Mitsu was upset. She didn't know who or what had made her friend unhappy, but that didn't matter so much as the simple fact that Mitsu was upset. Xiu was never happy to see anyone depressed, but for someone who she considered to be a close friend? Maybe it would be hard to do since she didn't know the cause, but the Baku was intent on finding some way to cheer the lycan up. But...how? By making her something? But what would she bake?

Xiu recalled how Mitsu had once mentioned that she enjoyed harvest moon cakes. The only problem was that Xiu wasn't entirely certain that she knew what a harvest moon cake was. She had her suspicions--were they the same thing as yuè bĭng?--but she wasn't sure how to confirm it. Maybe if she asked someone else...? She wasn't sure if there were any other Chinese students in Amity--she hadn't met any--but she knew that Japanese culture had yuè bĭng as well. If she could ask someone and confirm that they were the same thing...

Without any warning, Xiu hopped out of her seat and headed out the door, jogging towards the reaper dorms. Well, she knew one particular Japanese student who might be able to help. It was a plus that he was close to Mitsu as well, so he would probably be more willing to help her. As she reached the familiar door, the ghoul raised her hand and knocked.

"Aniki? Are you in? I need help with something!" A pause. "It's about cheering up Mitsu!"

After his little talk with Lizzy, Shun found himself needing some time to think about everything that was mentioned. It might have cleared up a few things, but he felt so much more confused now than he was before. It was kind of distracting really, seeing how the heavy conflict within him was making it hard for him to think about much else.

Letting out a huff, he was just trying to distract himself in the meantime.

Doink doink doink doink.

Good ol' doink knife. Though, this sort of frustration he felt wasn't as easily alleviated with stabbing. It was still something.

Hearing the knock and a familiar voice, he paused with the stabbing and looked up towards the door. Xiu knew about Mitsu too? In any case, it was within his interests to try and cheer up the girl, so he got up and opened the door.

"What is it?" he asked quietly.

When the door opened, Xiu peered up at Shun curiously. He seemed...a little different from before. It was as if he had something on her mind? Or perhaps she was just imagining it. Shaking her head, she offered the reaper a small smile. "I was wondering...do you know what a harvest moon cake is? Mitsu mentioned that she really liked them and...and I thought that I could make her some. She seemed upset, so..."

The Baku trailed off, her smile falling into a concerned frown. She hadn't asked Mitsu what was wrong, but whatever it was, she hoped that it wasn't anything too serious. The poor ghoul had already had so many things go wrong in her past.

Shaking the thought away, Xiu shivered slightly. Well, she had friends here, and she was certain that these friends would do anything in their power to make her happy. That's why she was here. "I was wondering if harvest moon cakes are the same as yuè bĭng. I wanted to go out and get some ingredients, and if you'd be willing to come along and help, maybe..." Was she asking too much of him, perhaps?

"Harvest moon cake?" Shun said while raising a brow, "I think I know what you're talking about."

He didn't realize that Mitsu liked those, but then again, she did seem to like sweets in general so it didn't come off as too much of a surprise to him. Well, in any case, it didn't seem to be too bad of an idea.

"I.. don't know how to make those," he said quietly. The Reaper's selection of what he could make was a little limited, "But that doesn't sound bad."

"You do?" Her eyes lit up and she clasped her hands together in front of her chest, her voice suddenly becoming hopeful. "Are they...um, kind of brown-ish, with decorative tops? With different fillings like red bean or lotus paste?" If it was the same thing as what she was thinking, then digging up a recipe wouldn't be that hard. Her grandmother had given her a recipe for making them long ago, but Xiu had admittedly never touched it. If it was the same thing as the sweets that Mitsu was talking about though, then she had a reason to find that recipe.

She would have to swing by her dorm to find the sheet of paper first, but if Shun was willing... "Are you busy right now, aniki? If you'd be willing to go shopping with me, I think I have an ingredient list to make the cakes." To be honest, since she had never made them before, Xiu was a little concerned about how they would turn out. She really wanted to make something that her friend would enjoy, though perhaps it would be best if she came up with a backup plan as well.

Though...if she could get Shun to help, perhaps she could tell Mitsu that it was a gift from the reaper as well. Or did he have a different idea in mind to cheer up the lycan ghoul? She and the reaper seemed close, so Xiu wouldn't have been surprised if that were the case.

"Yeah that sounds about right," nodded Shun. Though, he wasn't really sure why Xiu had gone to him for help with the pastries. He... really didn't know how to make any pastries. Sweet snacks weren't exactly substantial compared to other foods and all.

"I'm not... but why do you need my help?" he asked while raising an eyebrow, "You probably know more about how to make them than I do."

The Reaper was all for cheering Mitsu up, but he had a slight feeling that he'd just end up burdening the Baku rather than helping her out.

Oh, thank goodness! Then she did have a general idea of how to make the mooncake! The news made the smile return to Xiu's face, and she quickly began to run over what she probably needed to buy, and how to make it. She needed to choose a filling too, and...hm?

The Baku tilted her head at Shun's question, blinking up at him blankly. "Well I...I thought maybe you'd like you help me cheer her up. I don't know what happened, but...seeing her sad makes me sad as well." She was certain that the reaper wasn't happy to see their mutual friend in such a state either. It only seemed logical that he would want to help her feel better, right?

"Oh!" Xiu's eyes widened, and she nodded as realization hit her, "Unless you do already have something in mind, already?" If that was the case, she was a little curious: had Shun bought Mitsu a gift or something?

Shun paused for a moment there. Well... there was that thing Lizzy mentioned, but that wasn't exactly his own plan. Furrowing his brow, he looked towards the back of his room, towards the guitar that was resting against the wall at the moment. When Mitsu had fallen ill, a song did help calm her down...

