For years, the military and government have used state-of-the-art systems to mimic combat situations, and they kept it out of the public eye.
Not anymore, companies have perfected this technology, and are now using it for gaming. Consoles are relics, and your combat capabilities are only determined by one thing... YOU Press the START button to begin. You respawn, so you don't have to god mod, and all is fair in war.

James was standing around in the "Lobby" area, which was where you wait for your group to get set up to play. He watched other people talk about feats in their combat, close calls, and funny deaths.
He looked sat down and looked around, There were teleporter-like things that took you to specific game modes, and the "Armory" is where you use one of the Holo-computers to set up your class. Everything looked like it was real.
He walked around, seeing if he could round up a teammate or two and start a game.

Chaos just finished a Free For All match, walking out of the game room and into the lobby, his face flashing on the leaderboards as he was in the number one slot. He yawned and looked around for a teammate, as he thought about joining up with someone, for once. He saw James and smiled, chuckling a bit. He whistled at James, signalling him to come over to him, he laid against a wall, giving James a smile.

James raised an eyebrow and walked over to him, "Sup." he said, "Need a teammate?" he asked.

Chaos chuckled, pointing at the leaderboards, and giving him a smirk, "I'm on the top as you can see. I don't just need a teammate. You're going to have to be good in order to team with me. You think you got the skills?" He chuckled and looked up at him, smirking. "If you want me as your teammate, Free For All, one versus one, score to five, if you win, I'll team up with you." He held his hand out to him, offering him a challenge.

James grinned, "Sounds like a deal." he shook his hand, "May the best man win." he was a social player, he played for fun... and a little challenge.

Chaos nodded and gave him a smile, he was a competitive player, he played for keeps, and for the fun and the fame. He walked over to the private matches, starting up a match, finishing and nodded at James, ready when he was.

James nodded back, and stepped into the teleporter.

Chaos stepped into the teleporter after him, starting the match, he picked his 1st class. The course was an urban wasteland at nightfall, his favorite. He pulled out his MP5K, scanning his surroundings, looking around for James, sneaking around, crouched as he looked. He was using his thermal scope to see through the darkness.

James looked around, "Darkness... he probably has thermal..." he grinned, Cat and Mouse with a ghost... original. He picked his ACR, and looked around, slowly stepping forward.

Chaos perked up as he thought he had heard something, looking around and putting his finger on the trigger, he started to creep his way toward the noise, and he accidentally tripped, hitting the floor with a load noise, and quickly getting up and hiding.

James' ears perked up, and he crouched, "Thermal scopes have a slight light... look for a light..." he said, from experience. He squinted for better sight, and started to creep forward again.

Chaos was behind a corner, whimpering a bit, he looked around the corner, turning on his thermal, looking around and thinking to himself, Oh, god. I need more balance, if I slip like that again... He pulled his thumb across his throat and made a dying sound, chuckling and continuing to look.

James heard a click, "Gotcha." he pulled out his machete. And jumped around the corner, he yelled and swung his machete at Chaos.

Chaos yelped and cursed as he got slashed across the chest, falling to the floor and bleeding out, he respawned in another location, cursing to himself and crouching, going toward the place where he died, growling softly.
