Clack. Clack. Clack.
Rukia walked down the deserted hallway tentatively, pausing every few feet to peer inside the classrooms. They were all empty. Where had everybody gone? It was class time, yes? Shaking silvery hair out of her face, she looked down at her wristwatch. Yup, Friday, 2:13 pm. Her brow knitted in confusion. She'd skipped going to her dorm first for this, too.
This was the third department she'd checked, and hadn't seen anyone. Her footsteps echoed off the pale walls, louder than it felt they should. Finally, she came to a dead end, and only one room remained: Choir. Had she thought about it beforehand, the timid girl would likely have avoided entering this room, of all the winding halls that were the Academy. Taking a deep breath, she took hold of the doorknob. A smooth click resounded from it, and a wave of cool air from within caressed her features. She stuck her head in. "H - Hello?"

Kain brought his nose up out of a book and looked toward Rukia. "Hello there." he said with a soft smile. Then he stood from his desk and put his chair in,walking over to her afterward. He shook her hand when he got over to her, "Are you one of my students?" he asked her curiously.

"Eep!" A mouse-like squeak escaped her habitually sealed lips. For all her looking, she hadn't actually expected someone to be in there. She saw before her a tall, well-built man with sandy brown hair, about 20, she guessed. Blushing, she tried to shake his hand back. Feeling embarrassed, it ended up as a weak little wrist-twitch. The handshake soon ended, and her right hand fell back to the left, gripping each other nervously.
"Oh... N- no, sorry, I'm ah, not a music s-student... I-I was just wondering whether anyone was actually here, is all." She let out a nervous little laugh, rapidly waving her hands back and forth in front of her, denying any such thing. In all honesty, she'd been wandering around the third main building looking for a class, realized the whole place was pretty much deserted, and had gone in search of humanoid life. Then she got lost. She twisted a strand of hair around her index finger, feeling small. "Umm... Y-you wouldn't happen to know where the Magics Department would be, d-do you..? I-I kinda think I'm in the wrong building t-though...." Rukia looked up at him, hoping directions wouldn't be too much trouble.

Kain slowly opened his mouth to reply, but it was met with a sudden drop of his head. "...I don't know... To tell you the truth, I'm a new teacher here... I barely found my way to this classroom..." he said, raising his head up afterward. Then an idea popped into his head and he turned away from her, "I might just have a map though... let me see..." he said while walking toward his desk. Once he arrived he sat down and started searching through the drawers one by one until he found a small piece of paper. Upon finding it, he held it out for Rukia, "Found it, here you are young lady. I hope you'll find the map useful."

Rukia looked up at the man, a hopeful glimmer in her wide cerulean eyes when he opened his mouth in response; only to be extinguished when he didn't know. She didn't blame him for being new, she'd been here since the previous semester before summer break, and she still didn't know where everything was. Coupled with the fact that everything at Fuyu seemed to be constantly evolving, and that left you with a very confused teen. She wasn't dim by any stretch, just had a really bad sense of direction.
When he returned with the map, she sighed inwardly, relieved. Maps were helpful. She could do that. "O-oh, thank you vey much-" Suddenly she realized she hadn't introduced herself - something near sin in her mind. She immediately folded her hands neatly, palms crossed, and bowed respectfully. "My apologies, s-sir.. My name is Rukia, Rukia Arisawa. A pleasure to meet you. I h-hope the school has been- nice?" She faltered at the end, for lack of a better word. Hoping it wouldn't be considered overkill, she straightened up, looking at the teacher - Kain - somewhat shyly still.

Kain chuckled a bit and patted Rukia's head, "My name's Kain Hughes, it's nice to meet you. Oh, and you don't have to be so tense." he said with a smile as his hand retracted, "The school has been nice actually, it's very beautiful here. Although... I'm finding it hard to find someone I'm searching for... of course, I'm not sure if she even came." he said in the same way while sitting down on a nearby chair, "How has the school been for you?" he asked.

Rukia smiled slightly, "Nice to meet you too.."; feeling his hand on her snowy head. Geez, it was tough to be sixteen and just barely five feet tall. She looked down at her hands, still avidly fidgeting. "S-sorry... She tried to calm down a little, following him several paces behind into the classroom. It was wide and airy, with good lighting and tiered desks, presumably to improve the sound...? At the front of the room was a small desk, where Kain had been sitting when she'd first looked into the room.
"Oh.... It's been n-nice.... it is very beautiful. And a lot larger than my old school....." Listening, her head tilted infinitesimally to the right, sending a wave of white falling over her small shoulders. He looked forlorn; as if remembering a distant memory that didn't have an entirely happy ending. He had lent her a map, so she felt obliged to try and help him in return. "Umm... If you don't mind my asking... Who are you looking for?" She looked up, meeting his gaze briefly, then hurriedly moving them to the carpet, shyly tracing the simple pattern. "I... I mean, see, there was a street fair during the summer, and I worked in a booth, s-so I might have...maybe s-seen h-her?" she ended questioningly. She was no social butterfly, but always remembered a distinctive face.

Kain brought his hand to his chin and thought back to it for a moment, "She had brown flowing hair, with determined brown eyes to match. Her look was sort of Tomboyish, and she has my mothers necklace with her. The crystal is an aqua color and the metal's a silver. But I'm not sure if she would wear it, she didn't look like the type for jewelry. She might carry it around though." he said to her with a smile as he continued to think about it.

Disappointed, she listened to Kain's description, running through her mental list of female students she'd seen - no match. I'm s-sorry, but I don't think I've seen her....." She had hoped she could help him; after all he'd just lent her this potentially life-saving map of the school grounds, "But I'll k-keep an eye out!" She smiled back at him. Necklace , necklace . . . . she took note, this was the most distinctive characteristic he'd given, by far.
"I...I guess I should be going now," she said, getting the feeling it was time to go. "S-sorry to bother you, I hope I wasn't too much trouble. Thank you for the map." Rukia bowed slightly, hair swishing down to cover her pale features. Now it was back to wandering the halls, but hopefull with more success this time. She turned, making to leave the choir room.

Kain waved at her as she left, "Hopefully I'll see you later." he said with a smile as she left. Then he stood up from the chair and looked out the window, "Well, I'd better get going as well." he whispered to himself as he grabbed a book and walked out the door

Kali entered silently. The Kittymorph obviously more cat like than any Neko entered. Her black tail tipped with white trailed behind her. Her equally back ears minus the white tips flicked. She saw no one. Disappointed she left to see if any of her other classes where less empty.
