It has been a long time since Sawa had wished to go exploring, though he never doubted that the urge would leave him forever. Indeed, today was the day he'd woken up and thought to himself, I need to explore! It didn't matter really how far he would explore, or how long. He just knew the world out there was full of amazing things, and he wanted to find them. He still wasn't sure where he was in respect to prides and all of that, he couldn't tell you which direction the firekins or the pridelands were in, hell he wasn't even sure he could name you the proper prides that were popping up all over.
He could tell you that the air seemed a little cooler, that it almost tasted salty. He could also tell you that the sun was shining something fierce! Ushafu, or Sawa as he often referred to himself as, did not really mind the heat, but his dark pelt often got the worst of the sun's rays. He had taken a short break under a rather ugly looking tree, but it did the job of providing shade. He must have been sitting there for five minutes already, just watching the savannah and the weird expanse of green off in the distance, which seemed to be some sort of tropical area from what he could make out. But a whole five minutes before he spotted the lion also in the distance. He frowned, head tilting a little.
Finally he got up and started to move for the body at a trot. The lion had not moved and he'd watched for a good five minutes or so more. Maybe he was just being paranoid, but it wouldn't be the first time he'd come upon some stranger dead from heat, lack of water or because they were a crappy hunter. "Hello?" He called ahead, frowning.

It had been such a nice day so why had everything suddenly gone so wrong? The waters had been calm, maybe too calm, that day as well so she had been exploring near the beach. Mainly she was looking for herbs and such that her mother, a mwani in the pride, would need for her work. But then because it had been getting so warm Talise had dug a small hole to place her findings in before taking a quick swim. Like a fish she had easily slipped into the water and was enjoying herself – that is until she realized how far out the waters had rolled. It was an odd thing and Talise couldn’t help but to look at the pale sand which was usually hidden underwater. What was going on?
Then the shadow came.
And with the shadow came the huge thunderous sound of the wave. Suddenly she was rising and fighting against the waves. For the waves which normally were so peaceful and friendly to her to turn in such a way made the young lioness panic. But she was useless against such a monster. Giving up Talise had let her body go limp and with a prayer to the gods allowed the wave to sweep her away.
After what felt like hours of struggle to stay afloat the lioness felt her body hit land. Her head connected with the damp sand and the lioness sank into darkness. But now something was calling out to her. In a weak attempt Talise made to move her head. All she saw was a dark blur, however, and while she tried to call back out to the blur the lioness only coughed out another lungful of water.

When he got closer to the lioness he felt foolish, wondering why he'd not seen the female sooner. She was such a bright blue with even brighter markings of white... colors you weren't going to see in the savannah often. Sawa always thought of himself as being a really dark colored lion, despite the bright flash of red fur that draped his back as if it were a cloak. And his eyes. Some lions said his eyes were unnerving, that they had no right being so brightly colored when his face was pitch black.
But as he called he saw the lioness struggle to stir, and it gave him heart. He was leaning rather close to her, having fully gotten to the body, when she suddenly coughed and water hit him in the face. He jerked his head back, groaning slightly from the thought of another's water now sprinkled across his dark fur. Little gems of water and saliva. He tried not to focus on it though, instead he leaned out with a paw and gingerly touched at the lioness's upper body. "Can yeh hear me?" He wasn't sure what he could do for her if she couldn't, and it seemed like she was like this due to water. Had she almost drowned?
He frowned and his gaze shifted off of her, his paw hanging in the air. There seemed no immediate source of water around, but sure enough this lioness must have had a foul run-in with it. Unless he'd found a particularly daft female who'd somehow managed to swallow too much from a puddle. The pure insanity of the thought was cause enough for laughter, but he held his tongue as his gaze shifted back down to her. "Get'tup now, girl." He growled out, though his tone was laced with fear and worry. It wouldn't do to have the lioness die, especially after she'd been found alive. That would be unlucky!

Coughing Talise managed to nod towards the voice. Her vision was still blurry and the lioness found each new breath painful to her body. She reasoned that she must have at least a million bruises by now, more likely a broken rib or two even. Maybe even three. What had hit her so hard? The memories made her jump – at least she attempted to before her weary body flopped back down to the ground with a soft thud-. The ocean! Her home! Where was she? Where was everyone else? She groaned. Maybe she was dead and this was a spirit to take her the rest of the way, but no her body hurt way too much for her to be a spirit. Then again she had to pause as she caught sight of his eyes. They were really brilliant. She had never seen eyes such a beautiful color of blue. Maybe...she was dead?
She frowned as she made out the words the blur was speaking, “Tr-Tryin’ too.” She whispered pushing against the ground once more. This time though her wobbly legs managed to get her upright before she fell against the solid shape. If she was worried before about the blur with brilliant eyes being a spirit she wasn’t anymore. He was definitely real. Real and warm. Suddenly her body realized it was completely soaked to the bone and she was shivering. “S-s-sorry.” She stuttered quietly before trying to move away. Yet her wobbling legs failed her again and the young lioness found herself leaning right back against the other lion.

Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to be demanding things of the lioness just right now, she seemed to be in a really delicate state. But it seemed to be helpful, because she slowly moved up. Which was better than letting her body lay there limp, it must have been. But when she finally got up she swayed and he felt her slump into him almost immediately. She was soaking wet! And cold too, generally an unpleasant match when it came to things to cuddle. His instinct was to shover her off, but he quickly reminded himself that this lioness was hurt and in bad circumstances. And very pretty, very pretty indeed.
"Bah, don' be silly. We needa get yeh dried off, yeah?" He shifted just slightly, so that she might be more comfortable with the weird position she'd been put in. Sawa didn't really mind, in fact he was quite enjoying playing the role of hero. And who knew, maybe he'd get a reward? That fluffed his mane right up. "Why are yeh so wet girl? Doesn' look like theres any swimmin'oles bout these parts." Not that he'd understand why anyone would go swimming for any reason period, no matter how hot it got outside.
