Zirconia always patrolled with a mission in mind. Find Birhan. Find a cadet. Find Valhalla. Spy on any number of civilians she knew. These were the common ones.
But tonight was dedicated to a special mission, one she had been working on ever since witnessing Valhalla's awakening. Finding knights, investigating knights, and interrogating knights.
So far she had located and interrogated Valhalla, Babylon, and Niflhel found her. Babylon also talked about Lina, but she had yet to see this one in person.
Still she had figured out this much: They all bore planet symbols of her senshi, which, she figured out eventually, were the same symbols of the White Moon's main senshi too. She had encountered all male knights so far, but Babylon said Lina had boobs so she figured they weren't exclusively male like her cavaliers.
And they felt like cavaliers. But not. Mutated, she had decided, and if starseeds were mutating she was on the case. Whatever the case may be.
So the fluffy cat was lurking around the city, watching, waiting, hoping a knight's energy signature would come into her grasp of sensory. Waiting to pounce on the first knightly head she saw.

Camelot was having one of those weeks, it seemed. He had been in over his head before, and it seemed that each passing night only made him drag further into whatever sink hole this state of being was.
He would call it a funk. But somehow, it felt like more than that.
In any case, tonight he was brawling with a surprisingly fast youma. It tackled him from a rooftop and he fell all the way down the three or four stories, it was hard to count when he was plummeting by them, to the ground below. He slammed into the sidewalk, and the youma leaped away immediately.
Off to do more bad things, hurt some innocent person, because Camelot hadn't been able to stop it.
He moaned and pushed himself up, grimacing and rubbing his sore back. Thankfully, he hadn't taken too bad a hit. The fall stung, but it seemed to be padded by his armor, maybe, and his increased power. At least it was good for something. Not killing youma, it seemed, not tonight. But keeping him from breaking all his bones?
At least there was that.
Sighing, he remained on the floor, closing his eyes and groaning miserably. He didn't notice the kitty he had landed in front of, near on top of.

Zirconia had to lift an eyebrow at her stroll being stopped because a knight landed right in front of her. Did he fall out of the sky? Gift of the fates?
Actually, she became aware of the fading youma signature and figured that probably had something to do with it. Still, she decided to skip the head pouncing and gingerly poke as his forehead with her paw instead.
"Are you still alive?" She asked, messing with a few strands of hair and then walking on top of him to zero in on the symbol of Earth on his belt. Servant of Earth, Gaia's equivalent. At least that made sense, in her way of trying to categorize how things worked.
But he still wasn't a cavalier, which she found mildly disappointing.
"Who are you, Earth-kitten?" She asked, turning around to sit on his chest and using her own made up name for earthborn humans with no senshi past lives. It was easier than White Earth Not-Senshi.

Camelot felt something light poking at his head and opened his eyes at length, looking around, half expecting to see a youma trying to mess with him. It wouldn't be the first time that night, after all, and he tensed.
Instead, he saw a furry little creature with her paw raised, though she moved soon enough. Staying on the ground, he lifted his head as she walked onto him, blinking a few times. Another one of those talking cats, though this one seemed different to the other one he had met.
He couldn't put his finger on how just yet, not as observant as he would like to be, sometimes.
"Kitten?" He didn't often get called names that meant 'young', unless she was being facetious. He smiled though, sitting up to rest on his elbows slightly, not pushing his chest too high to disrupt her ability to sit on him, though. He quickly discovered that it wasn't a very comfortable position, but he held it.
"My name is Camelot," he said, smiling. He believed all talking cats to be good, not knowing any better, so he certainly wasn't worried about her now that he had met another one before. "Page of Earth. Who are you?"

Zirconia was definitely not being facetious, but then, looks meant little to her in regards to age and humans she considered young by default, even when faced with the oldest knight she'd seen.
The serious guardian cat lowered her head to the point she was nearly nose to nose with Camelot before she jumped off, satisfied for the moment that he wasn't a shifty, weasly type she'd have to patronize and could have a civil conversation with.
She shifted all four paws beneath her new sitting place on the ground before she sat up straight as she could.
"Zirconia, Guardian Cat of the Black Moon," She gave the usual title with it's usual air of pride. "Are you injured?"

Camelot's eyes almost crossed as he watched the cat sitting on his chest, looking at her in wonder. He sat up once he was free, properly now.
"Oh, no, I'm not injured."
A little bit of his pride, maybe, but he hadn't hurt himself too badly. And even if he had broken seven bones it was unlikely that he would have said anything about it. He smiled and tilted his head.
"It's nice to meet you, Zirconia. I'm sorry I almost... uhm... fell on you. There was a youma, up there, and I... did not do a very good job of killing it. I'm probably going to have to hunt that thing down... I'd hate for someone to be hurt because I didn't manage to dust it."
He sighed. That was one of the biggest rules he had for himself: if a youma ran away, someone else would get hurt.

"Oh good," She said, though it seemed to be little more than just a formality. "It's fine, I was being stealthy," Coming out of any other mouth it might've seemed like a joke cluing in to self awareness, especially when it came to a cat this size, this fat, this fluffy and with a really conspicuous, winged collar. But nope, Zirconia was playing it dead straight. She really genuinely thought she was that sneaky.
"Oh," A dainty paw reached over and gave his knee ad weird little pat, "I'm sure you've distracted it enough for the night. It will probably be recalled at sunrise or perhaps meet it's end at someone else's hands now that it's been weakened," She said, trying to be reassuring.

