The night was a cool and crisp one proof that fall would soon claim summer's playgrounds. It was a quite night through most of the land save the cricket's sweet song coupled with the occasional night song birds call. The moon lit the ground as plain as day and the star sparkled gently like sun beams through a forest's canopy.
The silence of the night did not keep though a scream cut through it like knife. To those closer they could her a struggle and smaller gasp and pleas between the louder screams. Crimson blood was being spilled across the ground a the large Kalona mutant tried to suck the blood from his struggling prey once he drained her he planned to feast on her flesh too. What an easy meal she had become willing...at first curious of him rather then afraid which was her deadly mistake. Goth bared his weight down on her almost laughing at her screams between sucking the blood from her neck. How delightful this was! Ok so this hadn't been one of her better ideas maybe there was something to fearing other as she had been warned, but what was the harm in trusting someone to only drink a little blood from her. She didn't mind helping him with his natural need for substance, but now she felt weak and begged him to stop and let her go and he wouldn't. Was he intending to kill her? It seemed so from the position she was in. She could feel her own blood all around her soaking into her long mane and beautiful flowers and silk garment. She was going to die but she couldn't help but scream out hoping someone would hear it and help her.

Tannin enjoyed traveling by night, it was cool and he had better nightvision than most. He had been plodding around, his bone hooves crunching on the gravel below, which besides the occasional owl was the only sound in the area...until a scream completely shattered the calm. It was a high pitched scream from relatively nearby, a female scream...His green eyes flared under his bone mask and he charged through the brush, the armor he wore keeping him safe from the tearing branches as he rushed through.
He burst through the line of trees to find a horror story before him, a large stallion was bent over the throat of a dark mare, presumably who had screamed. Her own blood glittered black against her pelt in the moonlight. Tannin growled, his lips curling up over his fangs, the sound rising from his throat in a very animalistic way. " YOU! BEAST! back away from that lady!" He pawed the ground with one bone hoof, mirroring a charging bull, he hated to see things like this, and he would fight this creature to the death if need be.

Goth's eyes shot to the creature that shot through the brush. Some beast with hooves of bone and fangs that did not belong to a regular. He didn't let go of the female he simple crunched harder into her neck trying to get some more blood out before the fight that seemed like it was about to take place. Why did there have to be hero's? Goth had a right to eat just like any other flesh consuming creature in this world right? What made soquili above being prey?
Zealous's frightened eyes found Tannin a few moments after he charged in and told Goth to get away. Hope glimmered onto her face before Goth bit down again and she cried out in pain. She didn't know who that stallion was but she preyed to the spirits he would save her.

He snorted, in the surrounding darkness you could tell that he was the son of a felsteed, his eyes, mouth and nostrils all glowing with that green fire. " GET YOU GONE!" he bellowed, his voice deep and resonating as he charged, skirting to the side as to not harm the lady and reared up lashing out with his boney hooves. His glowing eyes caught the frightened glaze that held the mares eyes. He would help her, he had to.

Goth reluctantly let go to dodge the hard bone hooves. Why did his easy meal have to go sour like this? Blood still dripping from his mouth he bared his fangs hissing as he flared his wings.
"Who are you to ruin my meal?!" Goth growled gnashing his teeth while crawling back towards the stallion slowly.
Zealous felt the pressure lift from her and she tried to jump to her hooves to flee, but she had lost to much blood and crashed the ground again. She still struggled to move wanting to put more distance between her and Goth.

Tannin growled back, his overlarge fangs quite formidable, even compared to that of his enemy. " A wandering knight, if you must know. And that is not a MEAL, that is a mare." his eyes flashed under his bone helm " and YOU are going to leave-her-alone" he sad slowly, his voice deem and resonating with the promise of hurt if he did not comply.
He circled and kept the mare at his back, worried that she could not escape, she had obviously lost a good amount of blood. " Hold on miss, you'll be ok..." He was going to have to make a stand here and hopefully this batlike kalona would leave without a fight. He highly doubted it though.

Goth bellowed a low growl eying Zealous noting that he had drained her enough she wasn't going any where. "A knight hmmm, foolish things are they. And hardly is she a mare, a mare is smart enough and pure enough to avoid someone like me. She practically begged me to kill her." Goth chuckled. His eyes then drifted back to the knight. He had a decision to make he had gotten enough out of the mare to substance him for awhile, yet he still felt hunger. He had so looked forwards to the screams as he started to chew away at her flesh slowly. The question was, was it worth the fight he had before him? The stallion was not a kalona but the armor worried him. Though he had never faced it he knew what it was, would it slow the stallion down enough.
Suddenly Goth took off into the air disappearing into the night and the trees. He figured this stallion was no fool and would not think Goth left for a moment, but he would wait in the trees just to see what the knight would do.
Zealous rolled to see the stallion blocking her from Goth. She lay her head down there was nothing she could do ,but watch things unfold. Who was this stallion and why was he risking himself for her? When Goth flew into the sky she looked a little more panicked. "He isn't gone." She gasped worried that the knight might just let his guard down. "You should just go...you shouldn't .....get hurt....because....Im stupid."

