Getting back to civilian life was a bit stranger than Michael Gallo was expecting, but he never guessed that his first week back on land would end quite like it was now. He'd only just finished setting everything up in his apartment earlier that day and had thought a night on the town would be a good way to celebrate being a normal person for the first time since high school.

At the moment, though, he was regretting his decision. It had been so long since he'd actually been out in the city on his own that he'd gotten lost. How embarrassing. And to top it off, the pizza he'd picked up to take home with him had seemed to attract some freakishly mutated dog of sorts. No, cutting through alley ways behind buildings he didn't recognize probably wasn't a very good idea, in hindsight... but what were the odds that he'd end up cornered between a building anda fence as the animal drew closer.

Only when Michael had realized that the shortcut he took was really just a dead end did the beast appear from the shadows. It growled and snarled in a way he'd never heard a dog growl before, and he vaguely wondered why it had waited (as if it had been a conscious decision) for him to realize there was nowhere to run. Well, he could always jump the fence, but he was pretty sure that would only get him lost even more than he already was. So the only option left was to try and avoid being mauled by the (probably rabid, from how it sounded) dog, while hopefully being able to keep his pizza from getting ruined. Stores were shutting down and he really didn't want to risk going home without some food to last the next day or so.

Suddenly, the dog made a lunge for him, and he barely sidestepped out of the way in time for it to crash into the fence. It was then that he realized it wasn't a dog at all! His eyes widened in shock at the strange creature caught in the little light available in the alley. It had fangs and claws and while it was canine in nature, it definitely wasn't a dog. Some part of his mind went to 'werewolf' but that was impossible. Monsters didn't exist, right...?

Sailor Pasiphae never knew what to expect on her patrols, although she did know that she increasingly found enemies. On some level, it was disturbing to her. The more she fought the more it seemed she was needed to fight... even though she wasn't always confident that she could handle these problems on her own. She had worked so long with fellow Senshi that it was strange to her to fight alone. That seemed to be what she would have to do tonight, though, as she followed a youma energy signature. What she saw made her pick up speed--there was a man down there!

The Shame Senshi jumped down from the rooftop and thrust herself between the youma and the pizza-carrying civlian, her voice ringing out as she shouted, "Run--I'll take care of this!" The sooner the man got to safety, the better off both of them would be. He'd be out of harm's way, and the Senshi would be better able to focus on her snarling, drooling opponent. At the moment, she simply stood her ground, her fists raised as she prepared to raise her shield (if necessary) to keep the youma distracted.

The girl seemed to have appeared out of nowhere, and Michael stared in surprise. "Wonder Woman?" he threw out a guess, although he hardly thought she was tall enough, or busty enough to be the fictional Wonder Woman come to life, but there wasn't anything wrong with a guess, was there?

The youma snarled, and Michael frowned at it in curiosity. Something in the back of his mind was asking if this was a joke. If someone was pulling a prank on him. Maybe one of his friends from the Navy? To get back at him for leaving? But this seemed a little too dark for a prank.

"What can you do?" he couldn't help but wonder, looking from her to the dog, and then back again. She wasn't tiny but she wasn't a wrestler or anything like that. He thought he would have a better chance of holding this dog-creature at bay than she would.

"No offense meant, of course," he quickly added, not wanting to insult her right off the bat, but... really. He'd like to know what she thought she could do to stop the creature in its tracks! Michael shifted the pizza box in his hands, watching as the dog let out a growl and made to lunge at them.

If Pasiphae had heard the comparison between herself and one of DCs leading ladies, she would've been quite flustered. As it was, however, her attention was pretty much totally occupied by the youma that she was trying to protect the pizza carrying civilian from. She took no offense at his doubt, if only because it matched with her own, to some extent. She was only one person, and she wasn't always sure that she was the best person. At the same time... she was also the one person at, the moment, who had experience fighting youma.

Then the youma lunged forward, and Pasiphae slid into action. It was too risky to call for her shield immediately, so she punched it in the side to drive it back. This gained her a bit more time as she stood between the civlian and the dog-like youma, shouting, "Pasiphae Shameful Isolation!" The maroon shield settled around her and would fend off the attacks, for the time being. She turned her head as best she could to call back to the man, "Run, please... I can only throw the shield around myself, and it won't last long!"

