Mirabelle had been wandering about for hours aimlessly. She was afraid to talk to anyone, since the auras she saw where those of dark angry or hateful passerbyers. Even those who didn't have a biased nature towards her, she tried to speak to them, but they ignored her and kept moving. Mira frowned as she slowly made her way down the street, keeping her hand along the wall to prevent running into any walls. Her eyes scanned the beings about her, hoping to see another like her. Just one other Meta, any Meta at all. If she could just find that one person, she'd at least know she was close to the Academy instead of fearing that she was probably only walking farther away.

Aiden had been lounging on her bed, reading a new book that had finally made it to the academy despite how reluctant mail carriers were to deliver to them these days when she first felt it.
Fear... unsureness... loneliness.
She knew immediately that these were not her own emotions, hers were much more diluted, and on top of that she had been feeling what could only be described as content up until that very moment.
She closed the book, not even bothering to mark her place. Aiden then pushed herself upright and hit the floor ready to make a run for it. She instead forced herself to calmly walk over to her shoes, not wanting to startle Edmund. She slipped on her favorite pair, green flats with ruffles over the toes, and then exited the room.
Once she was a safe distance she began to run, not even caring that she was well... wearing a dress and running was a little awkward on a windy day. She was breathless by the time she made it to the front gate, Avon was already there, waiting for her like he knew all along.
"She's not far from here, I trust you'll be able to get her?" He raised a brow.
Aiden merely nodded, not having any breath left to spare on something as stupid as words. Avon opened the gate and she took off again, focusing on those emotions like a tracking signal to find her sister. She ignored all the looks from the humans, they didn't matter. Eventually she saw her, lost, scared, and looking worse for wear.
"M-Mira!" She shouted, looking down the street before rushing across. She didn't think she'd make it if a car hit her, and she didn't doubt that a human would do it, too.

Mira had become so confused from wandering, that she had stopped, only looking around hopelessly. She almost felt like she would just give up, but then she heard her name. Mira whipped around quickly to see the familiar aura of Aiden running towards.
"A-Aiden!" she exclaimed with excitement and relief. She was overjoyed to be found again, meaning that she couldn't have been too far from the Academy after all. Mira felt tears build up behind her eyes as she had to resist the urge to suddenly hug Aiden.
"Mira was so worried she'd be lost forever!" she spoke, covering her mouth with her hands trying not to cry.

Aiden reached out to grab her hand, the one that wasn't masquerading as a method of hiding her tears. "W-where have you been? Are you okay? Mira what happened to you?" A million questions came pouring out before she could even think to stop them. She wanted to hug her so badly, but... she knew Mira would not accept her the way she was now, so until she could find something to bind her breasts, hugging was out of the question.... she hoped. "It's not safe out here, we have to get back to the academy now." She started tugging her twin along, once again looking down the street before bolting across to the other side.

Mirabelle was slightly overwhelmed by all the questions but manage laugh a little. But Aiden was right, it wasn't safe beyond the gates of the Academy and she was more than desperate to feel the grounds' safety once again. Having Aiden's hand she followed her lead across the street. "Mira is very glad to have made it back home safely. How is everyone?" she asked, making a bit of conversation as they made their way back to the Academy. She tried not to look at anyone else on the streets for now, already fearing their judging auras for them, knowing they looked very out of place in the city.

"Good... everyone is good. I haven't seen Andy in months, about as long if not longer than you." Aiden replied quietly, she didn't particularly want to mention Edmund's name, just in case Mira still held feelings for him. When they made it to the gate Avon opened it for them, wordlessly, and then closed it behind them.
"Are you hungry? You must be tired." Aiden gave her sister another once over, inspecting her appearance.

