He'd been persuaded to stay - he didn't quite know how yet, but between over emotional females and his own appreciation for the tranquility of his surroundings, he had elected to stay. He still wasn't sure how long he intended to do so and the rogue mannerisms were still very firm and present within the forefront of his mind. Afterall, he'd been wandering for years and the prospect of settling down in any respect was a foreign concept. He'd been cast out of one pride when the pride leader had gotten so jealous that he'd chosen to expel all males. So, why on earth would Xenon decide to live with another pride after that?
The choice had been made for him if he was entirely honest and one day he would come to realise this. Females were quite good at emotional blackmail and while he still had plans to slip away quietly (in a second attempt to take his leave), as of yet he hadn't come up with a suitable date. Alas, there was absolutely no point in dwelling on it until his mood turned foul, he was gruff enough as it was and a foul mood would just make that worse! No, it was better to simply relax and enjoy the sun... eventually he would find a way to slip out unnoticed.
It was for this reason that the lion was relaxing on the beach. Having found a mound of boulders upon his first few days in this region, he had come to favour them and could often be found basking on top of them. Fortunately for him, their colour when put against his fur, made him blend in to perfection and he was very rarely spotted without a doubletake. With a mane that resembled seaweed and splotches that resembled various forms of algae and sealife, it wasn't uncommon for most to drift passed him.
This was something he was grateful for, especially when he wanted to sleep!
This afternoon wasn't a period in which he needed too much sleep though, instead, he had simply taken to relaxing in his down time and as such, peered lazily out towards the ocean. Every now and then his ears would give a twitch and swivel in the direction of the lapping tide, but for the most part, the rest of him remained perfectly still...

She hesitated to leave the pride. Growing up, Madhura had plagued her mother with questions about the rogue lands because that's where her mother had come from. What her mother told her scared and fascinated her. But now her mother had gone back, and she really wanted to find her and bring her home. The Bahari'mtoto wasn't the same without her mother to talk to. She still felt like a cub, clinging to her mother's legs. She didn't want to part with her mother, at all. Madhura adored the ground her mother walked on.
But since father's disappearance, mother hadn't been happy about anything. Brows knitting, the white and black female looked around as she jumped onto a fallen tree that was still damp from the tsunami that had washed their pride into oblivion and a frenzy. Swallowing, she sighed and sat down on that tree and just looked over all depressed.
She'd traveled two days from her home and there was no trace of her mother's scent.

Xenon was a lion who often kept himself to himself... The pride were aware of this and generally left him be. However, there were some things in life that simply couldn't be ignored and the gulp, followed by the rather deep sigh, was difficult to ignore. The sounds simply didn't fit in with the soft whisper of the waves and as a consequence the lion slowly opened his eyes. A momentary pause to regather his bearings and he reminded himself of where he was - on a beach, in the Bahari'mtoto lands.
This done, he lifted his head and slowly but surely turned round to catch sight of who or what had made the noise. He really shouldn't have been surprised at what he discovered, a small lioness. She looked decidedly upset and he could only begin to assume that the recent events had caused such distress. There were plenty of individuals who were of the same mindset, still suffering from the grief of their dead or missing loved ones.
Was she one of them?
He'd never been the best at comforting another but when she was at close quarters it only seemed fitting that he say something, even if it was ridiculous. "You know, one of your very own kind once told me that swimming settled the mind and quelled tumultuous emotions..." he murmured gently.