If Michael thought he had an idea of what was going on, it all vanished when the miniskirt heroine used her magic attack. His eyes widened in surprise, seriously wondering if he had somehow gotten sucked into some weird game. Maybe she was like Zelda?

"Come with me," he said suddenly shifting his hold on the pizza box so he could reach out with a free hand. "I'm not going to leave you here to fight this thing, much less alone." Heck, he could probably fight it decently enough. Maybe. From watching its movements, it wasn't as though it moved that fast... not now at least. Instead, it growled after being knocked to the side and was now readying itself for another attack. If he could just convince the girl to go with him, maybe they could get to a better area where they could fight it.

No, she didn't know him and it might be a little weird being asked to go with a guy she'd only just stumbled on, but Michael thought he was the one with the disadvantage in this situation. She at least had a magic shield, and apparently some experience. "This is still Destiny City, right?? Twenty eleven??" Just making sure... what with monsters and super women now wandering the streets...

He also realized that he probably wasn't taking this as seriously as he should, but... how was he supposed to know just how dangerous these things were??

Pasiphae's attention was entirely focused on her shield as it repelled the youma's attack, but at least it held. That meant it would stand at least one more blow if the youma attacked again. After that, though, there were no guarantees. She needed to think of a plan and fast.

She stared at the civilian's hand through her marroon shielding, and she tried her best to convince him to go without her. Her voice was a bit frantic but definitely demanding as she looked into his eyes, "It's my duty to fight the youma and keep people from getting hurt. Keep you from getting hurt." Even as she spoke, however, her shielding fell and left her (and by proxy him) defenseless. After a moment's hesitation. she accepted the offered hand and began to run. More open space... that's what they needed. Fighting the youma was going to be difficult if she couldn't move around.

Despite her confident exterior, the Shame Senshi was anything but. She was fairly certain that she could defeat this youma, given her experiences with them so far. She wasn't even all that concerned about gettiing hurt herself in the process. But having a pizza wielding civilian to defend at the same time... she really wished that another Senshi was there with her to ensure his safety! As they ran, she answered his questions with a quick nod and affirmation, "Yes, this is just a normal night... I'm afraid to say."

He took off as soon as he had her hand, making pizza box tucked under his arm (that was his only dinner, damnit). The youma was close behind though. As much as he appreciated her trying to defend him, he didn't think he was all that pathetic in a fight.

"Normal night, huh...? Well... no shame in running," he panted skirting to a stop when they ran into another dead end. "Where the hell are we?!" he stared at the fence in surprise. They should have been able to get to an open area by this point, but everything seemed to meld together in the darkness, and somehow they'd managed to get stuck in a maze of alleyways of factory buildings. It wasn't his fault he wasn't used to the city, though.

The dog... youma... made its way out of the alley they'd come from, growling and snarling, its teeth dripping with saliva. "I appreciate you trying to keep me from getting hurt, but how about we tag team?" he offered, regrettably leaning down to place the pizza box on the ground for the time being. His hands went to his sleeves, rolling them up and he reached up to unbutton his shirt a little more to give him more room to move and breathe.

"In your expert opinion, where do we attack it?" he wondered, glancing around for some kind of weapon they could use.

Things were not going according to plan for the Shame Senshi tonight. Instead of getting into a more open area, the alleyways seemed, if anything, to get tighter and never ending. She felt foolish, but worse she felt scared. Not really for herself, but for the pizza-wielding civilian who was running with her.

Pasiphae desperately wanted to hold the young man back, but a cold ball of fear solified in her stomach as she realized that she couldn't stop him. She had no way of shielding him and not herself; she wasn't even sure if she had enough energy to call her shield again, as she had never tried to push her powers too far. As much as she wanted to defend him... if he wanted to fight, then she had no way to stop him. So, she planted her feet and raised her fist, giving him the information he sought as quickly as possible before the creature could strike, "I don't know if your punches will be as effective as mine... but you can try for the underbelly or the back legs. Avoid the face - I'll attack there. It's too risky for you."

His punches wouldn't be as effective...? Was she really that much more powerful than he was? She was, what...? Still in high school? Sure, she could use magic and do that weird shield thing (he was still trying to wrap his mind around all that), but he was also twice her size, just about.

