Momo felt guilty about leaving Dath like that. In the head of the moment it hadn't seemed like such a big deal, but the more she thought about it the more she realized she was wrong. She was going to have to deal with it later, though, once they reunited before sleep.
"So, where shall we go?" she asked, knowing that between the two of them they might not be able to take anything large down. She didn't care. It was fun just being out and about with someone new and friendly.

Aysu had stopped feeling guilty after they had wandered off to hunt. She wasn't sure they would be successful but she was pretty sure they would have some fun while they tried.. and it wasn't her problem if Dath was upset about it and Momo seemed capable of dealing with that if she needed to.
"I suppose that depends on what we want to catch, though on our own we may need to aim a bit lower," she said thoughtfully, however obvious it was, "Let's see, what's easy to find around here.."
She trailed off and looked around silently.

"Low is fine," Momo replied happily. She kept her tone quiet, in case there was a herd nearby. She didn't want to ruin their hunt before it started because she couldn't keep her mouth shut.
"Gazelle?" she said, knowing that it was a bit generic but...many of them were small, and it might be possible to pick one off between the two of them.

Aysu was quiet as she considered Momo's hushed suggestion. She scanned the land, trying to remember more specifically what was around them. The pride's lands were filled with open spaces, they had to have a clear view of the sky, after all..
"Hm, I think there's a nice patch somewhere in this direction we could check," she said, looking off one way and taking a couple small steps, "It's a bit lower so it hides prey better. Maybe something easy will be there."

Momo loved the open lands of this pride. And all the grass. She knew that she could let herself be distracted by all the things that grew in it...but instead she had to focus on the hunt. Afterwards, she could enjoy herself.
"Sounds good," Momo said, keeping just a step behing Aysu. Judging from their earlier conversation, she must be a lower-middle class lioness. Momo didn't mind, being only middle class herself. Why not let the one that ha dmore experience with these lands take the lead? It was only the two of them, after all, and not a huge hunting party.

"Alright, then!"
Happy to take the lead, Aysu started off in the direction she had indicated. It didn't take long for her to begin pacing herself more carefully, they were getting near the area. The incline in the land was barely noticeable but when the reached the peak, suddenly the dip down seemed obvious.
Slow and careful, Aysu looked down the hill to where, luckily, stood a small group of gazelle. It was almost too perfect, except that they were so small in number it would be hard to create enough chaos to confuse them. They'd need to be more skillful.
"Coincidence?" she murmured, glancing over to Momo with a smile. Whatever tactics they would need to use, it was still exactly what they had hoped to find.

Momo mirrored Aysu's movements as she followed the dark lioness. It was nice following someone, getting used to the movements. While she could hunt well enough, she had previously been a nanny at her previous pride, and as such she was a bit more rusty in hunting than she would care to admit.
"Perfect," was Momo's initial reply. Her eyes studied the few gazelle that were grazing, trying to look for any hints that one of them would be eaiser to pick off than the others.

Several quiet minutes passed as they observed the gazelles and considered their options and plan of action. Whatever they did, they would need to be closer. And since there were so few of them- both lions and gazelles, a choice beforehand would be very helpful.
"What do you think?" she asked, finally breaking the silence.

Momo shook her head. "None of them seem easy to pick off. Do you still want to try this?" She shrugged, keeping her voice low. "The worst case, we get a good bit of exercise with nothing to show for it?" She smiled at that thought. It wasn't like they had to hunt - this seemed more for fun at the moment.

"We gotta try," Aysu said decisively, and perhaps a bit too loudly-- but a quick look back to their targets was enough to show they were not aware of the lionesses' presence yet. Perhaps that was one of the main advantages to a smaller hunting party, easier to stay hidden.
"Hmm," she murmured, lowering her voice again and looking out thoughtfully. It was time for an arbitrary decision. "That one there, nearest us."
She nodded, though really she said enough. A moderately sized gazelle was a couple feet nearer to them, it seemed the easiest way to pick one out and it would be easier to target.
"Shall we?"
Time to move closer!

Momo nodded silently, ready. "You, left. Me, right." That way hopefully they would be able to cut the poor creature off.
Going out onto a full sprint, Momo snapped at the poor gazelle's back legs, setting it off to run away from the herd. Between the two of them, its attempts to rejoin the herd that was running away were futile.
At one point, Momo felt herself stumble, and her jaws smacked against the hind leg of the creature. It made her area a bit open, but Aysu took that brief moment of injury and confusion of the gazelle to grab it.
Success! Even if it wasn't the most graceful one ever.

Aysu nodded and followed along with the hunt. Everything seemed pretty typical, each action came almost naturally, though with a touch more urgency as there was much more pressure on her specifically. And she was ultimately successful, they were successful.
Her heart pounding, Aysu stood over their prize, catching her breath. Hunting was exhilarating.
"Well then," she said.

Momo laughed, even if one of her paws hurt a bit. Just the shock from stumbling, she'd be fine later. It was just a touch embarassing! At least Aysu was comfortable to be around.
"Awesome!" Momo said, smiling as well as she caught her breath. "We'll have to do that again sometime."

She took a step and had to stop, her head still almost spinning from the rush and sudden stop that usually came with a successful hunt.
She wasn't hungry now but certainly someone was. If Momo had any ideas, Aysu had to assume she'd speak up. After another brief pause and careful step forward, she spoke up.
"Let's see where we can take this."
Fin.
