Against a backdrop of dull, boring colors, a brightly and cheerfully colored fox was climbing. Paw over paw, jump after jump, the female made her way up the wall of rocks. The fox loved doing activities such as this. The thrill of something new, something potentially dangerous. Sure she had a couple close scrapes; but nothing serious yet. Only reason why she kept climbing walls, jumping off cliffs, such like that. The tye-dye fox sat on a rock large enough to hold her weight and not fall. She turned to look down at the distance she climbed, humming to herself.

A bluish fox strectched out from his napping spot. Might as well start the day. With a grunt he got up and started heading toward the cliffs, where his favorite berry bush happened to grow. He heard some faint humming and look around. Nothing. Then he looked up, only to see that crazy tye-dyed Vixen."Psyche!! What are you doing up there! Get down before you fall!" His stuby little tail twitched as he eyed her from the ground.

"Drat," muttered Psyche. She hadn't realized Rui might catch her doing this. Psyche hadn't really been staying close to Rui so there had been no need for her to suspect that she would be caught. Her tail jerked about as she looked down at Rui. He was always like that with her. Maybe that's why she hung out with him, the fact that she had no father of her own. Rui never turned her away and seemed to like being an adoptive father of sorts. While it irked Psyche, like today, she didn't mind as much anymore. Not when Rui was the reason she hadn't been hurt or killed. With a sigh Psyche got up and started making her way down the rock wall. "Ruuuii~, you're taking away all my fun agian."

"You can have all the fun you want... As long as its on the ground." He watched Psyche make her way down, at least if she fell he would be there to catch her. Rui would relax a bit once all four paws were safely on the ground. He moved a few sharp looking rock away from where she would land, better safe then sorry.

Psyche landed on the ground next to Rui, tail high in the air to show her displeasure. "You always ruin my fun Rui. Why can't I do something like that without you being overprotective?" Okay. Perhaps a slight exaggeration. There were times when Psyche would be off doing something dangerous without Rui there to stop her. Most of the time though, he always showed up. "And it's not like I haven't done this before." She pouted. "I knew my way up there." It wasn't like she was a kit anymore either. She didn't need babying.

Rui snorted at the girl. "Fine then, if you don't want me here. Ok. I'm gone. I won't be in you way anymore." He was rather tired of her complaining. All he was trying to do was protect her. "You're all grown up now, You don't need me any how." And she didn't. Rui did feel a little bad for snipping at Psyche, but if she wanted to go and spread her wings, let her. With that Rui, turned, flicked his tail and left toward his cave.

With a huff, Psyche sat down at the ground and looked up at the wall she had just come down off of. "Mood killer," she muttered. She turned her head at the direction Rui went and stuck out her tongue. "Maybe one of these days you'll actually mean it old man." It was always the same: Psyche did something. Rui came to tell her no. They have a similar conversation like what just transpired which usually ends up with Rui saying something like he did or Psyche stalking off. Psyche sighed. Maybe one day things would be different.

Kylar had been watching the entire exhange from his spot in a nearby tree. First the female climbing up the cliff, the parental scolding of the male fox that had caught her at it, and the subsequent argument that had sounded like it had been gone over many, many times. Kyler did wonder why the older male seemed quite so protective when the female was obviously a good climber, but then parent's didn't always make sense, did they?
Slipping from the tree, Kylar made his presence know with a few rustles of the surrounding brush before pooping out. He didn't want to startle her too much, after all. "Hey." He said to the rainbow vixen.

Psyche raised her head as she heard something rustle nearby. Was it Rui coming back to lecture her again? Or something else. She stood and turned towards the sound when another fox appeared. Psyche wondered how much the mostly purple and white male had seen or heard of the exchange between Rui and herself. "Hey yourself." She tilted her head slightly, trying to figure out if there was anyone else out there. "What can I do for you?"

Kylar gave the female a smile patently designed to show foxes he meant them no harm, since he didn't mean her harm, and stayed far enough back to make sure he didn't seem threatening. "Do? Nothing much. I just wanted to say that it was rather impressive how far up the cliff you got, though your...friend didn't seem to like it." He said, putting a questioning emphisis on the word 'friend'.

Psyche gave a nervous laugh. "So you did see all that. I'm sorry you had to." She looked briefly at the direction Rui went before looking back at the male. "Thank you though." She sighed. "Sadly, my friend tends to take his role of 'adoptive' father quite seriously. No matter where I go he always finds me and puts a stop to any activity I'm doing that he deems dangerous." Which tended to be most of them. "Even though I'm not a kit anymore, he doesn't seem to grasp that." Her mouth took an 'o' shape and she shook her head. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to lay that all at you without even knowing you. I'm Psyche."

Kylar waved a paw negligently through the air. "Don't worry about it. I have a dad too." He explained, though usually the conversations were reversed. Kylar had always been lecturing his father on how insane the older fox acted. "Parents have a hard time letting go of their habits."
Kylar tilted his head thoughtfully. "What else do you like to do for fun?"

Psyche laughed. "I think it might be worse if we were actually related by blood." She blinked in surprise. That was a first. No one else usually took interest in what she liked to do. "Uhm...I like jumping from high places into water. Climbing tall objects. Exploring caves. Anything that has a sense of adventure or thrill to it really." She smiled at the fox. "What about you?" Psyche frowned. What was he doing out here anyways? Just passing through or..."Sorry, were you going somewhere?" She would shut up if he did have other things to do.

"Nah, I'm just out for a walk." Kylar said in response to her last question while he tried to figure out how to answer the first few. "Cliff jumping is fun. I definitley like exploring caves, and old, broken down human dwellings." He looked at the tie-die vixen wondering if he should say he liked to steal. "I...like other things too."

Psyche looked at the male in wonder. "Human dwellings?" That was one adventure she hadn't done yet. "Were there many cool things in them?" At least now that she knew he was simply walking she didn't have to feel bad for detaining him. They could part ways at anytime as well. "I bet there were neat and interesting stuff in them." And the thrill! To walk through a place like that, where normally she would not go. To imagine what it might be like living there.
