Carles finally got time in evening to slip away from the pride. He used the excuse that he was looking for inspirations. When in actually it was just one inspiration he was looking for; the cheetah Nyofu. He was looking forward to getting together with her again. Carles loped easily to the place where he'd met the cheetahess before. There was still plenty of light to see by for now, but it was quickly fading.
"Nyofu? Are you around? It's Carles." Hopefully he looked around for her. The markings on her body and tail greatly intruiged him. Slowly he circled and sniffed the air for her scent. Had she left without saying good bye? The male cheetah hoped not. Maybe she'd just gone to get something to eat. Ever hopeful, he sat down to wait her return.

Today had been a busy day for both Nyofu and Kelele. The serval and cheetah had both spent most of the day hunting, each for different prey, but never far from each other. Now, though, Kelele had wandered off to seek out a new lady friend, and Nyofu was left on her own. Normally this left the brown female rather distressed, but not today.
No, today she had a goal in mind, and as such wasn't bothered at all by his wandering off. In fact, she was pleased by this opportunity - as long as he didn't return early, which had happened on occasion. She wasn't sure if he would take too well to the one she intended to meet.
But surely he wouldn't show up, and Nyofu would have all of the time in the world to talk to Carles.
Trotting in the direction of their meeting spot, she spotted Carles easily from a distance - that white pelt was very distinctive.
"Carles, hello!" she called out, excited about the fact that he was really here.

Carles perked his ears as a familiar voice called out to him. He stood up and looked around. There she was! "Nyofu! I was worried I would miss you tonight." He gave a purr and a friendly greeting with a head rub. Carles was very glad he hadn't missed her.
"How have you been? Oh remember I said I might be able to help you find your way?" He bent down and picked something up at his feet. A small oval rock swung on a vine. It twisted and twirled a moment then hung still. He watched her closely for her reaction. "It's not done yet, but I thought you might want to see it." He said around the vine in his mouth.

Nyofu smiled as she drew closer, before sitting down and folding her tail around her legs. "I'm glad to see you," she said cheerfully, golden eyes bright and sparkling."I've been well. What about you, Carles?"
She paused for a moment and peered at the swinging rock. "Oh, it's pretty!" she the female exclaimed, moving closer to look at it. "How will it work?"
It would be nice to not get lost all of the time!

Carles ducked his head, pleased, that she was glad to see him. He hadn't met anyone like her in his pride. "I'm good. My arts have been coming along slowly, but steadily." He puffed his chest out slightly as she looked at his stone. Letting the stone drop, he replied. "I'm not sure. But it does consistently point toward the sun at its highest peak." He nodded.
"I tested it many many times to be sure. You'll be able to rest assured that you're going in a straight line." He smiled, "pick it up. You try! Course I'll have to find a way for you to hold it and see it." His tail twitched in eagerness.

Nodding, Nyofu picked up the rock-and-vine combo and watched it spin. After a few moments, she put it down again and smiled at Carles. "Oh, this is wonderful! It will be a great help," she said, and would have gone on, but just then there was the sound of something coming closer, and her attention was caught by that.
"Not her type? Not her type? Oh, I' show her her type," Kelele grumbled as he stalked in the direction that he smelled his cheetah charge. He had met a lovely lady serval, but she had flat-out rejected him. Ah, well, at least he had Nyofu. Speaking of which... what was she doing?
The serval's eyes widened as he spotted the male chetah, and he gave a yowl, bounding forward to skid in between Nyofu and the stranger, his fur fluffed up as he hissed angrily.
"Oh no - no no no no no no no, Nyofu! Males are bad! You can't talk to him. Come on, we're leaving right now! And you, mister," he said, narrowing his eyes. "You go away, right now! Leave Nyofu alone!"

