Karitzu held Michael's hand as they passed through the gates onto the grounds. He looked off in several directions and then looked down at Michael. "It's not Delilah, but I think you should make some new friends."
Michael nodded his head and smiled at Karitzu. "Over there. Look!" He pointed out the hedge maze and tugged Karitzu's hand towards it. Karitzu followed and stopped at the edge.
"Well...Well...I suppose if you'd like to play in there, it can't be helped. You just scream if you need me, alright? And if you follow the right wall, you should be okay." Karitzu crouched down and ruffled Michael's on end hair. Michael was wearing his favorite pair of overalls, undershirt, and his little blue tennis shoes with Velcro straps.
Michael nodded and reached up, wrapping his arms around Karitzu's neck. "Ok Daddy. I'll be ok." Karitzu smiled and watched Michael walk off around the corner of the maze...
Michael walked cautiously in the hedge maze, following the right wall as he continued on. His bright blue eyes stayed wide as he tried to take in everything that he saw. The grass was nice and green, and the shrubs were so high!

Sha's everlasting curiousity had led him into the maze. What better time to make a map of the maze then when he was utterly bored? He had plenty of sandwiches and water bottles in his backpack and the map only got more intersting as the maze twisted and circled.
He leaned against the side of one of the hedge walls and studied his makeshift map that took up a few pages of his moleskin notebook, good thing he wrote it in pencil. "Hmm." He tried to visualize how far he'd come and make sure the map was right. He hadn't circled around had he?

Michael romped noisily as he explored the hedge maze, stopping to look at a bird that paused momentarily to look at him. He whistled at it and it fluttered away as quick as it had come. He put his hands down to hook around the loops of his overalls and continued to walk through the maze.
He paused a moment to decide a direction, and then took the right again. Turning the corner, he caught the glimpse of another person, but lost it behind another wall until he could peek out and watch the person. Another boy was in the maze. Was he making notes? Maybe he drew birds.

With a sound of triumph Sha erased a few lines and redrew them correctly. Excellent. No maze was going to defeat him. He looked up when he heard some rustling. Maybe it was a bunny? Or maybe a feral cat? Instead it was a toddler. Sha's lips quirked in amusement as he thought "A wild Toddler has appeared!" with the pokemon music in the background of his mind.
"Hi." Sha tried. The kid didn't look upset or distraught so he probably wasn't lost. "What're you doin' all the way out here?" He tilted his head to one side quizzically.

Michael stepped out, being spotted now and tucked his thumbs around the loops of his overalls. "Hi, I'm Michael. I came to explore the maze. My daddy said it was okay, and to yell if I needed help. But I should be okay. Are you drawing the birds?" He questioned as he moved closer. He stood a good five feet from the other person and then held his hand out.
"It's nice to meet you....? He waited for a name and explanation to the drawing in the other boy's hand.

"Well. If your Daddy said it'd be fine... He must have really sharp hearing. I'm Sha." He reached out ant shook the toddlers hand seriously. What a well spoken little thing. Sha's tail curled in amusement.
"I was drawing a map of the maze." Sha flipped a couple of pages in his book to show him a series of very confusing lines on pages. "It's going pretty well."

Michael stared at Sha as Sha shook his hand and shook back as well as he could and then took his own hand back to his own side.
" A map? That's cool! " His eyes lit up as he stared at the pages.
"My daddy says if you continue to go right in a maze and follow the wall, you'll always come out." Michael continued to babble on. Karitzu swore the child's brain was way beyond it's normal capacity. Karitzu always spoke normal language around Michael and he seemed to continuously pick up words.

Sha considered that a moment. Drew a mental maze and followed the right wall out. "Huh. That sounds about right. I've been enjoyin' just wanderin' around and adding to my map." He turned the corner of the page he was currently working on over to mark his place and then snapped it closed. "What made you come into the maze? It's not like there's a whole lot of interesting things in here."

Michael shrugged and blinked. "I like mazes. I like them in my books." He nodded and looked around. There was that bird again. He watched it until it fluttered away again. He snapped his attention back to Sha.
"Did you come into the maze just to make a map? Are you gonna sell it?

Sha's eyes followed the toddler's and eyed the bird, once Michael's attention returned to him he said,"Well, I was really bored. So yeah, I came in here just to make a map. It seemed like a fun challenge and it was something to do. As to sellin' it. I dunno, I doubt anyone would wanta buy it. I can't wait till my wings are big enough to fly like that bird. Doubt I'll be bored then."

Michael looked over his shoulder, trying to see if he had wings. "No fair." Michael continued to turn in circles, trying to see his own back, to see if he had wings.
"I don't think I have wings. Maybe I'll get really good at doing this." Michael reached down and grabbed a rock, and then concentrated on it, his bottom lip over part of his top lip. The rock started floating and then stayed there.
"I bet when your wings get really big, you will fly away!" Michael shifted his concentration and stretched his arms out wide. "But where would you fly?"

"Well mebbe you'll get wings. I didn't have 'em till I grew a bit." Sha told him seriously. "I can't wait to fly away, though I'll probably fly back too. I'll go wherever the wind takes me." He grinned happily at the thought. That to him was the ultimate freedom, letting the wind carry him where it would, like smoke on a breeze.
"That's a pretty nifty trick you got there." he commented about the floating rock. "I bet that's pretty handy for all sortsa things."

Michael listened intently, staring with his big blue eyes and nodded a little bashfully. "Well...Only marbles and blocks...Big stuff doesn't want to move. Daddy says I need to practice. "
Michael put his hand up to his face and rubbed his eye. He yawned and looked like a tuckered out child but continued to talk. "So why do you want to fly away so bad? Is your daddy mean?"

"I don't have a daddy anymore." Sha said somewhat flatly. He still didn't know how to feel on the subject, not completely anyway. He did enjoy the freedom, but there were bad things about being given back too, along with some perks. Maybe that was life. "I actually like it here, that's why I said I'd fly back." He dug around in his backpack and offered the toddler some water. "You ok? do you need to sit down and rest?"

Michael nodded and plopped down in the grass, reaching his little hands for the water and taking it slowly in his grasp. "I'm sorry about your daddy. Did he die? Do you have a mommy?" Michael questioned inquisitively as he messed with the cap and put his lips on the bottle. He tilted his head back with the water instead of just tilting the water, and splashed some on himself. He huffed, getting a little grumpy.
