. On the Surface . [ Full name ] : Kainer Rudolph Wulfe[ Nickname ] : Kai. And he'll hurt you if you call him anything else.[ Gender ] : Male[ Age ] : 20[ Race ] : Human [ Appearance ] : Kainer, or rather, Kai, is a fairly well toned individual. From his life with his dogs, and his outdoors-man pastimes, he has not an ounce of fat on his body. His muscles, however, are not bulging. He is lean, and long, both in height and leg length. Standing at 6'3, most of his height comes from his rather shapely legs, which are the envy of his sister.
He's not proud of that fact, though he does enjoy taunting her with them.
He has long, dark hair, usually pulled back into a ponytail. When it's loose, it spills around his shoulders, reaching about his mid-back. His mother wishes that he'd cut it, but he stubbornly refuses. A charming grin, and dimples to match, he has an undeniable boyish charm, if a bit rough. His eyes are a piercing blue, and he has a very angular face, something he inherits from his father. His skin is a natural tan, and his clothing seems to follow the same color scheme. Brown, brown, and more brown, the little bit of alternative in his wardrobe is either a darker brown, or black. He owns about two pairs of blue jeans. [ Sexuality ] : Straight. In the Middle . [ Social status ] : Kai lives in an apartment owned by a slightly crazy old lady. He's friendly, and people like him; however, his popularity doesn't help the fact that he's fairly poor. Most of the money he makes goes to feeding his dogs.[ Area of Residence ] : Tallenpoint[ Birthplace ] : Raeville. Core . [ Personality ] : Kai's greatest and largest quality is, by far, his extreme loyalty. Even when he knows they have done something wrong, he will defend a friend or loved one until he falls over dead, and if he could, he would probably defend them even beyond that. He is also remarkably patient when it comes to waiting for things he wants; though some call that determination, especially since he is not often patient with anything else. Always moving, and quickly too, Kai gets stuff done as quickly as possible so he can move onto the next thing he has to do.
Serious, he is focused on what he wants from life. A big family, the dogs running around the yard, children... He is very much into the 'family' thing. [ Likes ] :

His temper - it often gets the better of him, when people he loves getting hurt is concerned.
He is also terrified of fire, and things catching on fire.[ Strengths ] :
Speed - Kai can run very, very fast [ Abilities ] :
His strength is also his natural ability; Kai can run fast, fast enough to be in the Olympics, though he will never go anywhere with this skill. Mostly, he uses it to keep up with his dogs. [ History ] : Kai grew up in the countryside, in a big family. His family owned a ranch, and since it was a family run business, the whole family ran it. And, by the whole family, we do mean the whole family. His Aunt and Uncle lived in a cottage with their four children, his mother, father, four brothers, and one sister lived in the main house's basement, the attic to his bachelor uncle, and the ground floor a communal area, except that his grandparents lived there, mainly. So, for most of his life, he was surrounded by people. Many people said he had no shortage of friends in his family, and they were right - but that didn't stop him from making friends with many other boys (and a few girls) from the school his parents sent him to about an hour away from their home. In particular, he befriended two boys; Gregory, and Heath. They were all but inseparable, and forced to part when it was time to go home. He gladly invited them to his house, however, and the three were like brothers.
He was with them when it happened.
They'd been playing at the lake, about a ten minute walk from Kai's house, when Heath noticed smoke coming from where the house was. Kai broke into a run and left his friends in the dust, desperate to get home and see if everyone was okay.
They weren't.
The barn was on fire, his Uncle was trampled by the panicked cows, and many of the children were nowhere to be seen. The fire was spreading to the house, and he rushed inside to get the phone to call the fire department. They had already sent his sister and his mother to the neighbours, twenty minutes away by car, but he knew someone had to call them faster than that.
He got the phone - but he also got trapped, when a beam from the ceiling fell in front of the door. And he wasn't the only one. His grandfather was inside, with two of his youngest cousins, trying to break down the back door to get outside. Between the two of them, they were able to batter it down - but by the time the fire men got there, it was too late.
Two of his cousins, whom he thought he had helped to save from the burning house, died of smoke inhalation. Another burned in the barn, with his father, unable to drag the crippled man out, and unable to escape the frantic horses on his own. The last was kicked in the head by one of the cows, and died in the hospital two days later. His Aunt took her own life, and his remaining Uncle succumbed to infection from an injury he received while escaping his attic bedroom.
They never found his father's body.
His grandfather died less than a week later from a heart attack, and his grandmother, always one to take her heart medication, abruptly stopped doing so. She died two days after his grandfather.
Kai, his sister, and his mother were able to bury all but his father - and although much of the ranch was salvageable, in terms of re-starting, none of them had the heart. It was too much like a graveyard for them. They sold what was left, and with that, the ranch's insurance, and the life insurance from everyone else, they moved away.
Kai kept in touch with his friends, driving out to see them when he and what was left of his family finally got set up, far away from the scene of the disaster. Eventually, when he was sure his mother and sister weren't about to burst into flames, he moved into the city near his old home - Tallenpoint. He managed to find a little apartment above a dry cleaner's, and set up a little home for himself there, helping out his diminutive Land Lady and working as a postman. He quit that job when some angry husband decided he'd been sleeping with his wife (Which he hadn't been) and chased him off their property with the leg of a chair.
He often took long walks through the park - and it was in this park that he met his pack. There had been reports on the news of cruel bear traps being set around the city, and although he had heard of them, Kai didn't expect to see one in such a public place. And he certainly didn't expect to find a pack of dogs, either.
One of them was trapped by the cruel device, it's leg mangled from trying to escape, and fraught with infection. The other two refused to leave him, the female far too pregnant to move, and the last male violently protective of his companions. He knew they needed help. The angry male was ill, his eyes oozing and infected, a wound on his own back leg from what looked like yet another bear trap. They were all far too thin, even the pregnant one - he was afraid the pups would not survive.
He had always had a soft spot for animals, and a skill for calming them. He's still not sure how he managed it, but he got Chief, the angry one, to calm down and let him near enough to Bo to set his leg free with a stick and a trick his Uncle had once taught him. He didn't have a truck, or a car, so he called Heath and asked to borrow his. He lured them up with food, and treats, and brought them to his apartment building. He convinced the landlady to let him keep them in the shed, and nursed them back to health. Originally, he had promised to place them in other homes once they were all better - but Mistress, the female, gave birth while in the shed, and as soon as the landlady saw the puppies, she fell in love with them. The dogs were allowed to stay - and Kai was strangely glad. They were like his rag tag family. And he refused to lose ANY of this one. . Relationships . Arya Misaki :: Mrs. Misaki is Kai's elderly, and somewhat insane, landlady. He cares for her, since her own children do not, and is pretty close to the diminutive woman. The Pack :: Chief, Mistress, and Bo lead this ragtag pack, as the oldest of them all, and Patch, Dolly, Sev, and Stu are the rolly polly puppies of the group. All of these dogs look to Kai as their 'Alpha Male'. Or, so says the Vet. Much like a baby bird could imprint on a human, these dogs have 'imprinted' upon him. He cares for them more than anything else in his life, and most of his time is devoted to them. Megg :: Kai has just recently met the blue eyed girl, but he does enjoy her company. Plus, she's cute; which isn't too bad of a bonus.
