He looked slightly shifty. Okay, well, Roch ALWAYS looked slightly shifty. There was probably a reason for that, other than his punk outfit and choice of hobbies, but still--
It was way too late in the evening for him to be heading for the exit of the school grounds. But that was exactly what he was doing. He didn't even have his guitar, just his usual outfit, his hands shoved into his pockets, and a glance back and forth to make sure that no teachers were noticing.
And there he went, down the path that led eventually to town, nobody with him, no visible form of protection. Bye bye, Amity, Roch will be back... around sunrise.

Xiu had been just about to go to bed when, while passing the window, she noticed a very familiar figure heading out of the school gates. Pressing her face up against the glass, the ghoul frowned, cocking her head to the side. "...Roch?" Where was he going at this hour? He...he wasn't getting into any trouble, was he?
Immediately abandoning the idea of going to bed, the Baku instead decided to tail the reaper. Maybe it was a bit nosy of her, but she was a bit concerned about the boil. What she had seen in his dreams last time, and the expression he had after he woke up...was he really okay? She would just follow him for a bit, make sure that he wasn't getting into anything bad, and then leave. She just needed to make sure that he wouldn't notice her.
...Well, dropping into her natural form seemed like a good idea then, didn't it? She would be smaller, at least, and hopefully he wouldn't recognize her. Xiu quickly removed the skull pin from the back of her obi, and then rushed out before Roch could get too far ahead.
Once she was outside, the little Baku hurried out towards the gates. Every so often, she would duck behind something or dive into a bush, poking her head out to survey the area warily for continuing. To be honest...this was a little exciting!

He walked casually, as if he knew exactly where he was going. He didn't seem to notice the tiny little creature following him, but he did stop in the middle of the road to bring up his wrist and look at the watch he had hidden amongst his bracelets.
"Jack, I'm gonna be way early," he complained, starting to walk again. Maybe he would get some food somewhere, he decided. A burger would be good. It was going to be a long night.

Since it didn't look like Roch was going to turn around anytime soon, Xiu decided to risk staying out of the cover of the bushes and tailed him, standing only a few feet away. If he were to look back, she would be right there in plain sight, but he fortunately didn't seem to notice. Just as Xiu didn't notice when he suddenly stopped mid-step.
That wasn't entirely correct, actually. She did notice...but only after she had already collided right into his legs. With a squeak, the small creature tumbled backwards, putting her forelegs to the spot on her head where she had walked into the reaper. Ow! And now she had blown her cover!
...Was he going to be mad that she followed him? Though in her defense, she was just being concerned! She didn't want him to get into trouble (annnd she was a little curious about where he was headed)! Still rubbing at the spot on her head, Xiu tilted her head back so that she could look up at Roch, her eyes wide. Finally, she opened her mouth to explain herself.

Roch turned, staring blankly down at the little creature that had just run into him. It was... so... jackin' cute! "Hey, hey," he said, grinning and crouching down. "You should be careful where you're walking, screechie!" he told her, holding out a hand with his fingers up and bent slightly. "You okay?" he asked.
He seemed to be trying to lure her closer, if the sweet tone and gentle actions were any indicator. But he also didn't seem to recognize her in this form.

What was she supposed to do now? He had already spotted her! If she ran off now, then following him this far would have been pointless. Xiu eyed him uncertainly, her ears flattening themselves as she considered her choices. He didn't look like he recognized her, so that was a good sign. So long as she didn't speak up and reveal herself, it would be okay, right?
Right. Hopefully.
Timidly, she wandered a little closer and sat down right in front of him, giving a slight bob of her head at his question about whether she was okay. Why had he called her over, anyways? He probably just wanted to give her a pat on the head, and then he would turn right back around and continue heading...wherever it was he was heading, and she would be able to resume following him.
From a distance, this time.

He reached out, gently scratching her behind the ear. "Hey!" he said abruptly. "How'd you like to go on a date, screechie?" he asked. "I got someplace pretty fun in mind, and I could use some company!" Although he hadn't planned on bringing anyone, but she wouldn't be too much trouble, right?
Danny would probably accidentally catch someone's pants on fire, and Xiu would be scared out of her mind... he coulda invited Rikki, or Demi, though--but he'd only gotten the text that Hurl Jam was in town a few minutes ago, and he didn't wanna break up whatever they might already have planned. Or the ghouls plans, either, for that matter.
And it would be an all nighter, on top of that.

Xiu blinked blankly at the offer. A...fun place? What could he mean by that? Since she had to keep quiet, she simply tilted her head, hoping that her silent question would get across. If she agreed to his offer then she would have an actual valid reason to follow him. She wouldn't have to hide from him anymore, and she could actually...well, not scold him, but...maybe bite him if he did anything reckless?
Gently, mind. She didn't actually want to hurt him.
With a hint of hesitation, the creature nodded in agreement. If he really didn't mind, then she would accompany him.

