In POTS we have a number of great professions, but it'd be even greater to have more. If you have ideas for awesome new professions, write them up using this format. Refer to existing professions for more details.

Custom Professions will be made available to everyone if approved. Don't think you're going to get one for yourself.

Professions may have similar benefits to existing professions, but if the profession is too similar, it will be denied.

A profession must have at least two weaknesses.

A profession must have at least two benefits per rank, but may have more.

Geisha

User Image

Base Benefit:

Nimble Step Being that their
( The user has an extra stackable +1 to evasivness )

Weaknesses:

1) Feminine Mystique This ninja specializes in the more geisha aspect of her trade.
( Must be female, lacks one taijutsu style that they would normally have. )

2) Femme Fatale This sort of Geisha keeps more at her disposal, but doesn't train in specific aspects of the body, thusly lacking in endurance of pain.
( Must be female, gains damage as if it were one rank higher. )

Rank Benefits

Genin Benefits

1)Poisoner This geisha is capable of creating her own poisons and using poisons given to her by anyone.
[ The user knows their way around poisons, and can create their own custom poisons. ]

2) Silent Step This ninja has completely forgone the capabilities of poisoning her target, and focuses more on the aspect of being able to quickly maneuver her way to the target silently to not alert them. These shinobi do not trigger weight traps, and they do not make any noise whether running or walking.
[ The user is almost completely silent, and makes no sound when maneuvering. ]

Chuunin Benefits

1) Rappaccini's Daughter Through extencive exposure to the poisons she has created, she has obtained several effects, all melded together, and her body carries a bit of the poison she uses.
[ The ninja has been exposed to her own poison long enough, and in such small, yet powerful quanities that she obtains some of the effects from the poison in her own bodily fluids. If she uses a liquid, her tears, blood, saliva, and any other fluid contains the effects of her liquid poisons. If it is a gaseous poison, her breath contains traces and prolonged exposure in an enclosed area makes it so that everyone else is affected. If a solid, then her touch confers the symptoms, but only is she touches a weak area, such as the eyes, ears, nose, or mouth. ]

2) Sister of the Night This ninja is a master of hiding in enclosed areas. She is able to slide into the shadows to evade someone should her attempt at killing the target fail.
[ The user is capable of using the Kakuremino No Jutsu as a passive ability as long as she is in the shadows, or a dark place. Movement speed is reduced by 2 ranks, minimum of E rank, and evasivness without canceling is reduced by 3 ranks, minimum of E rank ]

Jounin Benefits

1) Elusive EnenraThe geisha is so skilled at evading her opponent's attacks, that she is supposedly an enenra, a yokai that is made entirely of smoke.
[ The ninja gains another boost in evasivness, +1 Rank in evasivness ]

2) Improvise Having been around several poisons not her own, or affected by several poisons, she realises that in order to have the best outcome of any situation she needs to learn the poisons of her opponents, as well as those of her allies.
[ By using their knowledge of the natural and unnatural poisons, these ninja can recreate any poison that has effected them five or more times. If they can find the recipe, then they can reproduce it at a much lower rate, and in small quanities. If poisoner wasn't taken at the first rank, it is obtainable at this rank. ]

Learning Info

Genjutsu takes -1 post to learn, taijutsu and weapon styles take +3 posts to learn.

While this looks like a cool hybrid, I am opposed to any profession that is gender specific.
PostPosted: Mon Mar 19, 2012 1:46 pm

Gregar828

The reason I made it gender specific is because I don't want dudes running around with only a yukata on. xD That's my entire premise for making it gender specific.

I honestly tried to think of a way to work males into it, but I kept getting the image of a huge buff dude wearing only a Yukata... cry

Denied. Five out of six of the benefits are just reworded benefits from other professions, and the sixth is far too powerful to be allowed. You'd be better off trying to offer an upgraded version of the Assassin bloodline with extra benefits, but since those would be poison, and we already have multiple poison using professions, it's unlikely to pass.

I don't exactly see the five you're refering to, but I'm fine with you denying it.

but if you wouldn't mind, pointing out the ones you think are reworded, so I can get a better grasp on it?

All of the stealth ones belong to the Assassin profession. Poisoner is a benefit belonging to multiple professions, such as Medic and Puppeteer. And sorry, it was four out of six.

