This Senshi business was starting to take a toll on her health, she was sure. Or at least her skin. Precious beauty sleep was being lost by the hour. She had probably wracked up a full day's worth of this patrolling stuff. It was evident by the dark circles that were now creeping to the surface of Euanthe's face, which she was frowning at in the mirror-like surface of a darkened window display, the sky not yet fully dark behind her.
She stepped back with a sigh, hands resting on her hips. Her reflection looked critical. "Yeah what?" Euanthe asked of herself, accusingly. She felt a little silly, but the more she realized she was pretty rubbish at this 'warrior of justice' shtick the more frustrating it became.
Well, if she could just puzzle out a route or something it would be much easier to get out and get home at a reasonable hour. Did youma frequent run-down areas, or did they just roam anywhere? As it was she checked her pockets to see how far her quarters could take her and rode the bus in any random direction and hoped she struck gold... or struck monster, really. Normally that just meant a wasted 4 hours. But how was she supposed to know which alley to look down? This "sensing energy" stuff just wasn't coming easy to her. Euanthe's reflection looked at her like she had heard these excuses before, and that if she didn't want to be a spotty, sleep-deprived Senshi then she better get on this.

Super Sailor Kallichore thought this was rather creepy of her. Ganymede would not have approved. No, she could hear his voice very clearly in her head, saying how she was so good at butting into other people's business. Really, it wasn't so much that as she followed energy signatures. It was as simple as that. Kallichore kind of operated on creepy (I mean really, with a sphere like hers, who wouldn't?) but chose to try and tone it down for the sake of diplomacy. She had a mission to complete.
The super senshi sat on the railing on the other side of the street, looking further down it for no real reason. She didn't want to come up behind the one she suspected to be Euanthe. That would be creepy. Her naturally disheveled fuku didn't help matters much either - she looked like she'd barely escaped with her life every time she powered up. Not like I could really have chosen it, but it's not good for any ambassador duties, that's for sure. she told herself. That's why she wouldn't take up any public relations position within the Jovian Court if she could help it. Talk about disaster waiting to happen.
Instead, she sat there in plain sight and wondered how she was going to go about this. Research (which meant interviews of random senshi she found while patrolling) lead her to believe this young lady with a lovely fuku was indeed a Jovian. Kallichore had studied her list of sixty-some-odd moons carefully and she could have sworn Euanthe was one of them. Now, how to approach her?

It was a good thing Euanthe couldn't see herself from Kallichore's view, because she would have been completely and utterly mortified. Nothing said "silly and useless" like a supposed Senshi standing in front of an empty store preening and fussing over looking less than perfect. This wasn't a goddamn beauty pageant. If she were doing her job right dark circles would be the least of her worries. There would be bruises, scars, broken legs... the ballet dancer in her shuddered, even as Euanthe consciously acknowledged that ballet was just as silly and unimportant as the rest of it.
Really, it was lucky for her that Kallichore's fuku was so incredibly distressed looking. She had come near enough that even energy-dumb Euanthe was finally able to feel a ping of something, which snapped her out of her self-absorbed state into alertness once more. When she finally located the source of the 'ping' and determined it was Senshi, not enemy, in origin she might have been embarrassed to be caught as she was, except that Kallichore did indeed look like she had just been through the fight of her life. Not to mention Kallichore was a bit too far away for her to discern the absence of any sort of bruising, blood or black eyes.
"Oh!" Euanthe exclaimed loudly, eyes widening and all feelings of embarrassment or thoughts of even making proper introductions suddenly banished. She started across the street. "Are you alright?! D- do you need help?"
Not that Euanthe even knew where to take wounded Senshi. Surely not the hospital...?

