Lungs filled with the intake of salty air before the male breathed out, sounding more like a bored sigh than a breath of relief. It mattered not that the weather was perfect, or that the sea laid before him in clean waves, or even that he had just had a filling meal. Not to Soul. None of it could ever compare to his anger that simmered just beneath his fur. And to think, there was no one here to take his frustrations out on. Then again, Soul would rather he not meet any others while in his current state....God knows what it would do to his pride. And so the dark stallion continued pouting on the shore, his frown set deep in his skin and his eyes furrowed darkly, before boredom finally compelled the stallion to move. With a heavy stagger to his left side, Soul-Lexis paced along the beach without a care in the world. Even the seagulls didn't bother to flee as the male marched passed them, mud coating his fetlocks to mimic his heavy mood.

The young mare stood rigid at the edge of the forest where the grass met the sand. Her pure white ears flicked backwards then forwards. She was new to this mothering thing and she didn't understand what she was supposed to do with this little black, white, and crimson basket that lay close to her legs. A soft snort escaped the mare as she glared around quickly.
Of course, she was on edge. She was not ready for this new title. 'Mother.' A low growl escaped the mare as the spade of her tail tapped against the top of the basket. Suddenly, in what seemed to be less than a second, the mare's attitude completely changed. This was her baby and she loved it to the fullest. Slowly, she pulled the basket close to her body and she gently nuzzled it. "Don't worry, little one, I will find us some food." Suddenly, the mare caught the scent of another soquili. Her ears pinned against her skull as she quickly glanced around.

Sand puffed and fell heavily as the stallion made a path along the beach, his aim random and washed away by the frequent high waves. This meaningless travel would have continued on had not a scent in the breeze alerted him. There was another soquili within the area, and Soul was in too sour a mood to bother with any type or anyone to be nearby.
Flaring a wing just above his skin, the Kalona sneered as he looked along the tree line for the trespasser. it didn't take long to spot the mess of white canvas against the brown and green trees. Not that mare again. One encounter had been enough to know that she was no fun to tease or share company with. Besides that, he'd rather the other not see him with such a gimp wing at the moment. Snorting loudly, Soul made it clear he had no intention of crossing paths with the other. With chin lifted and steps firm, the male continued on his way along the beach and took extra care keeping his wings folded along his sides.

When Morana caught sight of the other soquili, she snarled and watched his movements closely. Her pure white eyes focusing on his shoulders then up towards his face. He was familiar, but she still didn't trust him. Not while she was with her basket, anyways. With a low growl, Morana glanced down at the basket. Did she hide it in a bush and hope for the beast not to find it, or did she keep it close to her body but risk him seeing it.
A smile spread on her maw as she used her tail to pull the basket underneath her. It would be best, she assumed, if she kept it as close to her as possible. She didn't want something running off with her baby after all. She watched as the male seemed to have no interest in annoying her. Good. Morana thought to herself. Usually she was one to start a conversation, but for today, she only wanted to keep the basket safe. She slowly looked away from the stallion, her ears flicking forward, towards the sounds of the waves, then back, towards the sounds of little critters rummaging through bushes. They wouldn't satisfy her growling stomach... She needed to find a deer or something, but how could she while she had to watch this basket?

Good, the mare wasn't as blind as her eyes could lead one to believe. She took his hint without pause and Soul could only snort his approval at the other. Kalona kindred or not, she was still a mare that ranked highly on his annoyance scale. But that was a fact already made known and the stallion could ponder on it no longer, not when a swell of cold water washed up on the shore and reached well up his limbs.
With spine shivering and tail raised against the sudden chill, the Kalona cursed lowly at the body of water as it swept away and left him a sogging mess. His fur may have been short, but that only helped the air to freeze it all the more easily. Hiw wings were held together tightly and at an upward angle, almost like a wire hanger that had been battered out of shape. He went to raise them even more, but pinched his face in pained anger as he realized the salt had reached his feathered shoulder. His feathers were at a high gloss now, both mingled with the ocean water and leftover blood dripping now with the sting of salt. Taking his tail tip and smearing red away from his leg, he stomped his way back to the dry edges of the beach with grumbles escaping his mouth. Something about 'idiots' and 'elderly nutcase', among other 'jokes' .

