The day was coming to a close. A shadow passed through the foliage concealing her form as she tracked her prey from a distance. Terra was trying to hone hunting in her larger form just for the heck of it. If all else failed the batwalker could always take to the air and use the aptly named surprise stealth attack. It'd been a while since she had had her run in with Samsara and although the mare was grateful for what she'd taken from the meeting the need to avenge her defeat burned deep inside.
Anger, rage, instability. Terra had it all working for her now. The deer she was tracking froze in place before ducking it's head to graze. Foolish creature. Terra bolted from the bushes that she'd used to hide her form and took a few hopping skips before launching her heavy body into the air. The wings of her pelt fluttered, keeping her aloft as she brought her fury down on the animal. The take down was swift and soon Terra was feasting on the lifeless animal. Terra quickly flashed back to the first try and hunting a Soquili as she continued to ingest her meal. There had been something thrilling at deciding the fate of another. It was a heady feeling that the batwalker wished to experience again and again.

Jayden yawned softly, today had been a good day. He had looted several pieces of gold treasure, something that attracted him.... Vanity often joked that he should have been a magpie rather than a bat. Foolish idea... who would fear a magpie? Of course, not everyone suspected that when he was a bat he could mean harm..... their mistake. He grinned, oh how he enjoyed the look on their face when they realised it was too late for them.... that they had been mistaken.
His sensative ears twitched bringing him instantly to a stop. The muscles under his skin wriggled in preparation for any swift movement he should take. After a moment he located the source, it wasn't far to his left, and he knew from personal experience that one of the causes was the death cry of a deer. Interesting... it seemed something was hunting. In Jayden's mind this brought two things to mind; one, a Kalona or two, a walker. He approved of both, and before long he was walking in the direction of the sound.
Curiousity he told himself. It was rare that something captured his attention for long, and he suspected this would be no different but still.... it was worth a five minute diversion if nothing else.
It didn't take long for Jayden to find the source of the noise. And as he watched he couldn't help but admire the fluid grace of the female form. In many ways he could see the similarities to those of his sister, except in this case there were no horns or forked tail to add the attack.... just teeth and brute force. He grinned. Interesting indeed. Jayden had never seen another batwalker outside of his sister and the curiousity was too strong for him to ignore.
Stepping forward into the opening his nostrils flared at the scent of blood, delicious. He waited, lazily leaning on a tree near by as he watched. He wouldn't simply interupt, he would just wait for her to notice; though he had no doubt that would happen sooner rather than later... and most likely with anger. He grinned again, thinking of Vanity and how moody she could be when he interupted her in such a way.

So involved was Terra in her meal it took her a little longer for the batwalker to realize that she was no longer alone. Her head came up slowly to pan her gaze around. Blood marred her pristine coat as she scented the stallion and her eyes caught his. Slowly and with a little bit of shock Terra flicked her ears back and forth. Letting her gaze fall to the carcass again she voiced a series of high-pitched trills before falling silent. Terra wanted answers. The anger rose in her as time passed. She had been told that she was the only member of her race - a freak. Now there was more of them?
Flaring open her wings Terra hissed in frustration. It felt as if the world had opened up a hole and she had fallen into it. Locking her eyes back onto the stallion Terra noted the differences between herself and him before she dragged on hoof on the ground. The taste of blood was still strong in her mouth as she gave an audible sound of warning. Her voice echoed into the night.
"Get out. This is my kill. I do not share."

Jayden snorted, wanting little to do with the kill -even if the scent of blood did smell delicious to the point of madness. No, he was more interesting in the beast eating it. He noted everything, how her coat seemed to shift colours as she moved, the black and white appearing to be alive.... the way the blood splattered over her, making it look attractive. He noted the small stumpy tail of the bat pelt where his was elongate for his kalona genes that had once dominated his system. As she looked at him he saw her red eyes..... evil. He licked his lips, evil was good.
"I want nothing to do with your kill." He spoke eventually, his tone lazy and drawn out, almost hypnotic in the flow of up and down notes. "I do not share either." He said, though originally he had intented to keep that thought to himself. The gold that currently hung from his horns was a prime example of that, and eventhough he often hunted with his sister Vanity they always aimed for two or more kills..... neither shared well, and in many ways they needed each other alive. It had been Vanity's cunning that had kept them busy with Jayden's strength and brute force ensuring it happens. It had always been that way, even before their curse.
Lazily he flicked open the wing not trapped between his body and the tree. He twisted it as he observed the taut leather flesh between spindles of bone and none translutant skin. So much like his old Kalona wings.... yet so different. Powerful in a different way.