Shaking his head to himself, he turned back to Xiu.

"No, not particularly," he said quietly, "I'll.. come along then. Just let me grab my coat."

Nodding, he stepped back to do just that, throwing on the leather jacket before making his way back to the door.

"Alright, let's go."

Curious, Xiu leaned around Shun and peeked into the room to see what it was he was looking at. A...guitar? That was right--Shun did play the guitar, didn't he? She wondered why he had looked towards it, but before she could ask, the reaper had already turned back to her and had agreed to her request.

"Oh! Um, thank you, aniki! I just need to run to my room and find the recipe. Meet me in front of the school gates, okay?" She turned to leave, but she had to pause when Shun threw on his jacket. Something about that jacket...she knew that he usually wore that jacket, but it wasn't until now that she really looked at it properly. It was made of leather, wasn't it?

...Had the rescuer in Mitsu's dream been wearing a leather jacket as well?

That was definitely something for her to mull over. Shaking her head, the Baku smiled, calling a "I'll see you in a bit!" as she rushed off. Since she didn't want to keep him waiting for too long, the Baku practically sprinted to her room, overturned boxes full of notebooks until she found what she was searching for, and then made a mad dash for the school gates.

Nodding quietly to Xiu, Shun just went on his way towards the school gates to meet up with her there. Since she had to run and grab the ingredients list, he was alone for a short while, which gave him a little time to think about a thing or two.

It... was hard not to think about these things lately. Especially when he wasn't doing anything else at the time.

Placing his hands into his pockets, he just tried to figure out what the hell was going on through his own mind. The fact that he was now on a trip for the purpose of helping Mitsu's mood brighten didn't really help with things all too much.

A... small part of him was actually wondering if it would be best to just.. snap all of his connections so that things could be simple again without all this confusion and conflicting feelings.

Xiu was back before long, panting as she finally reached the gates where Shun was waiting. "S-sorry for...for making...you wait..." She took deep breathes, and it took her a bit until her racing heart slowed to a more regular pace. Straightening up, she held up her notebook in both hands. "I found the recipe though! Let's get going."

She began to head down the path, trying to match her pace with Shun's as she flipped open the notebook to read the ingredient list. They all seemed common enough, and the recipe itself didn't sound too difficult to make either. As for a filling...she didn't know what Mitsu liked beyond sweet things, nor did she know what she disliked. Perhaps...a few mooncakes of differing flavours, then? And she would make extras to go to Shun as thank you.

There was something nagging at the back of her mind, though. All she cared about was cheering Mitsu up...but she had to admit that she was a bit curious about what had upset her friend in the first place. Since Shun had known that she was upset in the first place, she assumed that the reaper probably knew more than she did. Clearing her voice, she looked up from her notebook and focused her gaze on the boil.

"Aniki, if I...if I may ask..." She hesitated, a crease forming between her brows before she continued, "...What happened to Mitsu, exactly?"

Hearing Xiu's voice, Shun snapped out of his thoughts and nodded to the girl. Not really one to dawdle, he turned and started to head towards the nearest grocer so the Baku could pick up the supplies she needed. He did wonder what sort of mooncakes she'd end up making since there was a rather wide variety of different things she could put in the middle.

Just not chocolate.

Glancing to the girl for a moment, Shun's expression darkened at the mention of what happened to Mitsu. With a frown, he faced forward and let out a sigh.

"Mac got onto her because Ziggy attacked his bird," he grumbled, "He threatened to kill her cat because of it."

Wait, wait. What.

"Mac did what!?" Her opinion of that reaper just kept going back and forth! While his first impression on her hadn't been favourable, he seemed to alternate between being mean or nice to her depending on his mood. Just when she was starting to think that he wasn't a bad guy, he went and...threatened to kill Mitsu's cat?

To be fair, if Ziggy had gone after Whip, she wasn't really surprised that Mac had gotten angry. She probably would have been pretty upset herself if a larger mini tried to hurt Arashi, but even then, it wasn't Mitsu's fault! The reaper should have known better to blow up at her especially considering just how meek she was. She wasn't extremely fond of Mac, but that didn't mean that she would think that it was all his fault.

...Though it was partly his fault, and...mostly Ziggy's probably.

"Did you get to talk to him about this?" She would have expected Shun to confront Mac as soon as he heard about the incident, since...well, since it was Shun.
PostPosted: Wed Aug 24, 2011 8:22 pm

"You heard me," Shun said plainly, not really feeling like repeating himself. It seemed that Xiu had registered the information anyway, even if it did come across as quite a shocker for her.

"Punched him in the face, then we talked," he added, giving a rather terse version of what went down. There was the bit where he had roughed up Mot due to thinking he was the culprit, but he felt no need to add that in. If the Baku asked, then he'd say so, but this was about his experience with Mac, not Mot.

"Punched him in the--!" Xiu turned her widened eyes to the reaper, looking rather shocked. She wasn't sure if she was surprised that he had punched Mac, or...the casual tone he used to report that he socked the boil in the face. The "then we talked" bit threw her off as well. "...Um...what did you...talk about?"

It was a good thing that the store wasn't too far off from Amityville. Once they reached it, Xiu entered the grocery store and grabbed a basket in one hand while she carried her notebook in the other. Flour, sugar...there were a lot of basic ingredient in making mooncakes, though there were others--like red bean and lotus paste--that she needed to find.

Expecting that he would follow, she led the way, picking up the ingredients that the recipe called for. However, her mind was clearly not entirely focused on the task of shopping as she asked, "How...how is Mitsu doing anyways?" She had only seen the distressed lycan ghoul in the passing, but that had been enough to become a cause of concern for her. How was she holding up now, though?
