Mac hadn't been to the arcade since his embarrassing loss to Jericho a few months back. At the time he had been convinced that the games were corrupt or that they were biased towards his Dragon friend, but after a while he realized he was being silly, and decided that instead of whining and blaming the games, he should get better at them. Next time? He was going to crush Jericho. Absolutely destroy him. The idea made him sneer, fixing his hat as though he meant business before diving into the first of many games.

This was how he had spent the greater part of his morning, wasting his seeds on the games and tapping away at buttons, all with the hopes of getting better. Oddly enough, without any competition, it turned out Mac was too lazy to push himself to do well, so he really was hoping that familiarity with the system would allow him to win next time. As the afternoon loomed, Mac was steadily growing bored with the whole ordeal, lazily going through the last levels of some fighting game; he might have been bored, but he'd already paid for a round of this! He wasn't going to put his money to waste!

Learning that the school had an arcade was not just a small perk for Pepin. No, it was a tremendous amenity that somehow the glitch ghost had missed in her application process.Granted if she'd known ahead of time she may have gotten in a lot of trouble lurking outside the school's perimeters and desperately whining to get in. But where was this fabled place she'd only heard rumors of? Did it really exist or were students in the hall talking of urban legends? Neglecting to ask her mindflayer escorts, Pepin had to search and find the arcade on her own. Leaving Redensek behind to watch over her laptop, Pepin fluttered out into the ghost halls and began her search.

Finding the arcade would be tricky. If everything was off, then it was highly unlikely she would pick up on it. However, as she floated whimsically through the halls, occasionally stopping to skip as her pixels jolted in every which direction.

"Hummm dee doo dum dummmm~" she chirped in a pitch most robotic. "OH!" Pausing she let her feet touch the ground and looked around curiously. "I.. feel it.. I feel the cosmos..." *o*

Dramatically she whirled around the hall some more, peeking around corners, sniffing the air, not that it would help, and narrowing her focus to find the source of what she could sense as a very large system. This wasn't just a scarestation or a gameboil.. it was a full arcade machine! Carefully she stalked until she found herself in the doorway to a dimly lit room with a couple of screens turned on.. and a figure standing in front of one. Smirking she slithered on in and weaved through the machines, a couple of them turning on as she passed and slowly approached the boil. "Ooooh... Alley Fighter Two? Can I watch?" OwO

Mac jumped, inhaling sharply in surprise as someone addressed him, spinning around to see who it was, the same someone he hadn't heard coming. Sure the screen fizzled for a moment on his game, but...it was a brief flicker and the place was old. It wasn't the first time, and it wouldn't be the last! Black eyes stared wide at her for a moment, and with a blink he relaxed, looking her over instead. Huh...she kind of looked like a game sprite that was on the fritz? Weird!

"Er...sure?" He submitted, going back to the game that had continued to play through his moment of surprise. "I'm almost done here, though." He was behind now, and he tried to pretend that nothing happened, instead going back to tap at the buttons and manuver the embedded ball to try and get his win back. Though, admittedly, with a ghoul watching he did try a little harder to succeed.

"You play?" It was a simple enough question, tearing his gaze from the screen to the ghoul, but only for a moment.

Pepin seemed to have very little respect for personal space as she leaned ever closer to Mac while he observed her. Her speckled eyes went wide as she clasped her hands together. Watching others play was surprisingly fun, she could enjoy herself just staring at the pixels like gazing into a lava lamp under the influence.

"Oh boil oh boil ooooh boil!" she clapped cheerily and hovered over his shoulder and watched as he played. "You're pretty damn good," she smiled and continued to watch until he either died or won the round. When he asked her if she played through she smirked and floated forwards through the machine causing the screen to fizzle for a moment and appear to kick Mac from the game- Until the computer he was fighting quivered a couple times and laughed.

'I play alright.' A female voice came from the male graphic. 'Show me what you've got!'

"...Er...M'names's Mac." He informed her, actually leaning back awkwardly as she got very in his face. Had she not surprised him, he would have handled this whole thing a lot better; as it were, she'd thrown him way, way off. The boil distracted himself with the game and despite his scare, came out victorious. He didn't get to enjoy his victory for too long though, as the game seemed to get a mind of it's own and hey- where did the ghoul go?!

"Uhhh...Ghoul? Gho---" A pause, and black eyes were wide down at the screen, where the ghoul's voice came from the male opponent he'd been fighting. Okay, that...was not there before. Was he imagining things? Scrunching up his face, he gave the entire arcade game an odd look before leaning in close.

"Whoa! S'at you, ghouly?!" What was...how did...just...what. "Err...wouldn't that hurt you...?" He seemed very hesitant about laying the beat down on a sprite that could very well be a fellow student.

