 Pacing back and forth, the lioness growled under her breath. This whole situation with the water supply had gotten the whole pride up in arms, many of them already had a firm opinion as to how they should deal with the shortage, but many were on the fence, willing to follow what the rest decided. It was those who refused to take responsibility for their own minds that truly got under her skin, for they, more than anyone in her opinion, dragged the pride's moral down. Action brought relief, where as inaction brought strife and friction between the pride members. Yet she herself could not reconcile what she knew was the more reasonable thing to do, with the rumors of another pride waiting to attack them, and what her conscience demanded was the 'just' path.
Sighing heavily she lowered her head and rubbed a solid paw across her face wearily. She was a soldier, she had to do her duty to the pride, but by the same token the thought of the cubs, the future of her beloved pride, being deprived of water and left to die, did not seem right. How could she protect both the pride in the present, and also ensure the pride even had a future. Her circling thoughts tumbled over one another, resulting only in confusing her further and giving her a pounding headache.

Azar was one of those who already made up her mind on what was going to go on. She always knew what she wanted to do and how she wanted to think. Azar had a strong mind, she was independent and quick on her paws. She had some of both of her parent's best traits. She hated this drought though, she wished that she could do something. She had ten cubs, ten cubs that weren't feeling good lately because there was no water 10 cubs that she didn't really have an answer for. They all wanted to know where the water was and she wanted to give all of them a question. Because of that she knew what she wanted to say, what her idea was to help the pride. It was really the best thing she could do. She wasn't sure if the pride was going to go in the same direction as her, but she could only hope there would be others that felt the same as her.
She had been wandering the pride that day trying to offer herself where she was needed. She was a solider but she knew there wasn't any fighting needed right everyone was needed in other places. She was needed in another place, she needed to do other things that were needed to be done around the pride and she knew that she could do them. She could help and that was all that mattered to her.She wandered quietly around the pride at the moment she couldn't find anything to do but she knew there was a chance of finding something. She paused for a moment as she spotted another figure in the distance, it was another female, she had never seen her before. She actually looked a lot like one of the lionesses that Azar was teaching for a while. "Are you okay?" She called to the other lioness. She seemed kind of distressed.

A voice pierced through her tumbled thoughts and the distressed lioness turned, pale eyes squinting against the glare of the sun to spot the dark shape of another lioness. She thought she recognized the other, a soldier, but she didn't know the dark female's name. Turning she dipped her head in a polite bow of greeting though as the darker lioness drew close, the troubled expression on the younger was clear to see.
"I am fine, thank you... I'm sorry if I caused any concern..." Pausing she seemed to wrestle with something then looked back at the other. "Has there been any more news about the water? Any new sources found?" It was a vein hope but she had to hope, had to try and believe that the end was close, even if she knew, in her heart, it wasn't. She did not want to make the decision of who to sacrifice, who was worthy of something that should be available for all. Who was she to decide who deserved to live, and how could she choose? The present, or the future? What kind of decision was that? There had to be another way....

Azar looked at the other female and then shook her head, she offered the lioness a small but kind smile. "No worries, you just seemed a little distressed and I wanted to check and make sure that you were okay." She then let out a small chuckle at the idea. "I'm very glad that you're okay though, one less pride member to have to be very worried about." She chuckled slightly nodding at the lioness and then pausing. "News about the water." She repeated thinking herself, it seemed to be a general question around the pride. Everyone wanted to know if there was news about the water, and not only that but everyone wanted for there to be news about the the water. However on the other hand, there was no news to be shared.
she shook her head with a sigh. "Sadly there is none that I know of. the only news that I can speak is the meeting coming up that is to decide how the pride is going to handle the water situation." She stated simply shaking her head. She really wished that she could offer a better set of nes, she would be very excited if she could offer more of an answer then that. She paused and watched the younger lioness thinking. She had raised a large litter of children, she was in fact still raising them. "I've seen that face before." She said simply before shaking her head. "Is there something on your mind?" She asked curiously hoping that if there was something on the lionesses's mind it wans't anything that bad.

The younger female seemed to slump into herself at the reply, though in truth she really hadn't expected anything else. She still hadn't been able to stop hoping.. as one day someone was going to have to give a different answer..or the entire pride could be wiped out.
"Thank you.. I am sorry... but its such a worry." Nodding slowly she looked up at the older female with worried eyes. "Yes... the meeting. I had heard about the possibility of one being called.. Do you know when it will be?" Her tail was kept low against her rear paws and her ears were slanted to each side, dejected. She wasn't looking forward to the meeting at all and was almost in a panic about what way she was going to vote. On the one hand, they needed the guards to protect the pride with that hostile band waiting close to their boarders, but if they looked at the short-term, the long term health of the pride was going to suffer. If they lost the young ones... would the price ever be able to recover? Not just its numbers... but its moral and its heritage.
Blinking at the sudden change of topic, the red-furred female gave the other lioness a quizzical look. "... my face...?" She asked a little confused, voice soft. "I'm Kuza, daughter of Jyotika... or one of them anyhow"