Shinobi-Monk

User Image

Base Benefit:
Gift of the Yamabushi:The shinobi-monk are gifted with the ability to resist harmful effects of chakra, making Genjutsu and Ninjutsu less effective against them. As this is a passive ability, it does not require any chakra nor count as a post action. However, the effectiveness of this ability is based on the the monks rank and the rank of the opposing effect. Additionally, chakra is not absorb but disrupted upon contact regardless of potency or nature.

For the purposes of Genjutsu resistace, any Genjutsu at least two ranks below their own in ineffective. Genjutsu one rank below their own naturally decay over the course of three posts.

Against Ninjutsu, damage taken is reduced by 1.5 ranks making E-rank techniques completely ineffective and D-rank techniques able to be shrugged off with ease. This particular benefit makes Ninjutsu the least effective method of combat against shinobi-monks.

Weaknesses:

1) Difficult Art: Despite the extreme dedication a Monk applies to his art, blending the supernatural aspects of chakra with fanatical martial devotion is extremely difficult and thus the Monk spends extra time learning ANY new technique so as to properly incorporate them into their fighting style.[+4 additional posts for any Non-Bloodline/Clan technique).

2)Curse of the Pacifist:A Monk may never, under any circumstances, initiate combat with another opponent(unless he too is a Monk). If combat is initiated by the ninja-monk, they suffer a -1 rank penalty to ALL physical stats for the first seven posts of battle. In addition killing a non-hostile/threatening enemy denies any chakra regeneration for the following day. Finally, Kinjutsu require 5 extra posts of self-justification to learn.

Rank Benefits

Genin Benefits

1) Field Surgeon: This devotee to the study of health and the body is highly knowledgeable about the functions and vulnerabilities of every body part and is a more than capable surgeon, relying on tools, knowledge, and experience rather than medical jutsu. Additionally, this allows the ninja monk to learn an additional rank of medical jutsu beyond their current ability.
[Surgical efficiency/experience, advanced anatomical/medicinal knowledge]

2) Barrier: Barrier surrounds the user or technique with a powerful shield-like aura essentially strengthening the defenses against chakra for a certain period of time (or until the extra points are taken off by damage, whichever comes first).

Barriers do not protect against physical damage like melee attacks, debris or environmental hazards. However, the chakra in chakra-based attacks is soaked up by the barrier. Even Genjutsu is subject to this barrier, fizzling out against the Barrier. All Barriers last for 3 posts before needing to be re-cast.

D-rank: Soaks up a single D-rank technique, or three E-rank techniques.
C-rank: Soaks up a single C-rank technique or three D-ranks.
B-rank: Soaks up a single B-rank technique or three C-ranks.
A-rank: Soaks up a single A-rank technique or three B-ranks:
S-rank: Soaks up a single S-rank or two A-ranks.

Chuunin Benefits

1) Increased Endurance/Durability:The ninja-monk trains themselves to survive in the least favorable conditions and as a result, is capable of maintaining peak performance levels in harsh environmental terrain and without sustenance three times longer than an ordinary ninja. Additionally, poisons only last for half of their duration, progressing normally but suddenly dying off mid-progression. Even intense agony will not break a ninja-monk, making them poor targets for torture.
[High pain tolerance, halved poison duration, halved duration or severity of injury from damaging techniques.

2)Enhanced Chakra Control :The ninja-monk increases the efficiency of their techniques by developing better chakra control. This allows them to conserve their chakra in battle by applying the same chakra reductions of the Chakra control perk (or if the monk already possess the perk they receive the same bonus as if it were their only perk). Additionally, they may perform jutsu with a single hand unlike most other shinobi.

Jounin Benefits

1) Divine Emptying Blows:The ninja-monk seeks to resolve confrontation and chooses to do so by weathering the enemies morale and will to fight. This skill teaches the ninja-monk to strike the full extent of their strength with every blow and yet leave the body intact, with no trace of damage. A successful Divine Emptying blow seems to reposition the enemy as far as 10 meters from the ninja-monk, winded and incapable of controlling/molding their chakra during their next post with a direct blow. However, the ninja-monk is unable to strike again until the enemy regains the use of their chakra.
[Regular attacks fatigue the opponent as if they performed a jutsu two ranks below themselves for each blow, The Divine Emptying Blow must be announced during the post the strike is made]

2)Meditative ReflectionThe ninja monks seeks resolve confrontation and chooses to do so by allowing the opponent to wear themselves out. This skill teaches an art that allows the ninja-monk to soak in the kinetic energy from an attack, creating the illusion that the enemies strength is failing. With each parry/block, more and more force is absorbed until even the mightiest of swings from the opponent barely shifts the monk. And then, once the enemy is exhausted after expending so much energy, the monk merely makes physical contact and transfers the kinetic energy into the body in the form of additional exhaustion.
[Regular blocks/parries absorb 1/2 a cumulative rank in Strength from Taijutsu/Kenjutsu. Meditative Reflection, once used, adds up to the total rank of strength absorbed and applies the exhaustion an enemy as if they performed a jutsu of that rank.