The newbie senshi's exclamation brought Kallichore out of her thoughts and back into reality. Blinking, the gray haired senshi shook her head slightly and looked right at Euanthe, wondering what she was talking about. Help? If anyone needed assistance, it would be whoever Kallichore chose to use her attack on. Those people genuinely needed help. Once she realized Euanthe was looking at her fuku, the super senshi chuckled and waved her hands. "Oh no, I'm fine. But thank you. It always looks like this, trust me."
Standing from her position on the railing, Kallichore closed the distance between the two of them. "I didn't mean to startle you, if I did," she started, wondering how this was going to go since they'd never met previously. She wasn't even sure that this was Euanthe at all. If it wasn't, then... this whole meeting would be incredibly embarrassing. Kallichore tried to look as prim and proper (and approachable) as she could manage, but it simply wasn't her style. She sighed.
"I'm Kallichore." The super senshi decided introductions would probably be best to start. "It's a pleasure to meet you. I hope you're not too busy tonight? If I may, I'd like to speak with you for a while." She hoped that introductions would prove her hypothesis right, and she was currently trying to arrange all the info she would give tonight into something a bit easier to swallow. Just blurting out that Euanthe was a moon a Jupiter, as were several other senshi and That Meant Something Important (please join us) would be a bit... much. She needed to work on her tact.

"Oh," she repeated, feeling rather stupid. "That's good, then. It's just your fuku, it's so-" she searched for the right word, an inoffensive one (she hoped), "ah, rugged. From far away I thought- you know." Her momentary panic faded, though the question of 'where do wounded Senshi go?' was still an important one that needed answering. In her embarrassment she had forgotten all about it. She wondered if already Kallichore thought she was a silly, nervous Senshi. Well, it was true, but the point was that she didn't want to be seen that way regardless of the truth. Unfortunately that was nearly impossible. The awkwardness of the whole situation was making her fidget and her face had flushed nearly pink enough to match her hair.
Many times Euanthe had told herself that this insecurity would pass with time. Maybe it still would, but it sure was taking a while. She supposed that when she grabbed her pen and henshined up she was supposed to feel empowered, motivated. Sure, she could feel the new strength in her limbs... but far from feeling empowered, Euanthe only became acutely aware of her deficiencies as a Senshi. The butterfly shoes came on and confidence fled.
"Nice to meet you. I'm Euanthe," she replied, her expression changing into an awkward - but sincere - smile. "I definitely wouldn't mind talking. All my trips out as a Senshi so far have been solitary at best and violent at worst."

Ah, so I was right! She is Euanthe, which means she's one of us!
Kallichore was overjoyed that her stalking research paid off. She paid the comments on her fuku no mind. She was more than used to them by now. Instead, she stood by as the newbie senshi tittered away and blushed. The super senshi found it endearing in a way, and wondered if she were less rigid, if she would have done the same thing in Euanthe's shoes. No one could blame her. "It's alright. I appreciate your concern, but it's just been falling apart the more power I gain. I suppose I should be used to it by now." With a shrug, she let the subject drop.
"I'm sorry your trips out as a senshi haven't been to your liking. But perhaps I can offer something to change that? Here, would you like to sit down?" Kallichore motioned to a nearby bench, one that had sat unoccupied for quite some time. It may have once belonged to a bus stop or something of the sort. The super senshi walked slowly towards it, looking over her shoulder. "There is a group of us, a court, if you will, forming up that I believe you might be interested in. Euanthe, did you know you are part of the great moons of Jupiter?"
She wanted to introduce information slowly so as not to overwhelm the new senshi, but it was difficult to say the least. Kallichore couldn't judge how she'd react to all this and whether or not she'd be interested in the slightest bit. But something could be said for the super's tremendous effort to remain composed.