"Mira hasn't heard from anyone for a long time. Has Andy really been gone too?" she frowned at the idea that Andy was not at the Academy. She blinked curiously at Avon, somehow it seemed strange that his aura was a mix of many colors and textures. Shaking her head slightly, she walked closely behind Aiden.
"Mira isn't very hungry or anything. She isn't tired at all either." she smiled. She was just happy to finally feel her connection to Aiden again. She blinked again as Aiden looked over her. Mira averted her eyes slightly, embarrassed by a few new scars that she had. Her bangles covered most of the self-inflicted wounds, but she still had a small bandage on her head from her injury sustained from the humans throwing a rock at her.
Trying to divert the subject from any possible questions of her new teenager appearance and new scars, she began to speak softly. "Mira is sorry that it has been so long. She's really missed you." she frowned slightly, feeling that Aiden may have been really worried about her all this time.

It took all of her willpower to not respond with "But not enough to write me, huh?" That would be unfair... Mira probably wasn't allowed to write letters where ever she went. Aiden was sure that what ever they were doing with her, it wasn't good, based on the wounds. "I've missed you as well..." She trailed off. She wasn't lying, but she would be lying if she said that sometimes she hadn't been happy about her sister's disappearance. It made dealing with the transition from male to female a lot easier on her, that was for sure.
"What were they doing to you? you have more stitches than before..."

She smiled to hear that Aiden had missed her as well. She sensed that Aiden was a little uneasy, but she wouldn't pry. He probably had his reasons. She walked with Aiden within the grounds as she kept a hold of her hand. As soon as Aiden asked the question, Mira paused for a moment, searching for the right words to say without stirring up anger in Aiden for the humans.
"The researchers took care of Mira and ran lots of different tests on her. They taught her many new things in place of school. There wasn't a lot of time to do anything else though. The only part that Mira didn't like was that they didn't want her talking to the others here. They always took Mira's things to prevent communication." she explained calmly. Mira placed her free hand up to the wound on her head and closed her eyes.
"They didn't hurt Mira. Or tried not to. Some of the scars Mira made herself when she was sad. This one, Mira was struck with a rock a human threw at her. The researchers didn't know how Mira heals, so they left it. She will sew it up when she has needle and thread." she paused for a moment to open her eyes and direct her vision towards Aiden.
"Do you have needle and thread?"

Aiden's expression turned from worry to skepticism as she spoke. Tried not to hurt her? Mira was more naive than she thought. Where did she go wrong? But, could she really be blamed? They had both been so naive... the only difference was that after the attack, Aiden had wizened up and Mira... Mira had apparently not.
"Mirabelle, I find it impossible to believe that they were not trying to hurt you. I know you're blind but really, you've got so many more stitches than before," she cut off her lecture, Mira's words had sunk in. She had been hurting herself because she was sad? Maybe she just lacked the vocabulary to properly describe her feelings, but "sad" didn't seem like a deep enough emotion to cause such a reaction.
"Mira you cannot hurt yourself anymore. Aside from the fact that it is wrong and you could really, really do some damage to yourself... you will also be hurting me now. Since you're back there won't be a reason to be sad anymore... no one here will hurt you at all." She sighed, shaking her head. "Yes... in my room, this way." She started to lead Mira to the room she shared with Edmund. Oh... Edmund.
A cold feeling suddenly gripped her insides with an iron fist. What if he mentioned her sex change? Oh... oh god...

"They seemed really nice to Mira, so she believes they weren't trying to hurt her." she frowns, trying to reason with herself that the researchers may not have intentionally hurt her. "The stars told Mira it was going to be okay. She just wanted to help."
She shifted her vision downwards, feeling guilty that she seemed so oblivious about such things. She listened to Aiden talk to her. "Mira doesn't want to hurt her brother, so she won't hurt herself like that. The researchers helped find medication that disconnects herself from you. But Mira doesn't feel sad when you're around, so it's okay now. Mira is happy to hear that no one will hurt her." she gave a half-smile, to show that she was okay. She really didn't want Aiden worrying about her too much.
She followed Aiden as he lead her towards his room. Mira was a little relieved that she'd be able to fix her wound sooner rather than later so that it didn't get any worse or bigger. The researchers usually kept things like sewing needles away from her out of fear that she'd hurt herself with it.
In the back of her mind, a voice rang out softly. 'This is where we belong, Mirabelle. Let's us never part from our home again else we would make Aiden very sad again.' Mira half-nodded in response to the voice as she trailed right behind Aiden, approaching the dorms.