Learning Info
N/A [Dependent on Weakness chosen HOWEVER, anyone who picks both weaknesses only has to pay 2 extra post to learn ANY technique(that cannot be increased or decreased in any way) and +3 extra posts to justify learning a Kinjutsu]

Knights of Loyalty
User Image

Base Benefit:

From the Heart:
Can use a single jutsu of the user's rank for free while fighting alongside an individual that reciprocates a strong sense of friendship or higher bond. Can only be used once per battle.

For the Heart:
If in the presence of a lover or life partner, the user's chakra pool increases by one-third.

Weaknesses:

Loneliness:
To be separated from individuals you share a strong bond with cuts down your chakra pool by one third.

Neutrality:
Being in the presence of individuals that have neither a negative or strong positive bond causes the user to drop a rank in speed. This is caused by a lack of motivation for the user. Is made null only by the Shield of Honor and Rule Breaker benefit.

Aggression:
To be in the company of people you feel negatively about causes the user to spend double the chakra points on the first jutsu they cast. Is not made null even if an individual of strong bond is present.

Rank Benefits

Genin Benefits

Rule Breaker:
Breaking a rule or order to aid another individual gives the user a boost to speed. The urgency to help the other person pushes them to move one rank faster than their current level until the task is accomplished. No strong bonds required.

Loyalty:
Seeing an ally get seriously hurt gives a reaction boost. The user is able to perform an extra attack in the next post they make ( not stack-able with other benefits ). No strong bonds required.

Chuunin Benefits

Back-to-Back:
Fighting alongside a someone you share a strong bond with allows a sense of prediction of each other's movements. After fighting together for some time (ten posts in battle) the user is able to give support to that individual in any battle that occurs from then on. Back-to-Back grants the user a combo-technique that can only be performed with one select person. If the character wants to learn it for another partner, another ten posts must be made in training with the other. The power of the attack (be it jutsu or physical) is dependent on the rank of this profession's user. Two people must actively participate in this technique - chakra cost is shared between them, if applicable.

Shield of the Knight:
A protective jutsu the same rank as the user, it is formed with the chakra of the user and its cost is shared with a trusted fighting partner, half an' half. The user's chakra will form a shield at their arm, the other hand in contact with it's partner. It can withstand attacks of the user's rank, but will shatter after taking a higher rank, be useless against anything higher than a single rank, and costs for each post in use. The user needs to be in physical contact with their partner for it to be used successfully.

Jounin Benefits

Camaraderie:
To fight alongside a close friend or higher bond incurs an increase to attacks by one rank. Is learned by fighting alongside that individual, and is only applicable with that individual present. More than one comrade can be made. Does not stack with itself or other benefits.

A Matter of Honor:
A last-effort attempt in winning a battle, it can only be used when the user is critically injured and the partner is either in the same condition or about to be critically injured. Whether the user has the chakra for it or not, they will use either a weapon or jutsu of choice to give one final strike against the enemy. The user will faint and remain unconscious for three posts afterwards.

Learning Info

There are no learning modifiers applicable to this profession.

First off what are Ninshu arts? would they be like custom jutsu for monks? Or a specific jutsu list for members of this

Overall the weaknesses are fairly good, and counter well with the base benefit.

Acrobat Specialist: So long as it isn't used with any Ninja Type that boosts your Evasion/Agility and it's good to go

Increased Durability/Endurance: What do you mean by ' training duration is doubled '. Also, is this a skill that needs to be trained for or is it just something that comes as soon as the user ranks up?

Spiritual Senses: What's the range of this? Does it work just like the sensors in TUP/the anime/manga where the sensor can tell if a target is under a genjutsu or if a jutsu is being cast? Further more can it also sense how deep is the chakra pool inside of a person and if there is another entity, a demon for example, within the person?