Hearing that the stallion did not want to have anything to do with her kill Terra shifted her position slightly so that she stood over the dead deer. Her hunger rippled through her body and she took another mouthful of meat and chewed it slowly. All the meanwhile she kept her gaze steady on the other batwalker. The stallion's pelt was littered with markings and she couldn't keep her eyes from taking in the whole image.
With the scan she also noted that the stallion seemed to have different features than she did. A tail for one thing and golden horns. As he spread his wing out Terra noted similarities and grumbled. Rage burned in her yet again at the poisonous lies that had been told to her by the ones that had kept her captive before. Slowly she dipped her head down for another bite and realized that she wasn't interested in her meal anymore. This newcomer drew her attention more than a meal could.
Stepping away from what remained of the deer Terra drew both of her wings close to her body before circling the stallion at a safe distance. Very very unusual. "What do they call you?"

Jayden watched her, patient as always, especially since she had caught his interest. He moved his head, causing the gold to jingle on his horn -part of his mind told him he needed to take his treasures home before he lost them or worst they were stolen.
Still, not yet he told himself with a lick of his lips.... no, not yet.
As she circled him he let her, readjusting his wing so that it was tucked beside his body once more. He kept his head still, tracking her movements with his sensative ears and the slight turning of his eyes when she came into view. He was portraying the same lazy disinterest he often used on his sister.
"Jayden," he replied sharply, his voice an attarctive soft growl as his tail swayed behind him in an almost cat like manner. "....and who, may I ask, are you?" It was probably because she was another walker that he was being so polite, usually he simply took what he wanted, demanded the replies he sought... unless he was interested. It was strange how his interest seemed to change everything. He smirked, if only those treasures that caught his interest knew what power they had over him.
Jayden pushed his body off the tree, gracefully walking with power rippling through the muscles in his legs as he approached her. He didn't get too close, not wanting to scare her away before he had had his fill of the sight of her. "You are a rare gem indeed." He mumbled.

Finished with her inspection of him Terra moved back to the spot where the deer carcass lay before once again ignoring it. This position placed a small amount of distance between the stallion and herself. As the stallion gave his name in a soft growling voice Terra's ears tracked the sound waves. Would it even be possible that this new bat walker would have heard of the place where she'd been held against her will. Better keep that knowledge for herself. The mare was curious just to know how many others of her type existed now and it was with that information dangling before her that Terra had not flown the coop per se.
"I am known to all as Terra Stryker."
As Jayden took steps to close the distance between them Terra's tension level rose. He was moving too close ... too fast for her liking. Still she made no move to flee. The temptation was there but answers could be lurking in the shadows. She needed to stay and figure out what else the carnival would have to pay for. Jayden's last statement caught Terra off guard. "A rare gem you say. Most people see me as a freak of nature. They usually don't last long if I'm within hearing distance though."

Jayden stopped his advance, seeing in her dark eyes that she wasn't comfortable with it... he didn't blame her, it wasn't often that a deadly predator such as herself would be placed in a possition where she may feel like prey. He licked his lips, flicking his head slightly causing the tuffs to sway slightly on top. "And so they should pay." He turned to look at her again, "For you are a rare treasure Terra Stryker." He tested her name on his tongue, a snake like roll of the 's' joined the sensual growl that was his speaking voice.
"Of course....." He said with a nonchalant roll of his shoulders, "....fools often insult what they fear." And Jayden knew.... Batwalkers were to be feared!
He narrowed his eyes on her, not getting closer but not stepping back either. The first was a curtosy to her and the second was because he refused to deem her as the dominate one of the pair. "So...." he asked with fainted disinterest, since he really was curious where she had come frome, "...what is such a pretty and rare thing doing here?"

Terra couldn't agree more. She'd left her encounter with Samsara with the same feeling of rage. She wanted to make those at the carnival pay for there mistreatment of her. After her transformation she should have been worshiped. All she received though were taunts and jeers. Terra had mentally compiled a list of those that she'd go after first when the chance arose. Oh those fools would pay with their lives.
The mare realized that the stallion was still talking to her. The words that he spoke - well if she were not who she was - might make her feel treasured. As it was Terra's lips curled exposing the two sharp fangs that seemed to have appeared after her transformation. Flattery may be all well and grand ... but was there a limit to how much one might be able to flatter her and still escape unscathed. The mare harrumphed before staring down Jayden.
"What does it matter what I am doing here? I'm here and you'll just have to deal with it," Terra let her defensive posture diminish a little, "but maybe you are lucky. I'm willing to oblige your question with an answer: I was what one might call a freak-show attraction from where I came from. The fools thought they could control me. I proved them wrong. Now that I've tasted what freedom feels like - I never plan to let anyone use me again."

Jayden found himself growling, this time there was nothing but feral anger lingering within it, and as the growl took hold of his mouth it curled into a snarl revealing two lines of perfectly white pointed teeth -Jayden always had to be careful to clean after each meal, the lingering scent of blood from his own kills often sending him into a frenzy.... as it was he could smell the scent of the deers blood, and that was probably only intensivifying his reaction to her words. "Fools." he hissed. Anyone who thought they could harness the power of a skinwalker -let alone a batwalker- was a fool and should die by the very creature they had hoped to use.
Of course he didn't voice any of that. Instead he simply shrugged and calmed himself, her words did not bother him in the way of a threat.... after all he lived with Vanity and was more than used to ignoring such arrogant and harsh words. Long ago Jayden had come to the conclusion that female batwalkers were just hotheaded, needing to prove their dominance in someway and since they often lacked physical strength in comparison to him they had to resort to other ideas.
The snarl on his face faded, even as his eyes narrowed on her. "I am lucky...." he said, taking his time and speaking with a calm that usually pissed Vanity off and he hoped would do the same with this mare, "....but do not make the mistake of believing me a push over." He paused before repeating her name in the almost sensual growling voice of his, "Terra Stryker."