Michael had never fought off a rabid dog before, but he figured it was more or less the same thing, right? He stepped out, just in front of the young woman, as if to protect her, and jumped out of the way when the monster lunged for him, doing as she'd suggested and grabbed onto one of its back legs as it leapt, pulling it down to the ground.

Now he wanted to see just what she had. He couldn't attack it at the angle he was holding onto it, trying to stay out of reach of its teeth and claws as it flailed around, attempting to break his old on its leg. "Your turn, Princess," he called to her, bracing himself for some kind of magic attack or... something that would be equivalent to having useful magical powers.

Pasiphae positively sputtered as the civilian moved in to grab the the youma. Princess?! No... princesses were special among Senshi, and she couldn't allow this mistake of identity pass! As soon as this fight was over... she would correct him. If her companion was waiting for more magic, he was going to be sadly disappointed. While he held onto the canine youma and kept it down, she charged forward and punched it in the throat with all of her enhanced strength. This attack put her arm dangerously close to the beast's teeth, but it was unavoidable with this type of youma.

"Careful!" he requested as the monster dog howled as it was punched and jerked itself free of Michael's hold, before staggering and collapsing. It took a few moments before it burst into dust, and Michael stared in surprise. "What just happened?" he blinked, glancing over at the girl who had helped him out.

Either way, it appeared as though the monster was gone, and Michael glanced down at his hand and the shallow gash from when the dog ripped its leg away, catching his palm. They would just need a few bandaids, and for now he pressed his hand against the hem of his shirt to make sure the bleeding was going to stop. "Um... so what are you?" he couldn't help but ask, looking her outfit over again. She wasn't exactly Wonder Woman the woman, but she didn't look like she was any normal girl, either. "And are there more like you...?" Because that was exactly what the city needed. People in strange outfits running around.

Or had they been around for a while...? This is what he got for being away for a while.
PostPosted: Thu Oct 13, 2011 6:57 pm

Pasiphae was honestly surprised to see the youma become dust so quickly--surprised but grateful. Apparently her experience had built up to the point that she was getting better at dusting at least the weaker youma. She gave a sigh of relief, brushing some of the black dust off her gloves as she studied Michael. She was glad that he was safe, and... well, he certainly deserved some answers. She knew only too well what it was like to see youma and not know what they were, to see a Senshi and not know what he did... so she licked her lips and replied shyly, "It was defeated. Whenever you beat youma... they turn into dust, like this. It's a good thing; it means it won't come back."

There. The easy part was done. Now... she had to try and find a way to explain what a Senshi was to someone who had no idea. She wished that a more experience Senshi was there to back up her information--someone like Europa or Kallichore, who exuded more authority, who had been Senshi far longer than she had been. Unfortunately, at the moment she was all that the civilian had. She opened her mouth to respond when she caught sight of his wounded hand. Pasiphae's eyes immediately widened, "You're hurt!" Taking a trick she had learned from Europa, the Shame Senshi quickly tore off the bow on the back of her fuku, taking the civilian's hand without permission in order to wrap it. Normally she wouldn't be so bold, but... it was her duty to protect him, to make sure that he wasn't hurt. Now that he was it was much her responsibility to care for his wound as best she could. Roles were settling more into their proper place, in her mind, and it was... oddly comforting, after how strangely the battle had gone

As she worked, she started to try and fill the man in, her voice soft and a little nervous but clear, "I am Sailor Pasiphae, Senshi of Shame. A Senshi is... someone gifted with power, given the responsibility to fight Chaos." The teenager paused in her wrapping, her brows knitting together at this point. How did she explain Chaos? "Chaos... Chaos is this dark power, unlike the power I have. But it has people who wield it, the same way I do mine. They hurt people... and sometimes corrupt them too. So... Senshi like me work to fight them, to protect innocent people like you."

Pasiphae fixed her eyes just on wrapping the wound at this point, running over what she had just said in her mind. She was discrete, but not a liar, and she wanted to make sure that she had told the civilian in front of her the whole truth... but nothing else came to mind.

Michael watched as she took her bow and proceeded to wrap his hand, letting her do so although he watched her with growing curiosity. Chaos and senshi and all this crazy stuff... He still wasn't sure if this was just some huge practical joke some of his old shipmates were playing on him, but then again... that monster certainly had been real... and now it was gone. It probably didn't help with evidence, now that it had disappeared, though. If someone really was injured and a senshi came around to kill it, what were the police going to think when there wasn't a monster to hold responsible?

