There were still a few things to take care of, and he could more officially move in.
It was a prospect both thrilling and scary, he had to admit. Even if, at the base, it wasn't things he didn't already do, but the... official-ness of it make it different. It was a big step. A huge leap.
Kinda.
Through now this had been put on the side for a bit - Bell had to step out, so he had to step in to watch Ainsley for a bit.
Which was good, because there was something he needed to do, anyway...
"Ainsley ?" He called out as he closed the door behind him, stepping out to the living room. "Ainsley ? There's a friend I'd like you to meet !"
He set the carrier he'd been holding on the carpet, and waited.

Bell had told Ainsley that soon Xavier would be moving in with them and Ainsley had no problem with that! She really liked Bell's friend Xavier and having him around more often would certainly be fun! He was nice and liked to take her out and do things with her. He had even gotten her a new rabbit friend, a knight for Prince Octavian Oswald, Sir Cornelius. He was a bit worn, but Ainsley was happy to give him a loving home.
She was upstairs when she heard her name being called from downstairs, attending to the Word of the Day calendar study that she did each day. Well, she had been. She was more or less daydreaming at this point but she quickly snapped out of it when she had heard that familiar voice. Xavier was here! She dropped what she was doing and quickly left her room, hurrying down the stairs in an excited manner.
"Xavier!" She called back to him before she could see him.
It didn't take long, the child coming to a stop when made it to the bottom of the stairs. He wasn't in the doorway now, so she looked in the kitchen first and when she didn't find him there she made her way into the living room where she found him. Her eyes settled on him, and then they quickly dropped down to what he had set on the carpet. What was it?
"Here you are," she smiled at him gently. She was always happy to see Xavier.

"Sorry." Was his answer after Ainsley had pretty much looked for him everywhere. He hadn't meant to have that happen, but he thought a carpet would be better for this.
The carrier meowed. Well, what was in the carrier did, and if Ainsley was looking through the gate, she would see two little green eyes looking back at her.
"My, arn't you in a hurry ?" Xavier knelt down to open the gate, one hand going in to carefully pull Tempo out. She meowed again, looking all around her - a little startled by the change in environment but clearly feeling safe in her owners' arms.
"That's Tempo, my cat. Im sure she'll get along with Cora just fine." It wasn't like she'd had a bad reaction to *********, after all.
The tuxedo cat was now stretching out, sniffing curiously at Ainsley's face. New person !

"I forgive you," she said immediately after Xavier's apology. She wasn't sure what he was apologizing for but she certainly wasn't going to be upset at him for it, especially if she had no idea what it was for!
The child had been staring at the cat carrier all the while and she was a bit surprised when the carrier meowed, even though it was a cat carrier. She decided to investigate, her head tilting to the side so she could get a better look inside of the carrier. Her blue eyes caught sight of something...! There were two green eyes staring at her just as curiously as she was looking at them.
She hadn't expected Xavier to bring a cat with him, but it certainly wasn't a bad thing. Ainsley loved animals so much and to meet a new one just made her smile. They were so nice, soft and usually friendly with her. She always tried her best to befriend them, and to stand up for what the little animals couldn't. She watched the cat look around the living room, Ainsley kneeling down to her knees on the carpet.
"Hello Tempo, my name is Ainsley. It is nice to meet you," she whispered, holding out her hand to the cat. She looked like she had a little tuxedo on! " You look just like a gentlemen, I mean gentlewomen!"

Ainsley liking this new furry friend was not something Xavier had envisaged as a problem, and neither was Tempo getting along with Cora - through it probably helped that Cora wasn't a normal cat and that Tempo got along with other cats.
The change of setting was what worried him, but he figured it was nothing some attention wouldn't help along.
"She came nicely dressed for the occasion." Was the amused reply to Ainsley's statement. Tempo sniffed at her fingers now, then tentatively rubbed her head against her hand.
The message was clear - you may commence the petting now, human.

"You got dressed up just to come here?" She asked.
How sweet was that? It was definitely sweet enough for a smile to come to Ainsley's face at the thought of it. The smile on her face could only widen when Tempo began to rub against her fingers, sending Ainsley an open invitation to give her pets. Her hand began to rub the top of Tempo's head, making sure to scratch behind her ears as the other hand shot over Tempo's head and down the length of her back to give her full rubs.
"Aren't you a good kitty!" She announced to the living room.

"Well, she had important company to meet..." He smiled.
Most boys his age would probably have felt awkward sitting in the middle of a living room carefully holding a cat to a 10 years old, but Xavier seemed perfectly at home with it.
As for Tempo, well, she was appreciating the attention, a low purr getting started as her ears were scratched.