Terra found Jayden's utterance of "fools" to be fairly precise in her mind. Although she was learning what it meant to be a skinwalker the day when she would return to exact her revenge loomed far off into the future. There was still a lot for her to learn and get right. This encounter was just one more step for her to take. Realizing that there were others like her in these lands made what she'd become easier to swallow.
Lost as she was in her thoughts of carnage - Terra had missed the fact that Jayden was once again speaking to her. The calm manner in which he spoke grated at her very being but she tamped down on the urge to react to it. Her lips did curl up in defiance at the image that Jayden painted. He believed himself to be greater in strength. How typical of all males.
"Did I say anything of the sort? I believe I only warned you not to push your luck with me. My attitude towards others right now is fairly unpredictable. You could be trying to help me understand something and I would literally claw your eyes out the next moment. It's happened before."
Terra let that bit of knowledge sink in as she crouched low over the kill of the deer. She unfurled her wings from her sides and extended them fully just for Jayden's benefit. His coloration was unusual to say the least. At least she could blend in more with her surroundings.

Jayden watched her display... and couldn't help laughing. It was not because he was trying to annoy her, or because he was particularly unimpressed by the motion, but because it was genuinely amused. They were different mares... his sister and Terra, and although the same tainted blood ran in their veins they reacted differently. He would have to remember that.
With a grin he watched her bend next to her kill, the scent of blood was starting to dry up and cool as the last essence of life left the pathetic creature. Still he forced the idea to the back of his mind as he spoke, "I believe you." He mused, though the fact remained... he was growing bored. Usually he wouldn't admit his bordem but for some reason he did, "I must admit I am growing bored of our little exhange." For a moment he looked to the sky, keeping her in his peripheral view of course, they were opposite he supposed. She blended with the earth and he the night sky.

Terra's nostrils flared slightly as she inhaled sharply. Jayden was bored ... of her. That did not sit at all well with Terra. The mare had never had one person admit that she was boring. Her eyes flashed to the stallion just as he glanced upwards towards the sky. Well ... fine ... be that way. Her gaze narrowed at the distracted stallion. She'd prove him wrong. If it took a fight to do so then so be it.
Terra's wings were still unfurled from showing off her coloring and she took a leap into air before contorting her body's position. She didn't want to overshoot her mark and she was sure that Jayden would sense her presence but the mare didn't care now. Anger had taken a hold of her mind and all she thought about was making Jayden pay for the insult he'd given her.
As she felt gravity's pull on her large form Terra pumped her wings once more before angling her body down. She slammed directly into Jayden's side. A little winded from the impact she snarled out. "Never ignore a vexed female."

Although Jayden had been watching her he made no move to actually move when she manovered towards him. Granted that didn't make the hit any less, he huffed, finding himself being slammed into the tree he had earlier been leaning on as she struck him with all her might.
With a snap of his wing he pushed her away from him, a growl vibrating through his throat distorting his face into a scowl... and for a moment he was tempted to go for her neck. That was until her words reached him....
...words that reminded him way too much of his sister, small but deadly, and pissed off if you actually dared to underestimate them. It was for that reason that he found himself laughing, a hearty sound that seemed to echo in the trees around them surrounding them in a warm embrace of noise. Pushing himself off the tree, his side aching and at the very least bruised though he would assess the damage in private later, he shook his head, the jingle-jangle of the gold bands on his horn from his earlier sucess rang out. He hissed softly, not in a threatening way, just.... a sound, before he spoke, "No.... that would be foolish after all."

Serves him right.
Terra had assumed as Jayden slammed into the tree that he'd try to at least reciprocate the attack. She wanted to resist the force that he used to push her away but it was not entirely possible to do so. Digging her hooves into the ground Terra managed to halt the backwards slide she faced. Jayden was growling - a sure sign of attack. The mare flared her wings open as would a toreador in order to provoke a charging bull. But to her surprise no attack came.
Puzzled but not relinquishing her stance Terra peered at Jayden as laughter erupted from his maw. Of the situation the mare could only guess what was so funny. Letting the sound encircle her Terra let one fang show as she gave an amused grin in response to the laughter. It was infectious.
She wouldn't ask if he was alright. Caring for others was not high on Terra's list of priorities. She took care of no one but herself. When Jayden acknowledged her statement of ignoring females she gave him an incredulous look before shaking her head. "And yet stallions never seem to learn until we knock sense into them. You talk like you have experience in the matter. Do you Jayden?"
