It's ******** anti-semitism that gets to me.

I can't hide being Jewish. I have an obviously jewish last name, I have to wear a hat all the time, and I can't eat like everyone else. But it isn't like I flaunt it either.

My life at work tonight:

This kind of s**t happens all the time.
One time, my boss actually asked me to identify if a bill was counterfeit or not because 'Jews are good with money.'

Another person, not my boss, once asked me if they could see my horns.

Ughhh, all the time. Especially living in the South.
I don't mind the black jokes here and there, but it get's
really annoying after a while.
It's like black people are a mystery to some people.
Here are some of the things that have been said to me:
"Why isn't your hair like other black people ( I have
curly hair.)?"
"You're cute for a black guy." <- this is one that realllllyyyy pisses me off.
And believe it or not
"Are black guys' semen brown?"

A few months ago a group of us wanted to go out to eat. Popeye's
was on the list, but I'm actually not a huge fan of fried chicken. And when I
told them this....some random douchebag who was with us ******** gasped.

While in the cafeteria at my college, a classmate of mine saw me sitting
by myself so he came to sit with me. I noticed he was looking at my
glass of orange juice. He looks at me, smiles, and says "What, you're not
drinking grapejuice?"

I got up and left.

For people to sit there and insult you because of race, religion, or sexuality
is just pure stupidity and immaturity.

This same manager asked me once if 'The Jews like the Blacks.'

I looked at him like 'wtfareyoukiddingme?'

So he's all "oh, so you do? Yeah, okay, that makes sense - I bet you do."

I just walked away. How on earth can you be so ignorant?

BUT IT GETS BETTER.
He asks me later "so, uhh, are there black Jews?"

I told him yes, and that God gave them the power to fly because so many people hate them. I think he believed me.

Sickening. Some people are just total assholes. I don't think
I could last working at a place with a manager like that.
And I've also been asked if there were black Jews before. confused
What get's me is that when I tell them off, they think I'm
being over dramatic. "Dude, I'm just joking with you."

Well, the worst that's been done to me is a couple of comments about how I'd look good in a carnaval de rio costume because I have a "brazillian butt", and the assumption that i can samba.

Also, the phrase "sex before marriage is like eating the cake before the party", which of course makes me wonder if the sex is supposed to be shared with the guests of the marriage.

Cake became my codeword for sex, of course. Makes the idea of birthday parties rather interesting... xp

For some reason people seem to think that I don't count as being black. I think it's mostly black people that say this too.
Some friends of mine have the same problem of saying they don't count. For some odd reason around here if you don't fin the stereotype that other black people don't like you and say you don't count. How do you count?

I'm in the process of becoming a Wiccan, so people think I'm a devil-worshipper. Catholicism is closer to devil-worshipping than Wicca. gonk

That's really disrespectful to Catholics- as someone who gets called a devil-worshiper, you'd think it'd be nice if you could be a little more respectful to other people and not fling that kind of insult around so casually.

Ah so am I, but I have yet to tell everyone about it. Especially my
family, which consists of some devout Christians. Only two
of my friends know. How long have you been studying? It's been
almost 2 years for me, but I haven't been reading like I should
due to the lack of certain books and other reliable resources. But luckily I
was able to find Scott Cunningham's 1st and 3rd book and a few others here
and there.

Okay, I think you're missing the point of the thread here?
Catholicism in no way resembles 'devil-worship.'
That's a really hurtful, not to mention completely unfounded, thing to say.

Well, I say let people live in their ignorance. Try not to let it offend you because it's their own stupidity that will eventually be their fall.

yeah it kinda is ^^;
especially due to the fact that one of the main parts of Catholicism is to reject the devil and hate sin stare

I don't think I expressed myself clearly there. I wasn't trying to bash Catholicism. The reason I think that it's closer to devil-worshiping than Wicca is because in Wicca, there's no devil to worship.

Catholics don't worship the devil either. stare

Look- I grew up with Catholicism an I'm currently seeking under a Gardnerian coven- which means, unless you're not actually Wiccan, I'm in the same boat as you are. I think it's really disrespectful to do to Catholics what you dislike being said about Wicca- so please just stop.

Out of curiosity, what tradition are you seeking with?
