Epimetheus was scouting some terrain for his next trick. His brothers were getting wise to his clever little pits hidden with old grass or debris from the forest. He needed something new...
His mask slipped a little further down his neck as he craned his head to stare up at a tree. Hmmm, that had potential. It was an unfortunate habit of most not to look up when checking an area, and he'd used this tactic before once or twice in hunting or scout missions. Unfortunately the trees here were sparse and tall, a bit too wide with few lower branches for him to climb. His sleeves would probably get in the way if he tried too.
Epimetheus sighed. Such a shame, it would have been nice to pull off an aerial prank of some kind. His brothers might even believe him when he denied it too, since they also knew how hard it was to climb the trees here.

Tahnia smiled as she made her way across the soft grass and through the forest. She had been flying for a wile and she had decided to give her wings some rest. She had landed in the small field on the edge of the forest a wile ago to give her tired wings some rest. Since leaving the comfort of her home to find her own way she found it much harder on her own then with her family. Stopping for a moment she took a look around and couldn't help but awe at the sight. The forest was healthy with grass and flowers... and something else.
Out of the corner of her eye she noticed something white. When she turned her head she could make something out in the distance. Another fox maybe? She couldn't tell unless she got closer. The only thing was... should she risk it? The last time she went to check on something she came face to face with a Deava. Not one of her best days.

Ephimetheus was still staring at the problem of the tree and was quite unaware he had an audience. He had just made the choice that he was going to at least try to climb the tree, and was circling his choice to pick the best starting point.
He picked a spot and stared upwards, feeling his heartbeat speed up in nervousness and flexing his white claws into the earth. "Well, here goes nothing," he said to himself. Epimetheus made himself stand, and place his front paws on the trunk. He carefully shook back his sleeves, then dug his claws into the wood and proceeded to try to haul himself upward.

Blinking she couldn't help but stop and watch the fox. What was he doing? He wasn't really thinking about climbing that tree was he? There was no way he would be able to do it... the trunk was too think. Even she could see that. She tilted her head to the side as she watched him try to make his way up the tree. She couldn't help but walk over and raise and eyebrow.
"Are you seriously trying to climb that tree?" She asked surprised at how determined he looked.

Epimetheus yelped (a manly yelp, of course) and fell. Thankfully he wasn't more than three feet off the ground, so the fall just ended in his dignity getting hurt instead of flesh.
With his mask half over his face in a skewed position and his sleeves tangled, he cast a stern look up at the...female? Yea, looked like a female Phim. Cast a stern look at the female Phim. "Bad manners miss, you shouldn't go sneaking up on others in the middle of very delicate business."
Of course he wasn't really mad a the female, so much as intensely embarassed at being caught doing something that probably looked dumb before falling and definetly looking dumb.

She watched him yelp then fall. She hadn't meant to startle him so bad that he fell. She was just curious at how he planned to get up the tree. She had no idea she would startle him so bad. She walked over to the male and looked down at him.
"Sorry... I didn't mean to startle you... but you know... climbing a tree... really isn't delicate business...." She looked up at the tree then back down at him. "And its bigger then you anyway... how did you plan on getting up there?"

Ep snorted. "Well the perk of being a tree is that you're bigger than just about everything except mountains," he shot back, surprise and embarassment making him a bit less charitable in his use of sarcasam. "And it doesn't sound delicate, but climbing these kind of trees is a delicate operation. Before each move I have to make sure my body weight is shifted just so, that my other three paws are supporting my weight properly, and that I dig my claws into the bark just far enough to hold me but not so far that I'm gouging the tree unnecessarily."
And all of this probably wasn't impressing the lady, since he was still on his back with his feet in the air like a goofball. Ep rolled over then pushed himself up, shaking leaves and twigs out of his fur and tapping his mask into a more comfortable position around his neck. "Anyway, apology accepted," he said, feeling a bit more charitable now that he was in a more dignified stance. "Name's Epimetheus. Shorten it however you want, it's a real mouthful on it's own."

Tahnia comically glared at the male. He was being rather defensive. She didn't mean anything bad by it. She was just wondering why he was intent on getting up into a tree. She wasn't a fool. She knew how to climb a tree. Not that she needed too considering she had wings that would easily get her up there.
"Well I wasn't insulting you or anything by what I said and Im not an idiot. I know how to climb a tree. I was just pointing out that it looked odd from where I was cause the tree is just about three times bigger then you." She looked away.

"Let the records show that you brought up the word "idiot" first," Ep said, raising an eyebrow. This female seemed just a bit touchy. That or she just didn't have as great a sense of humor as your average, steriotypical Phim. "Not to mention, being a normal, all trees are at least three times bigger than me. You know, excluding sapplings and hair-splitting," he tacked on to the end.
"Anyway, the point of climbing was because it looks so impossible for someone like myself to get up there," Ep said cryptically. Though now that the female brought it up, he was kinda ill-prepared for even doing anything if he made it to the branches above. Huh, maybe it was a good thing he fell now instead of later, save him from having to make multiple trips. Now that woulda sucked!

"Only because you made it sound like I didn't know what you were talking about." She pointed out. "Which is why I was wondering why you were climbing it." She looked at the tree. "It being three times bigger then you is dangerous." She looked back at him. "So you were climbing it just because its impossible?" She raised an eyebrow. "That seems kinda... dangerous... don't you think? What would haven happened if you had fallen half way up? or worse... from the top? And once you reach the top... how do you plan on getting down?"

Ep shrugged. "Hmmmm, I'm reckless confident enough in my abilities to know whether or not I'd have the strength to make it to the top of the tree before I reached a danger zone. As for getting down, I can be remarkably creative when I want." He shrugged again. "And who said it was just to see if I could? There was actually a point, even if I didn't reveal it to you."

Wow this guys was really something. She raised her eyebrow as she listen to him. He was that confident? Well she had to admit... he had some guts. She never thought she would come across someone like him in this forest. Not to mention he was pretty sure of himself. It made her want to stick around and learn more for this guy.
"Your seem... pretty sure of yourself don't you..." She tilted her head to the side. "I haven't meat many regular foxes like you before..." She sat down. "Mind if I watch you climb it? Im interested to see you make it to the top..."

Ep sighed. "I'd rather you didn't. For one thing you're a stranger still, and I can't be one hundred percent sure of your intentions or reactions. For another you're a very pretty girl, and like any male I'm prone to trying to show off. I don't think I'd be at my best, and a tree like this demands my best."
Ep stared up at the tree regretfully. Shame, but he supposed he'd have to leave it for another day. Ah well, probably for the better. He looked back at the female. "Sorry to disappoint, maybe some other time though."
((Tahnia still hasn't told him her name XD ))

"Well I wouldn't be a stranger if you would bother to ask my name..." She sat there tiling her head. "You cant really know ones name unless you ask them... now can you?" She then blushed when he said she was pretty. She hadn't been expecting that. They had just met and he was telling her she was pretty? "Thank you? I suppose... Oh... well in that case... if climbing this tree means so much to you I can go." She turned. "I was just wondering why you were trying to climb a tree that looked impossible to climb..."

Ep shrugged. "Well you could have always introduced yourself as well," he said. "I did." He tilted his head, mask lightly swinging from it's cord, grinning in a subtle yet mischievous way. "Not too hard to do, I promise."
He straightened up from his surge of mischief, tilting his head. "Anyway, don't you ever get the urge to do things that make total and complete sense to you, but others often look at you in confusion or wonder why the heck you're even bothering with something that seems to have no point to them?"