She felt a little bit like she was being swept up into some kind used car deal, Kallichore was so well... rather soothing, actually, even in her distressed fuku. Before she was even able to know what was happening Euanthe found herself sitting down on the bench, blinking at Kallichore with her legs crossed and her hands folded neatly on her thighs. Euanthe found herself nodding along amiably even without even realizing it.
"I didn't," she said, freshly self-conscious. s**t, was she supposed to? Most Senshi probably went home and googled their star or planet or whatever other cosmic body they were named for as soon as they were awakened. Weeks had passed and Euanthe hadn't even given it a thought, much less googled it. There was probably some deeper meaning behind that, like maybe it would have really made the fact that she wasn't... wasn't really entirely human, really of earth, hit home. Maybe she still didn't want to face that. But this was no time for psychoanalysis, anyway.
"A court, you say?" The word 'court' immediately brought notions of royalty and grace to her mind and she remembered what Pollux had said about the confusing system of Senshi Royalty, something about Castor being a prince but him not. Almost like an automatic reflex she asked, with a curious smile, "does it have a prince or a princess?"

Finally, the super senshi had had enough. She simply couldn't act the part of someone she wasn't. It was beginning to sound too clinical, too forced and entirely too unemotional. Kallichore thought she sounded remarkably like a robot, which was the opposite of what she was going for in the first place. "I apologize... I think I should be more of... myself. Anyway. Let me start over." With a shake of her head and a sigh, the super senshi braced herself to try again.
"The reason why I came to you tonight is because you're another moon of Jupiter, and I firmly believe destiny is bringing us all together. One by one." she explained, taking a seat near Euanthe. The super senshi rather admired her fuku for its delicate designs and flattering shape. "I came to find out who you are because other senshi have told me about, how did they put it..." She tapped her chin for a few moments. "...a dark ballerina, graceful with butterflies. I think that's how they put it. Anyway," One leg was crossed over the other. "It's an open invitation. We aim to protect, support and educate our own and others who may want to join. They don't have to be a moon of Jupiter to be a part of the group."
Kallichore blinked when Euanthe had asked of royalty. A princess? If they had a princess, she would have liked to have been the first to know. Or one of the first. "No, we don't have a princess or a prince at this time. Perhaps one day we will. But for now, we have an eternal and a few supers, myself included." With a smile, Kallichore chuckled. "Everyone's rising rapidly through the ranks. With protection, education and training, anyone can succeed."

Kallichore's discomfort was met with a blink and confused half-smile from Euanthe, who thought she hadn't been awkward in the least. Of course, she had no previous Kallichore encounters to compare this one with. But she was never one to begrudge anyone being themselves if that was what made them comfortable. Oooh. If there was any kind of description that could make Euanthe blush (maybe even with a little bit of pride) it was the one that Kallichore just gave. "Ah," she murmured and scratched nervously at the back of her neck, glancing away, "is that so?" Well, it was a very flattering description.
Fate wasn't a concept she'd ever given much thought to. Life was full of weird coincidences and maybe those could be construed as fate, but whether it was or wasn't really didn't tend to concern her. Even the miraculousness of her awakening and everything that came after it was just more life, though admittedly life had taken a definitely turn for the bizzare because of it. If Kallichore believed that the Jovians coming together was destiny then Euanthe didn't see any reason to argue.
Plus, after that Kallichore said basically exactly what Euanthe needed to hear. To tell the truth Euanthe would have joined up anyway, even under the shadow of potentially humiliating herself with how terrible she was at this, because there was safety in numbers. But when Kallichore finished Euanthe chimed suddenly, "Yes! I, I believe so too. I want to become better." Her voice grew quiet again at the end, but she nodded and redoubled her resolve. "I want to become good, and be a Senshi people can rely on. I'll definitely join up with the court. Whatever I can do to help, I'll do it!"