"Cool!" he said, picking her up. He didn't really think about the fact that the little pet seemingly understood him. He was positive that Riff did. His arms went under her butt, supporting her easily and carrying her like a child.
"I just got a text from my old man," he told her. "Now usually that would piss me off, y'know? And there's a chance we might run into him, but still, it's a street concert by HURL JAM. How awesome is that?" He sure seemed comfortable sharing information with a pet. How rude, Roch.
"It's a reaper band," he clarified, as if she actually cared. "They're doing some sort of all night show with other bands to raise seeds for some sort of big deal. Pop didn't really explain. He actually seriously SUCKS at explaining anything."

Considering that she had never been carried like this (at least, not by anyone who wasn't her parents or her uncle, and not since she was a child), the Baku wasn't sure if she was uncomfortable or not. At least Roch hadn't simply thrown her over his shoulder or something--that she was grateful for.
She nodded as he spoke to show that she understood, but there were some things she was curious about, like...why would he be upset if his father contacted him? Xiu wasn't sure what their relationship was like, and she hadn't seen him in Roch's dream. Still, she kept her mouth shut, intent on staying mute for the rest of the night.
So he was sneaking out to watch a street concert? That wasn't as bad as she thought it would be, though she knew that he would still get in trouble if he was caught sneaking out. Though...now that applied to her as well, didn't it? ...Hopefully they would be able to sneak back onto the school grounds without anyone noticing.
At Roch's comment about his father's inability to explain things, Xiu tried to give him a reassuring pat on the head, but could only reach his nose. ...That would do, she supposed. Pat pat.

Roch blinked as the little baku pet his nose, laughing out loud. "Is that how you comfort someone, huh?" he asked teasingly, reaching out and gently patting her nose as well. "Man you're so jackin' cute," he said, grinning. "We didn't have cute lil guys like you back home, all we had were mangy bastards like my cat," he told her, walking along without a care in the world.
"He actually followed me through the closet," he told her. "Hey, when a minipet follows you through the closet, does that mean he really loves you... or that he really hates you? Cuz I seriously can't tell with Jackdammit."

She wriggled with embarrassment from the compliment, though honestly, it was a little awkward since Roch had no idea that it was her. At least this was Roch, someone she considered a close friend, and not a complete stranger. How much more uncomfortable would she be if some random boil was carrying her around?
Xiu blinked at the question When a...minipet follows you through the closet? She wasn't entirely sure if that was an implication of anything in particular, but...it must mean something when a minipet follows you, right? It seemed like a loyal thing to do in Xiu's opinion, at least.
With her foreleg, she traced a heart in the air as her answer, before looking up at Roch and cocking her head to the side, her ears flopping. It didn't seem like hatred to her!

"Love, huh?" he said, watching the foot movement curiously. "Well, maybe," he went on, a slight frown on his face. "But he almost ripped my face off this morning because I hadn't fed him yet," he told her. "He's a mean little s**t!"
They were getting towards the town by this time, the maul in front of them, but he turned down another path that veered towards the housing district. There was a crowd ahead of them, monsters, demons, all sorts of creatures of every size, shape, or gender. Some of them even waved as they saw the punk boil.
"Hey guys!" he called back. "Me and my date here are just gonna get something to eat! But we'll definitely be here for the concert!" he called as they laughed, waving him off. If he liked bakus, that was his business. "Hey, you eat meat, right?" he asked her as he headed for a dingy, shady little place on the corner.

Xiu had no answer when she learned about his mini's action that morning. Even if she hadn't been trying to hide her identity, the Baku's only reaction would probably be to stare in utmost horror. Perhaps Roch should bring Jackdamnit in for some training if he usually tried to tear the poor reaper's face off!
Fortunately, she was distracted when she realized that they were just about there. Xiu stared at all the people with a sense of wonder, giving a flick of her tail whenever any of them waved to Roch. He knew some of these people, then? ...How often did he sneak out like this anyways?
At the question about meat, the Baku nodded her head. She was an omnivore--she pretty much ate everything, though dreams were obviously her favourite. She didn't think anyone sold dreams around here though. What a pity.

This creepy sounding bell like thing rang over their heads as he entered the Slash and Dine. It was full of big, burly looking monsters that looked as if they ate reaper for breakfast and little bakus for dessert. "Hey," Roch said, heading for the counter. "Can we get two burgers and eyescream shakes? What's your favorite flavor, screechie? Scrawlberry or booberry?" he asked the baku.
"Cute little ghoulfriend you got there," a monster snarled with a hint of amusement.
"Ain't she?" Roch agreed with a grin.
