If there was a guilty pleasure that Ume had, it was dressing not only herself in Lolita, it was dressing others. From the day she met him to the first time they tried to meet for a date, Daniel had been 'doomed' to one of these trips sooner or later.
She would never force him, but she'd ask. She'd sent the text early and asked if He would mind going with her to one of the few stores that specialized in victorian themed clothing. It was here she had found some of her finest laces, and many of the longer dresses that she had modified from pure victorian to a more lacy if dark lolita.
Would he meet her there, yes or no, they might go for coffee after, and she could show him how much better her hand was now, and her leg but...not in public. She wouldn't lift her skirt so far for anyone in public.

As new and potentially scary as it could be (his last girlfriend was... that there wasn't a last girlfriend. Could he really call it a girlfriend/boyfriend thing yet ? Oh dear...), Daniel would probably go to the north pole if Ume was involved.
He'd answered the text back quickly with an affirmative, just give him a few minutes... So he'd gotten dressed (lazy writer writing in his pjs ? Indeed.), printed out what he had so far, and then went to join her.
"Ume !" He smiled when he finally spotted her, walking his way to her. "I was working on this. I-I thought you might want to read it ?"
This occurred to Daniel that this was the first of his stories she'd get to read, and suddenly he was nervous. Should he have printed out something... well, not so work in progress ? Too late now, so he handed the stack over.
He'd been thinking of her while writing it, really... It was a bit of a darker fairytale twist to it.

Her eyes widened and her hands closed around the papers like he'd just handed her a first edition signed copy of the 'Never Ending Story'. "Oh yes! YES please!" She said earnestly "Thank you so much!!" She almost lunged forward to hug him.
"I Um... I wanted to take you to a clothing store I really like!" She said turning red as she finally released him. "It's um...... well they have things for guys too and I wasn't sure...but I thought it...if you didn't mind then I'd have your measurements too and..." She glanced up at him hopeful from deep crimson eyes.

Poor Daniel might have died on the spot if she'd launched herself at him in public. "I thought you might like it, so I r-really hope you will... But be truthful, okay ?" He said. "It's okay if you don't like it. I need to know that to get better."
Clothing store. This already was starting a little odd. "You think they'd have my size ?" Well, Daniel was tall and lanky. No use dancing around the issue.
As long as she didn't try to shove him in a dress, through... "Okay ! My measurements are... odd, through." Again - tall and lanky.

"Anything they don't have I can absolutely tailor if we find something you'll look well in...if you like it I mean!" She added hasty as she smoothed the fabric of her skirts out. "I tailor most of mine, either to...add things or remove them or just make them fit a little better." She blushed and carefully put the story into an small shoulder bag she carried, she found it adorable, it looked like a coffin.

"Ahhh, you can sew ?" He hadn't realized that. Did that make him a bad boyfriend ? asfdsfqwaDASFDSGFWESDFXC.
"I've tried to learn that one. T-That didn't end very well..." It ended with wrecked pants, a wrecked sewing machine, and a somewhat irritated mother.
Trainwreck had been, perhaps, the most accurate words for his sewing abilities.

She nodded and looked delighted and amused both. "it's not so bad.. it just takes work! I could teach you..." She tilted her head to one side, playful in a wave of dark hair and batting eyelashes.
She then spun on one boot toe to display the dress she wore. "I just...added lace and a little velvet to this one... I'm afraid I have a very soft spot for pretty laces." She admitted. "They have some beautiful hand made lace at the store...and these lovely long coats..."

He'd moved to take her hand without truly realizing he had - and when he did, he might as well have turned into a tomato.
Daniel - failing it up, but in a truly adorable way.
"It came out really nice..." Through... Lace ? On him ? He couldn't help but not be quite sure about this...

She squeezed his hand to re-assure him. "I won't make you wear anything you don't want to!" She promised. "And if I think you're going to do something catastrophic I promise to stop you." She paused worried. "are you alright?" She said softly...the worry that he might be scared of -her- was all too fresh.

"You...you don't have to do this you know... I won't..." She started to say and then stopped, and then slowly stopped walking again. "I won't... make you do anything if you're scared... if it... of me. If you don't want to do something... if you don't want to see me again." She said carefully.

But it was lying to say he wasn't scared. Not of her, not of his feelings, but of the situation. Monsters prowling the streets, those who fought them. Heroes, and yet normal teenager, much like he was.
First Chris, and then... Then her. He wasn't sure if he should feel safe... Or worried for them. He could not help but think that one day, he'd get a call that would tell him one of them was in the hospital...
Or perhaps worse... Dead.
He wasn't sure he could handle losing either his best friend or the woman he loved.
"Im afraid that one day you'll get hurt, and... T-There won't be anything I will be able to do about it. I feel... a little useless."

She reached up to brush fingers to his cheek, worry in her deep red eyes. "Oh...no, no no... never useless..." She whispered. "Never useless... I can't even say...I don't know the words to tell you how much it means to me that you know... that you're there. You give me reason to fight... I thought I was loosing that. I need that...I need YOU... I think we all do, we all need a reason because otherwise..." She whispered and stopped. "Otherwise we might just...fall." She murmured.

It was hard to put his own feelings into words, really. Things that he wanted to say but just... didn't want to come out, at all.
He didn't feel like she should be fighting. He didn't feel like any of this should be happening... All these crazy surnatural things. They were better left to fiction.
He managed to smile at her, when they stopped. "How far are we from your shop ?" He didn't want to see her sad... Especially because he was an idiot. She'd been so happy... and then...

"N... not far." She said hesitant, it wasn't hard to see that it was a change of subject. But she went with it, cautious and careful. They stood on shaky ground and amid tumultuous feelings, now was not the time to push anything too far or too hard.
