Bright purple eyes stared out in wonderment at her surroundings. The young grey cub was still getting used to the lands that were her home. It was so exciting! There was so much to do, so many lions to see. It was all so much fun for the girl, and also quite exhausting. She enjoyed playing with her sisters too, though today they did not want to play. Imani frowned. She wanted to play, so perhaps her mother would?
Her grey head down, she decided to try and sniff her out for some pouncing!

Nko had just finished her guard rounds for the day, and gotten herself something to eat. It had been a busy day, and she was eagerly looking forward to some rest. Jiang had fluttered off shortly after they'd gotten back and the red lioness wasn't sure where he went. She waasn't overly worried though. It would give her a respite from his endless irony comments. She stretched out and laid out in the dirt. It felt sooooooo good to just lay there. Nko gave a contented sigh.

It didn't take long for the young cub to find her mother. Although she was young, she knew her smell quite well, and it was her nose that lead her to the location of the brown lioness, lazing in the dirt.
Perfect!
Imani crouched low, coming up to her mother form behind so that she hopefully wouldn't see or hear her. She was close. The cub leaped forward to pounce her unsuspecting mother, however, her eagerness and lack of coordination caused her to overshoot her mark. Imani ended up soaring over the top of her mothers body and tumbling into a heap in front of her.
Purple eyes looked up at the older lioness, an embarrassed look on her face.

Nko had just been on the verge of sleep, unaware of anything wrong. Then a slight shuffle, and the soft breath of a cub pulled her back to consciousness. She laid perfectly still as if still asleep waiting to see what she would do. The breeze of the cub flying over her body wafted down, and then the cub in question came into sight of her slitted eyes. Nko lifted her head and smiled at Imani.
"You are getting better little one." She used a large paw to bring Imani closer for a reassuring snuggle. For the moment she could forget the rank they had been born into. It was better when she 'forgot' or ignored it. After the snuggle she let the cub go. "So what trouble have you been up to today?"

Imani's embarrassment was soon lost when her mother showed encouragement. Even though she was young, she knew that becoming a good hunter would one day make her mother proud. She smiled happily as her mother pulled her in, always glad to be close to her.
"Nothing!" Imani replied matter of factly. The young cub didn't like getting into trouble, though being young and clumsy often resulted in trouble occuring. Thankfully today she hadn't had any incidents.
"Have you caused trouble?" She asked her mother, gazing into her eyes. Then she gave a laugh, it was hard for the young cub to imagine her mother being anything but dutiful, definitely not troublesome!

Nko gave her cub a quick wash to be sure she was clean. "I'm glad you hear you haven't been causing trouble. I think we can find your nanny a grasshopper as a present. Don't you?" She smiled.
"Oh maybe I did as a youngling." She couldn't really recall due to the self-imposed memory block. That and the fact the small group had been desperately trying to find the new home of their pride.

Imani smiled, a present for her nanny would be good! A grasshopper though, the young lioness quickly sighed, they were hard to catch. At least, for her they were.
"Do you think you could help?" She asked her mother, because if this mornings efforts were to go by, she definitely needed it.
The grey cub cocked her head to the side at the mention of her mother's life as a youngster, curious, Imani wanted to hear more. "What were you like as a cub?" She asked, wide eyed, all her attention now on her mother.

Nko gave her cub a soft smile. She was just a cub after all. "Yes Imani. I will help, but you have to actually catch it, k?" The lioness rose gracefully to her feet. It could pretty much be guaranteed that no hoppers would be this close to the lions den. She hoped they wouldn't need to go far to find some.
Leading Imani, she walked slowly as she looked for a good source of hoppers. Even a small grassy area could hold a large number. Nko pondered Imani's question then laughed. "Oh, I image that I and my brother caused our mother quite a bit more trouble then you and your siblings do for me." She didn't mention the slave who raised them after their mother was killed. "We were traveling in a small group, looking for the main pride. Endless opportunities for a young cub to get into trouble." She gave a chuckle that her cub could join in on.
