Like I said before, I'm not good at describing rooms... but I found a nice picture I'd like for my apartment to look like. What do you think?

Layla had been working on a painting when she felt the wireless vibrating buzzer that signaled a knock at her door. She stopped, set the brush down, and wiped her hands on the old jeans she always wore to paint. Opening the door, she looked at her visitor inquisitively.

Aonice smiled and waved warmly, She then held out a small basket of fruits and candy. "Welcome to the Island, Love" She giggled, "What's your name?" She asked curiously, totally oblivious of her handicap.

Layla smiled, eyes glittering. The woman who answered the door seemd a tad maternal, which was comforting to her. When Aonice started to speak, Layla cut her off by waving her hands and shaking her head. She starts to sign VERY SLOWLY.
THANK-YOU. YOUR GIFT NICE. I FEEL WELCOME HERE. I DEAF. CAN-YOU SIGN?

Aonice blinked as she was cut off, and looked at the girl blankly while she signed.. A few seconds of silence passed before the light suddenly went on in Aonice's head, and she suddenly blushed, not knowing sign, or how to talk to a deaf person... "Uhm.. " She looked around the room, then shrugged and simply held her hand out for a handshake with a caring smile.. She had never met a def girl before..

Layla sighed. She was hoping someone would know sign here. Even just one person.
Shaking off her disappointment, she put the basket on the coffee table as a centerpiece and located a pen and a notebook. She wrote in the notebook:
I guess you know I am deaf now. I name My name Layla. My name is Layla. Your name you?
She hands the notebook to the curvacious woman and smiles apologetically, blushing a little from embarrassment.

Aonice giggled as she read the paper, finding the girl all too adorable. She took the pad and wrote in response:
Don't worry about your grammer, i know Sign has a different structure, i just don't know how to.. She began seraching for a word, considering one woudn't speak sign.. Well, Sign i suppose. How has your stay been so far?"
Aonice then handed the sheet back over to Layla with a warm and rather adorable smile, looking back up at the taller woman.

Layla motioned for her visitor to sit and sat down with the notebook. She wrote back:
Okay. I arrived from plane. I was lost. Couldn't find apartments. Went bar Went to bar and Libby (right name? Bartender?) helped find it. Very nice lady.
She skips a line and writes:
You never told your name to me.
She hands over the notebook again.

Aonice blushed and smirked, then wrote down her name, and held the notebook up towards the girl when she was done, pointing at each syllable as she spoke her name, considering it was rather uniquely pronounced... "Eye-On-Niece" Aonice She smirked warmly before continuing to jot down. Libby's one of my best friends on the Island, She's really cool.

Layla nodded, smiled, and signed, NICE MEET YOU.
After she signed it, she wrote it down and pointed to each word, showing her the sign for each individual word.

Aonice giggled, then raised a brow and wrote down.. Can you lip sink? Are you mute as well? I don't mean to be blunt, but it'd help me in the future

Layla took the notebook back and wrote in it:
Lip sink? What that is? You mean read lips?
She skipped a line and then added:
Yes. Deaf-Mute. Just like you hearing-speaking.
She pointed to the words, "Deaf-mute" and "hearing-speaking," showing her the sign for each.
