It was early morning. The land was dusted with a bright, golden hue of the rising sun. Most animals of the Savannah were probably still asleep. One most certainly wasn't. No, Tasunke was far from awake. In fact, he'd been awake for some time, and was just returning from his morning run. The cheetah liked to exercise, to challenge himself, to keep his speed and endurance up, just in case someone came along who challenged him to a race. Not that anyone ever did. The cheetah seemed to be obsessed with racing, convinced that he was to be the greatest runner of all time. Strange.

He soon came into view, dark brown paws beating the dirt as he raced to his finish line, a small cluster of trees with a very small water hole. Perfect for some down time after a morning run. He grinned, satisfied with his mornings work and lapped at the water, refreshing himself.

Natintrapa had always been a morning lioness. She was wide awake, and enjoying a morning walk alone. She had been looking for new hunting grounds for her and her traveling lion companion. Of course, he had been doing the same in another area. They were to meet up in a day or two. The end of her tail flicked back and forth slowly as she took light steps. It didn't take her long before she noticed the small cluster of trees. She hadn't seen the watering hole, or the cheetah enjoying the bit of it.

At least, not at first. She started towards them carefully. Moving slightly slow, enjoying the morning coolness. She could feel it slowly heating up, which wasn't much of a problem, just made her more tired when it did. She gave a small yawn. When her eyes opened from the yawn, she finally noticed the water hole. Not just that, there was someone else there.

She didn't want to frighten them, but she had not been paying attention and stepped on a dead dry stick. It cracked louder then she had ever figured something could make. She looked down at it as she froze in spot. She didn't want to seem like she was sneaking up on the cheetah, she wasn't the type to follow and stalk another feline. She looked up back towards the cheetah.

So refreshing! He thought to himself, satisfied with the waters early morning coolness running down his throat. It wouldn't be long and he would be out for another run, practicing his sprinting, weaving and movement across the lands.

But then he heard a noise. A twig snapping? There wasn't anyone around as far as he knew. Tasunke swiveled his head to the sound, only slightly apprehensive. The sound was not too close, and he could easily run off if needed.

Oh! A lion. His red eyes looked her over. Her body language didn't seem to say she wanted to attack him. That was always a good sign. Perhaps she was here to challenge him to a race? He could only hope.

Wanting to break the tension, Tasunke offered a smile and a greeting. "Hello! The water is very fresh this morning, if you're wanting a drink."

So it seemed the other wasn't going to be frightened of her. She let out the air she hadn't noticed she was holding. She had been holding it since the sound of the twig snapping. She felt a rush of relief run over her. She started moving towards him with a smile. She was glad that he wasn't mean. Or didn't appear to be. She moved closer to the water. "Is it?" She asked him as she got closer. "Lovely morning, don't you think?" She wasn't thirsty, but she lapped up some water anyways. Not much, though.

"I don't mean to intrude, I was just looking for a place to sit for a bit." She told him. She'd never seen a cheetah up close before. Man, they were really slender. She bet they could run fast too. She'd never seen one actually run though. At least, she didn't think so. She wasn't a fast runner at all.

"It is! I think the best time for a drink is in the early morning, like now," he indicated around, "Because it's still cool from the night before."

He nodded to her. Today certainly was a good day. "Yes, just the right amount of wind and cloud." He always took note of the weather conditions. Weather was an important factor when thinking about running and racing and training, which he had learned over time.

"Please, sit!" He said, smiling again and moved a paw to motion beside him. Tasunke was a friendly cheetah, and he had no problem with sharing space with others, because most were like him, alone, not having a pride and family to rely on. That was something that almost all wanderers had in common, he had learned from his interactions with them in the past.

"So what brings you here?" He asked. Pleasebearace pleasebearace he mentally pleaded.

He was very kind. She wondered if all cheetahs were like this. "Why thank you" She said kindly as she sat next to him. Not too close, but not too far. She thought about what she was doing here for a moment. "I was just looking for a good hunting grounds for the next few days. " She never stayed in one spot for long. Which was for the best. Her companion had understood that and agreed that it was best to be moving. Though she hadn't told him exactly why she did it. She hadn't told anyone her past.

"What brings you here?" she asked him. She wondered what Cheetahs thought about, now that she was with one. Maybe he'd give her a tiny bit of what she was curious about.

'Oh, hunting," he said. He tried to hide his disappointment, but some of it would seep through to his words. Another being that did not want to race. Tasunke hoped one would come soon, it was practically all he lived for.

"I think the grounds around here are okay." He offered. This wasn't his home, so he didn't really know, this was more of a pit stop on his way, so he never spent too much time here, and hadn't hunted here at all.

"I was just taking a break," he replied. "I'd just finished my morning run, a personal best mind you, and I'd wanted some of the waters coolness to cool me down." He smiled, cool water was one of the best tricks he'd learned to help a body relax and restore after running a lot.

She nodded at him when he spoke. She had wanted a nice spot to stay for a few days. A good hunting area was important. Not that she was actually hunting now, but she didn't need to say that. She smiled at him, hadn't noticed the bit of disappointment in his words. "Are they?" She asked nodding more. She looked around the area, but didn't see much worth looking at for hunting stuff.

"You like to run?" She asked him. She didn't know any cheetahs, so any information about them was interesting to her. She wanted to assume that they liked to run, but assuming made an a** out of you. She looked backed at him in curiosity more then anything. She wanted to know more, as much more as he was willing to share with her. Though, she didn't want to seem too interested in it. She didn't want to scare him.

She had scared some lions before being too interested in what they did. It obviously wasn't something that was very good. Maybe. She wasn't sure. Perhaps she was just kinda scary? She would have to ask Urza about it later. Though, she was sure he'd deny any scary bits about her.

As soon as the lioness mentioned running, the cheetah was gone, rambling about his favorite hobby. "Do I ever! I practice every day. You can never practice enough in my opinion, because you only get faster and faster, which is what I want to be. The fastest! I probably am. I mean, I haven't raced anyone else before, but if I did, I'm sure I'd win. I go for practice runs twice a day, sometimes even three."

He was getting really worked up now, Tasunke was obsessed with running, and as he spoke his mind flew with his memories from where he'd run, when he made his first good time, how far he had come from when he'd first started practicing. In fact, all this talk and thought of running had gotten Tasunke worked up. He had to go for a run. NOW!

"So sorry," he said as he rose from his seat next to the water. "But I have to practice. I hope you find a good hunting spot." And with that he sped off, sprinting away to one of his courses. As he went, the lioness would hear a "BYEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" as he disappeared into the distance.

Natintrapa wasn't sure what happened. He started talking like crazy about the thing he loved, it was quite interesting, but he didn't let her get in a single word. And before she knew it he was gone. She sat there with a puzzled look upon her face. Apparently he loved running so much, more then anyone had loved something before. Or at least that she knew of.

She didn't mean to make him leave like that. She almost felt bad for asking about it, then again, she supposed it was good he had so much passion for something. She wished she had as much passion for something as he did. She kinda envied him in away. She was too afraid to love something or someone that much. Afraid of what might happen.