"Xavier, she's purring!"
Ainsley pointed it out like he wouldn't have been able to hear it, let alone feel it, as he held Tempo. She was such a good cat, like Cora! The child hoped the two cats would get along. She'd only ever seen Cora meet other talking cats and Ainsley had no idea how she would react to a normal cat. Would Cora like her? Would Tempo like Cora?
"Xavier, do you think she'll like Cora?"

"She is, she loves meeting people... Here."
Tempo was carefully transferred into Ainsley's arms, and she didn't seem to mind the change of arms one bit. Sure, the second she was put down she was likely to bolt under some random piece of furniture in cat-in-new-environmental fashion, but for now all the attention seemed to be winning out.
"I don't think there will be a problem... She loves other cats." And Cora... well, he hoped Cora would be patient with the normal feline.

"Ah," Ainsley whimpered out as the cat was passed into her own arms, taking a moment to adjust to holding her. She tried to be careful with Tempo, not wanting to have the cat become uncomfortable in her arms. She wanted it to be pleasant for the both of them, soon finding a way to snuggle her face against the top of Tempo's head as she continued her petting and rubbing over the cat's soft "tuxedo"... if only you could get a real tuxedo like that.
"Oh Tempo, you're so soft," she giggled. "I hope Xavier is right and you like Cora. She's super pretty and really nice, she even has a little caplet that will match your dashing tuxedo."

Tempo might as well have melted in Ainsley's arms, honestly - she was now all but purring putty in the child's hold, lapping all the attention happily.
"I think she likes you more than she likes me." He said with an exaggerated pout. "I should get her a bowtie to match Cora's little collar." Was putting a bowtie on a cat's collar considered animal cruelty ? Of course, he'd seen much worse done.
"No idea how long it will stay on, through..."

Ainsley just loved animals so she was probably just as happy as the cat that was a purring putty in her arms. She giggled, looking at Tempo in the face. Did she really like her more than Xavier? She'd only just met her!
"She likes me more than you but I bet she loves you!" Was Ainsley's decided response.
"Is it unusual for cats to keep things on?" Ainsley had never thought about it before.

"For most cats, at least." He nodded. Of course, he knew Cora wasn't a normal cat in the first place. And now knew that there was a reason the guardian was close to Ainsley. Intricate puzzle pieces, but one ws still missing in the whole picture.
He had a plan on how to fix it without it being too awkward. Hopefully. Xavier moved to rise up again, but something fell out of the pocket he had previously put his hand inside of.
Something Ainsley might recognize indeed, not because she had seen the object previously, but because she owned a very similar one. A steel blue and silver henshin pen, with an odd mix of snowflake and music note engraved on it.
"Oh ! Oops." He bent down to retrieve it. Hopefully Ainsley would let her own status known. Xavier's idea was a simple one - if she knew he was a senshi, they could patrol together. If they patrolled together, he could keep her safe.
Simple as that.

Most cats? Well, that was true. Cora certainly wasn't like most cats and she certainly loved to wear her collar even after it had been so battered and dirtied with blood. It cleaned up perfectly though, like it was brand new. It was mysterious how it did, but Ainsley was happy to be able to erase that memory from the cloth.
Oh ! Oops.
Ainsley looked up to Xavier and then she looked down toward what he was bending down to retrieve. Her eyes caught sight of a pen that indeed did look very familiar. It looked an awful lot like a pen that she had of her own except it was different colours and possibly a bit more fancier than her own. She wondered why he had that but she felt like she knew it. There was only one reason why she would and that explained sooooooo much if she knew just which senshi he was.
She'd almost blurted out something about senshi when she paused and stared. The motherly voices of Cora and Bell echoing in her head. She didn't think of it right away, staring at Xavier retrieved the pen. She was silent, maybe a little too silent. She was thinking and thinking hard. It was a thought that probably shouldn't have taken as long as it did but there was the chance it was just a coincidence and that it was just a fancy pen.
Logic agreed that if it was just a normal pen, he'd give it to her.
"Isn't that a pretty pen Tempo?" She asked the cat. "Do you think Xavier would let me have it?"
It was probably the most clever thing Ainsley had ever said, which sadly wasn't saying much.

This wasn't exactly what Xavier had expected. But this was, perhaps, a good thing. Bell's warning taking root, perhaps.
Even if it made his life a little more difficult.
Tempo, of course, said nothing - only rubbed her head against the child's chest a little more, completely uncaring about the situation around her.
"Ah, I... can't really do that, Ainsley." Not a normal pen, indeed !