Pepin really wasn't the sprite itself. Instead she was sitting somewhere within the framework of the arcade machine giggling to herself playing puppet-master to the computer's controller. She simply chose to communicate through the sprite. "No Silly, Of course no- no- no- not."

Thrice the screen jerked aside until settling once more, and as the announcer yelled "FIGHT!" she began to rapidly 'press buttons' inside the machine to trigger a couple punches and kicks hoping to get a couple back from the boil.

"Come on, fight fight fight!" Her cheering was followed by an echoing giggle.

...Did the ghoul just...skip? Weird. He could have sworn...

"Oh, Jack!" Mac hissed out when the screen came to life and the battle began, frantically moving both hands, tapping this, rotating that, his mind racing to try and recall what combos did what. It was hard to battle knowing the AI wasn't really an AI anymore, but he did what he could under the circumstances he was given.

The machine jingled and roared out the background music as Mac began to duel the ghost ghoul. Instead of a joystick she had to stroke certain wires and poke at some of the chipware.

"Heheheh! Doing mighty well! Doing really really well! Oh my!- AH!"

Seemed like her perspective wasn't exactly the best way to fight as she watched her character through the underside of the screen get cornered and fried. "Dangit!" she pouted, but lit up as the next round began.

"OH HEY, ITS SET TO THREE WINS HAHAH!" she cheered and smirked when the announcer once more yelled for the players to GO!

Mac was quite surprised to find that he had won. Wait...he won!

"SA-WEEEET!" He cried out, fist pumping before the cheering game told him, in the ghoul's voice, that it was still three wins. WELL DAMN! He scrambled to try and make it through the second game. As he learned with Jericho, it was generally a bad idea for him to get too caught up in his wins; he didn't do so well this time, despite all of his trying.

"Sonuvahattroll" Mac hissed at the rather embarrassing turn of events in this second round. He was getting creamed!

Pepin grinned to herself as she gained her sort of second wind from losing the first third of the match. Her goal was to even the score between them and eventually show Mac who the queen of the screen was.

Except that even as terribly as Mac seemed to be doing she did even worse. Her character got stuck there inside the game and took on all the damage no matter how fast Mac continue to play.

"RRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrRRRRRAAAAAAAA~" she wailed unhappily then suddenly in a flurry of pixels apparated next to Mac outside the machine, actually taking control of the joystick and buttons rather than from playing on the inside.

Mac seemed honestly surprised when he actually won the second round. Just...what! How did that even worked? He sucked a**! Maybe this ghoul wasn't as good as she said, or perhaps his lazy 'practising' was paying off...or hell, maybe he was actually lucky for once! Only Jack knew now, but he wasn't about to look a gift horse in the mouth, as it were. The Reaper jumped when she materialized back out and resumed the game like nothing happened, and he found himself shuffling a bit more to one side to give her room.

"Wow, little bit of an over reaction, there?" He snickered at her extended, rather echoing wail.

This time, he was too busy mentally gloating to play properly. Which was a lie, because he just plain 'ol sucked.

Pepin pouted when Mac commented on her reaction then suddenly-

GAME FACE.

She was serious now, there was no way she was going to lose at Alley Fighter II, not when she practiced on it all the time in the town's arcade when the host family was out doing errands. No, there was no way she could lose on her first try with the boil. "WooooAAAAOW!!!" she howled excitedly and thrusted her fist in the air.

"Haha that's right boil, I gotcha by the BAWLS-" she glanced over and taunted him like a kiddo. "Watchooowt!"

The announcer called the fourth round and Pepin was right at it again pressing the buttons randomly in a desperate attempt to make a comeback.

"HEY HEY HEY You just got lucky, ghouly!" Mac sneered, posing for posing's sake. "Don't get too cocky, don't want ya to embarrass yer pretty self now do we?" Yes, go ruffle the ghoul's feathers while you're trying to beat her. That seemed like a great idea. Ten extra points because for the first few 'moves', Mac's hand was out of place, making him either miss the keys entirely, or do combos he really didn't mean to.

At least he was doing slightly better than that last embarrassment.

Taking the counter taunting rather well, Pepin hushed up for a moment and continued to play-

Their fight went on and dragged out until the last few seconds were being counted down when finally Mac's character K.O'ed Pepin's. Meltdown was imminent, Pepin wailed out as she watched her player fly through the air in slow motion and rolled backwards into a heap. The glitch ghost looked as though she was going to do the same as the computer announced

ROUND OVER. PLAYER ONE WINS!

Pepin pursed her lips and leaned against the machine. "Why did I have to play fair.." she snorted, and rolled her eyes back at Mac. "Good game boil. You didn't suck nearly as bad as I guessed you would," she winked, and smiled.
