in the different battalions, the Legionnaires could easily have sent in a small battalion of their own to mix in with the new Nobles. With all the new faces, it would be hard to tell if someone didn't actually belong there.
"Oh, and here I thought maybe you'd defected," Kiran said, unable to keep the sneer off his face. He was only needling the other, knowing full well that Huang hated the Nobles. At least, that was the opinion he got after their fight. But gossip did have a way of spreading, and when one had an ear fin open for any juicy bits of information, he tended to pick up some of that gossip from time to time.
His gaze darted briefly to Captain Shinto before he snapped his attention back to Huang. "I really doubt he would notice my presence disappeared from the battalion. I'm just a faceless new recruit. Plus he's too busy making that poor boy cry." Kiran shook his head, wondering how that boy even made it into the Noble's army when he broke so easily. "And someone has to keep an eye out for you Legionnaires."

Any thoughts of the previous meeting with Kiran were pushed aside when Huang face him again. He had lost once against Kiran, he didn't plan to do the same. After all, if a Fight came down to it, Huang would need to escape before he drew more then the noble fighter eye's to himself and caused a situation he couldn't escape from.
Huang could tell that Kiran was slowly dissecting the plan of Huang sneaking in and grinned cockily, as if he could read the boys thoughts. If he was Kiran, he would be worried if there was more Legionnaires that snuck right into the group of new recruits. Haung was sure, because he wasn't the first to receive such a mission that there had been at least three other Legionnaires hidden among the ranks. But there was no way in the Goddess's realm that he was going to go up to them after being found out by Kiran. The last action he would have to do is battle his way out of here, and make sure Kiran didn't say a word, if it meant sewing the boys mouth shut well...Huang really had no other choice.
"Defected?" Huang looked at Kiran before growling, "And where would you get such a idea that I would defect to the despicable ways of the Nobles dear Kiran?" Huang's blood ran cold at the thought, had there been something that had lead the nobles to believe that Huang or any of his family had turned? it couldn't be that his confirmation that his mother had made her ways in the ranks of Nobles could it? He took a shallow breath as his anger rose. Just who did Kiran think he was? Needling him that way like it was nothing important.
He watched Kiran's gaze drop to Shinto before sneering, so Kiran wanted to tell the captain of their meeting? Well it would have to be over his dead body. "Quite the sneaky one you are." Huang didn't say that with admiration though, he did admire that Kiran wasn't just some idiot and was in fact, sense able. That was dangerous. "And just what is your plan for me Kiran? Going to report me? Drag me into the Noble Camp and torture me? Or will you just kill me off?" Huang flipped his needles out, just in case any of his predictions came true.

Kiran eyed the Legionnaire, trying to determine if any signs of a tell would slip onto Huang's face. He was searching to see if Huang might give away whether there were other Legionnaires currently mixed in with the rest of the new recruits. Maybe a quick glance to give away the general location of one, but Huang's face was difficult to read. He clearly would not be giving any hints out freely about his plans or any other Legionnaires' plans that he knew of. It was only his misfortune that Kiran happened to be there and recognize him.
Kiran rolled one shoulder in a shrug, pretending to look bored with the topic. "Oh, you know, dear Huang," he replied flippantly. "People talk. Sometimes other people overhear things." He laughed hollowly. "Really, if people wanted things to stay secret, it would be wise for them not to speak of things in such public settings where it's easy for a stray person to hear their secrets." He often wondered why no one thought about that. They whispered secrets where other people could easily listen in on the conversation, and rumors then spread like wildfire.
Another shrug rolled through his shoulder. He liked to be sneaky. It was simply a part of his nature. If he didn't keep alert for one thing or another, he was certain he would lose his head for his carelessness. It seemed, despite being a Captain, Shinto slacked off on taking note of his surroundings. If he paid more attention, perhaps Shinto would have been aware, himself, that a Legionnaire had sneaked into their ranks. But Shinto seemed more concerned with barking like a mad dog at the recruits that had just joined him.
"I could report you," Kiran agreed. "But in the time it took me to inform our dear Captain, you'll probably have sneaked away. Unless I were to shout and give away your location right now." He turned, mouth opening wide as if to call out to his fellow Nobles. But he closed his mouth with a wicked grin spreading wide. Why give the spoils of victory to someone else if he could fight and win himself? His ego was talking, but Kiran decided to listen to it. "But I don't know. Last time we fought I beat you so easily." It was an exaggeration, but Kiran couldn't stop himself from poking at Huang like he was a sleeping lion just waiting to pounce on the unsuspecting idiot. Kiran realized he was the idiot in that scenario but continued the poking anyway. "Perhaps I'll just take you out right now."