Brother... she expected the word would come up in their conversation, but it still seemed foreign, and almost hurtful even though he knew she didn't mean it that way. "Good. I don't like the sound of that medication, it's probably not very healthy at all." Aiden shook her head with another sigh. They entered the commons area of the dorm and it hit her.
She could just send a text ahead to tell Edmund not to mention anything! She dug her phone out of one of the hidden pockets in her dress and began to type furiously with one hand as they walked.
Edmund! Mira is back, she doesn't know that I'm a girl now so PLEASE don't say anything! I don't think she'll be okay with it.
"Almost there... I'm sure your room is still waiting for you, so when you get tired I'll help you get back over there." She nodded a bit and then placed the phone back into her pocket.

"The medication isn't bad. Just what humans use to subside pain. But Mira doesn't need that stuff. She is fine without it." she answered with a smile, swinging her hand slightly while enjoying Aiden's company once again. She hadn't even noticed Aiden moving about her purse or her texting of any sort. Mira had closed her eyes out of delight and rather was more paying attention not to run into physical objects in the decor of the dormitory.
"So does Edmund still stay with you?" she asked, just making sure not to be surprised if it happened to be someone else instead. The thought of Edmund warmed her heart slightly. She hadn't seen him in such a long time, she even wondered if he'd recognize her anymore or even remembered her.
She nodded to Aiden about her room, it'd be nice to sleep at the dorms again, but it also saddened her that Andy wouldn't be there to talk to if she ever got lonely. Mira supposed if she really got that lonely, she'd probably just manage her way back to Aiden's room.

"Yes, we still share a dorm. He goes to stay with his mother on the weekends, but it's hard since the humans hate us all now." She came to a slow stop in front of the door to the room she shared with Edmund. She reached out, shaking a little, hoping Edmund had gotten the text before she opened the door.
She pushed it open and stepped inside, looking for the other Meta. When she finally spotted him she moved aside for Mira to come in. "E-Edmund, I found Mira!" She announce as she shut the door behind them. Oh how she hoped he had gotten that text.

A sudden buzzing sound accompanied by a jingle made Edmund jump suddenly where he was sitting at his desk studying. The sound of his cellphone alerting him that he had a text startled him. He wasn't the type of person to use his cellphone often. Usually if he wanted to say something to someone he found them in person and talked to him. The only people that ever texted him usually were his siblings and on occasion Aiden if she had something she needed to tell him that couldn't wait.
Edmund reached over to pick up the still glowing cellphone and peer at the screen. The message appeared to be from Aiden. After pressing the button to prompt the text to show Edmund's eye flicked over the screen to read the words. He felt frozen staring at that text in total disbelief. He wondered if what he was reading was possibly true, if Mira had really come back so suddenly like this. A sudden rush of emotions washed over him, so many conflicting ones that he didn't know what to feel.
Something really tipped him off balance though. The bit about not telling Mira that Aiden was now female for the reason that Mira would not be ok with it. He just... could not even fathom that. Sure he understood that there were people like that in the world that didn't accept stuff like that but... he thought that if Mira really loved Aiden she'd be able to accept Aiden for who she really was.
It seemed just as Edmund was wrapping his mind around it more, the door swung open and in walked Aiden and Mira. His soft brown eyes were a little wide and he was still clutching his cellphone. Edmund could see Mira looked like wherever she was, she had been through a lot. She had more scars and stitches then when he had last seen her and it hurt him that he hadn't been able to protect her from them like he had promised.
"Mira.... I..." He didn't even know what he was supposed to say right now. Edmund felt like he couldn't nail a solid thought down. There were so many questions he had. Instead he stood silently and went over and pulled Mira into a concerned hug. He pulled back to peer at her. "Where have you been.... are you ok? You look hurt. Maybe we should take you to a doctor." Edmund turned his gaze on Aiden. He was concerned about how she was feeling about this as well.