"Really?"
The super senshi didn't expect her to comply to quickly. Not that this was a bad thing! It just was a pleasant surprise. Kallichore smiled to her and nodded. "We'd love to have you, really and truly. We'll get you up to speed on what's been happening so far. The war extends across many years, and a great deal of us haven't been awakened that long. There's a lot to learn, but we're all very patient. Don't feel bad about being new - you're not the only one by far, and there will be more new senshi after you too."
Her primer project now at the forefront of her mind, Kallichore started to make a checklist of things to do. Flesh out the primer, attend the meeting, see if there are any other Jovians out there to speak to... the list went on. There was much to do, but before she got too far ahead of herself, the super senshi blinked back into reality. "Ah, Euanthe? Is there anything you'd like to know right off the bat? I'd like to think I've found out a great deal of things that may be helpful to you. I'd be more than happy to tell you what I know." In small doses, of course. She learned from her encounter with Ganymede that too much, too soon was overwhelming and defeated the purpose of sharing information in the first place.

"Yeah," she said with a cheerful half-shrug. "I mean, I've just been wandering around on my own, getting into trouble, so-ooo~"
The war. To hear it put that way was sobering. People died in wars. Somehow the possibility of dying because she was a Senshi hadn't really sunk in. But somehow the prospect of facing it as a Jovian, not just as Euanthe, made it easier. She nodded attentively, taking Kallichore's words to heart. She would learn, the Jovians would help her - it would be okay. One day maybe she could be helpful to young Senshi too.
"Oh, hmm." Euanthe inclined her head, touching three fingers to her cheek contemplatively. "I suppose I was wondering, um, if there's like..." The pink haired girl frowned. Honestly there was so much practical knowledge she was missing, and the fact that she didn't know what she was missing made it hard to figure out what to ask. "Aah, I feel really stupid now," she mumbled with a nervous laugh. But as she did a strange thought occurred to her. Hopefully it wouldn't offend.
"Actually," began Euanthe, "if it's alright, well... When you were first starting out - as a Senshi I mean - did you ever find it frightening? To power up, I mean, and try and be... all of this stuff. I'm sorry, that's kind of personal, I just- ah..."

Kallichore shook her head in apology. "Don't worry about it - ask whatever you want. Nobody will judge you." Not rightfully, anyway. Being what they were, there was no handbook to be given out, no classes to take. You relied completely on the information you either found out by accident or were given by whoever awakened you. It was extremely rough to be a senshi. There was no central organization, no worker's union and no central figure from which to draw guidance.
Maybe one day, that would all change. But for now, the senshi were all on their own.
"It was frightening, yes. Sometimes it still is." The threat of death or even worse - corruption - was always just a few steps away. One always had to be careful, but the most dangerous time was your first few months. When you are still a regular senshi, everything is dangerous. "It's not personal at all, don't worry. I would be lying if I said I didn't think everyone asked that question, either to themselves or to someone else. If you didn't find it frightening then... I suppose maybe you were hoping for it?" Kallichore had no idea who would hope for such a thing, especially if everyone with powers worked so hard to keep their war a secret.
The super senshi chuckled a little at herself. "Don't push yourself too hard. That would be my best advice. There's a lot of take in even with a group there to support you, but never think you're alone." She placed a bare hand on Euanthe's shoulder in a friendly gesture of confidence.

"Oh dear," said Euanthe, cringing a little. "I hope no one was really hoping for this. I think they would end up disappointed." Everyone wanted to feel special in some way, to have their uniqueness as a human being confirmed. Awakening would certainly fulfill that desire... but of course, then they'd find that there were plenty of special people in the world, too. On top of that, it wasn't such a great gig. Not when you had real human beings to fight, on top of monsters.
Throw on your blinders, Euanthe thought and curled her gloved hands into little fists. So long as she could help prevent people from getting hurt, there was a reason for her to exist as a Senshi... regardless of how human or inhuman the 'other side' was. Drawing in a breath, Euanthe shoved her doubts aside and smiled at Kallichore. There would be time for questions later, now that they were both part of the group, and she didn't want to tax the other senshi's time any further.
"I am glad you found me tonight," said Euanthe. "Thank you. For telling me about the court, and for answering the silly question, and for all the other things. I'm... I'm looking forward to meeting the rest of the Jovian court."