Huang's face remained blank as Kiran stared at him. It was like trying to hide the fact that he knew a secret from a curious child. One twitch would set them off in the direction Huang was trying to avoid, and so his face remained eerily stony as he continued the stare down with Kiran.
He gritted his teeth when Kiran looked away and rolled his shoulder, as if what they talked about meant nothing. To Kiran though, It didn't mean anything like it did to Huang. He could feel his teeth crunching when the other man spoke again. "I am not your Dear, Kiran." Huang huffed out before crossing his arms, "People talk, and people remain silent and then People betray one another with their talk and silence Kiran. Unless you have a point as to why your taunting me with a secret, then I have no use of your game." Huang continued to stare icily at the boy as he dismissed Kiran's antic, if he wanted to tell, well he would've by now. Huang had no time for games when Ringo was nearby.
"You could...." Huang cocked his head and laughed, loudly. "I will give you that Kiran, by the time you had turned your back, I would've been gone in the familiar woods and before you had even reached your captain I would've been back at a Legion's camp. You would've wasted a good opportunity." He waited for Kiran to shout before realizing this was all part of the game Kiran played. Well If he wanted to play, Huang could do the same.
"Last time we fought it was for nothing more then a fishing hole." Huang gritted his teeth again, "I would be glad to show you just how I've improved." Huang readied his needles for a attack, "I'll send you back to the camp, crying for your noble captain to avenge you." Huang said, gesturing to Ringo who was getting away from their view. It looked like this wouldn't be his chance to talk to the man.

Kiran continued to look uninterested in the current topic. But that idle gossip that he overheard recently apparently hit a nerve with Huang. "People talk more than they stay quiet," he said, shifting his position slightly, subtly, as he continued to watch Huang. "But I guess rumors spread by women with nothing better to do than talk and talk wouldn't be of any interest to you. Usually, it's just boring gossip anyway. But I thought maybe you'd have some concern over talk about the people of your family and chatter about the Nobles." Being gossip, Kiran had no proof, of course, that any of it was true. But it had nothing to do with his family, so he didn't bother trying to hunt down any truth in what he heard.
He nodded, seeing truth in the statement. Kiran didn't doubt that Huang could pull off the escape just as he described it. That was a strong reason for why he didn't go scampering off to his Captain, as many other Nobles under his command might. If Captain Ringo got angry and started yelling at him later for not informing him immediately of the Legionnaire that sneaked into their camp, well, Kiran at least would have a complete breakdown like that other Noble recruit that got yelled at earlier. He was bound to get yelled at one way or the other no matter how things turned out. And he would stand by his actions, believing he was doing the right thing in the current situation.
"Gee, I hope you're not still sore over that," Kiran said as a crooked smirk stretched wide across his face. But his eyes narrowed, refusing to be distracted from his keen observation of the Legionnaire. If he let his guard for a second, it could spell the end for him. "Oh please, do show me. But trust me, I haven't be sitting idle twiddling my thumbs like a fool all this time either." He trained for hours daily to improve his skills. At the thought of Ringo avenging him, he snorted. Maybe the man would, but Kiran didn't know him well enough to believe that Ringo would think him worthy enough of seeking revenge. "I don't cry." The words slipped past his lips, cold as ice, and he glared at Huang. "But you're welcome to try, for all it's worth. But you'll be the one crawling back to your camp. Assuming you can even manage to crawl after I'm finished with you."