Carles was proud of himself for such a clever solution for his friend. He would make this work for her. "It is my pleasure." He started to purr, but was cut short as an unfamiliar voice reached his pink ears. Oh, who could this be? Amusedly he watched as a serval entered the clearing. His eyes glanced to Nyofu's with a humorous look. Was this the familiar she'd mentioned before?
It appeared so as the serval immediantly got between himself and Nyofu; he lifted one of his front feet with a grin. His tail twitched as Kelele said males were bad. Carles lowered his head to the serval with a toothy grin, "well clearly then. She should remove you from her company as well, as you are clearly.... male." He did a slight pause before the last word to tease the serval.
"However, Nyofu is my guest here. It would be rude of her to just leave. Beside dear friend, I have not yet finished her gift. You wouldn't make her leave without now you?"

Nyofu rolled her eyes at Kelele - really, what was he doing complaining about Carles? A lion she could understand, but Carles was a perfectly nice cheetah! Why was he upset. She opened her mouth to apologize for the serval's actions, but closed it when she heard what Carles was saying to Kelele.
Apparently, he had it quite handled.
"You're a smart one," Kelele said irritably, his tail lashing back and forht. "I protect Nyofu, I'm a special case! You, on the other paw," he said, lifting one front paw and jabbing it at the larger male, "Are a threat. A threat and a cheat and you need to buzz off!"
He hissed again, irritated that the larger creature wasn't taking him seriously. With another yowl, he rounded on Carles and lept at his tail, biting down on the end of it.
"Go away!" he yelled, or tried to yell - it was rather muffled by the mouthful of fur he had.

Carles gave a laugh. "Why thank you little serval." He cocked his head with a playful grin as Kelele started to rant. The white cheetah gave a small wince as the end of his tail was offended by teeth. "Hey now, it seems like your the dangerous one." He wisked his tail away from the serval. With a great theatrical sigh, Carles heaved himself to his feet. "If I must, I must."
With a mischievious look in his eyes, he turned and gave a gentlemanly bow to Nyofu. "My lady would you care to accompany me? We shall wander off into the setting sun." He nodded to where the sun was half hidden by the land.

Nyofu giggled, nodded, and stood up. "But of course! Let's leave right away," she said, catching on the joke almost immediately. Though, to be honest... she wouldn't mind actually doing so. Not for a little while, at least... But she wasn't sure that was appropriate, so for now it was merely time to play along with the joke.
Kelele yowled and frizzed even more, trying vainly to actually inflict some kind of damage on the white and pink cheetah. "No! No you are not leaving with him Nyofu! No no no no no you can't trust him he'll just trick you and hurt you and - how dare you try to take my Nyofu away?!?"
The small serval was spitting mad, though really he wasn't physically capable of doing much about the situation.

Carles leaned close, and said loud enough for Kelele to hear, "I shall wisk you away and show you selcuded wonders all night." He pranced his paws to keep them out of the serval's reach. Maybe his teasing had worked too well, he thought ruefully to himself. It might be best to take his leave with Nyofu.
Moving quickly, he looked over his shoulder to be sure she was keeping up with him. "My appologies Nyofu. It seems I may have quiet upset your friend there." He gave her a grin of appology aswell. "Do you think he'll follow us?" Carles tried to run through his mind places he thought the serval might not find them.

Nyofu would happily follow Carles anywhere right at this moment, an she nodded happily. "Lead on, good sir," she said, biting back another giggle. Oooh, this would be so wonderful! She would make it up to Kelele later, she was sure. He would forgive her eventually - after all, she was only young once!
"Maybe? He's probably just going to sulk for a while, but it would be best to be careful," she said, just happy for this time and this adventure. She was fairly certain it was going to be a night to remember.
Kelele swiped at Carles again once more, before staring after the retreating cheetahs and plopping into a sitting position with a pout. "No, no, no, she can't be that grown up yet! She just can't be!" He scowled, deciding to settle down for a good long, emotionally self-indulgent sulking session.
He would sneak after them later and try to run that male off again.
If he could find them.
