It seemed as good of a day as any to go flying around. He was still in his humanoid form for now as he did some dips and dives now and then, and throwing in the occasional roll here and there. It wasn't too cool out so he was just taking his time, flying about.
Whenever he felt like he was done spending time in the sky, he went on to descend. There were no crazy gusts of winds to suddenly throw him off course and thus he managed to land pretty nicely.. without crashing into anyone.
As far as he knew, there wasn't really anyone too close to crash into nearby anyway.

Jericho would've been wrong in his guess that there was nobody around to crash into, because a short distance away there stood a familiar cat ghoul staring at what appeared to be a map of the grounds. "Alright... So I left the demon dorms and took a right... Then a left... Then.."
It was obvious she was having trouble by the raised eyebrow and how her clawed hands turned the map in every direction, as if she might've been looking at it upside down.
"That would mean I'm right... Here." As she spoke, her finger pointed... And ended up in the middle of a swamp. Nope... That wasn't it.
Okay, so she hadn't read a map before (or needed to use one in the first place). It wasn't her fault the damn thing made no sense!
Usually, Riyo was pretty observant when it came to her surroundings, but she was so engulfed in figuring how to read the jackin' map, the feel of another presence escaped her.. Until she looked up.
"... Oh." And there she'd been talking to herself. Her head snapped left and right to make sure nobody else had noticed and sighed. "Thanks for not flying into me this time."

Straightening up after his landing, Jericho soon realized that there was someone really close by. She must have been in a blind spot of his or something to that effect. But that wasn't what surprised him more, it was the fact that it was Riyo. Looking her over, he saw the skull pin on her cravat, so she had indeed gotten enrolled sometime between the festival and now.
"Yeah, no problem. No mutant wind bursts hit me," the dragon explained while looking at the paper in her hands. It looked like a map.
"You look a little lost. Just got enrolled recently?"

Mutant bursts? What the hell did that mean?
... It didn't matter.
"I'm not lost." Riyo pointed out defensively. "Just... Turned around." Yeah, turned around. Right. He was SURE to buy that.
"But yes, if you must know I arrived here a couple of days ago." The first day was spent moping about the fact that her things hadn't arrived. The second was screaming at the movers who had arrived late, and today she was getting a feel for where everything was on-campus. "So far it's been hell. Not that I expected any less."

The look on Jericho's face suggested that he wasn't very convinced with Riyo's first answer. Most likely, she really was lost. He glanced down at the map for a bit, then turned his attention back towards the feline student.
"Well that's unfortunate. Were you sent here against your will or something?" he asked with a raised brow. She certainly did not seem all that enthusiastic about being at the school, which suggested that she didn't want to be here in the first place. The dragon didn't know what her home life was like, but he supposed it was possible whoever was taking care of her was the one responsible for sending her to the school.

Had Riyo been thinking that would actually work? Who knows. Her face appeared unimpressed at the look Jericho gave her, folding her arms.
"Hah, of course not!" The mere thought of somebody forcing her to do something made the feline hold her nose up high. "I'm the only one who controls my life. I came here to better myself." Psch, somebody making her do something. The mere thought was preposterous anymore.
"I just knew I'd have to interact with people when I got here. That's why it's been hell.."

It seemed that someone here was getting all high and mighty, though Jericho was not at all very impressed with the display. Judging her wording, it seemed that she really did not like other people in general. Well, he supposed that would explain a fair bit of her general demeanor.
"Well.. better get used to it. As much as you might not like it, you can't get better without dealing with others," he said with a shrug, "Who knows, maybe you'll end up liking it."

As Jericho started preaching to her, Riyo's tail began swaying irritatedly behind her small frame. "I'm well aware of this." She said in a serious tone, eyes staring into the dragons.
"... But I doubt I'll ever enjoy it. We are all greedy creatures concerned with the wants and needs of ourselves.You come in contact with others because they have potential to fill those wants and needs. Mothers, fathers, children, friends.. They all fill some sort of niche... And when the want or need is satisfied..." They discard you. It was what she wanted to say, but they were words that just couldn't pass through her mouth.
For a brief second, there was a sadness tucked behind those pools of crimson. As if the words were just a sad truth she'd been unable to come to terms with, but with what seemed like the snap of a finger, the feline was back to her old self.
"I don't need companionship from people, anyways. I can take care of myself."

If there was anything he was getting from what Riyo was saying, it was that she was a pessimist to the extreme. A part of him had to wonder what the hell happened to get her to cause that sort of mentality. Shaking his head slowly, Jericho soon raised an eyebrow at the last thing she had said.
"I've heard that one before," he said. There was that time Riley had been saying some very similar things. It was partially the reason for why she wanted the mindwipe. There was much more to it, of course, but the root of it was partially in that mindflayers were not one to make friends or take companions... only underlings.
The dragon stretched his wings out, now that they were at rest for a bit after their use.
"Never said you couldn't take care of yourself in any case."

Heard that before? He said it as if he was unimpressed, which got under Riyo's skin.
"Yes, well..." He may not have said it, but she assumed everyone thought it. She always assumed the worst, after all. "If you don't mind, I'll be getting back to what I was doing." She mumbled, glancing over the map again... And forgetting where she had been. Ugh.

For a moment or so, Jericho eyed Riyo before giving a shrug. His gaze shifted to the map briefly as she had glanced down towards it.
"Sure thing. Well... if you need any pointers..." he started, more or less offering some help. The dragon was fairly convinced she had managed to get herself lost after all.

And there Riyo went on the defensive again. "I already said I don't need anybody." She said proudly...
Until she looked back down at the map and all the squiggly lines. So many squiggly lines...
"But... Um... If you're looking for company or something, I suppose I could tag along with you... I imagine we'd be going to the same place anyways." How bad was Riyo at asking for help? The answer was obvious. And she was too proud to admit it.

The defensiveness was getting on Jericho's nerves actually. He was trying to offer help in a way that wouldn't seem demeaning, at least that was what the thought, and she was getting all up in arms against him.
"Hey. If you don't need anyone, fine. But even the strongest people need help sometimes," the dragon said while turning away. He got what she was trying to allude with her hinting there, but he wasn't going to take that bait right now.
"You said yourself you don't need companionship so I'll just leave you be then," he shrugged.

Riyo watched as Jericho turned around, her ears folding back only when she was sure he couldn't see. "Yeah. You're right. I don't." She sighed, turning around as well so she could walk in the other direction.
Burying her face in the map, no one would be able to see the dejected look hidden just behind it.
... Which also meant that Riyo couldn't see.
A loud THUD came when the moping cat came in contact with the wall she hadn't realized was there. "Nn!" Was the only sound she made as the wall collided with her face, a little smear of blood now on the map from her nose. Oh great. As if she needed more nosebleeds...

Jericho really hadn't walked off too far before he heard the loud thud from somewhere behind. Turning around, he just saw Riyo facing a brick wall. What in the name of Jack?
He glanced around, but there wasn't anything else in the area that could have made that noise.
Now, he had the feeling she was lost, but that couldn't possibly mean she was so lost that she couldn't see where the walls were.
"You alright over there?" He called from where he was. On a normal basis, he might have tried to help out more, but given how she's reacted to his efforts thus far...