"Who ever said I was innocent?" he wondered, a mischievous gleam in his eyes as he gave her a wink. He wouldn't really say he was innocent. Children were innocent. He? He'd had plenty of time to screw up and make mistakes and hell, for all she knew, he was a thief or murderer. If these senshi were blindly helping people, how did they end up protecting themselves?

Unless of course she meant that he was free of this 'chaos' stuff... dark power... Yeah, he definitely didn't have any magical powers. It would have probably come in handy.

"Sailor Pasiphae, Senshi of Shame," he repeated as if to try it out for himself, although his voice came off as being a little mocking, he was sure. It wasn't that he thought she was a joke! Just the name. "I like 'Wonder Woman' better," he said after a moment of looking her over in consideration. "All you need is a whip and an invisible jet."

Okay, even though he was being a jerk about it, it wasn't as if he didn't appreciate her help. Michael gently pulled his hand away from hers once the makeshift bandage had been tied, moving around her to collect the pizza box he had left unattended to fight off the monster. "Have you eaten yet? Here, as thanks for saving my a**," he offered, opening up the box. It was just pepperoni, as he hadn't been in the mood to experiment with a pizza place he'd never been to before. Even still, he held out the box for her to grab a piece if she so desired.

Pasiphae had been completely focused on binding the man's wound, glad to be actively helping after the somewhat odd battle she had experienced. So, the light-hearted question startled her into lifting her head just in time to catch a wink from his blue eyes. It was also the first time that the teenager really noticed the age difference between them, and a hot blush covered her face. Maybe she appeared foolish, inexperienced... maybe that's why he had felt the need to step in and fight instead of just leaving the battle to her, despite the risk of getting hurt. She lowered her gaze and answered as best she could, "You're not... a part of this war. That makes you innocent." Except... he was a part of the conflict, wasn't he? Weren't they all part of the war, either as victims or participants? The thought saddened her, but she tried to maintain her composure.

The mockery that came from his voice at her name and title, however, meant that her blush only deepened, making her face burn as maroon as the energy she used to form her shield. Pasiphae had just accepted her name and her sphere without question, and she had certainly never felt that anyone belittle them. Still, "Lasso," she corrected, her voice almost a mumble. She might not stick up for herself, but the Shame Senshi would be damned if she didn't stick up for one of DC's greatest heroines. "A golden lasso and an invisible jet. I don't have either... but you may call me Wonder Woman, if you want... if it's easier..."

She barely glanced up whenever he offered the pizza to her. Well... it was the least he could do after making this entire meeting topsy turvy. Pasiphae wasn't angry or especially hurt by her companion's demeanor, but she was flustered and confused. She didn't know what exactly to make of this man or the way he handled himself. How could he be so brave one moment, attacking an obvious monster, then taunting the next to embarass her, and then generous in offering to share his dinner? She decided to maintain her professionalism, and her words were nothing but honest, "Thank you, but you don't owe me anything... it's my responsability, my duty, to help. I'm just glad that you weren't seriously hurt." In truth, knowing that he was safe, if only for another night, was all the reward the girl wanted.

Michael stared at her in growing amusement as she mumbled and blushed about things that shouldn't really matter. He had just been teasing about the name, but it was obvious that she took this 'super-hero' thing a bit more seriously than he would. Then again, he didn't really know why there were magical people running around the city, fighting monsters, protecting civilians, and all being in high school, apparently.

"Relax," he said with another wink, before pausing and realizing that... yeah, if she was in high school, that was probably a little creepy... and then he decided that he wasn't the one running around in a skimpy outfit. "Seriously, you're welcome to a piece or two. Although, it's probably cold now... Think of it this way — you have to keep your strength up to fight these monsters, right? How can you do that without making sure you eat something?" He thought it was a pretty good reason to eat, especially since she was so serious about this. Had he really embarrassed her? Yeah, she needed to lighten up a bit.

"Think of it as thanks for your service, then. If that's any better. I haven't heard of any funds being raised to help out the 'Sailor Senshi' of the city, so... what? You're working pro bono? And isn't this a school night?" he asked, raising an eyebrow in mock suspicion.