Divine Emptying Blow: Does it costs chakra do use this technique? Because i feel it should; C or B rank chakra.

Meditative Reflection: This only works with physical techniques right? And does the user take damage from the moves? Also this should have a cooldown period because soaking the damage of moves is pretty extreme.

I feel like Greg should take care of this one himself, I don't see myself approving something like this because the benefits are too case-specific so Greg, if you'd please, or Hinote.

Alright, I will review these, but I'm gonna start off by saying this to everyone: Please don't post in this thread with new Shinobi Professions unless we, the crew, express an interest in seeing a user-created class. We simply can't allow everyone to make a custom Shinobi Profession, it splits things up far too much.

@Martin: You cannot have more than one base benefit, unless the benefit is extremely class specific (Ex. Sealing master benefit stating the ability to learn all seals, and the other one stating ability to self teach seals, or the Weapon benefit of learning more styles, as well as more custom weapons.)

What is "Ninshu"?

The sedative perk implies that only a monk would be able to make sedative substances, something that could be seen as a poison. That would be unfair to a poisoner who made a sedative substance. If you want to make the perk a poisoner, or even a medicine perk, that could work.

Curse of the pacifist is a bit confusing. The way I read it is, a monk always suffers -1 to stats unless defending or fighting a fellow monk, presumably in a training session?

For nit-picky purposes, the acrobatic specialist perk would be +1 to reaction speed (the same as evasion/agility, but specifics need to be followed).

If Increased Endurance is taken, is training doubled for ALL aspects, or just physical ones?

A Tap can activate the divine emptying blow? That seems a bit much, especially if it has a knockback of 10 feet. It would have to be a blow that made contact.

Meditative reflection makes very little sense. Even if its a "long forgotten art", how can a human body literally absorb kinetic energy, then transfer it back in a simple touch? This sounds a lot like the move Bide, from Pokemon gen 1, which doesn't make much sense either.

Is spiritual senses active at all times, or only in meditation? If active at all times, its a bit OP. The ability to passively detect chakra through physical objects, with the ability to tell intent from the chakra? A bit much, especially for a chuunin ability.

You only pick one weakness.

@Black: A Shinobi profession is supposed to somewhat define the fighting style of your character, be they a brawler, field medic, ninjutsu specialist, etc. This, however, does not fall into those categories, and is really not a shinobi profession at all, despite the word "Knight" implying that they're a heavy attack specialist of some sort. Every one of these abilities would fit better as a custom talent. I'm sorry, but I cannot approve this as a shinobi profession.

A 'fighting style'? Isn't that what this is? A style where the user is dependent on another individual?

Also, the first post in this thread says that new profession ideas are welcome here. If that has changed, please edit the post so as to avoid confusion for the members.

Ninshu was going to be a set of jutsu that monks would specialize in (other shinobi could learn it but certain penalties would apply). I think I will just incoporate my other base benefits into Ninshu techniques and just leave the ability to specialize in Ninshu as the monk base benefit.

Sedative perk: That is understandable, I'll edit up a replacement Medicine perk later today.

Curse of the pacifist: The monk only suffers the penalty if they start the battle by attacking first. Essentially, they will rarely ever begin battles if they can help it.

Acrobat Specialist: Editted for +1 reaction speed.

Increased Durability/Endurance: Well since you have to train to obtain rank benefits, I felt that for balancing purposes doubling the training would make this more likely to be accepted.

Divine Emptying Blow: I editted it so that a direct blow must initiate it. Also, for Akura I'll add a C-rank chakra cost for it's use.

Meditative Reflection: Would you prefer if I made this a chakra-based technique then? And I believe in suspending your belief/ some aspects of logic and reason when it comes to such things.

Spiritual Senses: I can edit so they require concentration to detect chakra through physical objects if they are allowed to passively judge intent. Also is a range of 15-20 feet good? And for Akura, they can tell when a jutsu will be performed but when it comes to oddities in chakra flow they could not easily tell the difference between affliction of Genjutsu, resident demon, or just a funky kekkei genkai that makes their chakra behave weird.

But nothing stops you from taking two weaknesses, which I believe would be a pretty tough choice combat-wise but good for adding depth to a character. So I decided to reward/offer an incentive to taking both weaknesses.

OKay so after reviweing this Profession i have come to say that yes, it can be approved, but on one condition; if the user is tied down to the two man team shinobi type. So in my opinion this is approved. My suggestion is that Hinote has the final word in it.
