Tavshed felt another soft barely audible sigh escape him, the silence felt so..loud. Usually the stallion enjoyed his quiet life hidden away from nearly every other stallion and, mare. Few creatures or 'others' stayed in the lush green stretch of for4est and, if they did Tavshed had yet to see them. Even though he had purposefully separated himself from the world he longed for some type of companionship...a...friend of sorts. From the cool shadows of his moss covered cave stepped the silent stallion his head high, ears alert for any sounds.
Atop his back rode the poor males only companion..Bau, a well worn and, beloved tiger plush that very few had been allowed to touch. The plush might look silly to some but, for him it brought back memories, faded dark memories but, he couldn't let them go. Plus if he got rid of Bau who would he have? No one that's who. Surely if he lost his one companion the darkness would creep ever closer and forever consume Tavshed in a dark pit of loneliness.
Nothing would ever be right without Bau. Dusting the memories away with a soft snort he stepped ever closer to the sound of bubbling sweet water, clear pure perfection just waiting for him. Waiting to greet him with his own lonely forlorn expression. Pausing before the crystal clear stream he did indeed catch his own sad eyes..his own lowering ears and, it made his heart clench. Even if he wanted to leave the forest...it wouldn't be safe..danger lurked just outside the edges of the trees. Waiting to kill him as it had his family. Fighting away form the shadowy thought he took a few long cooling drinks; the water so nicely eased the pain in his throat.

It was eerie how silent this way along the river was. It almost felt as if all the birds and other chattering creatures preferred the other side of the forest. Blair tossed his head and shorted loudly. Typically he would have gone the other way down the river, the way that he was familiar with, but he did that everyday. And sometimes adventure was a good thing. It built character. He was sort of regretting it now. Only a little bit. Since it was so deathly silent over here that the slightest snap of a twig would probably give him a heart attack. Maybe all the animals were just sleeping and until such a time as they woke up, the only sound to keep him company was the sound of the water running through the stream and his own hoof beats.
He had been around ready to turn around, because clearly there was nothing interesting to see or hear this way, when something black and white caught his eye. No, it wasn't the black and white something that caught his eye so much as it was the black and orange thing on its back. Blair had never seen anything like it before. On top of that matter, Blair had not seen anyone else besides his mother, brother and uncle and suddenly felt a little nervous. Curiosity gripped him more tightly than his fright and he wanted to know what that strange little creature was that could ride around on ones back.
"H-h-" The large male cleared his throat and dug into the water's bed. "Hello? I was wondering... if you wouldn't mind... telling me what that thing on your back is?" If this other male would be hostile towards him, for his mother had warned him about such things, he did not know. But he remained at a "safe" distance just in case. It would be easier to run than to stay and fight for no reason.

Having not been paying attention to his surroundings..lost in his lonely feeling, the other stallions voice made the quiet male jerk. Taking a few quick steps back while his head rose Tavshed warily looked the darker pelted other over..he wanted to know about Bau?
The first voice in his head screamed to run but, he felt so alone..and meeting others in his little stretch of forest had become increasingly difficult. Drawing in a hesitant breath he turned to look at Bau, speaking in his soft weak voice. "This...B-bau.." Ears flickering nervously Tavshed took a hesitant step closer to the unknown male..he didn't seem dangerous. "...Tavshed.." Bowing his head in a greeting he waited to hear the others name..where had he come from? What did he want? Would he stay long? Would he end up leaving like so many of the others had? As the questions bombarded his mind the still anxious, lonely stallion turned to very, VERY carefully scoop his beloved tiger plush from his back. Turning back now to Blair with wary purple orbs he lowered Bau to the grass between his front feet.
Bau had been a gift from Tavshed mother..something she had placed on top of his basket while he grew..while he matured. From that day onward they had never been apart. Sure Tavshed had let one or two trusted visitors touch Bau and, he had even let one male place the precious plush atop his own back for a ride. As long as the striped treasure stayed out of harms way he could feel...less alone. With the plush there he could at least pretend to have a friend, to have someone that wouldn't leave. "M-mo..m-mother...give...me...Bau.." The words didn't explain much but, with his injured vocal chords no more would come, if he pressed on and, said too much at once they would being to ache again.

Smiling softly as the other smiled and, spoke..Tavshed felt his earlier bits of fear vanish. Blair...hearing that the stallion lived nearby did indeed sound interesting and, he could hardly help the excited twitch of his fluffed tail. In the moments spent just, listening to the darker stallion speak eases away the darkness..eased away the pain and, sorrowful feeling that had been threatening to swallow him. Throat tight from his earlier bit of speech Tavshed could only bob his head in agreement that yes, he did live here in this part of the forest. The other questions earned soft smiles or more shakes of his head in agreement to what Blair said. Stretching his legs the male's eyes became thoughtful, he might be able to share more with this male..as he had with the few others that had stumbled into his home. Yet, what if the other stallion ended up..not liking him? What if, what if. The thoughts of those what if's filled Tavshed's mind to the brim but, something cracking nearby made his thoughts slip away. Eyes flying wide, ears perked for any other suspicious sounds..Tavshed stood waiting with a nervous twitch traveling up his lean form. What had that been? No no no it couldn't be the..the bad thing hadn't found him here! The shadows couldn't reach him here, he had run so far to escape the darkness..it couldn't have found him. Tavshed didn't register much except his thundering heart and, the need to run a need that went unanswered for his limbs felt heavy as stones. Mind screaming run run! The startled stallion bent down to scoop up Bau and return the precious tiger plush to his saddled back. Nothing could happen to the precious 'creature'..that would truly be his undoing. Mind fighting in it's urges..fight or flight in full swing the still frightened male turned to stare at Blair. "B-bad...run." It had to be times like these..that he wished to speak clearly..he wished that day had never happened. The day when evil fell upon his little family right before his too young eyes, the day Tavshed had ruined his own vocal chords for good.
