Zimwi was skulking across the lands; head low, ears flat against her neck and gait sluggish. Crossing a patch of sparse, open land filled with nothing but tufted grass and fading, sad-looking flowers, she paused to collect herself and find her bearings. She didn’t want to get too close to the edge of the borders just in case she happened across one of the evil neighbouring lions. She had strong jaws, certainly, but she would not ever fool herself into thinking she had the stamina or the strength to overpower a lion. Not now she was old and certainly not alone. Another with her, maybe, and it wouldn’t have been such a primary concern. Today, however, no one had seen fit to accompany her and she was partially glad of that. Maybe she could seek out another vision and make the most of this solitude.

But she was not just alone for the point of finding visions in the ether. She was out here to hunt and she had a very specific prey in mind.

A few days prior she had crossed path with two large rats. One of them had been snapped up into her waiting jaws and the other had scampered away with food in its mouth. The survivor was clearly harbouring children somewhere and Zimwi had every intention of seeking out its nest and taking her pick of the plumpest of them to sate the hunger gnawing at her gut. Easy pickings when scavenging was out of the question.

She picked up her pace again, diverging to the left and pausing to sniff around a recently picked carcass. The vultures had been at it; stripping the bones clean, and she hazarded a guess that the rats would have been there, too. Setting a paw on the ribcage, she tilted it a little to see if anything was hiding there beneath the bones. Nothing was. With a low growl, she leaned her weight onto the frame and splintered bone beneath her heavy paws, taking some gratification in the sharp sound it made. Then, with the destruction over, she circled around to the skull and gave it a short kick with her paw, sending it scuttling down a short incline.

She had some more tracking to do, it seemed.

Kivuli was on no set path she was just out an about wanting to find something interesting. Sure she should have asked someone to go with her having gone out to far to the border but Kivu never had fear to be on her own. She had lived on her own knew what she could and couldn't do. She had a good amount of wits about her.

Kivu kept trotting forward they where very resent tracks of another hyena. She was curious what they where doing out here. She caught up quickly with the other her head tilted to the side watching her a moment before she spoke up.

"Lost something?" She asked as she moved up beside her. She was calm for the moment so her tone was actually soft and not loud and harsh it normally was.

"Or are you mad at the bones? I don't think they ever did anything to you." She said with a small laugh. It was a bit uncommon for her to find something funny but the way this other female was so insistent on teaching the bones a less it tickled her.

An ear turned in the direction of the female and then, after a long moment, Zimwi's scarred, greying muzzle turned, too. The body, whilst covered in grey dust and scars of battles long fought, were set with a pair of brilliant, blue eyes. They seemed, strangely, too young in that haggard face. Too energetic and lively for a hyena who should be thinking about retirement.

She snorted, though whether irritated or amused, it wasn't clear.

The last of her weight bore down on the bones, cracking them flat to the ground and then, kicking them aside, she turned to face the other female down, giving her a firm stare. Not one that Zimwi had met before, but probably a member of the Mava'Bunda. It would have been too coincidental for her to be a passing wanderer.

"The bones have wronged me. They were supposed to harbour shelter for food. Yet, they have not." She paused, mulling over her thoughts a little longer. "Lost? Yes. Yes, I have. A rat, in fact. Have you see one? Or...eaten one?" She hoped the latter was a no. "If it still lives, then I have claim over it. We crossed paths not too long ago and I marked it as a future meal." She gave a jolting laugh that jerked her sides sharply and brushed a paw through the dusty ground, setting it into curling through the air. "I would hate to break a promise. I am - after all - a hyena of my word." She smiled, but it wasn't a particularly friendly expression.