Camelot didn't seem to mind too much that she wasn't actually falling over herself in concern for his well being. Mostly because he deserved to be hurt or embarrassed, as he had done a very poor job in that fight. He wouldn't be particularly impressed, either.
He looked at her, smiling at her joke about being stealthy but her kitty expression made him unsure. Had that been a joke?
"Yes, well, I suppose it comes naturally for cats, doesn't it? Stealth. Your paws are very... uhm... light."
He'd never been pat by a cat before.
"I hope you're right. I just don't want anyone else getting hurt, even if they are another senshi or knight and know how to fight... I know it's our duty to take care of these things, but I should have gotten that one. Oh well, I guess it's a learning process."
Camelot smiled and changed subjects.
"You must be well taken care of. Do you have an owner, like a pet might? I'm... sorry if that's insulting. I actually didn't think of it that way. Obviously you're not a... a pet." He frowned.

Zirconia listened to his small mention of his duty and gave a firm little nod, honestly please to meet someone who was on the ball about this duty thing. She could appreciate that, but she did wonder how a human his age was still learning about this basic stuff.
"Oh, I suppose I am," She mumbled, but she did frown at the pet reference. "I'm not a pet, I'm a guardian," She emphasized before her ears lowered back a bit. "And... she's passed away." True, Ares and Gaia were still running around, but Sailor Selene was her first and number one for so long, and it still stung quite a bit to say she was gone, even after a year.
She cleared her throat a little, trying to change the subject herself now. "Now, 'Knight'," She said, resting on her haunches so her front paws could come up and imitate finger quotes. "How long have you been awake? What do you remember? What is your association with the Prince of Earth?"

"I'm very sorry to hear that," Camelot said sincerely, looking sad. It made him wonder what Dogby would be like if anything happened to him. If Nathan would take care of her. If she would be sad. Of course, she was his pet, and Zirconia had just said she was not a pet.
Guardian cats were not pets, he would have to remember that. It was difficult, though.
His eyebrows lifted when she air quoted at him. Why was that necessary? He was a real knight! For the first time in his life, he was actually telling the truth when he said that or acted that way. He could protect people legitimately, and not just swing his cane at them, or maybe throw library books.
Though he could still do that too.
"I suppose it's been a little while since I've been awakened. I was on a roof. Ah. I don't... remember... what do you mean? I understand that some have... traveled. And they get memories from that but I... uh. Haven't. So I just know what I've learned so far."

"Traveled? What? You mean like... Hm," Zirconia looked to the ground beside her in though, ears lowering horizontally to the sides in irritation. Valhalla had Jupiter connections and Babylon had Mercury.
"Ugh, you guys don't make any sense!" Knights had no place in her understanding of the universe and she still couldn't understand what the hell they were doing existing. The nerve.
"Well then," This was getting them nowhere and only confused them both, so she stood up, kitty paws in a wide stance and suspicious eyes trained back on the knight. "What've you learned so far?" Nothing wrong with a little 'friendly' information sharing, right?

Camelot stared at her.
Weren't cats supposed to be nice? Well, no, they weren't. Cats were notoriously independent and aloof, and they did what they wanted, when they wanted to do it. That's what everyone who spent so much time talking to him about them at the library always said, anyway. But he didn't think they meant talking cats.
But he imagined it just made these personality issues even more pronounced, the ability to speak that is.
He smiled at her warmly, though, trying to remain as friendly as possible. She said she was a guardian cat and he had met one before. Of course, he didn't know he had met a corrupt one. Or that such things even existed.
"Well, I just spoke to one of your kind. I don't know if you speak to each other, but I told him most of what I know. I am a knight, and I am here to help end this war, but not fight for either side. I want to bring peace, and to stop the senseless killing and dying, and the waste of all these young lives I see getting dragged into this, on both sides of the fence. There are a few of us already, but we're still very new. I'm not sure if I've met every knight, of course, but from the reactions we get it doesn't seem too many people know about us."

Zirconia at least listened with a respectful facade, nodding here and there, but inwardly when he talked about the war, all she could think was 'oh great, a hippie.'
Not that she was especially fond of teenagers and children throwing themselves on the fire for causes they didn't seem to explicitly understand, but she had decided a long time ago that it was probably best not to think about that too hard when you were trying your best to keep an observational distance and focus on taking care of your own and not the world at large.
"No, we don't talk to each other. I think. I talk to *********, but she's not a him. So that probably wasn't her. I don't fit in on either side, though, since I am not a White Moon cat and don't have much of a taste for Chaos, so if the cats do share information, I'm a bit out of the loop."
"Well at least you're actually new and not something I missed," She harumphed

Camelot smiled thinly, but didn't want to mention that he wasn't sure how many knights there had been before him, or if it qualified as being new or missed. He didn't want to offend her with the idea that she could have missed something, as that seemed to be a big deal for her. He blushed a bit.
"Ah, well," he managed, arching his eyebrow.
Still, he had said the truth, as he knew it, and that was good enough. There were still many people who did not seem to know what he was, and that had to mean the faction itself was simply too new to be widely known.
The knight looked around, sighing.
"I suppose I should get back to patrol soon, though if you need a lift anywhere or... ah... uhm." He would carry her where ever she wanted to go? Something told him she would not like that, either. He smiled at the offer anyway.

"Oh, no," Zirconia shook her head at the offer for a lift. "You go on now, Kitten. Do your little knight thing," She said as she almost shooed him away with her paws.
Not that she was done with him.
She was simply waiting for him to get up and move along so she could (Clumsily) follow in her best attempt at stealth. To hop along walls and creep in the shadows and trip around obstacles she wasn't looking at, all to see this knight in action.
She still wasn't certain what they did. Valhalla and Babylon's trinkets were very silly, not very useful things. Camelot had a shield. She wondered what he did with that, beyond the obvious. If it was anything special or if there wasn't anything deeper to knights. He did get tossed around by a youma earlier, she remembered.