It could be assumed that the water was a tad chilly from the stallion's reaction. Morana couldn't help but grin as the stallion seemed to dance away from the cold water. That was the least of what the male deserved for attempting to torment others, much like herself. She knew the stallion was no threat at the moment, his mind seemed to be on other things... like the pain he seemed to be having.
A vicious smile curled on the mare's lips as her tail curled and lashed about wildly. "What have we here?" She asked herself softly as she giggled softly to herself. It seemed as though the stallion had some pain in either one of his legs or his wings. Suddenly, it was like a slap to the face when the scent of blood drifted over to the mare. An insane look glazed over her pure white eyes as she stepped out from where she was observing. Quickly, she flicked a wing at his grumbles as her tail pulled her basket along with her. "You seem injured, male...." Her white eyes drifted over his dark form, even though it was difficult for him to tell. She was observing as she suddenly began to smile ever so sweetly at the large male.

With the buzzing roar of the waves behind, it took some time before Soul realized that the other Kalona had shifted positions. Her steps were silently placed and it was only in the corner of his eye that he noticed her motions. Like a white python among the bushes, she lurked and watched in a way that left Soul bristling. For being such an aloof mare, she sure knew how to hang around in such an annoying manner.
His mouth sneering as she spoke her mind, the male didn't bother giving her the respect of a full glance. As he still shuffled along the beach, his tail flicked out to splatter heavy mud in the direction of the other...even if she was too far to reach. "You seem injured, male. Boo hoo." Soul slid his glowing eyes at the other, the sneer still on his face. His voice was laced with poisonous sarcasm. "Thank you for stating the obvious, what would I ever do without my lovely pet?" And before he could mock her further, the tide began to flush back up the sand. Pinning his ears back and forced to shut up for the moment, the stallion skittered up the beach to higher and dryer sands. It was this rush and his own temper that kept him from yet noticing the wicker object beside the mare.

The male's sarcasm was dearly noted. Morana's once cold stare softened as a chuckle escaped from the mare. Her white eyes followed the stallion scampering up the beach like a young filly would to avoid the water's grasp. It was obvious that the salt in the water would sting any open would the male had. With a now thrashing tail, the mare studied the tri colored stallion's movements very closely. Although the brute may have been injured, there was no guessing as to whether or not the stallion would lash out at the smaller mare.
Her softened features began to wrinkle and distort slightly as a snarl formed on her white muzzle from the male giving her the title of being 'his pet'. Stamping a white hoof, Morana peered out at the male from beneath the white bangs that fell over her face. She was by no means anyone's pet and simply being called such a thing only caused her blood to boil. Quickly, however, the mare shook her head and forced the thoughts away. That was not a battle she wanted to risk at the moment... "Tut, tut male." The name in which she called him she spat out as though it were coated in poison, "Weren't you the one who told me to learn to relax? Now here you are behaving in the same vile manner." Grinning at the male, the mare made note of his posture and expressions. How much could she push and prod the male? The bigger question faced was whether or not she would dare to bother him.

Thankfully, the crash of the tide had drowned out the sound of the mare's chuckle. If it had been caught by the stallion, he would have never let her live it down, taunting her to be nothing more than a lass playing a game of emo mood swings. Not that it would stop him from still making such commentary, but the evidence of humor from the mare would forever be lost to Soul's teasings. At the moment, he had more pressing matters to attend to.
Taking exaggerated steps to harshly shake the mud from his fetlocks, the Kalona stallion made his way up the beach to softer sands. Once he was clear of the tide's range, he sent a furrowed glance at the pale mare While the sand had buffered her stomp, the temper behind the motion was easy enough to read as she locked her leg. Always the feisty one, that mare. An ear twitched forward as she spoke. Ouch, how she had speared him with his own words! Soul barked a laugh before shutting up, snirking as it had jostled his shoulder to ache. "Oh, is being vile now the same thing as being tense? But you should know that answer best, right Morana?" If he recalled correctly, the individual before him was indeed strong but always held back by some inner conflict. And whether it stemmed from from some dark history or simply her tainted Unicorn blood, he couldn't be certain. He peeled out his wings in a casual pose, almost like a human shrug with palms passively upward. Still, his serpentine smirk remained. "Us Kalona are capable of being civilized, are we not?"