Tannin stood his ground even as the creature growled and hissed at him " Come then, see what this "fool" can do, and i promise you'll be sorry you ever hurt this poor lady." He stomped a bony hoof for emphasis, the sound strange and hollow on the rock laden dirt. He stepped back as the bat creature took flight and lowered his head a bit, the spikes on his helm and neck quite formidable to deal with when in the air.
He had never fought someone coming from above but he was confident enough that he could hold him off. He had excellent nightvision and kept one eye on the dark line of trees surrounding the area, knowing that he was still in there somewhere, waiting and watching. Tannin sidled to the mare side and without looking down at her for fear of being ambushed from above he whispered to her " i know, i know, but i'm not going to just LEAVE you here to die ok? as a knight i simply cant." He frowned and tilted his head so he could see enough of the sky to make sure he had enough time if the creature pounced and looked at her out of the corner of one glowing green eye. " Stupid or not, it's better to live. Now please, try your hardest to move, anything...it will be much harder to fight if i have to carry you..." he was definitely worried, but it kept him on his hooves. " If not, i'll do as much as i can..."

Goth watched the night he wasn't going to give up easily it seemed....curse him for not having owl wings, the knight would hear him when he moved so a sneak attack wasn't an option. Perhaps something else, why attack the knight when what he wanted was behind the knight. He didn't have to lift her far only into a tree then the knight would have to give up all hope.
Goth took flight, but not towards them. He tried to make the wing beats echo among the trees while trying to land else where closer to the side his target lay.
"Alright, I'll try..." Zealous looked to the ground and tried to locate her legs. She was hazy and dizzy everything around his seemed warped in some way or another. Once sure her hooves where all placed as they should she pushed with all her might to stand. She let out whimpers of pain and her head hung low feeling to heavy for her body to lift. She started to pull her head up but the wound in her neck shot pain through her whole body. ZD felt repulsed again as she felt her own blood drip from the wound and down her leg. She was sure she wasn't going to make it out of this, if Goth didn't get her the wound would. Finally she was standing and she started to move forwards it was more of a slow walk than an escape but she was pretty sure that was all she was going to be able to do. "Where?" Is all she managed to get out she didn't know where to go.
Yep just a step away from the stallion was enough for this Kalona to try his first dive. He jumped from the trees aiming strait for ZD's midsection. Goth could try to pick her up with that bit of cloth round her stomach. It might not work but it was sure worth a try to avoid a fight.

Tannin had been trained by his father in all senses, he heard the monster moving, he knew he was trying to maneuver around. But how to counter it, that was the million dollar question.
He didn't know specifically where he was coming from, but knowing predators like this one, they were cowards, preferring to snatch what they had originally came for and leave without a fight...Tannin wasn't about to let that happen.
He looked hurriedly at the mare, his eyes bright with worry, his fangs bared and his skin prickling with the danger, he probably looked horrifying...it was for her own good. " Follow me, the main goal is to get-out-of-HERE!" He circled around her, trying to keep her on her hooves when Tannin saw the creature dive from above, he made an unearthly sort of growl deep in his throat and charged towards the diving predator, rearing at the last minute and slashing out with his bony hoooves. " HAVE AT YE YOU MONSTER!" he bellowed

Goth gave a furious roar this noble steed had more speed then he had planned on him having. His large bat like wings flipped up halting his dive. He still caught a bony hoof to his front leg, but he spun himself slashing his hard spade tail towards the hero to push him back before landing face to face with Tannin. "I am no monster I am Goth and I deserve to live and feed just as much as the next carnivore!" Goth growled showing off his blood draining front fangs before jumping at Tannin with a push from his wings. He aimed his jaws towards the uncovered part of Tannin's neck.
Zealous screamed a little in terror as she saw Goth dive down from the trees. She worried for the stranger that was saving her life more then herself. She pushed herself to move faster moving in a weird swaying line. She had lost a good amount of blood and was still bleeding. Why was the mail bothering she would bleed out anyways at this rate. Who could help her? Maybe there was a unicorn near by, but which way? She tried her best to think as she picked up speed just a little her goal right now to just head in the opposite direction of the beast trying to kill her.

Tannin narrowly dodged a hefty smack from his opponents spaded tail, gaining himself a bright red line across the bottom of his chin, bright red blood wellin against his dark skin. He growled, the sound like dark thunder, " well GOTH, you can feed on whatever you'd like, i eat meat myself, HOWEVER, find an animal to hunt, Soquili, especially poor innocent girls like this arent your PREY." he stood his ground , angling his head so the points of his armor were in direct line with his dive. A sturdy rock could hold against any assault, especially if that rock was POINTY.
He yelled behind him, his voice hoarse " Lady, i know you are hurt, find help, do it if you can, i cannot help you and fight this monster off at the same time." He cursed himself for being so useless " Find a way to stop the bleeding! use that wrap you have if nothing else!"

Goth's teeth hit the shield upon Tannin's head ripping his lip slightly as it did. He roared in frustration the fight no longer about his escaping prey but pure anger towards this hero. "Anything I can kill is prey which including to knight!" With that Goth attempted to snap for Tannin's reins he would pull the foolish stallion round like a pony to the slaughter.
Zealous stopped upon hearing what Tannin said she she ripped off her sash crying more to rip the last gift she got from her father before he went mad. She moved towards a tree and used it to get the sash around her neck the best she could. Before leaning on it for just a moment she wanted to lie down but she knew she couldn't. Zealous got up and moved into the forest figuring she could hide some where small and tight that the giant Kalona would not be able to reach.

Tannin grunted at the impact and skidded backwards, his bony hooves digging into the ground "THE STRONG CANNOT BE PREY!" he snarled back, rearing up again as Goth snapped at him, getting his sharp hooves between him and the vampire, lashing out at his face. Trying to kick in those sharp teeth that sought him. He had no time to keep watch on the mare, he just hoped she was doing what he had suggested, hoped that she would find help, hoped that she would get away. He was a knight, it was his duty to fight against mosters to save the innocent...he just hoped he could survive this himself.
